Entry 1

------------------
28 March 2003
Sitting in front of a computer screen was a girl, approximately twelve years of age, with short cut wild dark blue hair. She was dressed in a baggy tan t-shirt and a pair of loose fitting bleached blue jeans. Her dull green shone brightly with excitement and anticipation as her fingers clacked away on the keys of the keyboard nestled in her lap.
Displayed on the monitor in front of her, the subject of her excitement, was a database...more specifically, a database of the state's Department of Motor Vehicles. Working quicly, she moved through it and found a small file that contained the information of those people whose driver's liscenses were to expire in the next month. Saving the file, she then terminated her connection to both the database and the internet. Picking up the keyboard she placed it on top of the sheets of scralwed handwritten calculations that covered her desk.
Pushing away from the desk with her legs, she rolled backwards in her chair and stretched her arms out above her head and sighed contendedly. Spotting movement out of the corner of her eye, she turned her head to the side and spotted a blocky, grey colored creature that appeared to be made out of Lego blocks put together in the shape of some sort of semi-bipedal lizard sitting on her bed reading a large book. Smiling at the sight the girl spun the chair around and leapt from it to the bed and startled the grey creature.
"Wah!"
The creature shouted as it leapt into the air in surprise, but was, astonishingly, able to maintain it's hold on the book despite the fact that its hands only had three short stubby fingers. When it had landed and regained it's breath it turned its green eyes on the blue haired girl and gave her a look that could melt steel.
"Sarah," the creature began, then after noticing the look of triumphant achieval on the girls face it sighed and deflated as it questioned the girl, it's voice filled with dread, "What have you done this time?"
The blue haired girl, whose name was now revealed to be Sarah, sighed theatrically and flopped over onto her back as she answered, "Why Toy Agumon my dear friend, I have only successfully completed a task that is my first step into a world of which I have only dreamed of entering until now."
Rolling her eyes at the girl's theatrics Toy Agumon snickered which caused Sarah to giggle, and before either of the two knew what was happening, they had both dissolved into helpless fits of laughter. Several minutes later when the two had finally calmed down Toy Agumon wiped a tear of mirth from her eye, looked at Sarah, and asked, "Really though, what had you in such a good mood that you decided to scare the living daylights out of me?"
Sarah smiled and said, "I hacked the DMV. I've just taken the first step to becoming a true hacker."
Toy Agumon did her best to mock frown at Sarah and shook her finger at Sarah menacingly while telling the blue haired girl in a voice that valiantly attempted to sound reproachful but still failed miserably, "And why would you want to be a hacker? There's things which are so much more fulfilling. Things like slaving away to make sure that your digimon partner lives a leisurely life of comfort free from the worries of things like fetching her own books from the shelf."
In response Sarah schooled her face into a paroxysm of an obsquecious servant and responded in a simpering voice to Toy Agumon's playfully absurd suggestion. "Yes mistress. Shall I now open a gate to the Digital World so that you may stretch your legs?"
Continuing the antics Toy Agumon replied with a simple, "You shall."
Getting up from her bed Sarah returned to the desk, and the second drawer from the top on the left side she retrieved an oblong, oval shaped device that appeared to be made of plastic the color of polished gold with a screen inset on the flat of one side and several buttons black buttons underneath the screen. Sprouting up from what was presumably the top of the device was a short, knobby antennae, and below that antennae was a gray grip pad that covered about half the length of that side. On the oppoisite side of the device was another pad of the same color but only half the length of the first.
Holding it up to the computer screen caused a program to load automatically and display a window to a place with rocky hills and a thin covering of snow on the ground. Glancing down to make sure that Toy Agumon had joined her, Sarah then returned her attention to the computer screen and said, "Digital Gate Open."
Immediately upon the completion of the verbal command an inidcator "light" on the program window switched from red to green and a white light emitted from the computer screen and captured Sarah and Toy Agumon. The two were drawn into the light, shinking exponentially as they approached the computer screen then, when they reached the monitor they were pulled through, the light shut off and the light switched from green back to red and once more awaited the command to open.
-------------------
A young boy stood in the mall, his violet eyes scanning the crowd as if looking for something. Not finding it the boy hung his head and sighed, his moderately long brown hair falling into his eyes as he did so.
