KENATO and TAITO!

"TK, can I borrow your digivice?"
TK sighed. This was a regular occurrence now. Everyone two or three days, Matt would borrow TK's digivice and go alone into the Digiworld. He would never tell TK what he did and he'd sworn TK to secrecy about it. It had been going on for a couple of months now and it was really beginning to bother TK.
"Matt, why do you keep going?" he asked "What do you do there?"
Matt said nothing. He looked at his feet silently. TK sighed.
"Matt, please tell me," he said "I worry about you."
"You shouldn't," Matt said softly "I can manage fine."
TK handed him the digivice.
"Take care of yourself," he said softly.
Matt nodded. Turning, he left, leaving TK wondering unhappily what his brother was doing in the Digital World alone.
* * * *
"Master, Matt's here."
Ken's face brightened slightly before going back to normal. His guesses about Matt had all proved correct. Matt had continued to come back, each time letting Ken do different things to him. Each time, he came back more willingly. He sometimes protested at the things Ken wanted to do but Ken nearly always talked him round. He was careful to alternate the violence with tenderness, to make Matt feel happier and more secure. He had been able to see it working as Matt grew more comfortable, less afraid. Even when Ken had violent tempers and hurt him, he still came back. And gradually, Ken had begun to see a sort of love in Matt's eyes when Matt came to him. Matt had begun to open up, answer Ken's curious questions about his life and the other Digidestined. Ken had learned more about the Digidestined in his short time with Matt than from weeks of watching them. Matt seemed happy to talk and tell Ken all about his life, proving Ken's suspicions even more. Matt was falling in love with him. Maybe not traditional movie love but it was a definite form of love none-the-less.
Turning, he saw Matt and Wormmon at the door. Wormmon was already leaving. He was used to Ken kicking him out while Matt was there.
"Hello Matt," Ken said.
"Hi," Matt said softly.
Ken walked over and kissed him. He felt Matt relax and mentally laughed. Matt was always tense when he first arrived, always nervous about his liaisons with Ken. Ken always took his mind off that pretty quickly.
"And how are things for you Matty?"
Ken was the only person in the whole entire world who had the privilege of calling Matt Matty. Matt would have broken the nose of anyone else who tried it.
"Fine. My band have a gig coming up soon so I may not be able to come as much for a little while. Blowing off practises doesn't go well and then they all ask why. And I don't really fancy telling them the truth."
"How much do they know about the Digiworld?" Ken asked curiously.
"Not much. They know that I do some weird stuff sometimes and once when I was dru - when I was talking I let some stuff slip but they never really questioned it."
Ken let his mouth quirk slightly, letting Matt know that he'd noticed Matt's slip but he wasn't going to make any comment on it.
"You've never told me much about the band."
"You've never asked."
Ken laughed. He kissed Matt lightly at first, then adding pressure. Matt instantly responded, nuzzling into Ken. Ken pulled him down to the floor, running his hands though Matt's hair.
"I like your hair," he said softly "You should grow it even longer."
Matt laughed.
"It doesn't look good in a ponytail," he said.
Ken snorted softly.
"Tried that have you?"
"Yes."
Matt was obviously reluctant to say any more about what had happened with his hair in a ponytail and Ken didn't enquire. He continued to kiss Matt, trying to decide what they were going to do today. Matt seemed quite happy for them just to continue kissing but Ken didn't want that. He was trying to think of something to do when someone banged on the door.
"WHAT?" he yelled. No one was allowed to disturb him when he was with Matt, no one. Beside him, he felt Matt cower slightly and stroked his hair, assuring him that he wouldn't hurt Matt.
Wormmon crept in. He didn't react at all to Matt and Ken snuggled up together.
"I'm so sorry Master," he said faintly "But the Digidestined.....the Digidestined are attacking one of our prisons."
"What?" Ken said again. He heard Matt's soft gasp "Which prison?"
"The Ice Desert Prison Master," Wormmon said.
Ken turned to Matt.
"Why didn't you tell me the Digidestined were coming?" he shouted.
