Chapter 3 - Another Digidestined

It was a lovely beautiful day the sun was shining brightly in pale blue sky and there wasn't a cloud in sight. But for Tai and the others things weren't so cheerful Sam was still unconscious and it had already been two days. It was a good thing it was the holidays, but still they were all very worried, would she ever wake up?

Tai: how's she doing? Any change?

Kari shook her head and Tai sighed

Kari: Tai what are we going to do?

Tai: I don't know Kari. Maybe you should call Davis and the others and tell them

what 's happened maybe they'll have some ideas on how to help.

Kari nodded and went to phone the others. Tai stood there for a moment looking at Sam then he went over to the window and started to look out of it. He didn't hear his sister when she came back in the room, after a while he turned away from the window and started back towards Sam then he noticed Kari.

Tai: well?

Kari: they said they'd be right over

Tai gave Kari half a smile. Kari knew her brother was worried they all were. A few minutes later the doorbell rang their mother was about to open the door when Tai yelled 'I'll get it' he opened the to door find TK, Yolei and Cody standing there.

Tai: come in, where's Davis?

Yolei: you know him always late

They all walked though to the room where Sam and Kari were.

Kari: where's Davis? Wait let me guess he's late

TK: how'd you guess

They all laughed

Kari: do you think we should wait for him?

Cody: well I suppose waiting five minutes won't hurt

So they waited and waited…

Yolei: what's going on? And who's that?

TK: we'll explain all when Davis gets here

Yolei: you know what's going on TK

TK nodded

…and waited finally the doorbell rang

Tai: finally

Kari giggled then said: yeah

And went to open the door for Davis.

Kari: your late

Davis: sorry I forgot

Kari: come on

*-That Davis…he has a mind like a sieve at times-* Kari thought as she lead Davis to where the others were

Yolei: so what's your excuse this time?

Davis: I…

Tai: save it we don't have time

Thinking Davis had some long winded story about why he was late.

Then as soon as Kari shut the door Tai told them all about Sam and the glowing necklace.

Yolei: so that's who that is

Looking at Sam

Kari: yeah

Davis: that's Sam?

Tai nodded

Davis: She's pretty…

Then he looked at Kari

Davis: … but not as pretty as Kari

TK rolled his eyes

Kari: and that is the necklace

Pointing to the necklace

Yolei: so how is she?

Tai: still unconscious

Davis: so what do we do?

TK: well the way I see it we have two options:

First we could go to the Digital World and find out from there if

it really is a crest or Second….

He paused for a moment and looked at Sam.

Yolei: what's the second option TK?

TK: we wait for Sam to wake up and see if she knows what's going on

Davis: there stupid ideas, right Kari

TK: oh and you have a better idea?

Davis: um… no

Kari: well it's better than sitting here doing nothing and besides TK might be right if

this really is a crest then the digiworld would be the best place to start.

Yolei: right let's go

Then a little voice came from the bed above them 'don't forget about us' then a little cat head peered over the edge of the bed and looked down at them. It was Gatomon then other little heads popped over the side of bed. There was Patamon, Demiveemon, Poromon and Opamon.

Patamon: right

Then flew over and sat on TK's head

TK looked up at his digimon and said: of course we wouldn't forget you.

Davis: well lets get going then

Taking out his digivice ready to go the Digital World.

Tai: hold on Davis, if our mum comes in here and see you guys are missing. She's

going wonder where you all went.

Kari: Tai's right

Davis: yeah I suppose

Putting his digivice back in his pocket

Yolei: Cody you're quiet

Cody was looking at the necklace.

Cody: I was just thinking if this really is a crest that means that Sam's a Digidestined

TK: yeah your right

Yolei: but aren't there digidestines around the world?

They all nodded

Yolei: well then Sam could be a Digidestined from… where did she come from

again?

Kari: England

Yolei: yeah England

Kari shook her head

Kari: I don't think Sam knows she might be a Digidestined

Cody: why do you say that Kari?

