Attempt number three.

Here's the next chapter. Keep in mind that what I have written about kisses between girls is from Alice's and Rosemon's points of view. It does NOT represent my opinion on the matter.

Chapter 3

Nightmares

Alice spent the day thinking. **So to go to the Central sector I need to find a portal and open it. The problem is I have no way of finding any portal, and even if I do, there is no way to tell which world it leads to. After all there are four other sectors. That means 20% chance, which is too low. And of course, there is the problem of opening it. In other words, the task is next to impossible. It would be so much simpler if I could turn a PC into a portal like on the TV show. But that would require a D-3.** She sighed. **I wish I could speak with the three again. Maybe I could trick them into telling me more.** (A/N: Ever heard "Ask and you shall receive" or "Be careful what you wish for. You might get it"?)

She kept thinking about it for the rest of the day, but couldn't think of anything useful.

Alice had dinner, then she returned to her room and went to sleep. She was as quiet as usual, only a bit lost in thoughts, but no one noticed.

<Alice's dream… uh, nightmare>

As soon as she got asleep, she found herself on the ground of a place she had never seen before. Large black clouds hid the sky. All colors were dark (but at least there were any colors). It was windy, although the wind wasn't strong. The wind's direction was opposite of the direction she was looking at. She took a quick look around, but saw no one. Then she heard a voice.

"Welcome, Alice."

Alice knew that voice. She had heard it before. It was the voice of the dark Zeon of dreams.

"Oh, no! Not you again! What do you want now?"

"Same thing as before." The familiar ball of yellow light appeared before her. "I want you to accept my power. And before you say "No" again, let me tell you a few things. First, we "forgot" to mention one very important detail about us. You see, we can turn dreams into reality. So if you get hurt in a dream, the wound is still there when you wake up. If you die in a dream, you never wake up. And unless you have a Zeon to protect you, we can force you to stay in a dream longer than you want."

"In other words you're not going to let me wake up unless I accept."

"Precisely."

"And what about the other two?"

"We're here as well." Answered the voice of the neutral one and the other two balls of light appeared before her next to the first.

"Any way I could make you leave me alone?"

"Only one. You must win. But this time it will be for real." Answered the dark one.

"Another game, eh? And what are the rules?"

"Quite simple. There are three special digimon somewhere in this world. All of them have the sign of the Hazard on an easily visible part of their body. You must find them and destroy them. While doing so however you'll meet other digimon as well. For example, ArcaDemon Mega. You need not destroy these digimon. You are free to do anything you like, but so are we. It's as simple as that."

"All that trouble just to get rid of you? Don't you think I should receive some kind of compensation about all the trouble you're causing me?"

"What kind of compensation exactly?"

"Well, I'm a bit curious if there really are any portals leading from our world to yours, where they are and how can they be opened. Three questions and three digimon to destroy. I'm sure you understand what I have in mind."

"Perfectly. Very well, it doesn't make any difference since you won't be able to destroy any of the three." The other two Zeons agreed with the dark one.

"Well then, what are we waiting for?" Asked the blond girl.

"Let the game begin." Said the three Zeons in unison and vanished.

Alice took another look around. She was standing on an open ground. The land in all directions was rocky; there was hardly any grass and no bushes or trees. There was no sign which way she must go to find the digimon she had to destroy.

"All alone in the middle of nowhere. Great. Just great." She said sarcastically. "It could be worse, of course, for example I could be in the World of Darkness. But nonetheless I'm not staying here more than it is necessary." **Let's see. This is some kind of nightmare reality, but it's still in my dream. So I make the rules. Or at least part of them. Let's see what I can do.**

She concentrated and felt the presence of several different digimon. It didn't take her long to identify them and find the ones with hazard signs. The three she had to destroy were Rosemon, WarGreymon and Puppetmon. There were also ArcaDemon, Gallantmon CM, Beelzemon BM, Imperialdramon PM, Sakuyamon and MegaGargomon.

**It looks easy. Too easy, in fact. Why are these three the hazard digimon? They are the weakest. Why not the strongest? Something is wrong here. I need to be careful.**

Now that she knew what she's up against, it was time for Alice to act. Like the previous night she turned herself in Lilithmon and made her own D-ark and deck of digimon cards. Then she flew up in the air and headed in the direction of Rosemon, who was the nearest of her targets. She could sense ArcaDemon on her way, but she had already thought of a way to deal with him. When she had the horrible thing in sight, she stopped and waited. The Digimon was grayish-white with purple markings and claws. Wing arms were gray, with bluish wings. He looked big and evil and had small head with purple hair. Four wings. Kind of like Cyberdramon on positions. Purple on chest, arms, legs and shoulder. His chest was big on top, then small, then large again. Looked like a cat with its mouth open. It appeared to have teeth, and everything. Right under what would be the cat's eyes were purple marks. 3 Black markings on each outer forearm. The middle mark was a big slit, with a red oval in it, like an eye. The bewitching beast didn't waste any time and started charging his Dot Matrix attack.

