Spin Me Round

By the Empress of the Eclipse

Disclaimer - I don't own Digimon or the Digicharacters. Oh and the title was originally part of a song title but I stole it. Thanks.

This is a sequel to 'In the Diner'. It's JYMATO. It's also got Taito but mainly Jymato i.e. Joe and Matt. Plus there's Takchi (TK/Tai) It also has more plot than 'In the Diner' did. But it's still LEMON!

It's set in an alternate reality where Joe is seventeen and Matt is sixteen but they are all trapped in the Digital World. Kari's with them and no season two characters or Dark Masters.

~~~
Joe sat up and looked around, wondering vaguely what had woken him.
They were gone again.
He swallowed painfully and lay back down. It was the third time that week. Every night, Matt and Tai were sneaking off together somewhere. It didn't take a genius to work out what they were doing, especially as Joe knew how they felt about each other.
None of the other Digidestined knew. Just Joe. He was the only one. He'd never exactly been told but after Matt had snuggled up and said Tai's name and cried Tai's name when they'd....
He rolled over, trying to sleep. It didn't do any good to dwell on things. Matt and Tai were together. End of story. It was his own fault that he couldn't get Matt out of his head, that Matt barely spoke to him and tried to avoid him as much as possible. If he hadn't taken advantage of Matt, he'd still have the blonde's friendship. Instead, he'd lost everything for one stupid night.
What made it worse was, Joe knew he'd do it again. He'd use any excuse to hold Matt again, to kiss him and stroke his hair.
Joe scrambled up. Quietly, he walked into the bushes.
* * * *
Matt closed his eyes and leaned comfortably against Tai. Tai smiled and brushed strands of Matt's hair off his face.
"Don't go to sleep," he said gently "Not here. We have to go back to camp remember?"
"Tired," Matt muttered.
Tai gave him a sharp poke. Matt opened his eyes and glared at him. Tai grinned.
"Come on," he said "Time to go back."
He leaned down and gave Matt a lingering goodbye kiss.
"I'll go first," he said "You come in a few minutes."
"I don't see why all this cloak and dagger stuff is necessary," Matt grumbled.
Tai shrugged.
"The others might be a bit uncomfortable knowing that we....well," he said, blushing.
Matt giggled.
"Okay then," he said "See you in a few minutes."
Tai quietly slipped off. Matt sat, waiting, thinking about Tai.
It hadn't been long since they'd got together. Matt had been feeling depressed, thinking that Tai could never love him and was playing his harmonica beside a lake when Tai had come to join him. He'd wanted to find out what was wrong with his friend. Matt hadn't meant to tell him but somehow he'd just blurted it out.
"Tai, I'm in love with you."
He remembered the shocked look on Tai's face with absolute clarity, the way his mouth had opened slightly and his eyes had widened. Matt had felt horrified and ashamed tears come into his eyes as he stared at his friend. Then Tai had leaned forward and kissed him.
Since then they'd been sneaking off together at nights to make out. So far, they'd never gone further. Tai said that he wanted to be sure.
Matt felt the usual pang when he thought that. He hadn't told Tai that it wouldn't be his first time. Not after than night with Joe....
"Matt."
Matt nearly jumped out of his skin as the voice of the person he'd just been thinking about spoke softly from nearby. He leaped to his feet, looking around. Joe was standing a little way away, looking at him.
"What are you doing?" Matt demanded "You nearly scared me to death!"
"I was making sure you were okay," Joe said quietly "You've been away from camp a while."
"Are you spying on me?" Matt asked, suddenly feeling nervous. He knew that Joe still felt more for him than friendship and it scared him a little. Joe had used him, knowing that Matt thought that he was Tai and that bothered Matt a lot.
Joe didn't answer. He was watching Matt silently, a curious glitter in his eyes.
"Have you told him?" he asked.
"About what?" Matt muttered.
"Us," Joe said quietly.
Matt swallowed.
"I don't see why I should," he said harshly "I wasn't with him then. It wasn't anything serious, wasn't even anything. I don't see why he has to know. Anyway, there is no 'us'."
