Last time in this series: Another pack of Dobermon attacked, jeeze, these guys don't know when to quit. After digivolving to their Ultimate forms, the gang finally crushed them like they were nothing. After the battle, they found another cave to rest in. Amazingly, while everyone else slept, Ziramon and Jason mated! I hope this doesn't piss off her parents.

Jason rolled over and blinked his eyes, trying to adjust to the light that had woke him. Ziramon stood over him, shining a flashlight in his eyes. "It's about time you woke up, it's almost noon, you dork." she said, rolling her eyes. Jason quickly threw on his clothes and stood up, rubbing his eyes. "So, what time did you get up?" he asked. "Around 10:30, after I got the feeling back in my legs. Last night was amazing." she said, smiling softly at him. Jason looked up at her, but not with the usual look of happiness. Instead, he looked sad, if not depressed. Ziramon sat next to him, her hand on his shoulder. "What's wrong?" she asked. Jason sighed deeply, then stood up. " I'm scared." he said calmly, then walked outside of the cave, his backpack slung over his shoulder. Ziramon watched him walk away, looking confused. "What did he mean by that?" she asked herself. Ziramon picked up her backpack and walked outside, Jason's words still in her head.

The rest of the day, Ziramon tried to stay focused on the main goal, but her lover's words had begun to get on her nerves. Finally, once the group had stopped for a short rest, Ziramon sat next to Jason, staring at him long enough to get attention. "Well?" he asked. "Well what?" she replied. "Well, what in the hell are you staring at?" he asked, sounding a little aggressive. "What did you mean by you're scared, why?" she asked, frustrated with his stalling. Jason looked at the ground and kicked a small stone. "It's nothing." he said softly. "Bullshit, tell me what's wrong." Ziramon said, glaring at him. While Kyle and Layla had begun to take notice to the conversation, Corinne ignored the whole situation. "I told you, it's nothing!" Jason shouted. "That's bullshit, something's really troubling you, and I want to know what, now tell me, dammit!" Ziramon shouted back at him, taking Jason completely off guard. Jason took a few steps back, and started to walk away from her. Ziramon forcefully grabbed Jason's shoulder and spun him around. " Look, tell me the truth, now!" she screamed. Jason said nothing, and started to walk away again. This time, Ziramon slapped him so hard in the face that he fell down on the ground.

Layla just looked at the situation in shock, while Kyle started to walk between them. "What in the hell was that all about?" he asked. "That's none of your damn business!" Ziramon shouted, one eye still locked on Jason. Kyle slowly backed off, and Ziramon turned to Jason. " Well, are you ready to talk to me now?" she asked calmly. Jason slowly nodded his head. Ziramon helped him up, and they walked further away from the rest of the group. "Ok, what's wrong?" she asked. Jason sighed deeply, then looked at Ziramon, tears in his eyes. "Last night made me realize something, it made me realize just how much you mean to me, and how dangerous this situation is." he said. Ziramon's face went from confusion to understanding. "I think I see what you mean." she said, softly stroking his cheek. Jason embraced Ziramon, holding her tightly, never wanting to let her go, tears falling from his eyes. "I don't want to lose you, no matter what." he whispered, holding tears back. Ziramon rested her head on Jason's shoulder, wrapping her arms around him, tears in her eyes. "You'll never lose me, I swear to God." she whispered.

Jason and Ziramon embraced eachother for what felt like forever, not wanting this moment to end. Unfortunatly, Corinne's voice broke the silence. "Are you two done?" she asked. Ziramon and Jason looked over at her, kissed passionatly, then broke apart. Ziramon's voice got serious. "Let's move out." she said sternly. Layla stood behind a rock, watching the whole thing. "It's about time." she said. Kyle nodded in agreement.

After regaining their composure, Jason and Ziramon walked next to eachother the whole day, while Layla and Corinne argued on and off about who would take up point. Kyle, in the meantime, took up the rear, his pistols at his side. Suddenly, both Layla and Corinne stopped dead in their tracks. Ziramon rushed up to them. "Guys, what's up?" she asked. The two warriors just stared blankly into the sky. Ziramon looked up. "Oh great, this is just friggin great." she said to herself. Jason and Kyle found themselves caught in the same situation as Corinne and Layla. The sight that met all of their eyes was a giant, and I do mean GIANT, black tower. "How are we going to fight that?" Layla asked outloud. "To be honest, I don't know." Corinne said, answering the question on everyone's mind. Jason looked at Ziramon, seeing the determination in her eyes. "You guys, snap out of it. This is just another challange in our way, and we've already beaten the other challanges." he said. Kyle looked around, noticing the looks in the other's eyes go from concern and fear, to determination. "Oh fuck it, I'm out-voted." he mumbled to himself. Ziramon looked at the giant tower, her fists clenched tight. Corinne kept her eyes locked on the tower, and her hand on the handle of her sword. Layla, Jason, and Kyle all had the same look, the look of determination. "Well, I guess this is it." Kyle said. Layla placed her hand on his shoulder, then kissed him passionatly. "Well, how was that for an incentive?" she asked, smirking. Kyle's jaw practically dropped. "Ok, I'm ready." he said, focusing his mind back on the tower.

Ziramon cracked her knuckles. "Let's do this." she said calmly. The others looked at eachother one final time, then slowly followed Ziramon into the darkness, not knowing what the outcome would be, but all hoping to defeat this ultimate evil, or die trying.

Whoa, this is serious.

Will the gang be able to defeat the ultimate evil?

Will they make it out alive?

Will the author ever get finished with this long-ass story?

Next Chapter, "Into The Dark Void"