Kari: because when I first saw Sam's necklace I said 'this looks like a crest' to which

Sam replied 'a what?'

Yolei: yeah, good point

Davis: but isn't she a little old to be a Digidestined? I mean she's twenty!

Tai: that's true we were all young when we became Digidestined

Kari: we're not THAT old Tai

Tai: but think about it. When our first group went to the digiworld most of us were

eleven twelve

TK: hmm your right about that and Kari and I were even younger

Tai: exactly so Davis brings up a good point. Sam is a bit old to be a Digidestined

Davis: I do? Cool

Cody: but she still could be one

Kari: hmm maybe we should wait for Sam to wake up

Davis: but who knows when she will wake up. I say we go to the digiworld take that

necklace with us and see if it really is a crest or not

TK: but we don't know what will happen if we do. The necklace is somehow

connected to Sam and if we go to the digiworld with it she might get worse.

Davis: or better

TK: you don't know that

Davis: neither do you

Cody: stop it!

Both TK and Davis stopped and looked at Cody

Cody: Your both right who knows what will happen if we take the necklace to

the digital world.

Gatomon: hey patamon

Patamon: yeah

Gatomon: I think she's waking up

Patamon flew off TK's head and landed beside Sam

Patamon: I think your right Gatomon…. Shhh she's saying something

Sam: Hope…Love…Courage…Friendship…Knowledge…Sincer ity…Reliability…

Honesty…Honesty is the…is the…key

Patamon looked at Gatomon and Gatomon looked at Patamon

Patamon: what does she mean Honesty is the key

Gatomon: I don't know

Gatomon climbed down and sat beside Patamon then the other digimon joined them. They all sat around Sam while their human friends decided what to do. they hadn't heard Sam speak as it was like a whisper when she spoke.

Gatomon and Patamon sat on the left of Sam while Poromon and Opamon sat on the right, Demiveemon had climbed up onto Sam's stomach and sat there.

Patamon: hey Demiveemon get down from there. If Sam's wakes up you'll frighten

her

Poromon: Patamon's right get down

Then all of a sudden Sam's arms moved and she yawned. She was awake! As soon as Sam opened her eyes she saw a little blue thing with a white tummy sitting on her. Instead of screaming or jumping up she smiled and said

Sam: hi

Demiveemon: hi, how are you feeling?

Sam: fine thanks. Who are you?

Demiveemon: I'm demiveemon. I belong to Davis

Then Sam noticed the other digimon sitting around her

Sam: hi

Demiveemon: that's Patamon and Gatomon they belong to TK and Kari…

Gatomon and Patamon: hi

Demiveemon: …and over there is Poromon and Opamon they belong to Yolei and

Cody.

Poromon and Opamon: hi

Sam: who are Davis, Yolei and Cody I don't think I've met them

Patamon: their over there with the others

Then patamon flew over to TK

Patamon: TK! TK! She's awake!

TK: huh?

Patamon: Sam she's awake

Everyone stopped talking when they heard what Patamon had said and all looked at Sam.

Sam: hi…what are you all talking about?

They all couldn't speak for about a minute then Davis noticed where Demiveemon was sitting

Davis: hey Demiveemon get off of her

Sam: that's ok he's not that heavy

Then turning to Demiveemon she said: please could you move? I would like to get up

now.

Then all the digimon moved to give Sam some space. She got up and went over to the others.

Sam: hi I'm Sam I don't think we've met

Looking at Davis

Davis: hi Sam I'm Davis but you can call me….Davis

Sam laughed then said: oh so you're the one Demiveemon was talking about

Everyone was surprised that Sam knew Demiveemon's name. Sam could see this and she smiled before saying

Sam: he told me his name and the names of the others. You have unusual pets.

Demiveemon: hey we're not pets we're…

Davis put his hand over his digimon's mouth he didn't know weather Sam should know about digimon or not.

Davis: don't worry about him he…talks a lot of nonsense

Demiveemon looked a bit annoyed that Davis had stopped him.

Kari tried to change the subject, she introduced Yolei and Cody then asked

Kari: Sam, do you remember what happened?

