Chapter 4 - Acceptance

When Cody got back to the others he apologised for being late then told everyone what had happened.

Yolei: Davis said he would stay with Sam. Are we talking about the same Davis here?

Cody: I know it sounds amazing but that's what happened

Kari: well TK and I will still go and see if there is anything Gennai can tell us that might help. Anyone else want to come?

Yolei: I'll go with you

Matt: I'll go to

Izzy: I stand by the computer just in case you guys need help

Sora: I'll go and see Sam. See if there's anything can do to help.

Joe: I'll go with you Sora

Cody: I'll take you back to them then

Sora: thanks Cody

Matt: what are going to do Tai?

Tai: huh? Oh I'll go with Sora and Joe

Still thinking it was partly his fault for Sam going off.

TK: ok. Let's go

So they all set off Matt, Kari, TK and Yolei went to Digiworld to see Gennai. Sora, Joe and Tai followed Cody back to Davis and Sam while Izzy watched the computer in case the others needed help.

In the Digiworld Matt, Kari, TK and Yolei were sitting at a table with their digimon in Gennai's place.

Gennai: so where's Sam?

They all looked at each other wondering what to say finally Kari spoke

Kari: she didn't want to come

Gennai: really?

Kari: yeah she felt that…

Gennai: things are going to fast

Finishing Kari's sentence

Gatomon: yeah… but how did you know

Gennai: (sigh) I was afraid of this

TK: huh? You mean you knew she wasn't going to come

Gennai: yes I did

Matt: then why didn't you tell us?

Gennai: I was hoping that Sam's curiosity would out weight her fear

All: huh?

Gennai: you see, Sam has always know about the Digiworld but not consciously, and

she has always feared it

TK: but why?

Gennai: you all remember when you saw Greymon fight Parrotmon back in your

world

Matt: yeah, so what about it?

Yolei: huh? What? I didn't see that

Kari: it was back when our original group were picked to be the Digidestined

Yolei: oh no wonder I didn't see it

Gennai: Sam was there too

TK: so how come we never saw her

Gennai: because she was hiding

Matt: hiding?

Gennai: her family were on their way to the airport after having a holiday in Japan.

Somehow Sam got separated from her parents and ended up watching the

fight.

Matt: but you still haven't told us why Sam's scared to come to the Digiworld.

Gennai: because she thought they were attacking her. She was near enough the

middle of the fight hence the reason she was hiding.

Hawkmon: so how do we convince her the Digiworld isn't that bad?

Gennai: you've already half convinced her. She just needs a little more convincing to

dispel her fears

Yolei: we have?

Gennai: yes, by telling her of your adventures here and by meeting your digimon,

she's now discovered that not everything in the Digiworld is not that bad.

Then Kari remembered about Sam's crest and the drawing Sam had done. She reached in her pocket to see if she still had the drawing, she hadn't but she decided to ask Gennai about them anyway if anyone knew about Sam's crest it would be Gennai.

Kari: Gennai do you know what Sam's crest means?

Gennai: yes it is the crest of Honesty

Gabumon: Honesty?

Kari: Gennai, Sam drew a picture of all our crests except mine instead she drew hers

very small in a corner. Do you know why that is?

Gennai: yes

Patamon: why then?

Gennai: because Sam was supposed to be one of the original Digidestined

Everyone was shocked at this piece of news 'what!' they all cried.

Gennai: it's true, but when we found out she didn't live with the rest of you. We had

to choose a new Digidestined, someone else who saw the digimon fighting.

Kari: me

Gennai: yes, even though we always had you in mind we thought that nine

Digidestines would have been too much. Eight seemed like a better number.

Gatomon: but why is Sam's crest like a piece of jewellery?

Gennai: when Sam left, we figured that there was no further need for the crest

of Honesty. But we kept it just in case it was ever needed, We made it like a

piece of jewellery so Sam would except it. We kept the digiegg it belong to

also. We always knew there would be a time when the crest of Honesty

would be needed when a new evil would arise.

Yolei: and now is that time?

Gennai gave a nod

TK: so that's why you wanted Sam to come here so she could meet her digimon

Gennai: yes and also so she could learn a little bit more about herself and not to be

afraid of the Digiworld.

Gabumon: may we meet Sam's digimon?