"I just thought he'd be interested to know that before you started doing whatever you're doing, you fucked me," Joe said, his voice almost as harsh as Matt's.
"I didn't!" Matt snapped "I'd never have touched you, you know that. You were the one who fucked me!"
The two boys glared at each other. It was the first time they'd ever mentioned what had happened between them in the diner.
"You enjoyed it," Joe said "You know you did. And you miss it. You want it again, only Taichi won't, and you want it more than anything."
"You..." Matt broke off angrily. He couldn't think of anything bad enough to say.
Joe suddenly moved forward rapidly, long legs striding. Before Matt could even blink, Joe was holding him against a tree.
"Let go!" Matt snarled, struggling furiously. He hadn't remembered Joe being so strong. Joe used one arm to keep Matt pinioned against the tree. Using his other hand, he gently closed Matt's eyes.
"Just keep your eyes closed and relax," he ordered softly "Don't think, just feel. If this still feels wrong, I'll stop."
Matt continued to squirm desperately.
"Joe, let go!" he said, wondering if he yelled, would anyone hear him "Joe, please..."
Joe kissed him lightly. He continued to kiss him, not putting any pressure on, just touching their lips together, licking Matt's lips gently. Matt slowly relaxed and began to respond to the small kisses with small kisses of his own. Joe leaned in and kissed him with more force, releasing Matt's arms as he did. Matt almost unconsciously slipped his arms round Joe's waist. He still had his eyes closed. Joe ran his hands though Matt's hair, still holding him against the tree. He was beginning to unbutton Matt's shirt, brushing his hands over Matt's skin. Joe began to move away from Matt's lips down the side of Matt's neck. Matt gave a soft moan as Joe nipped at the edge of his collar bone.
Something hooted loudly nearby making them both jump. Matt's eyes widened with horror. He twisted violently away from Joe, frantically buttoning up his shirt. He gave Joe one last frightened look and then fled the clearing. Joe stared after him silently.
"Fuck," he whispered "Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck!"
What the hell was wrong with him? That was no way to mend his relationship with Matt! He had meant to talk to Matt, make sure everything was okay, not force him into something that he didn't want to do...
Only he had wanted it. He hadn't pushed Joe away, had he? He'd let Joe kiss him, not tried to resist after the first few moments....
Joe shook his head. He waited a few more minutes and then quietly set off back to camp.
* * * *
Matt wiped his face tiredly. He was exhausted. They'd been walking for hours.
"Tai," he called "Can't we have a break?"
The others joined in, agreeing with him. Tai looked back at them. Matt did look a bit tired...
He gave himself a mental shake and looked round at the others, making himself take in their looks. Everyone looked tired.
"Okay," he said "Take five you guys."
Everyone slumped down. Tai walked over to Matt.
"How're you holding up?" he whispered.
Matt gave him a small grin.
"I'm okay," he said "It's just hot."
"Yeah," Tai agreed. He wanted to lean forward and brush Matt's hair off his forehead but he didn't dare. Not with the others watching. Instead, he just grinned at him.
"Tonight?" he said softly "You, me, appointment under the stars?"
"Okay," Matt agreed instantly "Midnight?"
Tai nodded. Then he got up to check on Kari. Matt looked after him, biting his lip anxiously.
What the hell had he been thinking of last night? He'd let Joe kiss him. He'd let Joe kiss him, knowing that it was Joe. Why? Why the hell had he done that? He didn't even like Joe, it was Tai he loved, Tai he wanted....
But Joe was right. Matt did miss it. He loved and wanted Tai more than anything but Tai still wanted to wait, didn't want to go any further. It wound Matt up more than anything. And then there'd been Joe with his gentle kisses and warm hands and it had just been nice and so easy to relax into....
Matt gave himself a mental slap. No. That wasn't right. He didn't want Joe, he wanted Tai, he loved Tai. What had happened was a mistake. It was a stupid, stupid mistake and it wasn't going to happen again. Ever.
"Okay you lot," Tai called "We'd better get going!"