Sam: um…let me think…the last thing I remember was when Matt had left. A few

minutes later I suddenly felt very weak. I guess I must of collapsed, how long

was I out for?

Tai: two days

Sam: what! Two days!

Then Kari remembered the drawing of their crests that Sam said she could have

Kari: Sam, do you remember the drawing you gave me?

Sam: yeah what about it?

Kari: do you remember when you drew it and why?

Sam: erm…I was eleven I think maybe twelve and on that particular day I was

extremely bored I walked around the house in search of something to do but I

couldn't find anything. So I sat on my bed thinking of something that I could do,

I was just doodling when an idea came to me so I got a clean piece of paper and

started to draw and by the time I had finished that's what I ended up with. I had

no idea what I just drew or where the idea came from. But why do you want to

know?

Kari: Oh just curious that's all, those symbols are really strange. Do you

know what they mean?

Sam: no I never thought they could mean anything after all they were just doodles

TK: Sam can you tell us where you got your necklace?

Sam: what is this… question time? What's with all the questions?

Tai: please Sam we need to know

Sam: well ok… which necklace TK I have loads

Yolei: this one

She picked it up and gave it to Sam who took it.

Sam: oh… this one

Looking at it

Sam: it's a very special necklace to me anyway

Cody: why is it special?

He was hoping Sam would be able to tell them if it was a crest or not and weather she was a Digidestined

Sam: well it was given to me by my father before he and my mother…spilt up

Sam sounded quite upset as she remember her parents divorce.

Davis: did you ever find out what that symbol means?

For once Davis had asked a good question and everyone was surprised it came from him instead of someone else.

Sam: no…(she laughed a little before continuing)…its funny thought dad said that my

Nan had told him to give this to me when I turned fourteen then she said the

weirdest thing…

Then the doorbell went but none of them heard it they were all to busy listening to what Sam had to say.

Sam: she said 'give this to Sam when she turns fourteen. She is destined to save a

world we know nothing about' my dad and I thought it was just her age talking.

'It wasn't her age' a voice said from the doorway, they all looked round to see Izzy standing in the doorway.

Tai: Izzy how long have you been standing there? And how did you get in?

Izzy: not long. I came to see how Sam was doing. And your mother let me in

Sam: well as you can see I'm awake

Izzy: prodigious!

Sam: what did you mean 'it wasn't her age'

Izzy walked in the room and closed the door before continuing to speak.

Izzy: Sam do you have or remember drawing something called a digivice?

Everyone looked at Sam expecting her to say 'a digi what?' but instead she surprise everyone except Izzy by saying

Sam: a digivice…a digivice…

Then she clicked her fingers and went over to a draw and started looking for something. Everyone watched as Sam continued searching, saying to herself 'I know it's in here somewhere'. Could she really have a digivice? A few minutes later Sam went back over to everyone she was holding a folded piece of paper then she gave it to Izzy

Sam: is this what you mean?

Izzy took the piece of paper, unfolded it and stared at it there on the piece of paper was a drawing of a digivice.

Izzy: yes that's it

TK: Izzy what's going on?

Izzy: I've discovered that Sam really IS a Digidestined

Everyone was shocked at this piece of news Izzy had just given them 'what!' they all said together

Sam: what's a Digidestined?

Cody: it's kind of hard to explain

Sam: hold everything, first all the questions then you tell me I'm a Digidestined what

ever that is. Would someone mind telling me what's going on?

Everyone looked at each other then gave a nod. Sam needed to know everything from the Digital World to what happened two days ago.

Kari: Sam I think you might want to sit down it's kind of a long story.

Sam sat on the bed with the digimon either side of her except Demiveemon who sat on Sam's lap. Then they all began to tell Sam everything about the digiworld and about how her necklace glowed. By the time they had finished it was nearly 5pm!

Sam looked at the digimon

Sam: sorry I called you pets

Poromon: that's ok, we forgive you

Then turning to Izzy

Sam: and you believe that I'm a Digidestined?