Lilithmon waited patiently until she was sure his attack was fully charged and there was no way for the creature to stop it, then she concentrated and teleported the beast in front of Imperialdramon Paladin Mode. He managed to dodge the attack at the last possible second and attacked the virus enraged. Alice couldn't see them, but she sensed them starting to fight as she had intended. She smiled and continued on her way.

Some time later the feminine Mega felt the bewitching beast's destruction. **Perfect timing, Imperialdramon.** In the distance she could already see Gallantmon Crimson Mode approaching her, ready for an attack. She allowed him to reach her, then when he moved in to attack she teleported him in front of Imperialdramon PM. Almost immediately the two started fighting. The virus continued on her way. She could feel she had nearly reached her first target: Rosemon.

Rosemon was lying on her back on a bed of grass. Unlike the rest of this world the ground here was covered by lush grass. The plant digimon was in the middle of a circle of grass ten meters in diameter, surrounded by a small number of trees and bushes. She was waiting for the one she had to defeat. She didn't know who it is, but she knew that the person is coming and will reach her sooner or later.

~ Get ready. She's coming. ~ The voice spoke to her directly in her head. Rosemon knew this voice. It was the voice of her master. She had never seen him, but she had heard his voice before, when he warned her about the enemy that is coming. Even though no one had told her she knew it was her master that had created her and she must obey his every command no matter what it is. All the voice wanted from her was to defeat someone who would come to destroy her. The plant woman knew in her heart that she is a sacrifice meant to reveal the power of the one she had to kill. She was sure she would be the one to die, but she could do nothing about it. It was the way she had been created. Rosemon was a servant, nothing more, and had to obey. She had no idea that this world isn't real, that it is just a dream. Not that it would matter. She was crated only to die in battle. And soon she would.

**Now let us see what you have in store for us, Alice.** The Neutral Zeon prepared to watch the destruction of his creation.

Rosemon got in the air. She took a quick look at the hazard sign on her right hand. **Hopefully I won't need the power boost. Ah, who am I kidding? I'll probably need not only this, but my last ace as well. And it may still not be enough.** She returned her attention to the barren land up ahead. A small black dot was flying towards her. It was time.

Lilithmon slowed down when she noticed something she hadn't expected in the distance. She could already see Rosemon's figure growing larger with the decrease in distance. But it wasn't her that caught the Mega's attention. No, it was the fact that the plant digimon was above a small glade of sorts, surrounded by trees and bushes. She had not expected to see anything living in this world, except for her and the digimon she had to destroy.

**Grass, bushes and trees. I'll take that as a warning that this fight isn't going to be as easy as it seems. I better prepare.** She quickly swiped three cards through her D-ark. **There. That should be enough.** She continued her flight.

Rosemon watched her target close on her. The approaching digimon looked like a woman dressed in some kind of black robe that left the top of her chest visible. She had black hair. The plant woman didn't bother looking for more details. After all, soon one of the two would be dead. She prepared to fight.

Lilithmon stopped when she was few meters away from her first target. From this distance she could easily see the hazard sign on the digimon's right hand.

"I hope you're ready to meet your end."

"Dream on, demon. Rose Spear!" Rosemon's hand transformed into a spear and she tried to pierce Lilithmon with it. The viral Mega had not expected such speed from her opponent so she barely dodged the attack.

**I'm beginning to understand why she's one of my opponents. But speed alone won't be enough to beat me.** "Digi-modify! Hyper Speed activate!" The demon woman pressed one of the buttons on her D-ark and her speed increased greatly. "So you like spears. Well let's see if you'll like this one. Darkness Spear!" A spear made of pure darkness appeared in the woman's hand and was thrown at her victim, who dodged it, but it distracted her for a second, which was the idea behind the attack.

"Nazar Nail!" With incredible speed Lilithmon reached her opponent and tried to strike her with the nails on her right hand. Rosemon managed to catch the hand with her own in the last moment. But it was taking both of her hands just holding the Demon Empress' hand in place. "You won't be able to hold my hand for much longer. And you can't try anything else because this is taking all your strength. You're going to lose and you know it."