Matt slowly scrambled to his feet and they continued walking.
* * * *
Matt kissed Tai hungrily, running one of his hands though Tai's tangled mop of hair. Tai responded by playfully drawing back, making Matt give a protesting groan.
"Tai..."
Tai kissed him again, one of his arms round Matt's shoulders, the other resting on Matt's chest. Matt kept one of his hands enmeshed in Tai's hair but let his other one slide down Tai's chest, steadily getting lower...
Tai drew back.
"No Matt," he said, his voice husky "No."
"Tai..." Matt said, his voice barely more than a moan "Please Tai, please."
Tai shook his head.
"I'm just not ready," he said "I know you want to go further but I want to wait. I'm sorry."
Matt stared up at Tai pleadingly. He wanted Tai, he wanted him so much, why couldn't Tai just....
He swallowed.
"Okay," he said softly "I understand."
Tai gave him another light kiss. It was probably meant as a 'I'm sorry' kiss but to Matt it just heightened his longing.
"I'll see you in a few minutes," Tai said.
Matt watched him walk out of the clearing. He leaned back against a tree trunk with a sigh and closed his eyes. God, he was so wound up....
Someone kissed him gently. Matt smiled and kissed back, pressing into the warm body. One hand curled round the back of his head, the other was stroking his thigh gently. Matt whimpered, feeling more wound up than ever.
"Please..." he whispered "Please..."
The hand moved and Matt frantically stifled moans as it began to give him the best hand job that he'd ever had (this wasn't hard considering that this was the first hand job he'd ever had.)
"Tai..."
For a second, the hand faltered, then continued moving rapidly. Part of Matt's brain realised what had to be happening but most of him was too far gone to even care. He wanted this, he needed this. He jerked his hips violently, whimpering longingly. He was going to come, he could tell....
"Tai!"
He shivered and went limp, panting slightly. The arms slipped round him, supporting him. Matt opened his eyes.
Joe's black eyes stared impassively back into his.
"Joe," Matt said faintly "Oh shi..."
Joe covered Matt's mouth with his own, silencing him.
"Don't deny it Matt," he whispered after he drew back "You knew it was me, not your precious Taichi. You knew."
"No," Matt said weakly "No, I didn't know, I thought..."
Joe shook his head.
"Liar," he murmured "Liar."
He kissed Matt again but Matt shoved him off.
"Leave me alone," he said "Just....just leave me alone."
He scrambled up and ran.
"You know the truth Matt!" Joe called after him "You know!"
Matt tried to ignore Joe's words but they ran round his head for a long time afterwards.
* * * *
After that, Matt avoided Joe as much as possible. He made sure that after his 'sessions' with Tai, he was the one who left first, not giving Joe a chance to get at him. He barely even spoke to him if he could help it. The others were beginning to notice.
"Have you and Joe had a fight?" Tai asked curiously.
"No," Matt said quickly "What makes you think that?"
"You avoid him," Tai said "And you never speak to him."
"I hardly ever speak to him anyway," Matt said "We haven't had a fight."
Tai shrugged. He wasn't sure that he believed Matt but it wasn't his place to call Matt a liar. Leaning down, he kissed Matt instead. Matt instantly wrapped his arms round Tai, kissing him back.
"This is much more interesting," he murmured in Tai's ear. Tai gave a faint laugh and continued kissing Matt, letting Matt's hands roam over his body.
"I love you Tai," Matt breathed "I love you."
Tai nodded.
"Me too," he said softly.
The two of them continued to kiss passionately. They were unaware that Joe was watching them, or that Joe was wearing a completely different expression than normal. Normally he looked calm or slightly nervous. But now he was frowning, wearing a dark expression as he watched the two boys kiss. Matt's hands were once again getting lower.
Then Tai drew back.
"Tai.....Tai, don't," Matt whispered "Please Tai, don't."
"Matt, I can't...."
Matt kissed him again, holding Tai tightly. Tai struggled and pulled back again.
"Matt, no."
"Tai.....!" Matt said. He sounded frustrated "Why? Why not? Why won't you love me?"