Izzy: I'm certain you are, you see your necklace isn't really a necklace at all it's a

Crest

Sam: a crest? You mean one of those weird symbols I drew

Izzy: uh huh that's why you drew your symbol in the top right hand corner of the

page and instead of Kari's

Sam: but I didn't even have this neck… er crest when I drew them.

Izzy: that's why you drew it so small and I bet you drew this shortly after you got the

Crest

Izzy turned the paper round so everyone could what was on it. Everyone (besides Izzy and Sam) were amazed at what they saw on the page

Tai: a digivice!

Sam: yeah… I drew it about an hour or two after I got it

Kari: but Izzy if Sam is a Digidestined how come she's never been to the Digiworld?

And how do you know she is a Digidestined?

Izzy: I'm not sure maybe it's because she's never had a digivice…

Before Izzy could answer Kari's second question there suddenly came bright flash from Sam's necklace it floated up and out of her hand then moved on it's own to the computer and landed on the keyboard. Everyone looked at it stunned, just then another bright flash came from the computer an out came a bright glowing object it moved towards Sam then stopped right in front of her it had stopped glowing but still hovered as if it wanted Sam to take it. Now that it had stopped glowing everyone could see what it was, it was a DIGIVICE but it was kind of different it looked like a digivice that the older Digidestined had but there was one slight difference this digivice was all white.

Sam: what do I do?

Kari: take it

Sam put her hand out to grab it she was shaking. She grabbed it then a voice said 'Greetings' Sam wanted to drop the digivice straight away but something in her mind told her not to that everything would be all right. Her shaking had calmed down a little and she managed to say

Sam: who…who said that?

She looked at the others but they all shook there heads, ' over here' the voice said

*-There's something familiar about that voice-* Tai thought. The voice spoke again 'here in the computer'

Sam: the computer?

Everyone went to the computer and saw an old man.

Tai: Gennai!

Yolei, Cody and Davis: who?

Gennai: hello everyone. It's been a long time

TK: it certainly has

Gennai: hello Sam

Sam looked shocked

Sam: h-how do you know my name? Do I know you?

Gennai: no but I know about you

This made Sam a little frightened *-how can he know me? What's going on?-* the more Sam thought about it the more frightened she became. Her shaking had come back and it was very noticeable. Tai was standing next to Sam and saw that she was shaking, he put his hand on her shoulder, which caused her to jump a little.

Tai: sorry you ok?

Sam couldn't speak so she nodded her head but she was still shaking. Gennai could see that the young girl was a little frightened.

Gennai: Sam, don't be frightened I'm not going to hurt you

At this Sam calmed down a little and her shaking stopped then she was finally able to ask

Sam: how do you know about me?

Gennai: come and see me and I'll explain all

Sam: huh?

Gennai: the others will explain.

Then he was gone. Sam picked her necklace/crest and put it around her neck. What was going on? Then she turned to the others and said

Sam: what does he mean go and see him?

Tai: he wants you to go to the Digital World

Sam: alone?

Sam wasn't happy at thought. Kari could see Sam was worried

Kari: maybe some of us could come with you

Sam nodded pleased that Kari had suggested the idea.

Tai: so who's going with Sam?

Davis: I'll go

Kari: me to

Davis' eyes lit up *-all alone in the Digiworld with Kari… and Sam this is great!-* he thought but it was short lived as he heard TK say

TK: I'll go too

Sam: thank you…all of you

Davis: I don't mean to change the subject or anything but I'm getting kind of hungry.

Everyone else except Sam agreed with Davis that they were all getting hungry. Everyone then went home to get something to eat, as Tai walked out of the room he turned to Sam and said

Tai: Sam you coming?

Sam: no I'm just going to stay here for a minute ok

Tai: ok

He knew something was troubling Sam but was too hungry to find out what,

So he turned and left. Sam went to the window and started to look out of it.

Gatomon came over to her

Gatomon: are you ok?

Sam looked at the digimon then back out the window

Sam: I don't know… Gatomon is it?