Gennai turned to the door and said ' ok you can come in now'

'Is she here yet?' a little voice came from the door. Everyone looked towards the door they saw a little digimon it looked like a Koromon but instead of those long pink ears, it had little orange ears that looked like cat ears. In the middle of it forehead was what looked like a little stump about a centimetre in height and it was blue in colour the rest of the digimon was orange like it's ears. (+author's note: ok I know that it doesn't look like a Koromon but it was the best way I could think of to describe it. end authors note.+)

'Is she here yet?' the little digimon asked again with enthusiasm in its voice.

Gennai: no I'm afraid not

'Oh' it said sounding disappointed

Gennai: but these are some of Sam's friends

Putting his hand towards the others

Gennai: and they would like to meet you

'Really' the little thing said perking up

Everyone watched as the digimon bounced over and introduced it's self.

'Hi I'm Foalmon, please to meet you' it smiled

Gennai: as you may have guessed Foalmon is Sam's digimon.

Gabumon, Patamon, Gatomon and Hawkmon went over to the new digimon

'Hi' they all said 'hi' it replied

Turning to the others Gennai said

Gennai: I want you to do me a favour

Yolei: what's that?

Gennai: I want you to take Foalmon back with you

Kari: but how can we do that? Sam's not with us

Gennai: not yet anyway

This had confused them all 'huh?' they all said in unison.

Gennai went on to explain what he meant while the digimon talked among themselves.

Cody had led Tai, Sora and Joe back to Sam and Davis. At first no one could see them then Joe noticed them sitting by a tree. Cody was about to go up with the others to see them then stopped as he noticed something strange *-are they holding hands or is it my imagination-* he thought. The others noticed Cody was no longer following them and went back to see what was wrong apparently they hadn't seen the same thing he did. Then Davis noticed them.

Davis: hey guys

He called out then got up and helped Sam up then they both walked over to them.

Sam: hi

Sora: hi Sam, Davis

Sam: I don't mean to be rude or anything but what are you doing here?

Tai: we came to see if you were all right

Sam: well as you can see I'm fine.

Joe: and to see if there's anything that we could help you with

Sam looked puzzled for a minute then realised what Joe meant.

Sam: oh no it's ok Davis has explained everything

Everyone looked at Davis in surprise

Davis: what? What I do?

Tai was the first to speak

Tai: you explained everything to Sam?

Still amazed it was Davis who had explained everything and not somebody else.

Davis: yeah she wanted to know about the Digiworld so I told her

Sam smiled. *-He told her everything huh… hmmm I wonder-* Cody thought as he remember that he saw Sam and Davis holding hands *-maybe I wasn't imagining things after all-*

Cody: Davis can I talk to you a second

Davis: sure Cody what is it?

Cody: alone

Davis: k

Cody: excuse us a minute

Then they went off and stood by the river, they weren't very far from the others but far enough so no one could hear what they were talking about.

Tai: wonder what that's all about?

Sora: Tai don't be so nosy

*-He knows! That's what they're talking about me and…-* Sam's thoughts were interrupted by Joe saying

Joe: so Sam are you sure your alright now?

Sam: hm… oh yeah I'm fine thanks Joe

Then Tai remembered why he had come to see Sam and not gone with the others to the Digital World.

Tai: Sam I want to apologise…

This totally confused Sam, she turned to Tai and said

Sam: huh? What for?

Tai: yesterday I could see something was bothering you yet I didn't ask you about it

instead I just left you

Tai hung his head and Sam put a hand on his shoulder

Sam: Tai don't blame yourself even if you had stayed and talked to me. I would of

still gone off, it wasn't your fault in fact (sigh) I'm glad you did leave me alone.

Tai raised his head, it was now his turn to be confused

Tai: huh? Your glad I left you without a friend to talk to? I don't get it

Sam laughed a little before saying

Sam: even though you could see I needed someone to talk, you could also see that I

needed to be alone with my thoughts so I could figure a few things out.

She smiled before continuing

Sam: and besides you didn't totally leave me alone I had Gatomon to talk to.

Everyone laughed

Tai: thanks Sam

Sam: anytime that's what friends are for

Sora then changed the subject

Sora: so Sam, considering Davis has told you everything you needed to know when

are you planning on going to the Digiworld?