"I do love you!" Tai said, looking slightly shocked "You know I do! I'm just not ready for this!"
"Why not?" Matt demanded "It's not that scary! We don't even have to have sex, just....just anything!"
"I'm just not sure!" Tai said "I'm sorry Matt. But if you love me then you won't push!"
Matt scowled unhappily.
"Tai..."
"I'll see you later," Tai interrupted. Standing up, he walked out of the clearing leaving Matt sitting alone. Matt hit the ground in frustration. Christ, why did Tai have to wind him up like that? Why did Tai not want him? He wanted Tai so much, why wouldn't Tai love him?
"Yamato."
Matt froze at the familiar voice. He swallowed.
"Leave me alone," he said. His voice lacked conviction "Go away."
He heard footsteps behind him and Joe sat next to him.
"Go away," Matt repeated.
"Is that what you want?" Joe whispered. He caught Matt's face in his hands and held it gently. Leaning down, he kissed Matt, very gently. Matt's body was itching for someone to hold him, to kiss him, to touch him.
"Do you want me to stop?" Joe asked. He kissed Matt again.
"Yes," Matt whispered half-pleadingly "This is wrong, I don't want this..."
He knew that he didn't sound convincing, knew that he was pressing closer to Joe even as he spoke.
"You know you do," Joe murmured "You know you want this Matt."
"No...."
Joe kissed him again, softly and lingeringly. Matt groaned faintly.
"Oh God," he said "I can't...."
He had to resist this, had to resist Joe's kisses, Joe's arms, Joe's words...
"You can," Joe whispered "You know what you want. I can give it to you Matt, I can give you what you want. Just let me."
"Please..." Matt whispered faintly "Please Joe, please..."
He wasn't sure what he was asking for anymore, just wanted it settled one way or the other. He hurt with desire, he needed something. Joe kissed him violently, pushing him back on the grass. Matt moaned and surrendered into his embrace, just letting Joe kiss him. Joe began tugging at Matt's clothes. Matt obligingly raised his arms and let Joe pull off his sweater. Joe quickly and efficiently removed all of Matt's clothes and squirmed out of his own. Then he rolled Matt over.
"Don't scream," he breathed in Matt's ear.
Matt hadn't even considered lubricant. At that moment, he didn't even care. He gritted his teeth and closed his eyes as Joe entered him. He made a strange sobbing noise with pain but Joe lightly licked his ear-lobe with a whisper of reassurance, then gently began to thrust into him and Matt managed to somehow ignore the pain as Joe reached round and began to stroke Matt's erection, slowly at first, then faster as he thrust faster.
"Joe!" Matt choked "Oh God Joe!"
He came explosively, about the same time as Joe did. Joe rolled off him and calmly began to pull his clothes back on. Matt drew himself up into a ball, shaking. It hurt so much. And Tai....
Tears began to edge out of Matt's eyes, tears of pain and guilt. He'd betrayed Tai with Joe, Joe who he didn't even like. What the hell had he been thinking of? What the hell was wrong with him?
"You wanted it," Joe said softly from behind him.
Then he walked out of the clearing leaving Matt lying hunched up in a ball.
* * * *
"Tai," TK whispered "I think something's wrong with Matt."
Tai glanced back. Matt was walking behind everyone else looking pensive and unhappy. He was also walking sort of funny. He wasn't exactly limping but he was sort of hobbling.
"Yeah," Tai said. He raised his voice "Okay everyone, five minute rest!"
Mimi sat down straight away looking relieved. Sora looked a bit confused, obviously not expecting a stop so soon. Tai gave her a chirpy grin and made his way over Matt who was squatting on the ground rather than sitting.
"Hey," he said, laying his hand on Matt's shoulder. Matt jerked like he'd been shot and looked round.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Tai asked "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, fine," Matt said.
"You've been limping," Tai said "Are you sure everything's okay?"
Matt nodded.
"Don't worry about me Tai," he said "I'm fine. I'm....I'm sorry about what I did last night. It wasn't fair."
"Hey, don't worry your head," Tai said "It's okay."
Matt nodded.