Gatomon: that's right

Sam: I just don't know

Gatomon: what's wrong?

Sam sighed then looked at the Digivice she held in her hand, of all the people in the world why her? She just couldn't figure it out what was so special about her? What did she have that no one else has? All these questions were racing though her mind

Sam: I'm sorry Gatomon

Gatomon: what for?

Sam: I just think things are going to fast

Gatomon looked confused. Sam looked out the window again then she continued

Sam: I just arrived a few days ago and in those few days all this has happened. I mean

I haven't even settled in properly yet!

A tear came to Sam's eye she tried to fight them but it was no use the tears had won and they were steaming down her face. She cried quietly so only Gatomon could hear her, she didn't want the others to know she was crying. Gatomon tried to comfort Sam but it was no use, Sam thanked the digimon for trying then went to her bed and cried herself to sleep. Gatomon sighed she felt sorry for Sam, with all the things happening to Sam she must feel very confused. Later that night Sam woke up unable to sleep anymore she sat up in bed and looked out the window *-it must be very late-* she thought. The sky was a very very dark blue it looked almost black, the stars looked like sliver dots in the night sky and some clouds were gathering but Sam couldn't tell if they were rain clouds or not it was to dark to tell. *-I need some fresh air-* she thought *-maybe a nice walk will help me get back to sleep-*. she stood up and went to the door but just as she was about to open it something caught her eye she walked back to her bed and stared it was her digivice. She could see it very clearly as if it were daytime she was about to pick it up went she thought *-NO! That's the reason I needed a walk in the first place. To help clear my mind of everything that's

Happened… and to try to fall back to sleep-* but against this thought she picked it up and put it in her pocket and proceeded out the door and the front door then out onto the street. She didn't know where she was going all she knew was that she needed air to help digest everything she had been told. She found herself at a river looking down at her reflection *-things are going to fast, I must slow them down so I can have time to adjust-* she thought to herself *-I won't go to the Digital World with the others tomorrow. I'll probably go in a week or two when I'm settled-*

The next day Kari awoke to find Sam gone, she ran to her brother's room and knocked fiercely on the door.

Kari: Tai! Tai!

She heard no answer so she went in, Tai was still sleeping so she tried again.

Kari: Tai! Tai!

Tai slowly opened his eyes he was still sleepy, which showed in his voice.

Tai: What?

Then he noticed it was Kari

Tai: Kari go away I'm trying to sleep

Then he turned his back on his sister closed his eyes and tried to go back to sleep

Kari: Tai, Sam's missing!

Tai didn't move. Kari shook her brother while saying

Kari: Tai, Sam's gone, wake up! Sam's missing

Finally Tai sat up he rubbed his eyes

Tai: what do you want Kari?

Still half asleep

*-If he doesn't get it this time I'll…-* she thought

Kari: Tai listen to me Sam is missing…gone…vanished!

Tai's eyes widen as he finally became awake, what Kari had said was like a splash of cold water.

Tai: what!

*-Finally!-* Kari thought. Tai ran to Kari and Sam's room and looked at Sam's empty bed it hadn't even been slept in or so he thought. Tai looked around for Sam digivice but couldn't find it, he turned to his sister who was now standing in the doorway.

Tai: Sam's digivice is gone too. Could she have gone to the Digiworld?

Kari: but her kind of digivice can't open the gate can it?

Gatomon: she didn't go to the Digiworld

Both Kari and Tai looked at Gatomon

Kari: how do you know that Gatomon?

Gatomon then told them about the conversation she had, had with Sam last night.

Kari: but if she thought things were going to fast why take her digivice with her?

Tai: she must have woken up late in the night and went to get some fresh air

Kari: but where would she go?

Tai slammed his fist against the wall then immediately regretted it.

Tai: we have to call the others so they can help us look for her

Kari nodded and helped Tai call all the Digidestined (all except Mimi who was in America). They all met in the Kamiya residence to decide what to do.

Joe: how long has she been gone for?

