As Matt hung up the phone, he turned the car around and started heading towards the park. His mind was racing with thoughts of his conversation with his little brother. Yeah, maybe he did like Tai but Tai could never like him. Tai is what you would call a ladies man. As he pulled into the park the only person he saw was Tai.
"Where is everyone else?" Matt asked Tai.
"T.K. and Kari said they were going to walk home, and I wanted to spend some time with my best friend. That a problem?" Tai replied with a cocky grin.
"Nope hop in." Matt said as Tai got in the car. He turned it around and left the park. "I was just about to get some movies for tonight when you called."
"What kind?" Tai asked.
"You know I really don't know what kind." Matt said. He started laughing and Tai followed. Matt started thinking about what T.K. said and decieded to say something.
"Hey" They both said at the same time.
"You go first." Matt said with a smile.
“Why don’t we wait till tonight to talk, so we have something to talk about.” Tai proposed
“All right sounds like a plan to me.” Matt replied. Matt and Tai have had a ritual ever since they were 15. Every Friday night Tai would come over to Matt’s and they would watch movies all night. They stopped and got some movies and headed onto Matt’s house. As they pulled into his apartment complex, Tai was the first to speak.
“Is your Dad gonna be here tonight?”
“Just for a little bit he got called into work tonight.” replied Matt. He parked the car and they both got out and made their way to the elevator.
When the elevator dinged and the doors opened Tai and Matt walked to the apartment door.Matt unlocked the door and they walked in, slipped off their shoes and walked into the kitchen.
“What do you want to eat?” Matt asked Tai.
“Whatever you want to fix.” replied Tai.
“Then leftovers it is.” Matt said with a smile. He got into the fridge and got out some leftovers and stuck them in the microwave. As he sat down at the table, all he could do was look at Tai.
“What?” Tai asked Matt.
“Nothing just thinking about some stuff.” Matt said wondering about his feelings towards Tai.
“Come on tell me.” insisted Tai.
“I thought we agreed to wait till tonight to talk?” replied Matt.
“Got me there.” Tai said with a smile. The microwave dinged and Matt got up and got the food out. He walked over and put the bowl down in front of Tai.
“Eat up.” Matt said.
“You gonna eat?” Tai asked Matt.
“No I’m not that hungry, too much on my mind.” Matt replied.
“I know the feeling.” Tai said not really touching his food.
Matt knew something was wrong because Tai was a human garbage disposal, but here he was hardly touching his food.
“Hey, Matt” Mr.Ishida interrupted. “I’m heading out. See you in the morning. You guys have a good time.”
“You too Dad.” Matt said as his dad walked out of the apartment.
As his dad walked out of the apartment Matt got up and locked the door behind his dad, then he walked into kitchen and leaned up against the counter looking at Tai. “You wanna talk now or what?”
“Yeah, I guess it’s now or never.” Tai replied.
With that they walked into the living room and sat on opposite sides of the couch. They both just sat there and glanced at eachother neither of them talking, waiting for the other to start. Then one of them spoke.
“We need to talk.” Tai said.
Thoughts were racing through his mind what if I tell him how I feel and he rejects me and never wants to talk to me again. Only bad thoughts clouded his mind for once.
“I was talking to Kari today and she brought something to my attention that I never really noticed.” Tai started to explain while he was fidgeting very nervously. “Kari and T.K. seem to think that we like eachother more than friends. I was just wondering is that true?”
“Well I really don’t know what to say Tai.” Matt replied.
“It’s not that hard of a question is it?” Tai asked.
“I don’t know why don’t I ask you same thing. Do you have feelings for me Tai?” Matt asked Tai scared of the answer. If he got the answer he wanted would that make any difference. ‘Things got way more complicated than I thought It was going to be’ Matt thought to himself.
“I don’t know either. Man this isn’t the easiest question I’ve been faced with. I mean it looks easy but it isn’t.” Tai thought out loud.
“Your right I mean there is so many things I want to say to you but I just can’t find the words to tell you.” Matt tried to explain.
“Don’t worry I totally understand I think that we are both in the same boat here so let’s just start from scratch. Yamato I can understand what Kari and T.K. mean by the things they said becuase yes I do have feelings for you, but I don’t know if they are real or not, you know?” Tai said.
He said it. ‘I do have feelings for you’ all he could do was smile. Then he looked up at his best friend, and spoke. “Taichi I also have feelings for you. I’ve always wanted to tell you but I also didn’t know if they were real.” Matt said with a smile.
“Well I have a suggestion.” Tai started to explain.
Before he told Matt what he was going to do he started to lean forward towards Matt. Thoughts were racing through Matt’s head. What is he doing? Is he going to do what I think he is going to do, but before he could finish the thought him and his best friend was kissing.