"If there's anything wrong, you can tell me," Tai said, slightly anxiously "You can."
Matt just nodded. Tai scrambled up to check on everyone else. He didn't see the tears that were beginning to trickle down Matt's face.
* * * *
After that, Matt stopped pushing Tai to go further. In fact, he stopped pushing Tai at all. He seemed to be withdrawing from Tai. Tai couldn't get him to say what was wrong. No one could. Matt was becoming more and more reclusive or as reclusive as he could be while working with everyone.
"I just wish I knew what was wrong," Tai said sadly to TK "He's just so unhappy."
"He won't tell me either," TK said "He just says that he's fine."
Tai sighed. Maybe it was because he wouldn't give Matt what he wanted. But he just didn't want to be pushed. He wanted to be sure. Was there anything wrong with that?
Tai unhappily drew his knees up and sat deep in thought. What could he do? Why was Matt so sad?
Matt was sitting a little way away from everyone else, hidden by some trees. He was crying again. He couldn't help it. He still couldn't believe what he'd done. He'd betrayed Tai, betrayed him so badly. God, he was just stupid.
"Matt?"
Matt jumped. Joe was standing there looking distressed.
"Matt please don't cry," he said "Please don't."
"Just leave me alone," Matt said turning away.
"I didn't mean to upset you," Joe said softly.
The next second Matt had thrown himself on him and was punching at him furiously. Joe tried to defend himself as Matt blindly hit him.
Then something hit Matt. He rolled off Joe with a cry. For a second, Joe didn't have a clue. Then he stared. Looming over them was an enormous, very angry looking Digimon. It stared down at them. Joe pushed himself up and glanced at Matt. Matt was unconscious, his face white. As Joe turned back to the Digimon, ready to yell for help. the Digimon opened it's mouth. A yellowish tongue shot out with the force of a whip and slammed into Joe, knocking all the breath out of him. The whip-tongue hit again and Joe dropped in an unconscious heap next to Matt.
* * * *
Matt woke slowly. He hurt all over and he was shivering.
"Matt? Matt?"
He blinked. Joe's face came into view.
"What happened?" Matt mumbled.
"Some Digimon attacked us," Joe said "I rather think that we are now in its larder."
Matt sat up and looked around. They were in a cold stone room which closely resembled a prison cell. He was lying on a stone slab with straw on. The door was firmly bolted.
"The others?"
"I don't think they were anywhere near," Joe said quietly "I was going to yell for help but it got me before I could."
Matt got up and staggered dizzily. Joe reached out to help but Matt pushed him away. He walked unsteadily to the door and peered though the peephole thing. It was a solid stone corridor and Matt couldn't see anything.
"We must be miles away from the others," he said slowly "They might not have even missed us."
"I'm sure they have," Joe said reassuringly "They might have even seen the Digimon carry us off. I bet they're coming for us right now."
"What does it want us for?" Matt whispered "Why?"
Joe shrugged. He had a guess but he didn't really want to think about it.
"We're probably it's dinner," Matt said morbidly "Or maybe it just likes keeping people in dungeons. Maybe we're it's new toys."
"Don't," Joe said with a shiver.
Matt swayed again. His legs weren't holding him up properly. He hoped Joe hadn't noticed.
"I don't want to die," he said softly "I never thought it would really bother me but....I don't want to die. TK needs me."
Matt paused, obviously thinking.
"I hope TK's okay," he said "I hope Tai looks after him."
Joe just watched. He saw Matt sway again and leapt up to grab him. Matt half fell into his arms, blinking.
"Don't pass out on me," Joe said "It's okay. We're not going to die. You hear me? We are not going to die."
Matt leaned against Joe, taking comfort in his warmth. It was so cold in the dungeon...
He looked up at Joe. Joe looked back.
"Thanks," Matt muttered.
"It's okay," Joe said. He reached up and brushed Matt's hair off his face. Matt blinked.
"We're not going to die," Joe repeated softly, still stroking Matt's hair.
