Digimon Fan Fiction ❯ Tamers No More ❯ Henry figures it out ( Chapter 12 )

Henry Wong slapped the snooze button of his alarm clock. The ring died, allowing the tamer to remain in blissful sleep. The waking world was something the tamer had no desire to deal with. The thoughts crept back to him. Takato had turned into a digimon. Yep, old goggle boy was no longer a boy. He was a bright red dinosaur. And he happened to be crammed inside Henry's closet at this very moment. It didn't make much since, but he had been there, staring Henry in the face with his big yellow eyes. The tamer had stood there with his mouth gaping for what seemed like an eternity. To make matters worse, the big lug had no idea of what had caused it. You'd think you'd have some idea of why you turned into a dinosaur. This revelation of sorts had answered some questions though, namely what the heck was with him at school. Not that the idea of Takato mutating in class was comforting. Heck, what if this was a virus? A plague. Henry knew he'd be infected if it were. Great, yet another thing to worry about.
Henry briefly opened an eye. Maybe it had been a dream. A nightmare, but not real. The tamer could see a red tail poking out of his closet. Nope, no dream. He remembered it well now. Dad had showed up about a second after he'd asked the basics to Takato. While Suzie had rushed out and started to tell Dad everything, Henry had the joy of trying to shove 2 confused and heavy dinosaurs into his closet. Terriermon wasn't stupid and had gone into stuffed toy mode the second Suzie had rushed in, pulling Dad with her.
"They were here Daddy! They were huge Daddy! They tried to eat Terriermon and me! Then, then, Terriermon came alive! And then, then Henry saved me! And then he was talking with the dinosaurs and Terriermon, and I hid under the bed and…" Suzie's version of events thankfully sounded too far-fetched for Dad to even had batted an eye. The only saving grace he'd had that night. He did see the bump however. The tamer had gotten away with saying he'd done that during gym. It was late, and it seemed Dad had no desire to probe him further. Henry's hand traveled to the bump again. If he didn't know better, the stupid thing felt almost pointed…
Henry opened both eyes. It was Saturday. A least fate had decided to cause this on a weekend. Henry became aware of the fact that Terriermon had slept on his head again. His furry butt was in his face.
"Hey. Wake up!" Henry shouted at the sleeping digimon. Terriermon yawned and rolled on his side, pulling an ear over himself. Henry was not in a good mood from the night before, and moved his head so that the digimon rolled off. He hit the bed with a soft thump.
"Hey…" he mumbled, still half asleep. "I was comfortable…"
"Sorry, but we have a lot to do." Henry responded.
"ooooooouhh, why'd ya have to remind me.." the digimon whined. He promptly buried his face in his ears again.
*YAWN*
The loud sound snapped the partners up in bed. Takato was awake.
"Guilimon, move your leg!" he yawned as the dino started to get up inside the still closed closet. Henry remembered the fact that after interrogating Takato for an hour last night they had decided to leave both him and his partner inside his closet for the time being. There was nowhere else to put them.
*RIP*
"Oh Guilimon! You ripped his shirt. Maybe he still asleep…"
"I'm NOT." Henry moaned. The quick shuffling of dinosaurs in a tight space was heard as they got up and opened the door. Takato greeted them with his new eyes., which were a bit bloodshot. He'd had a lot to cry about, so Henry didn't think much of it. Guilimon came out after him, his nose in the air already in search of his main thought: eating. Henry got up finally and walked past them to his closet. Guilimon had managed to cut a nice gash in a old sweater. Not much of a loss. Henry selected his usual vest and pulled out a pair of shorts. It was near May. But it was much too hot for the time of year. At least to him anyway. Henry started for the bathroom, bypassing the flock of digimon in his room.
"Where are you going Henry?" Takato had asked, his voice a bit high with anxiety.
"Shower. I need to think of what to do with you two…" he trailed off
"Terriermon, make sure they stay in there." the tamer said as he closed the door and walked to the bathroom. Henry briefly heard Guilimon ask when breakfast was.
The sound of the shower drowned out any sounds. Henry was alone with his thoughts. Henry decided that he had to do several things in a very short order. One, he needed to get the dino twins to a location that wasn't his closet. Guilimon's shelter looked good, but Henry had no idea how to get them there and not have them wind up on the national news. A pair of escapees from the Jurassic period was a bit notable. Henry ran his fingers threw his hair, wishing that he didn't have to deal with this crap. The tamer wiped his hands over his face, feeling a bit of peach fuzz on his lips and chin. Funny, he had some on his cheeks and forehead too. The second thing the tamer decided he had to do was get in touch with Rika. She'd seen Takato yesterday. Telling her on the phone was pointless. She'd never buy it. She'd only believe the story if she saw Takato herself. That reminded him. Takato's d-arc. The thing was still in his pants. Maybe if he hooked the thing up to his pc he might see if it still worked.
"Henry" a voice said from inside the bathroom. Henry poked his head over the shower door. Terriermon was there.
"Hey! This isn't a peep show Terriermon." the tamer snapped.
"Sorry, but I want to talk. Away from our hungry friends." he grinned.
"Fine, wait a second…" Henry complained as he killed the shower and grabbed a towel. Henry wrapped the towel around himself and went up to the mirror.
"Ok, what is it Terriermon?" the boy asked as he fished out his toothbrush from its holder.
"Well, it's kind of a weird thing…" the digimon started.
"It happed went Takato and Guilimon showed up. I heard them come in, and went to investigate. After getting away from your sister of course. I was walking and then…I got dizzy or something." Henry stopped brushing.