"I didn't know!" Matt said "Normally...normally TK says if he needs his Digivice and he didn't so I thought....."
Ken gave an irritated growl and shoved Matt away. Scrambling to feet he walked over to the screen and activated it. He could see the Digidestined minus TK fighting.
"Hmmm," he said softly "I think we'll send Ekipsmon. He'll take care of them."
He heard Matt make a small noise of protest.
"What?"
"I.....I don't want you to hurt my friends," Matt said.
Ken choose to ignore this remark completely. He pressed the button which would let Ekipsmon out and then sat back on his throne. He heard movement and Matt scudded up beside him, sitting nervously at his feet. Ken sat, watching the screen silently. Ekipsmon attacked. It was a huge Digimon like a dinosaur with very large spikes jutting from all over it. The Digidestined all backed away from it hurriedly. The smaller one - Iori - tripped and fell. Ekipsmon gave a roar and sprang at him.
"Oh no! Iori!" Ken heard Matt gasp. Turning, he back-handed Matt across the face.
"Don't make a sound!" he snapped angrily "Sit there and be quiet!"
"Y-yes Master," Matt whispered, pressing his hand to the side of his face. Ken turned back to the screen. Digmon had protected Iori and was trying to fend Ekipsmon off. The other Digimon were attacking now while the Digidestined anxiously examined Iori who was looking dazed. As they watched, Ekipsmon reared up, looking like he was about the flatten the Digidestined easily.
"Master.....Master please...."
Ken looked at Matt. Matt stared at him desperately.
"Please stop this, please," Matt begged "Please don't kill them. They're my friends, I need them."
"You don't need them," Ken said "Not while you've got me."
"I know but....but it's different," Matt said wretchedly "Please Master...."
Ken considered.
"All right," he said "I'll call Ekipsmon back."
Matt watched as the Digimon retreated, leaving a startled group of Digidestined behind him. The screen went blank again. He looked nervously up at Ken.
"You owe me," Ken said softly.
"I know. Thank you," Matt said.
"Go home Matty."
Matt nodded. He scrambled to his feet uncertainly.
"Thank you," he said again, turning to leave.
"Yamato."
"Yes?" Matt asked, turning round.
"Don't make a habit of this." Ken's voice was light but Matt could hear the dangerous undertone "I don't work by your commands. I'm the Master here, remember?"
"Yes," Matt whispered "Thank you Master."
He left the Digiworld, scared and unhappy. Why did he keep going back to Ken? Why? He knew it was wrong and knew that he was putting himself in danger. But he just couldn't stop himself. He needed Ken, he wanted Ken. And Ken could be so nice sometimes, sweet and loving. It was just....just that sometimes he got mad.
Matt was aware that he was thinking like those abused women you saw on TV, the ones you always screamed 'For God's sake, get out of that relationship you silly slut!' at. But he couldn't bring himself to give Ken up. Maybe he could change Ken, maybe he could do something to make Ken not evil....
And Ken always made him feel so good...
He gave the Digivice back to TK (who was sulking because he had been unable to go with the others) and went home. His father noticed the new bruise on his face and asked where it had come from.
"I fell over," Matt mumbled.
His father sighed but didn't say anything. Matt sidled into his room and sat down, trying to think. He was interrupted when the phone rang almost straight away.
"Hey Matt, it's Tai."
"Hey Tai," Matt said.
"Can I come over to yours? There's something I want to talk about."
Matt frowned. He looked at his watch.
"It's a bit late," he said "Or it will be after I've done my homework and guitar practise. Can you come over tomorrow?"
"Yeah sure," Tai said.
"Come after school," Matt said.
"Okay. See you."
Matt hung up frowning. Tai sounded a bit odd. Was something up?
Great. Another thing to worry about.
* * * *
Tai did seem a little strange the next day. They walked back with Matt doing most of the talking. When they got in, Tai seemed quite happy to watch TV until Mr Ishida got home. Then Matt dragged him into his room.
