This Changes Everything IV

"Hello?" Kari said into the speaker box.

"Kari, it's me." TK's voice sounded tinny and faint.

Her heart leapt at hearing his voice again, but when she spoke her voice was cold and hard. "I don't talk to liars." She said walking away. The box buzzed again and again, but Kari ignored it while she banged her head into a wall. Why was she being so stubborn?

"Kari!" He shouted. She went to the window and saw him standing in the pouring rain.

You needed me.
I wasn't there.
I didn't care
The way you cared for me.

I broke your heart,
Too many times,
Till there was nothing you felt inside.

I didn't know
That I'd be needing you
Till I lost your love
Now you're all I'm thinking of.

Standing here in the pouring rain
Every night calling out your name
Looking for the door to your heart.

Kari walked away from the window and sank down on her bed. Why couldn't she just forgive him?

"So many nights,
so all alone."

She whispered.

"So many days
How I wish you still loved me.
I had my chance.
I threw it away,
And now I love you, but my loves too late."

She jumped up and grabbed a jacket and ran out into the rain.

"Takeru!" She cried chasing him down the street. "Takeru! Wait!

I didn't know
You were the one for me.
Now that I see,
Back in your arms is where I wanna be."

She said softly. "I shouldn't have slapped you. I'm sorry."

"I shouldn't have lied to you. It's my fault. These are for you." He said offering her the bouquet of white lilies and roses.

"Oh TK, they're beautiful." She said.

"But not as beautiful as you." He said brushing a rain soaked bang out of her eyes. "Promise me we'll never fight again."

"I promise." She said, before sealing it with a kiss.

Tai knocked on the door of Sora's apartment. When she opened it, he knelt down and presented her with a ring box. "Sora, I know it may seem like I don't take things seriously, but your happiness means the world to me. I want to ask you one single question, and then if you want me to I'll get out of your life."

"Takenouchi Sora, will you marry me?"