Sam: soon

Joe: great well it looks like this problems solved. Even though we didn't solve it.

Sora: yeah who would of thought it would have been Davis that sorted it out.

At this everyone laughed. Then Sam saw Cody and Davis returning, Cody had half a shocked look on his face as if he was trying to get over the biggest shock of his life and Davis looked a little sad *-he's told him!-* then she snapped out of her thought and said

Sam: here come Davis and Cody

Tai: is Cody ok? He looks like he's just been slapped

Joe: hey Cody you ok?

Cody: yeah… I'm fine

Sora: what's with you Davis? Why the sad face?

Davis: huh? Oh it's nothing

Trying to catch Sam's eye as if he needed to tell her something, it worked. Sam gave a little nod to say she understood, then wondered how they could talk then it came to her.

Sam: shouldn't we be getting back?

Joe: yeah your right the others should be back soon

So they all started back, Sam and Davis walked a little behind the others so they could talk without anyone listening or so they thought Cody was only a little in front of them and could hear bits of their conversation.

Sam: (low voice) ……..You told him?

Davis: (low voice) …….. I had to

Sam: why?

Davis: he saw……… I couldn't deny it could I

Sam: yes……… Imagination

Davis: yeah………. Thinking again

Sam: don't put yourself down………….. Tell anyone

Davis: ………. Not to

Then they stopped talking and caught up with the others. They didn't say another word to each other until they reached their destination the computer lab at Davis and Cody's school. They went in and found Izzy looking at a computer

Tai: hey Izzy

Izzy turned and looked at them

Izzy: hi guys, you're just in time the others should be back soon.

Joe: great we'll be able to find out if they found out anything

Sam: where'd they go?

Then immediately thought *-well that was a stupid question Sam-*

Sora: they went to see Gennai

Izzy: to see if he could explain a few things

Sam: oh ok

They were all amazed at Sam answer (all except Davis that is) here was a person who thought 'things were going to fast'. A person that had gone off in the night causing all to worry and all she could say was 'oh ok' *-looks like Davis did a good job explaining everything-* Sora thought but she still couldn't believe it was Davis who had. Then a voice came from the computer 'hey Izzy' it said but Izzy didn't hear his name being called, he was still amazed at Sam answer.

Sam: don't you think you better answer that Izzy?

Izzy: huh?

'Izzy!' the voice said again

Izzy: oh

Turning back to the computer.

Izzy: sorry Yolei

Yolei: that's ok

Izzy: you guys coming back now?

TK: in a minute

Kari: is Sam there?

Sam walked behind Izzy

Sam: yeah I'm here Kari. What's up?

Kari: do you still have your digivice with you Sam?

Sam: y-yeah why?

Wondering what was going on, so was everyone else in the room.

Matt: could you hold it out towards the computer?

Sam: huh? Why would I want to do that?

Yolei: please

Sam: (sigh) ok

She took her digivice out of her pocket and held it in front of the computer.

Sam: now what?

TK: now we come back with a little surprise for you.

Sam: huh?

Sam didn't like the sound of that 'a little surprise' could mean anything! Then Sam heard Yolei say 'digiport open' the next thing Sam knew they were all standing in front of her (if you can call it standing that is)

Sam: how'd you do that?

Kari: what? Oh you mean get here?

Sam: yeah

Yolei: we came though the gate

Sam: gate?

She looked around but couldn't see any gate, just some computers and the others.

Izzy: she means the computer

Trying to simplify what Yolei had just said

Sam: oh ok

But in her mind she was still thinking *-huh?-* but decided not to say anything.

Sora: what did you guys find out?

Kari: first we have something for Sam

This made Sam remember what TK had said 'a little surprise'. Kari smiled then looked at the digimon that had come back with them

Kari: ok now you can

Sam: huh?

Patamon: right

Flying over to Sam

Patamon: we've got a little friend we'd like you to meet

Gatomon and Poromon stepped forward with Foalmon.

Gatomon: this is Foalmon

Introducing the little digimon to Sam

Poromon: this is Sam Foalmon

Foalmons eyes lit up, it bounced over to Sam and jumped into her arms. She caught it instinctively and looked a bit puzzled. She looked at the digimon in her arms then at others then back at the digimon she was holding.