Standing there, dressed in a pair of dark brown Doc Martens, a pair of dark grey cargo pants, and short sleeved black t-shirt with a picture of a bottle nosed dolphin with five white five-pointed stars on it's forehead leaping into the air under the light of the moon on the back and a SEGA logo emblazoned across the left breast worn over a long sleeved white t-shirt, he looked every bit the impatient young man waiting for a friend that he was. Glancing down at his watch once more he noticed that it was only fifteen seconds since he had last checked the time, and that it was still five minutes or so until his friend was supposed to arrive...he was still early.
When he looked back up from his watch he involuntarily took a step back in surprise, for there before him was the very person he had been looking for only seconds earlier. Taking a moment, also involuntarily, to take in the appearance of the person in front of him his thoughts began to muddle slightly. The girl in front of him had shoulder length black hair drawn back into a loose ponytail. Like the boy, she was dressed in t-shirt and pants, however, her shirt was plain and unadorned, light blue in color while her pants were tan colored slacks. Even as his mind began to note how pretty her smile was despite the braces on her teeth and how her chocolate brown eyes sparkled just so, the boy ruthlessly shoved the thoughts to the back of his mind reminding himself that this girl in front of him was and had been his best friend for as long as he could remember. Regaining his control he put a smile on his face and greeted her.
"Hi Ashley, where'd you come from like that? You startled me."
Her smile widening ever so slightly the girl spoke. "I could tell. But tell me Walter, how come you're so early?"
Not wanting to tell his friend that it was because he was developing a slight crush on her he shrugged his shoulders and replied, not really lying, "I had nothing better to do and decided to get here before Mom saw me loafing around and gave me some chore or other to do."
"Ah," she said in a tone that conveyed both that she understood completely and sympathized. "Well then shall we get started?"
Grinning, Walter mock sighed and said, "Sure, but could you do me a teensy favor...Try not to butcher my hair too badly."
Swatting at him lightly Ashley giggled and responded, "I'll try not to get too carried away, but then again if I do it's your fault for taking that bet in the first place." Then, she grabbed his hand, inadvetantently cutting off any response he was about to make, and led him into the crowds.
Silently thanking his lucky stars that she hadn't noticed his blush when she grabbed his hand, Walter followed after Ashley and tried very hard to resist the strange urge he had to glance at her butt. It was something new to him, but from what he had been told in that very akward and uncomfortable talk his mother had made he and his dad have, he figured it had to be something to do with the changes his body was supposedly beginning to go through...stupid puberty. When they finally arrived at the hair salon that Ashley had chosen and she released his hand, he didn't know whether to be relieved or dissapointed.
He initially settled on relieved as it meant that much of the akwardness had passed without him doing anything stupid or embarrasing, but as time went on and he sat and waited while Ashly spoke with the hair dresser, Walter decided that he was dissapointed. Even if the hand holding had been akward, it still meant that they hadn't arrived yet, and with each passing second he found himself becoming more and more nervous and frightened of what would eventually happen to his hair. Even though he had run through his memory to try and find something, anything that he might have done to irritate or upset his friend that had yet to be repaid and come up with nothing, his nerves refused to settle themselves.
Thus, the arrival of the hair dresser with news of Walter's imminent demise was met with relief as the waiting and worrying were now over.
"Hello Walter, your girlfriend has explained to me how she wants your hair cut, and chosen a color for me to dye it...though she's forbidden me to tell you just what color," said the hair dresser as he led the boy to the barber's chair.
Even though Walter was somewhat used to people making the mistake of assuming that he and Ashley were girlfriend and boyfriend, he was still somewhat embarrased by this man referring to his friend in that manner. And stranger still, was the fact that no matter how hard he tried, Walter couldn't muster up the will to correct the man, and even as he wrote it off as nervousness Walter knew there was more to it than just that.
It didn't take long for the man to cut Walter's hair, and though it did take a while to do the dying, it still wasn't too long until Walter and Ashley left the salon. When the stylist that had worked on him had finally finished, Walter had been pleasantly suprised at the result. Ashley had had the man cut his hair in such a way that it no longer fell over his ears, but instead cut off just above them, and the cut flowed smoothly around to the back where it tapered to a point just below his ears. The hair on the top of his head was still thick, and he still had a fringe that hung down onto his forehead, but falling quite short of his eyebrows. The biggest surprise had been the dye job.