Kari: I don't know. I woke up this morning looked down at her bed and she was

gone. I hope she's ok

Sora: don't worry Kari we'll find her, won't we Tai

Tai: yeah of course we will

He was kind of blaming himself for Sam's disappearance *-I knew something was wrong with her why didn't I ask her what was wrong?-*

TK: but where would she go? She barely knows this town.

Matt: TK's right. Sam most likely went to get some fresh air and couldn't find her

way back.

Cody: all the more reason we should find her.

Yolei: there's one thing that puzzles me

Davis: what's that Yolei?

Yolei: well if Sam really thought that things were going to fast why take her digivice with her? I mean isn't that one of the reason she thinks things are going too fast.

Izzy: you've got a point there Yolei

Kari: yeah Tai and I were wondering the same thing

Matt: we can figure that out after we find Sam then maybe she could tell us.

Kari: right, we better start looking

They split into teams of two. There was:

Tai and Sora, Joe and Izzy, Matt and TK, Kari and Yolei, Davis and Cody.

They all looked everywhere they could think of that Sam might go. Davis was just about to say something to Cody when his digivice went off *beep beep beep* it went.

Davis: Cody I think I'm getting a signal from Sam's digivice. Either that or my

digivice has gone nuts.

Cody ignored Davis' last sentence.

Cody: which way Davis?

Davis: this way

So following Davis' digivice they went off going in whichever way it said to go. Soon they came to the river that Sam had been staring at last night but there was no sign of her, could she have fallen in?

*Beep beep beep* went Davis' digivice again

Davis: over there

They both stopped at a tree, which was a few meters away from the river. There was Sam sitting against the tree asleep both Cody and Davis went up to her and tried to wake her up, Cody shook Sam gently he was afraid that he let Davis do it he would of shook Sam too hard. Sam opened her eyes and saw Davis and Cody looking at her. She yawned before saying

Sam: what's up?

Davis: Sam we've been looking for you everywhere.

Sam: you have? Oh sorry I…needed time to think. What time is it?

Cody: it's 10.35

Looking at his watch

Davis: come on we've got to go to the Digiworld

Sam looked away from both of them

Sam: I'm not going

Cody: what? Why?

Sam was now looking down at the ground around her.

Davis: is this because you think things are moving to fast?

Sam looked immediately at Davis

Sam: who told you that!

She snapped

Cody and Davis looked a little surprised and jumped back a little.

Davis: G-G-Gatomon

Sam: oh…sorry I snapped at you I didn't mean to. I guess I should have know it was

Gatomon

Davis: is it the reason?

Sam: partly

Cody: what's the other reason?

Sam got up dusted herself down and walked back to the river, Davis and Cody followed her keeping a little distance just in case she would snap again. She looked at her reflection once more and sighed before replying

Sam: if I go to the Digital World I know things will progress faster than they are now.

I don't want that…

Then she turned to Davis and Cody

Sam: …that's why I'm not going. I'm sorry

Cody: that's ok

Sam: are you sure? I know you all wanted me to go with you

Davis: yeah it's ok

Sam: thanks

Then she smiled

*-Whoa cute smile-* Davis thought *-did I just think that… nah I couldn't have I love Kari-* Cody looked at his watch it was 10.50am and they were suppose to be back at Tai's by 10.40am.

Cody: uh oh

Sam: what's wrong?

Cody: we were suppose to back at Tai's ten minutes ago

Sam: I'm not going back. Not yet anyway…

Turning back to look at the river.

Davis: and besides we're not that late

Cody looked at Davis. Then Davis was about to ask Sam why she didn't want to go back when it seemed like Sam had read his mind and answered his question before he asked it.

Sam: …because they'll just talk me into going, and I don't want to go not yet.

Cody: well we can't leave you here

Without thinking Davis said

Davis: I'll stay with Sam

Both Sam and Cody were surprised at what Davis had just said.

So was Davis *-did I just say that-* he thought

Sam: o….k thanks Davis

So while Cody went back to the others Davis stayed with Sam.