Foalmon: hi Sam, I've been waiting for you for a very long time

Then it smiled

Sam dropped the digimon immediately and started to walk back, Foalmon hit the floor but still smiled then started to bounce towards Sam.

Sam: w-w-what do you mean you've been waiting for me?

She kept walking back while Foalmon kept bouncing forward finally Sam came up against the window she was hoping the little thing following her would stop as well and not come any closer but it kept coming. Then Foalmon stopped right in front of her and said

Foalmon: don't be frighten of me Sam, I'm not going to hurt you.

But Sam wasn't so sure she still pressed against the window trying to get as much distance as she could between the little digimon and herself.

Kari as about to go up to Sam to say that everything was going to be ok, when TK put his hand on her shoulder she looked at him and he shook his head. She smiled at him and turned her attention back to Sam and Foalmon then noticed that Davis was heading for Sam and Foalmon *-what does he think he's going to do?-* she thought.

Sam was so busy watching Foalmon she didn't notice Davis coming towards her until he picked up the digimon.

Sam: w-what are doing?

Davis: Sam don't be afraid of Foalmon. It's your digimon it won't hurt you

Sam: mine? What do you mean mine?

A bit confused as how this little thing could be hers

Davis: yours, you know to keep

Sam could help but give a little laugh at what Davis had just said.

Sam: I know what 'yours' means Davis. I'm not that stupid you know!

This time it was Davis' turn to laugh he didn't mean to but what Sam just said had sounded so funny the way she said it, but Sam didn't see the funny side and got a bit angry. She pushed passed Davis and started to walk towards the door everyone tried to stop her but she moved out of way so they missed her then continued towards the door and disappeared.

TK: way to go Davis! Now we have to go find her again!

Kari: I don't think it will be that hard this time TK

Yolei: huh? Why do you think that Kari?

Kari: well the way I see it she'll either return to where she was found earlier or go

home

Tai: Kari's right, so half of us will go back to the river and half of us will go back to

my place

Davis sighed and looked at the window

Davis: count me out

Still holding Foalmon

Tai: what! Why?

Davis: becoz I'll probably mess things up again. Like I always do

Everyone had to agree with him there but it wasn't like Davis when out of his way to mess things up it was something that happened.

Davis: I'm just gonna go home

And off he went, still carrying Foalmon in his arms. Everyone except Cody had excepted Davis' reason for not going to find Sam. Cody didn't except Davis' reason because he knew the REAL reason Davis wasn't going to help, he wanted to talk to Davis but he knew they had to find Sam first. So they all set off to search for Sam (once again!) Tai, Cody, Yolei, TK and Izzy all went to Tai's place. Kari, Matt, Joe and Sora all went to the river to see if Sam was there.

At the Kamiya residence Sam stood on the balcony wondering about all the things that happened before she left, it was all coming back to her now the fight she saw when she was ten. Then she wondered why Davis had laughed at her when she said she wasn't stupid, did he think she was stupid or something? And that digimon what was it's name Foalmon? It said it was hers but how was that possible? Sam was so deep in thought that she didn't hear the front door opening and her name being called. By the time Sam came out of her thought and noticed her name being called it was too late someone had already spotted her. It was TK and she heard him say 'hey guys I've found her' she didn't turn round when TK spoke to her, she just kept looking at the city hoping that if she didn't answer they'd go away but she was wrong.

Through the corner of her eyes she could see that there was two people either side of her.

Tai: Sam you ok?

*-So Tai is on my right who's my left? How can I get out of this?-* she thought

Cody: Sam?

*-So it's Cody on my left. I hope the others aren't anywhere near, I wonder if Davis is with them-* she was not answering anyone hoping they would leave her alone. But she was only making them more worried

TK: Sam what's wrong?

Still she didn't reply, so Izzy and Yolei tried to get an answer out of Sam with no luck *-so guess that answers a few of my questions. Davis MUST think I'm stupid, as he hasn't come here to apologise for laughing at me, if that digimon was mine it would be here but it isn't so I guess they were wrong-* she thought. Then she looked at the crest around her neck she held it up with her left hand to get a better look, then she looked in her right hand where she was still holding her digivice she brought them together then thought *-these are the two main reasons things are so difficult to comprehend-*. She lifted her arm to throw the digivice but someone caught her arm before she could do it. She looked round at Tai as if seeing him for the first time and wondered why he stopped her

Sam: Tai?

