The Tails of Four Demons

Chapter Five: Are First Impressions good or Bad?

By KellyQ

This was it.the moment Kouji was not sure of. What if the person in his dreams was nothing compared to the real one? The two came to a clearing to see two familiar people; Yamato and his little brother. Once they had landed, the first thing Kouji saw was Takuya or in his case the demon from his dream. Takuya noticed the angel prince and his brother-but the young demon brunette really couldn't help noticing the long haired angel. Takuya walked up, but stopped when he noticed that the long haired angel paled with great horror in his eyes.

"Kouji....are you-"

Before Kouichi could say anything else, his brother flew off. "Kouji!"

Everyone looked at each other with confused expressions on their faces.

Kouji put his hand on a tree trying to catch his breath as his body shook. It was like a nightmare that was slowly becoming a reality.

"Kouji! Where are you?"

The dark haired boy turned to see his brother and the demon boy. "Wait!"

Kouji turned, taking off and Takuya went after him. The demon prince flew toward the angel prince and grabbed his arm. "Will you just hold on a second?"

"Let go of me!" Kouji demanded trying to pull his arm free.

"Brother hear him out!" Kouichi called out from the ground.

Kouji growled as his whole body tensed up. He didn't want to look at the demon or see him get hurt. But why would he even care? He hardly knew him, let alone his name.

"Fine but don't expect me to really help." The angel prince said in an annoyed tone.

They both landed as Takuya let go of Kouji's arm and turned around. He looked really annoyed; ready for the brunette to hurry up.

"Well? Get on with it!"

"R-right. First off, I'm Takuya and you're Kouji right?"

All the others but one, came running up as Kouji folded his arms. "Yea? What about it?"

Takuya frowned at Kouji with great confusion in his eyes. "I just wanted to introduce myself. Is that a crime?"

Lee came to the riverside to rest. He only had one more day to find the medicine. He bent down to wash his hands when suddenly he felt that he wasn't alone. He jumped to his feet ready to fight. Lee looked around, ready for anything that was going to come out and try to attack him. Lee didn't want to fight-he just wanted to have a normal life with his friends and family. Even though the only friend/lover he had was Ryo.

The place was quiet, as Lee looked around. He got the feeling that whatever was out there, was going to wait until he dropped his guard. Lee continued to look on either side of him, until he heard a twig snap. He whirled around and came face to face with a Demon that was about his age. He had dark brown hair; red ruby eyes and dark skin.

"Who are you?" Lee asked, still looking as though he had not let his guard down with suspicions in his eyes.

"It's Takato and you are-?"

Lee looked closely at the young demon. He didn't look all that threatening and he just stood there; not even ready to defend himself.

I guess I can tell him my name.

"It's Lee."

"Takato," came a voice from the left that happened to be Daisuke, "we found him! He went this way!"

"Coming," the other brunette, "it was nice to met you."

Lee watched the two run off; then a idea came to him. "Wait!"

The two demons stopped and turned around as Lee ran up. "You wouldn't happen to know where a flower called Jiu is...?"

"Hmmm. Daisuke go on head and I'll help this angel for whatever the reason-"

"My mother is really sick and if I don't find the flower soon she'll die." Lee explained quickly.

"Do what ever you want-but if you miss out on what's going to happen, it's your funeral." Daisuke said, and shrugged.

This caused Takato to tense up as his eyes flashed angrily, not noticing that Daisuke didn't see it as the other boy quickly flew off.

"What makes you think there's a solution to this?" Kouji questioned still looking annoyed.

"Because! I don't want to lose any more friends and all this war has caused is pain! And don't tell me that it hasn't!"

Takuya was angry. Why wasn't Kouji listening to him? Didn't he care? The others looked a little shocked themselves. Pure anger flashed in Kouji's eyes. Who was this kid to tell him how to feel?

"What are you saying? That I don't care?" Kouji said angrily getting into Takuya's face.

"Is that a challenge Minamoto?" Takuya threatened rolling up his sleeves.

Taichi sighed; knowing what he had to do-and that was to pull them apart. He walked up, putting his hands on both of their shoulders and pulled them away. "Knock it off! You're both acting like five year olds!"

"He started it!" Takuya protested.

"You want to make something of it dog ears?" Kouji mocked.

"I said that's enough!" Taichi said rising his voice having to use some of his strength to keep the two apart, as they both continued to glare at each other. "Neither of you need to fight! Kouji are you going to help or not?"

The dark haired boy looked at his brother then to everyone else-looking at Takuya last; to see really no anger but slight longing in his eyes. Kouji tore his gaze away from the brunette, mumbling that he would.