"It was like something was pull'n on every part of my body. Then, snap, it was gone. Then it did it again and again. Then it was gone and didn't come back. I found the dino's after that." the digimon finished.
It had to be a coincidence, but Henry knew it wasn't. That was exactly about the time he'd had his sudden attack at Takato's place.
"Does that sound weird to you" the digimon asked as he hoped up onto the sink counter and turned to his tamer. Henry looked at him, not bothering to hide the fear in his face. Terriermon did the exact opposite of what Henry thought he'd do. He started to laugh.
"What's so funny!" Henry yelped at his partner.
"Your ears! HAHA! They're gonna look like mine at that rate! HAHAHA!" he laughed, rolling onto his back as he did. Henry snapped to his reflection in the mirror. Terriermon wasn't kiddin!! His ears were huge! And almost pointed. No, this couldn't be real…
Henry also got a good look the bump. It was higher than it was, and it was definitely pointed. That wasn't a bump. It's a horn! It hit the tamer almost like a slap in the face.
"Oh sh*t!! I'm turning into you!!!
***
"Very funny Henry. Now be serious, what's with the ears?" Terriermon asked, having to stifle the urge to giggle more. Henry said nothing and leaned up to the mirror. Terriermon watched as the boy touched and pulled his ears like they weren't his.
"This isn't happening…" the tamer mumbled. Terriermon wasn't enjoying Henry's little joke. Henry's acting was scaring the digimon.
"Henry, stop kidding around!" he yelped. Henry moved his attention to the bump on his head. He rubbed the tip as if it was pointed or something…
"Terriermon…" Henry started. "When did you have that little attack?" he asked solemnly.
"Maybe 10mins before you showed up…" the digimon trailed off.
"That was about 8. Takato started to change around 7:30am or so yesterday…" Henry dictated to himself.
Terriermon remembered briefly that Takato had left the school close to 3:00, or at least Henry heard about that time.
"Assuming that Takato started to change while he was asleep, that gives me maybe…oh crap! Maybe 24 hours!!" Henry cried.
"Henry, calm down! Your imagining this…I hope." Terriermon tried. Henry's ears were way too big, and the knot on his head could pass as a horn. Oh, jezz, he maybe right…
"Terriermon!" Henry yelled at him. The digimon snapped to attention.
"I need you to tell me if you see anything else change. I mean anything! Voice, size, fur…" Henry shuddered briefly on that one. "Anything. You got it?"
The digimon stood up and did a little salute as he said "Yes sir!"
"Don't do that…" Henry mumbled.
"Oh come on, lighten up. It could be worse…" Terriermon started. Ok, he was lying on that one but…
"I could be turning into you!" He chuckled. The thought had come to the digimon in an instant and out of his mouth the next. For some reason, it felt too close to home. No, it was just his mind playing tricks on him.
*KNOCK,KNOCK*
The partners jumped as what had to be either Guilimon or Takato knocked on the door.
"Um, Henry?" the voice started, obviously Takato even if it was much too deep.
"Guilimon and I were wondering…" he began.
"when breakfast is?" Henry finished for him.
"How'd ya guess?" Takato asked slowly.
"Call it a hunch." Henry smiled. The tamer quickly slipped into his clothes and exited the bathroom, Terriermon propped on his head. Terriermon had to give his partner one thing. He was a quick thinker. The way he'd had Terriermon on his head covered his ears. Henry had no idea how to inform Takato and his partner of his "infection", so hiding it would do for now.
Henry's father had left for work already, leaving Henry with the house to himself. Suzie would usually be home, but Dad had probably dropped her off at daycare after last night. Henry's mother wouldn't be back from her trip for another 2 days so she wasn't an issue. The tamers had an ideal situation.
The quartet of one human and 3 digimon made there way downstairs and to the kitchen. The problem of what to fix them all came to Both Henry and Terriermon's minds. As Henry pulled out a skillet Terriermon could hear Guilimon sticking his snout inside several cabinets. Henry went to the fridge and started to pull out a few eggs, but upon seeing the almost rabid look the dino twins were giving him, the tamer took out the whole carton. In a sudden motion, Guilimon snatched a couple of eggs as Henry moved the 5 ft to the stove.
"Hey!" he yelled Guilimon's theft almost causing him to drop the eggs. Henry set the carton down and watched as Gulimon handed Takato an egg. Terriermon already guessed they do it but Henry wasn't expecting.
"Hey, don't eat them.."
*GULP,GULP*
" raw…" he moaned, already too late. Henry pulled out a few more eggs for himself and Terriermon and handed the rest to the dinosaurs. The two of them quickly eviscerated the eggs.
"Yuk, I hate seeing Guilimon eat, but Takatomon's just as bad…" Terriermon quipped.
"Hey!" Henry snapped at him. "Don't call him that."
"What?, Takatomon? Guilimon does." the digimon responded.
"Yeah, but your not Guilimon. Besides…" the tamer trailed off and returned to the eggs. Terriermon got the idea and went quiet.
Henry soon finished with his cooking and sat down at the table. Terriermon hopped off his head and snatched a fork from the counter. Henry started to eat but suddenly dropped his fork. He just sat there, still as stone.
"What's up?" Terriermon asked his partner.
"My…my fingernails…" Henry whispered. Terriermon took a look at them and almost choked on the egg in his mouth. Henry's fingernails were black. The same color black as Terriermon's own fingers.
"Oh man, you weren't kidding…" Terriermon murmured. Henry shook his head in frustration and got up from the table and towards his room. Neither of the guilimon took notice of his exit.