She finally said

Sam: why?

Looking at her wrist Tai's hand had stopped Sam throwing the digivice

Tai just smiled which made Sam a little more confused, why had stopped her?

Cody: Sam I think we need to talk

Sam: Cody?

She was still looking at Tai as she said it still wondering why he'd stopped her

Tai: Sam don't throw it away you're a part of the team now

Sam: huh?

This just wasn't making any sense to Sam. Cody was right they did need to talk, she turned to Cody for the first time since he got there and said

Sam: talk? Yeah I think your right I'm a bit confused

TK: well it looks like Davis didn't do a good job explaining things after all

But Sam didn't hear TK she was still wondering why Tai still had hold of her wrist

She turned back to Tai

Sam: Tai, if you don't mind I'd like my wrist back

Tai: only if you promise you won't throw your digivice

Then he smiled

Sam looked a bit surprised she had forgot she was holding her digivice. She looked up at it then thought *-I've been such a idiot!-* she smiled

Sam: sure, I've been a idiot

Tai laughed then said

Tai: no, you were scared everything happened so fast you that didn't know how to

react.

Then Sam finally realised that what Davis laughed at earlier he wasn't laughing at her he was laughing at what she had said *-it must of sounded very funny-* she thought as she tried to remember how she said then smiled, she owed Davis an apology.

Tai let Sam's wrist go and she put her arm down.

Sam: (sigh) I owe Davis an apology. Know where he is?

She turned to walk indoors to find TK, Yolei and Izzy behind her

Sam: may I get though

They all looked at each other wondering that if they let her through would she go off again, Sam saw this.

Sam: don't worry I'm only going to sit down… promise

They let her pass and she did just what she said she would and sat down, they all followed her and all sat down themselves (all except Tai who went over to the phone)

Izzy: Sam, why do you owe Davis an apology?

Sam: because I thought he was laughing at me not what I said. By the way where is

Davis?

Yolei: he…

Tai: is on his way.

Interrupting Yolei who looked confused, as did the others.

TK: on his way?

Tai: yeah

Putting the phone down on the table in of him then taking a seat next Izzy (as it was the only seat left.)

Sam: I understand now, all the things you've told me it all makes sense. Although I

still have a few questions.

Izzy: fire away

So Sam asked her questions and the others tried to answer them as best they could to answer them.

Sam: ok last question

At this they were a bit relived

Sam: where's Foalmon?

They all laughed and as if on cue the doorbell went

Tai: now either Kari's forgot her key or that's Davis… with Foalmon

He added that as an answer to Sam question

Sam gave a nod she hoped it was Davis so she could apologise, but it turned out to be Kari with Matt, Sora and Joe.

Sam: forget your key?

Kari: yeah

Tai: you didn't happen to see Davis on the way back did you?

Matt: no why?

Sam: I owe him an apology and would like to see Foalmon again

Just as Tai was about to close the door he heard a voice shouting his name 'Tai, Tai wait up' it said. Tai popped his head out the door and saw Davis running up with Foalmon in one arm and Demiveemon I the other.

Tai: hey Davis, hurry up

When Davis reached the door he said to Tai

Davis: you try running with two digimon under your arms!

Tai just laughed and let him in

When Davis walked in the first thing he heard was 'FOALMON!' he recognised Sam's voice

Davis: nice to see you as well Sam

Sam laughed as Foalmon jumped out of Davis' arm and went to Sam.

Sam picked up the little digimon and hugged it then went over to Davis

Sam: Davis I owe you an apology…

Davis: huh?

Sam: …I thought you were laughing at me earlier not at what said I'm sorry. Things

have just been rather strange lately

She smiled

Davis: it's ok Sam

They walked back to the others then Sam looked at Foalmon and said

Sam: I understand now

Foalmon smiled and replied

Foalmon: I know

Then a bright light came from Sam necklace/crest she picked it up and it turned from a necklace into a tag and crest just like the others had.

I decided to end it there because I thought it was dragging on a bit. So what did you all think? I might do a sequel to it but I'm not sure yet. Well I hope you all liked it J