Matt stared at him for another moment. Then he uncertainly leaned up and kissed Joe gently. Joe was slightly surprised but kissed him back almost straight away. Matt reached up and wrapped his arms round Joe's shoulders. He knew it was wrong but he was so afraid....and Joe was just there....
Joe manoeuvred them so they were by the stone slab again. He carefully lowered Matt onto it and lay beside him, half on top of him, still kissing him firmly. Matt responded hungrily, pressing tightly against Joe's body. He moved suddenly so he was on top of Joe.
"My turn," he whispered softly before going back to kissing Joe. Joe let him, obviously very happy for it to be Matt's turn.
A slight sound made them separate and look up. Matt froze.
The Digidestined were standing at the door, staring at them in shock. Tai was standing in front of all of them, his eyes wide with shock.
"Oh God," Matt said faintly. He thought he was going to be sick. Tai....
"We...we have to get out," Tai said, his voice sounding strained "The Shianmon might come back at any moment."
Joe and Matt both scrambled to their feet. Matt couldn't look at any of the others as they ran out. He could only stare frantically at Tai. Oh God, oh God, oh God what was Tai going to say?
They finally stopped moving when they were a good way away from the Shianmon's lair.
"Everyone rest here," Tai ordered "It's unlikely to follow us, there's easier prey around."
Everyone slowly settled down. Tai turned and walked off into the trees. Matt instantly ran after him. He waited until they were some way from camp before speaking.
"Tai. Tai!"
Tai whirled round and glared at him. Matt stopped and looked at him uncertainly.
"Why Matt?" Tai demanded "Why'd you do it? What the hell were you doing?"
"I....I was...." Matt floundered helplessly "We..."
"Why?" Tai shouted "Why damn it!"
Matt noticed that Tai was crying.
"Tai don't," he said, instinctively reaching out for his boyfriend "Please don't cry. I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to...."
"To what? To suck his face off?" Tai snarled, throwing Matt's arms away from him "I saw you Matt! You couldn't get enough of him!"
"It wasn't like that!" Matt said wretchedly "We were frightened Tai. We thought we were going to die without ever seeing any of you again. I didn't mean to...."
Tai shook his head. He was still crying.
"You were practically sleeping with him!" he sobbed "You were on top of him dammit! If we'd come a bit later, we'd have found you two fucking each other senseless!"
Matt desperately tried to think of something to say. He stared miserably at Tai.
"Tai..."
"Why?" Tai shouted again "Why? Is it 'cause I won't sleep with you? Are you just frustrated? Need to vent your tensions elsewhere?"
"No!" Matt shouted "That's not it Tai! I told you! I was scared and lonely and Joe was there! I'm sorry that I hurt you, I didn't mean to!"
Tai stared at him.
"Didn't mean to hurt..." he repeated slowly "What the hell did you think it would do to me, seeing you two kissing? Did you think I'd just laugh it off?"
"I didn't think you were coming!" Matt cried "I thought you hadn't even seen us get taken! I didn't think you were going to come!"
"How could you think that?" Tai asked "I'll always come for you. I'd never let you down."
He was still crying. Matt slowly stepped forward and hugged him. Tai pressed his face into Matt's shoulder. Matt held him close, privately promising that he'd never hurt Tai ever again. It was like kicking a small harmless puppy.
"I'm so sorry Tai," he whispered "I'm so, so sorry, I never meant to hurt you. I love you so much, I am sorry...."
"Aw look," Joe's voice said scornfully "The 'lovers' have made it up."
Matt and Tai drew away from each other, Tai looking a bit shocked.
"How'd you know?" he demanded "Have you been spying on us?"
"Oh I didn't need to," Joe said, sounding mocking "Good old Yamato here told me."
"Joe," Matt said faintly "Joe..."
Joe ignored him.
"So everything's back to normal between you now?" he said to Tai "Good old 'love conquers all' situation? Well bad news Taichi. Try love conquering this."
"What are you talking about?" Tai demanded.
Matt stared at Joe pleadingly. Joe ignored him, staring at Tai.
"Yamato's never going to tell you," he said "He's had his chance. So maybe I'd better fill you in on what he missed out. You think that's the first time we've been together?"
