Digimon Fan Fiction ❯ The Unreal Truth ❯ Chapter 1
[ P - Pre-Teen ]
An Unreal Truth
There it is. The savior that can take me away from my horrid life. I could end it all right now. Escape my
worthlessness. My pitiful life. My Lie! All I had to do was take one little step. There's no other way.
No other way. I stood weaving through my possibilities. This was it. The only thing I could think of. I'll do it!
I began to take a step toward the edge. Then, memories came flooding back to me, like an unstoppable
force.

"Look, you're the only one who can save us. Please, try. For all of us, you've got to do it!" He said that I
was the only one that could save him. I was his only hope. I stood, trying to help. But my power escaped
me and I could do nothing. I saw the attack heading toward him. No! I ran as fast as I could in my
pitiful human body. I dove, and got there in time to see the attack strike him full in the chest. He cried
out in pain. His body began to fall and I caught it before he struck the ground. "Takeru! NO!" I began to
sob sorryfully as I held the lifeless body. "I could have saved you!" I yelled, frustration building up in me.
"You couldn't have got there in time," She looked at me trying to comfort little Hikari. I could see tears
running down her cheeks. "But I could have! I could!" I couldn't take it. I had failed him.
***
No! Please stop! I don't want to see this. Not again. Not again. Then, another memory came to my great
protest.

"I will forever remember you, Takeru." I said as I placed the cross on the mound up dirt that was were his
grave lay. I could feel the tears coming again and I let theme flow. I stood there forever. Mind racing
with unanswered questions. Then, she walked up to me and placed her soft hand on my shoulder.
"I know you blame yourself. But, you couldn't have helped him." "You don't understand. I knew the attack
was going to hit him. But I couldn't move. I was......a coward!" She sat down next to me. "Look, it's not
your fault! Please, get that through your head," She said. "Why." I whispered softly as more tears came
tumbling down. "You need..." She stopped suddenly as a fireball came straight at her. "NO!" I yelled.
This couldn't happen. I couldn't lose her too. She screamed in pain. The fireball searing her flesh.
Suddenly, the fire ball went out. She fell to the ground, burns on her pale skin. "No! Don't leave me
too! Please, don't leave me!" Tears were streaming down my cheeks as I looked at her, so helpless. "I'll
never leave you. I promise," She said, trying to live. "I've got to get help!" I picked her up and took her
back to the others.

She almost died that day. She barely lived. I could have stopped that fireball. Why can't I do anything.
Oh, I know why. Because I'm a worthless loser who doesn't have any power at all. I just tag along with the
others. Useless. Just a little pest. Well, I'll bother them no longer. I'll be out of their way forever. I'll be at
peace. Yeah. Yeah. I wavered, then took a step toward the ledge, hard ground at the end of the drop. This
is it. I jumped and started falling toward the earth at speeds faster then I could reach. "NO! Patamon!"
I looked up to see her standing there at the ledge, tears brimming her eyes. The one I almost killed. "Goodbye
Gatomon, my love," I mumbled to myself as I saw the ground a mere feet below me. "NO!!!" She yelled as I
hit the ground and floated with unreal wings to the painless land.
Please R&R!! I'll make a sequel if I get enough reviews!!!