"Okay Tai. We've been avoiding it all day but I think it's time. What did you want to talk to me about?"
Tai swallowed.
"Okay, here's the thing," he said "The thing is......okay, this is the thing."
Matt raised an eyebrow. Tai gave a slightly shaky grin. It was unusual for Tai to lose his composure so much and Matt couldn't help worrying.
"Look Matt," Tai said "We've...we've been friends for a long time now. So....I mean, I guess I should tell you this."
"Tell me what?" Matt asked.
Tai took and deep breath. He reached out and gently caught Matt's hands in his own.
"I'm....I'm kinda in love with you," he blurted "I mean....! Not love, love's not exactly the right word but I'm very, very fond of you and well I don't want to lose your friendship but I was wondering if you could ever feel anything maybe more for me?" he finished hopefully, staring at Matt.
Matt sat frozen. His head was spinning. In love? Tai loved him? Oh....no.
"Tai....Tai, I don't know what to say," he said eventually. He realised that Tai was still clutching at his hands but didn't try to pull away "I.....God, I wasn't expecting that."
"Are you mad?" Tai said, his eyes huge.
"No. God no," Matt said. He lightly squeezed Tai's hands "I could never be mad at you. Never."
Tai seemed to be gathering up his courage. He suddenly leaned forward and kissed Matt very gently. Matt wasn't sure what to do. He wasn't used to this sort of kiss. Ken's kisses varied from different degrees of violent to gentle. But this was different from all of them. Without even thinking, he parted his lips slightly, letting Tai in. Tai pressed closer, his kisses getting more intense. Matt just let him, enjoying it. Tai's hands were running over his back and Matt couldn't help grimacing as his fingers touched a raw whip mark Ken had left recently.
Ken.
Shit.
Matt shoved Tai desperately off. Tai staggered and stared at him, his eyes brimming with horrified tears.
"Tai....Tai oh God," Matt said. Realising that his friend was about to run, he snatched Tai's arm "Tai don't! Let me explain! Please!"
Tai stared at him.
"Tai I like you a lot," Matt said "I mean, I really like you. And whatever happens, I always want us to be friends. And if things were different.....well maybe I would want to be with you. But they aren't. I can't date you Tai. It's not you. It's....it's just that I can't. It's too difficult to explain."
Tai licked his lips.
"Okay," he said "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to...."
"No," Matt said "Don't be sorry. None of this is your fault. And I don't want things different? Okay? We'll keep things the same."
Tai nodded.
"Matt," he said "Do you....are you involved with someone else?"
"Yes," Matt said softly.
"Will you tell me who?"
"No Tai. I won't," Matt said.
Tai nodded.
"I'll see you tomorrow Matt okay?"
"Sure."
"I can see myself out," Tai said.
Matt stared after him, long after the door was closed and Tai was long gone.
Tai was in love with him.
Well, this wasn't getting any easier.
* * * *
Ken looked down at Matt who was fast asleep in his arms. Glancing at his Black Digivice, he realised that Matt would have to leave soon and he wanted to talk to him first.
"Matty. Matty, wake up."
"Don't call me Matty Tai," Matt mumbled.
Ken felt a scowl coming onto his face. Tai?
"I'm not Tai Matty," he said, his voice going cold.
Matt's eyes clicked open.
"Ke - Master," he said "Sorry."
"Why were you calling me Tai?" Ken said.
"Tai's the only other person I've ever woken up next to except TK," Matt said "And TK knows better than to call me Matty after I tied him to a tree in the park and left him there."
Ken snorted.
"How old were you?"
"I was ten, he was seven," Matt said "'Old enough to know better' as my parents both said."
Ken snorted again. He ought to be happy with Matt's excuse but somehow he wasn't. Matt had been a little funny all day.
"So how are things anyway?" he asked, playing with Matt's hair. He had noticed that lightly drawing shapes on the back of Matt's neck got Matt all relaxed and sleepy meaning you could get things out of him better. You just had to get there without him really noticing what you were doing. If he noticed, he hunched up and the effect was lost.