"Joe!" Matt said pleadingly "Please..."
Joe cut him off.
"We screwed way before you two were even together," he said tauntingly "And even afterwards....well, why do you think he's been drawing away from you? Guilt Taichi. Good old fashioned guilt. Because after you ran off on him that night, he fucked me!"
Tai reeled backwards, his face ashy with shock. Matt stood there, his fists clenched, shaking with horror. Oh God, oh please no....
"No..." Tai said, his voice trembling "No, that's not true..."
"Ask him," Joe said "Go on. Ask him if it's true!"
Tai turned and looked at Matt.
"Matt," he said pleadingly "Tell me it's not true Matt. Tell me!"
Matt bowed his head.
"I'm sorry," he whispered brokenly "I'm so sorry Tai. I didn't mean to it just..."
Joe laughed scornfully.
"'Didn't mean to'," he mocked in an imitation of Matt's voice "Oh yeah Matt, sure you didn't. You asked me to, you begged me to..."
"No!" Matt cried "It wasn't like that!"
"He's been letting me have him for weeks!" Joe said to Tai "All the times you've been pushing him away, he's been letting me kiss him and hold him....you wouldn't even give him a hand job. But I would. And did."
Tai stared at Matt, his face white with shock and disbelief.
"Why?" he said "Why Matt? Why the hell have you done this to me? I thought you loved me!"
"I do!" Matt sobbed "I do love you, more than anything. But..."
"But what?" Tai screamed "If you loved me, you'd wait, not get cheap thrills with him!"
Joe just stood there, watching them silently.
"I didn't mean to!" Matt wailed "I didn't mean to Tai, I swear. It just...just happened!"
Tai gave a violent sob of disbelief.
"God Matt, how can anything like that 'just happen'?" he asked "How can you accidentally wind up fucking someone?"
Matt shook his head uselessly. He was guilty as charged. He didn't have a defence.
"Tai..."
Tai interrupted him.
"Just....just stay away from me," he said brokenly "Just...both of you, stay away."
He ran out of the clearing leaving Joe and Matt standing alone together.
* * * *
Things between the Digidestined were tense after that. The majority of them didn't know what was going on but they all felt the atmosphere around them and didn't like it. Tai wasn't speaking to anybody and neither was Joe. Matt had poured out the whole story to TK who'd listened silently and tried to comfort his brother. It was impossible, Matt was inconsolable. He blamed himself for his and Tai's break-up and he knew that Tai was miserable which made him feel worse. TK just watched them sadly, not really knowing what to do. He couldn't help feeling vaguely worse because he was slightly glad his brother had broken up with Tai. TK had never told anyone that he had a crush on Tai. It was something he'd never liked to admit at first and now it was something that he could never really admit. After all, Matt loved Tai and Tai probably loved Matt. So TK said nothing, just tried to look after Matt as best he could.
One night, about a week after the fight, TK opened his eyes, not sure what had woken him. Matt was lying next to him, tossing fretfully in his sleep. The others were all sprawled out with their Digimon. Except....
TK scrambled up. Tip-toeing though the group, he walked into the forest until he heard the faint sound of sobs. Following them, he came out into a small clearing. Tai was hunched in one corner, sobbing bitterly into his knees. TK quietly walked up and sat down next to him.
"Tai?" he said uncertainly.
Tai looked up. His face was blotchy and tear-streaked. Tears were still running out from his eyes.
"TK," he said faintly "Hi."
TK timidly reached out and wrapped his arms round Tai. Tai promptly melted into him, pressing his face into TK's shoulder, soaking it with his tears. TK gently rocked him, whispering soothing things and trying to ignore the fact that Tai's arms were warm round him and Tai was just so solid...
"TK."
TK looked at Tai who was looking up at him.
"Thanks," Tai said, his voice still shaky "Thanks. I'm sorry if I woke you, I'm sorry I'm crying all over you..."
"It's okay," TK said firmly "It's okay Tai. I just want to help."