**She's right. I need to think of some way to distract her so that I could concentrate on the power of the Hazard. But what? Of course, I could always… No, that's disgusting. There must be some other way.** Half a minute later she knew she had no choice. Disgusting or not, it was her only chance. **I can't believe I have to do this! But if I don't, I'm dead for sure. I just hope she isn't a woman who likes this kind of thing.**

Without thinking anymore Rosemon moved her head forth and pressed her lips against Lilithmon's. The virus remained stunned for a second, surprised by what had just happened. Then her face turned into a grimace and she spat to the side. She felt disgusted. Another woman had just kissed her. The fact that the kiss had been brief, barely more than a second, didn't matter at all to her. It was disgusting all the same.

Rosemon pulled away from her assailant as soon as her lips parted from the lips of the viral Mega. She fought down her disgust of what she had just done and her need to spit long enough to concentrate for a few moments and activate the Hazard. The sign on her right hand started flashing. After that she finally gave in to her desires and started spitting.

"Yuck! That was disgusting!"

"The feeling is mutual, I assure you. I would never do that if I had a choice. Unfortunately I didn't. I needed a little time, only a few seconds, and this was the only sure way. I'm glad to see you share my opinion about kisses between women. If you had liked it, I'm not sure what the result would be."

"Kisses won't save you."

"I know. Now let's end this, shall we? Thorn Whip!"

Lilithmon dodged the first hit and activated another one of her cards. "Digi modify! Taomon's Talisman Spell activate!" Taomon's barrier surrounded the Mega.

"Thorn Whip!" This time the attack found the intended target and destroyed the shield around the virus. Exactly as planned by Lilithmon. It had bought her the time she needed for her attacks. "Phantom Pain!" A cloud of blackness encased the plant digimon and pain surged through her body. "Eden Lost!" Rosemon had no idea what this attack might be so she remained in place unsure how to react. A massive skull, burning with black fire on the inside, collided with her body and the following explosion sent her flying helplessly a few feet back. The darkness and the pain vanished, but the damage was already done. She fell down and remained lying on the ground.

"You lost, my dear."

"That's what you think. I will NOT be defeated! Not like this. Not here and now. I will NOT lose! I refuse to accept it!"

"And what are you…" Lilithmon didn't finish. Before her eyes the plant woman was surrounded by red light and red flames of sort and was hidden from her sight. The ball of light and flame grew to the size of a Megidramon. Then it vanished without a trace and revealed the last digimon the viral Mega wanted to see. It was a large red dragon with acid dripping from his (or her, it was impossible to tell) mouth. It had long sharp claws on its hands and a rapidly flashing Hazard sign could be seen in the middle of its chest. The lower part of the dragon's body was like a serpent and ended with a snake-like tail. It had two large red and yellow bat-like wings on the back. She had never seen this digimon, but she had heard of him before and she recognized him.

"Aw, crap. Hey, I thought this is going to be between Rosemon and me alone. No one else."

"Obviously no one explained the meaning of the Hazard sign to you." It was Megidramon that had spoken. The voice sounded very much like Rosemon's, only a bit deeper and more growling.

"Ro-… Rosemon?"

"Not any more. You still think you're going to win?"

"Certainly." Lilithmon pointed her hand at Megidramon and it (the hand, not the Mega) glowed with purple light. "Hell Storm!" A black cloud appeared above the dragon and a purple lightning coming from it hit the Mega that was once Rosemon and paralyzed it. Then meteorites started falling down on the immobilized monster. They were made of some sort of purple crystal and were falling down on waves. Each wave consisted of one meteorite with the size of an average human's head and another twenty, each with the size of an average human's fist. Megidramon took the first four, but the fifth one deleted the serpent.

"Only five? I'm disappointed. I thought it would take at least six such strikes to destroy that monster. Hey, you three! I know you're watching! We had a deal. Where is my answer?"

~ You still have two more to destroy. When you have defeated all three you shall receive the answers you seek as promised. ~ Answered the voice of the light one.

"Is that so. Well, it won't take long." **Especially now that I know what you have prepared for me.**

Lilithmon concentrated for a second and found her next victim: WarGreymon. He was somewhere ahead and a bit to her left. Without wasting any time she used her recharge card and headed towards her next battle.

WarGreymon took another look at his surroundings. Rocks and small lava lakes. Nothing else. It was hot due to the heat emitted from the lava, but for the dragon warrior it meant nothing. He was patiently waiting as he had been for the past few hours. He had awakened on this forsaken place and as soon as he had gotten up, he had heard a voice in his head. A voice that explained why he's here and what must be done.