"Oh, it's all okay," Matt said "The band are fine. Toshiki's in a mood because his mum has chucked out all the chocolate in the house because she wants to stop him eating so much. Apparently he'll become fast and spotty if he carries on. So Toshiki's making a protest by singing loudly. So she's bought ear-plugs. It's looking set to be a fine old battle."
Ken snorted. The doings of Matt's friends all seemed fairly trivial but it was rather amusing all the same. He lightly ran his fingers though Matt's hair and let his fingertips touch the sensitive skin. Matt gave a small whimper and then subsided, lying quite still as Ken traced little patterns.
"And the Digidestined?" Ken said.
"Huh? Oh they're all fine," Matt said, already sounding drowsy "Sora's preparing for a tennis tournament which we're all supposed to watch.....I may suddenly have to do hours of band practise. I hate tennis."
Ken snorted.
"Davis, Kari and TK are doing a science project together. TK keeps saying that he's going to kill Davis any day now. Kari's getting sick of acting peacemaker."
Ken nodded.
"Joe's.....doing Joe stuff, I don't know. Izzy's making this computer program which he says will revolutionise chocolate. Tai's...."
Matt trailed off uncertainly.
"What about Tai?"
"Well, he's been kinda upset after I turned him down," Matt muttered.
Ken felt a stab of rage shoot though him.
"Turned him down?"
"Uh huh. He said he wanted to date me," Matt said.
Ken pushed Matt off him. Matt looked confused, then scared as he realised what he'd said.
"I told him no!" he said quickly "And we didn't do anything!"
Ken looked at him for a second.
"Of course you didn't," he said "I trust you Matty. You know I do."
Matt relaxed slightly.
"You trust me don't you?" Ken said.
Matt nodded.
"Good," Ken said. He sat down next to Matt again and hugged him.
"You're.....you're not mad?" Matt said nervously "About Tai."
"No," Ken said "I'm not mad."
Matt relaxed completely. Ken smiled, looking over his lovers head.
"Matty, do you love me?" he asked.
"Huh!"
Matt jerked back looking shocked.
"Do you love me? It's a simple question," Ken said.
"I....I guess," Matt said uncertainly.
"Then say it," Ken said.
Matt paused for a second, staring into Ken's eyes though the glasses that he always wore.
"I love you."
Ken smiled. Leaning forward, he kissed Matt deeply, trailing a hand down Matt's chest making Matt shiver with delight. Ken continued to kiss Matt until he heard a timid tap at the door. Wormmon was peering in.
"Shouldn't Matt being going home now?" he said nervously "His father might be annoyed."
Matt looked at Ken's digivice.
"Oh shoot! I'm already late! Dad's gonna kill me!"
"Then don't go home," Ken suggested softly.
Matt looked at him from where he was gathering up his clothes.
"What?"
"Stay here with me," Ken said, still very quiet "Don't go home. Live here with me."
Matt looked at him.
"Master, you know I can't," he said "My family, my friends....they need me."
"Doesn't what I need matter?" Ken asked.
"Yes! That's not what I meant! I just.....I can't stay here. My life is back home!"
Ken looked at him.
"I suppose it is," he agreed "Okay. I'll see you soon Matty."
Matt quickly pulled on his clothes.
"See you soon," he promised before racing out of the door. Ken thoughtfully dressed, looking after Matt.
So Tai wanted his Matt did he? That was something that needed to be considered very carefully indeed.
"Wormmon," he said.
"Yes Master?"
"I want you to keep an eye out for a boy with large bushy brown hair," Ken said "If you see him I am to be contacted at once."
"Yes Master," Wormmon said, sounding a little confused.
"Good," Ken said. He looked at the screens "And Wormmon?"
"Yes Master?"
"Matty isn't to know that I'm watching for this boy. Understand?"
"Yes Master."
Ken chuckled softly to himself. He might not do anything if he did see Tai.
On the other hand, he might.
It was time to pull his net in tighter around his Matty.