Tai gave him a faint smile and rested his head on TK's shoulder again. TK just sat there holding him tightly. Eventually he looked down at Tai. Tai had his eyes closed and was breathing peacefully. TK swallowed. He tried not to think of Tai as anything except a really good friend but it was so hard when Tai was so cute...
TK slowly reached up and traced the side of Tai's face gently. Tai's eyes opened and he looked up at TK, slightly shocked.
"TK?"
TK smiled down at him and then leaned down and kissed him very gently on the lips. Tai froze for a second, the kissed TK back passionately. TK let Tai pull him down so they were lying on the forest floor together, still kissing. TK raked one of his hands though Tai's hair, slightly amazed that there was so much of it. His fingers caught in tangles and Tai gave a slightly moan of protest. TK drew back to mumble an apology and Tai tried to pull him back.
"Uhm...Matt...."
TK froze. For a second he remained still. Then he gently untangled himself from Tai.
"No Tai," he said gently "It's TK."
Tai's eyes snapped open and he looked shocked. He opened his mouth to speak but TK started talking first.
"I think you should talk to Matt," he said quietly "I know he still loves you and wants you back. I'll go and wake him now and send him to speak to you."
He turned to talk out though the clearing. Then he paused.
"I won't tell him," he said softly "I promise."
Then he vanished though the trees, leaving Tai staring after him.
What had he been thinking? He'd never thought of TK like that, never. He loved Matt. Or he had loved Matt.
Tai shock his head. No. If he was honest with himself, he knew that he still loved Matt, more than anything. He just didn't like to think it. Matt had betrayed him and hurt him and it was so hard...
"Tai?"
Matt was standing at the edge of the clearing. His hair was tousled from sleep and he looked tired but his eyes were wide and hopeful. He swallowed.
"TK said you wanted to talk to me?"
"Yes," Tai said "Yes I do."
He scrambled to his feet and walked over to Matt. Matt continued to stare at him.
"I love you Matt," Tai said quietly "I love you more than anything. I want us to try again."
Matt looked like he was going to faint. He stared at Tai, almost like he thought Tai was joking.
"I'll be with you again if you swear that you'll never do anything like that again," Tai said "I mean it Matt. No more secrets. You've no idea what it did to me seeing you with Joe and hearing what he said. You can never ever imagine it. I'm sorry if I can't give you what you want. But you'll have to wait."
Matt nodded.
"I promise Tai," he said "I promise, I promise. I love you Tai and I swear that nothing's ever going to make me hurt you again."
Tai hugged his boyfriend tightly. Matt began to cry, clinging onto his friend. Tai stared to cry again too and buried his face in Matt's hair.
Maybe now everything would be okay between them.
* * * *
Joe was woken by someone shaking him roughly.
"Joe. Joe wake up."
Opening his eyes, he saw TK peering down at him.
"TK?"
TK nodded.
"C'mon," he said "I need to talk to you."
Joe uncertainly scrambled to his feet. TK took his hand and led him off into the woods. They stopped some way from camp. Joe looked at TK who stared back earnestly.
"What?" Joe asked slightly sullenly. He'd been dreaming about Matt and he had a feeling that TK was probably going to preach.
"You have to leave Matt and Tai alone."
Joe blinked.
"What?"
"You have to leave them alone," TK repeated "They love each other Joe."
"They aren't even together," Joe said.
"They are now," TK said.
Joe swallowed.
"Oh," he said softly.
"I know it hurts," TK said softly "I know you love him Joe - or at least you're in lust with him. Believe me, I know what it feels like."
Joe looked at TK closer. He could see that he was looking very sad suddenly. But he continued to speak.
"But if you love him, you'll let him go. You let him stay with Tai and not try to spoil it."
Joe remained silent. TK looked at him solemnly out of big blue eyes, so similar to Matt's. Joe didn't like it. Because deep down he knew that TK was right.
"Yeah," Joe said at last "Yeah."
"You promise to leave Matt alone?"
"Yes."
TK nodded quietly.
"Thanks Joe," he said.
He turned and went back to the camp, leaving Joe staring quietly at the starry sky.