~ It is time. The first Guardian was defeated. Now she is coming for you. You know what to do. Lilithmon must be stopped at all cost. You must not fail! ~

"No need to worry master. I won't." **At last the wait is over.** In the distance he could see a small dot steadily growing larger and moving in his direction. **That must be her. Finally.** He prepared for battle.

Lilithmon could already see her target in the distance. He was waiting. A large Hazard sign could be seen on his chest. She ignored him for the moment and took a look at the battle arena. It turned out to be a group of lava lakes with some rocks separating them. It looked hot, but the dragon looked like he doesn't care.

**Here we go again. Only this time I don't have the type advantage. But I have something else to make up for that.** She touched her D-arc for a second.

The dragon warrior didn't take his eyes off her while she approached him. When they were meters away he spoke. "So you are Lilithmon. I've been waiting for you. Let's get this over with, shall we?"

"Fine with me. Digi modify! WarGreymon!" She activated one of the pre-used cards.

"Terra Force!"

The two energy balls collided and exploded. The shockwave pushed the two combatants a little back.

"Hey, that's my attack!"

"Yeah, so? Terra Force!" WarGreymon used his Brave Shield to block the attack. Exactly what Lilithmon wanted.

"Phantom Pain!" Darkness surrounded the vaccine warrior and pain surged through his body. "Eden Lost!" A large skull with black fire burning within it impacted with the dragon's shield and caused a large number of small cracks to appear on its surface. WarGreymon ignored the pain and remained on his place unmoving, hoping the darkness will disappear soon. The biggest mistake he could possibly do.

"Terra Force!" This time the attack came from behind him and hit him in the back full force. The viral Mega had quietly moved from in front of him to behind him. And she had no second thoughts about attacking an opponent in the back. After all he was part of a dream and would vanish when she wakes up.

The darkness finally dissolved and the dragon turned around.

"Darkness Spear!" A spear made of pure darkness was thrown at him and he barely dodged it. "Eden Lost!" Another skull burning with black fire collided with WarGreymon's shield, further damaging it. Two more followed and the shield broke into pieces and then into data, leaving the vaccine vulnerable. "Terra Force!" This time he could do nothing but try to avoid the energy ball and fail. The explosion forced him to the ground, but lucky for him he landed on rocks instead of in one of the lava lakes. The Hazard sign on his chest started flashing.

"Let me guess. Megidramon again?"

Red light and flames coming from the Hazard sign surrounded WarGreymon. When they vanished, in his place was none other than the evil dragon Megidramon.

"And here we go again. Hell Storm!" Lilithmon's hand glowed with purple light and she pointed it at her target. A black cloud appeared above the dragon and a purple lightning coming from it hit the former WarGreymon and paralyzed it. Then purple crystal meteorites started falling down on the immobilized monster. They were the same as the previous time. Suddenly out of nowhere large stones floating in the air appeared on their way. The meteors spread wide in all directions and went around the stones, then gathered together again and continued on their way. Again it took only five waves to destroy the victim of the attack.

**So much about this one. I'm glad I made the meteors homing. But why do I have the feeling I'm forgetting something?** She concentrated, trying to find her last target. But before she did, she found someone else. **Aw, crap. I knew I'm forgetting something. I forgot about the other digimon. Looks like Gallantmon CM won.** She kept on searching and soon found Puppetmon's location. **Great. All four are on my way. But at least they are far enough to kill each other before I reach them.** She concentrated and teleported Gallantmon CM and Beelzemon Blast Mode. The knight crushed into MegaGargomon while the Demon lord landed face first into Sakuyamon's chest. The shamaness showed how much she "appreciated" this by hitting Beelzemon's head with her stuff, thus starting a battle. Same thing happened with Gallantmon CM and MegaGargomon. Lilithmon smiled. **There. Now be good kids and kill each other. The one who survives will have the honor of fighting with me.** After that she flew in the direction of the last one she had to beat.

Puppetmon was waiting for his new toy to arrive. **Come on! Hurry up! How hard can it be to beat those two? Crash them and come here. I wanna play!**

~ It is time. She has defeated the first two. Now she's coming for you. ~

**About time!** The puppet digimon smiled sadistically and got up.

Lilithmon saw Puppetmon in the distance. Like the previous two times her soon-to-be-dead victim was standing on a patch of ground different from the standard layout of this world. This time it was a circle of dirt and ashes, at least twenty meters in diameter, surrounded by a circle of large rocks standing up like columns. Behind the rocks the ground was covered by sand that went on for a few meters, then followed the regular rocky ground. While approaching, Lilithmon made a quick card slash. "Digi modify! Taomon's Talisman Spell activate!" Then she concentrated on the two battles going on. It turned out they had ended, with Gallantmon and Beelzemon emerging victorious. She made them collide with each other, which started another fight.