Instead of choosing something normal like red, blonde, black, or a different shade of brown, she had chosen a deep aqua color. Looking in the mirror at the finished product Walter had to admit that it somehow worked for him. Of course when Ashley had give him the "officail mark of approval," the deal had been sealed, and any lingering uncertainties he had about the new color evaporating underneath his best friend's praise.
Now, however, they were sitting in the food court eating pizza and talking about this and that.
"Hey, Walter, I just realized that Otamamon isn't with you," Ashley said as she took a sip from her soft drink, "Where is he this afternoon?"
"He's visiting some friends in the Digital World," Walter responded, not in the least disturbed that his friend knew of his partner for he had told her himself the first chance he got, "I dropped him off just before I left home."
"Ah, that's good. I'd have hated it if I'd caused you to abandon him at home."
Walter, waved his hand in a dismissive gesture, "Don't worry about it, Otamamon likes you, and if he hadn't wanted to go spend time with his friends I'm sure there would have been some way for me to get him here without anybody noticing."
After that the conversation lapsed into a comfortable silence for a few minutes as the two friends shifted their concentration to demolishing the pizza before them. When they finished they each leaned back and stretched their arms out above their head. Although he managed not to stare, Walter still found hims eyes almost unconciously straying towards the slight curvature of Asheley's upper chest, a curvature that had seemingly appeared over night, but that he knew had been slowly developing for a while before he noticed.
Finshing their stretching, Walter looked down at his watch, ostensibly to check the time, but also so that he could collect his thoughts again, something he felt he had been having to do all too often lately. Looking back up at Ashley he asked, "What time did you say you had to leave again?"
"I didn't," said Ashlye by way of response, "But, I'm supposed to meet my mom outside of the bookstore at 7:30."
Walter's eyes went wide at that and he said, "Well it's 7:28 right now, I think you'd better get going."
With a slight squeak Ashley leapt up from her chair, dashed around the table and planted a small kiss on Walter's cheek before dashing away in the direction of the bookstore with a "Bye Walter, had a great time!" tossed over her shoulder as she retreated.
Walter sat there dazed, and slowly lifted his hand to his cheek. However, before he could fully complete the motion rational thought set in once more and he shook his head fiercly while returning his hand to the arm of his chair. Using his arms as a brace, he simultaneously pushed his chair away from the table and stood up. Gathering up their trash he walked over to the garbage recpetacles and dumped it in before pulling a cellphone from his pocket and walking towards the nearest exit.
-----------------
A tall humanoid figure dressed in white spandex with blue boots, a blue chest plate with a yellow circle plate over each breast, blue gloves with a gold design on the back of the hand and a gold lightning bolt shaped guard/blade extending past the elbow, a blue mask that extended several feet beyond its head and had gold designs on the front of the face, and a white scarf tied around its neck, stood on the edge of a cliff overlooking a broad plain with several villages in it. Smiling slightly it opened it's mouth and said, "Sleepy little place like this could do with some excitement. Fortunately for them I, Rinkmon am here to provide."
He then leapt off the cliff. As he fell, he twisted his body, orienting it against the cliff face. Then, just as his feet were about to touch the rock, blades materialized on the bottom of his feet and dug into the rock with a hissing of sparks. He then began to move his legs, arms, and feet as if he were speed skating and his descent down the cliff face stablized and he began to pick up speed. By the time he reached the bottom of the cliff and was entering the plains below, he was little more than blue, white, and gold blur.

The Next Morning
When Walter ported into Lakeside Village, he found himself swarmed by the Penmon and Otamamon that made up the bulk of the village's inhabitants. The cacophony of voices all trying to tell him something at the same time made it all but impossible for him to tell what they were saying. After a few minutes, when it seemed that there would be no cessation of the babbling, Walter found himself feeling very aggrieved and yelled as loud as he could, "QUIET!"
The noise quickly abated and Walter looked around then pointed at one of the blue and white feathered Penmon and commanded, "You, tell me what's got everyone so upset."