"Ah, Lilithmon! My new toy! You have arrived at last! I'm so happy to meet you!"

"I'm happy to meet you too, although for a completely different reason. Now let's get this over with. I must go and I have no time for games."

"Of course you have time for games! After all, we're here to play!"

"Maybe you are. I'm here to destroy you."

"That's easier said than done." Th Hazard sign on his left arm, which had remained unnoticed by the demon empress until now, started flashing red. "Okay, I'm ready."

"Eden Lost!" The puppet made a back roll and jumped out of the way. The skull exploded harmlessly on the ground.

"Heh! Too slow, honey! Puppet Pummel!" The energy pellets flew at the demon woman, who dodged most, but few managed to hit her barrier and destroyed it.

"Fine. You asked for it. Digi modify! Rosemon!" She made the card slash as quickly as possible. "Thorn Whip!" She used the whip to restrict Puppetmon's movements. "Darkness Spear!" Before he could free himself, the spear pierced him. He fell on his back.

"You'll regret this!" Red light and flames emitted from the Hazard sign and surrounded him, then disappeared few seconds later to reveal another Megidramon.

"Not again! This is getting boring. I'm glad this is the last one."

"Let's try again, shall we?"

"If you insist. Hell Storm!" Again she pointed her hand at her opponent, it glowed with purple light, and a black cloud appeared above the dragon. This one however resisted the paralyzing lightning and when meteors started falling down, Sakuyamon's shield appeared around him, taking the first wave without falling apart. "Eden Lost!" The skull exploded, destroying the barrier and the next three waves hit their target. But then it appeared again. Another wave and one more skull destroyed it a second time. The sixth wave hit the target as well, but the reappearance of the annoying shield saved him from the last, seventh wave. The dragon remained on the ground unmoving, near deletion due to the damage caused. The demon woman was about to finish him when she heard someone say: "Excuse me."

Lilithmon turned around to find Beelzemon Blast Mode staring at her. "Wow, baby! You sure are pretty. And big where a girl should be. No wonder the puppet guy was so excited about playing with you." His comment was ignored.

"I see you're still alive. Obviously you won against Gallantmon. But he had more fighting than you."

"Yes, and I think it's not fair. I want to have fun too."

"Are you sure you have the energy?"

"I may be a little exhausted, but so are you. So we're equal."

"No, we're not! Digi modify! Recharge activate!" In an instant she was fully recharged. "Now I'm ready for you."

"Or so you think." He launched forth at her. "Darkness Claw!"

Lilithmon dodged swiftly and countered with another Hell Storm, followed by three times Eden Lost. As she had expected Sakuyamon's shield appeared around the Demon lord. Every time it was destroyed, it reappeared seconds later. But still the black angel took a lot of damage, which, combined with the wounds from before, left him on the brink of deletion.

"I hope you liked the game. I sure did. Darkness Spear!"

The attack found its mark and deleted Beelzemon. Lilithmon returned her attention to the fallen dragon. He was slowly recovering.

"Poor little dragon. Let me spare you the pain. Digi modify! Valkyrimon's Feral Sword activate!" Valkyrimon's sword appeared in her hand. "Say goodbye. Feral Sword!" The blade of the sword pierced the dragon's head and ended his life.

As soon as his data flew away, Lilithmon's surroundings blurred and she found herself where she had began her trip, with the three Zeons in front of her.

"I won. So where are my answers, you three?"

"You are far more resourceful than we thought, my dear." Began the dark one, but was cut off by Lilithmon, who turned back into Alice. "I want answers, not compliments."

"We know. The problem is we can give you only two of the answers you seek. We don't have the other one." Explained the light one.

"What?"

"So it is, my dear. We know where you can find a portal, leading to our world, but it is closed, and we have no idea how to open it. This also answers the question about whether or not there are such portals." Informed her the light one.

"And where is this portal you speak of?"

"In Shinjuku park." She was told where exactly.

"Good. In that case, leave. I wanna sleep."

"It's a bit late for that. It's nearly morning." Said the neutral one, then the three vanished and she woke up.

Alice took a look at the clock. It was half past 4 in the morning. She felt horribly tired. **Looks like they weren't kidding. I'm as tired as I would be if all the things that happened there were real. Well, I still have a few hours left. I better make use of them.**

After the last thought she went back to sleep.

**Have it your way, Alice. You're not the only one that has this kind of power.**