The small birdlike digimon seemed startled that he'd been chosen and pointed his wing at himself and mouthed "Me?" when Walter nodded his head indicating the affirmitave the digimon began to speak. "Well...um...this morning, you see, we woke up and...well, somebody had kinda, sorta trashed the fish traps and now we don't have any breakfast."
When the Penmon had finished telling his story, the other digimon piped up and added their agreement. Walter shushed them with a wave of his hand then asked, "Do you think it was an accident?"
"No Walter, somebody did on purpose, they even left a message," came the voice of an Otamamon behind him, more specifically, Walter's partner.
Turning around he looked at Otamamon questioningly. Otamamon responded by turning and hopping away. Walter followed his digimon until they reached the place where the fish traps were and saw the mangled remains of said fish traps, and the message that Otamamon had wanted him to see. It was carved in a flat stone that had previously been used to anchor the traps and said, "Thanks for the fish little guys. Rinkmon."
Having read the message Walter wondered aloud, "What's a Rinkmon?"
"Nobody really knows," said Otamamon, "We've never heard of one out here, but whatever it is, it's trouble."
Turning around to look at the crowd of Child level digimon, Walter was inclined to agree, however he had no idea what to do about it since he did not know what kind of digimon he was dealing with. Walking towards the gate to return home, he had a thought. Stopping suddenly he turned to Otamamon, and asked, "Do you think it might have hit any of the other villages around here?"
Eyes widening, Otamamon bobbed his head up and down and said, "It hadn't occurred to me, but it might have done just that. Are you wanting to check and see?"
Walter thought for a moment then said, "Yes, and if we find anything out we'll call in the others to try and help."
------------------
A young boy walked through a forest. Dressed in, of all things, a loud Hawaiian style shirt and a pair of ripped, bleached jeans with long shaggy brown hair and mirthful brown eyes, he was sure to draw attention to himself. So much so, that it would take most people a second or even third glance to notice his companion, an armored mammal-like creature with yellow skin, green eyes, and red markings on the top of it's armored head. While the creature bore a strong resemblance to an Armadillo, it was clearely something else, and an astute observer would notice that the light in it's eyes spoke of intelligence that was rarely seen outside of humans...and of course it could speak.
"James, why are we out here? I could understand if you wanted to look into the 'bigfoot' sightings around here, but if that were the case you would have at LEAST called Sarah and let her know what we were doing," said the creature.
"Relax Armadimon," said James, "I've got you to protect me, what's the worst that could happen?"
As soon as the words left his partner's mouth Armadimon groaned. He just KNEW that something was going to happen now. And not ten seconds later something did.
With a crash, a large bipedal creature with red and black fur, and a pair of spikes curving upward and outward from it's shoulders came rushing out of the trees. On its head a white cap with three ivory spikes extending from it and a pair of green flaps that fell over the creature's ears was nestled atop said creature's head. With a foamy lather falling from it's lips, it was a fearsom sight to behold, and when it caught sight of James, it's visage became even more frightening as a horrid grin spread across its face. Lifting one arm high above its head, it brought it down upon James's head with enough force to shatter the boy's skull like a fragile piece of glass. However, the beast was surprised when not only did James's head not turn into a bloody paste with the impact, but also when the boy began cursing.
"Goddamned son of a goat fucking whore! That mother fucking hurt you cock sucking wannabe bitch of a bear fucking eskimo prostitute!" as James continued to swear at the rabid creatured with his curses getting more colorful and inventive Armadimon watched in alarm as the creature prepared to grap his partner. Leaping forward, he slammed into James's legs sending the boy tumbling to the ground just in time to avoid being pulped by the creature's claws as they slammed together with a thunderous clap of sound.
Of course this only caused James's cursing become even MORE colorful. As he extracted himself from his partner's legs Armadimon winced as James described something that the attacking creature should do to itself, something that it wasn't physically capable of doing...yet. Once he had managed to remove himself from underneath his carefree partner, Armadimon was was enveloped in a blinding aura of white light, and with a shout of, "Armadimon evolve!" he began to evolve as his partner's digivice FINALLY seemed to realize that the two were in life threatening danger.
"Nanimon!" As the light faded it revealed a ball shaped creature with short but thickly musled legs and arms protruding from the bottom and sides of the creature, a nasty looking beard, and a pair of wrap around shades. Clenching it's fists, the material of his red gloves crinkled and a scowl crossed his face as he looked at the now startled creature that had attacked James. "You tried to hurt James, now I'm gonna hurt you."
What followed was a display of violence and sadism such as James had never seen before. He enjoyed every minute of it. When Nanimon had finished working the creature over James posed the question of the day. "Okay, we've got an unconcious Wendimon that's going to have a monster headache when it wakes up. What do we do with it now?"
------------------
"Hello?" Sarah stopped to answer the phone as she finished reading the e-mail from James, "There's some sort of trouble in the Digital World? Great, just great. Look, James got himselt into yet more trouble and I need to carry the laptop out to him and send the Wendimon he stumbled across back to the Digital World, I'll bring him with me and meet you in Lakeside Village once we're done."
Sighing the blue haired girl hung the phone up and grapped her laptop's bag and cracked the door open slightly to make sure that nobody was around to see her, and more importantly Toy Agumon, sneaking out. Seeing that the coast was clear she and Toy Agumon quickly and quietly slipped out the back door. Once outside they stuck to the less traveled areas and cut through yards until they were out of the city.
What they didn't notice was that they had been spotted by several pairs of eyes. One pair belonged to a a silver haired figure sitting atop of her house and wearing a pair of heavily tinted wrap around sunglasses. The others were a pair of policemen who had been watching her house for some time now and recording her comings and goings, especially those involving the strange creature that had appeared around the previous Christmas.
While the policemen were reporting to their superiors the silver haired man chuckled slightly to himself and mused aloud, "What can I do to make this more interesting?" He sat in what appeared to be great thought for a moment before his countenance lit up in what appeared to be an expression of delight, "I know, I'll..." and he disappeared in a swirl of silver energy before finishing his statement.
------------------
It was several hours later, and Sarah, Walter, and James along with their digimon had visited at least a half dozen other villages that had been hit by the mysterious vandal. Sadly they had yet to find any clues as to the identity of the vandal. Nobody had seen him, just the results of his actions. At least they assumed it was a he.
"Guys, how are we supposed to find this guy and stop him if nobody knows what he looks like or where he's going to strike next?" asked James.
"I don't know," answered Walter, "I suppose we could just wait in one of the villages that hasn't been hit yet and try to catch him in the act."
"I don't think that will be necessary," said a voice that belonged to no one any of the three knew.
Turning around they were met with the sight of a tall humanoid digimon in blue and yellow armor and wearing a pair of ice skates on his feet. "Who are you?" Sarah inquired of the unfamiliar digimon.
"Me? Why I'm only the fastest thing on the face of this Digital World," said the digimon as it sketched a bow. "I'm called Rinkmon, and I'm the guy you're looking for."
The Digi-Destined and their digimon just gaped at this digimon who had the gall to show up out of nowhere, wreck several of the village they were supposed to be protecting, and then appear before them and tell them he was the one behind it! Once the shock had worn off it was quickly replaced by irritation and anger and their digimon were quickly evolved to their Adult forms. However, it was to their shock and consternation that Rinkmon did absolutely nothing but stand there and smirk in the face of the implied threat of the Seadramon, Tankmon, and Nanimon.
After several moments of what was to the children and their digimon a tense standoff James ventured forth a question. "Aren't you supposed to like do something? I mean attack us or runaway, or even God forbid, surrender?"
"Ah....No." said Rinkmon. "I don't beileve I'm supposed to do anything like that."
"Why not?" questioned James.
"Because," said Rinkmon with a smirk, "That's far too predictable."
"You like unpredictable then?" asked Sarah, a mischevious smile on her face.
"Why yes I..."
"HYPER CANNON!"
"DO!" Rinkmon's suprirse at being fired upon without provocation expressed itself through the higher pitch and intensity of his voice as he quickly dodged out of the way then vanished in a blur of speed.
Unfortunately for the Sarah and Tankmon, they hadn't thought to take into account what would happen if Rinkmon had managed to dodge the attack, and therefore could only watch in mute horror as the high explosive warhead flew into a hut and detonated causing the tiny dwelling to explode in a shower of data. James and Walter however were a little quicker on the uptake and had managed to shout a warning to the occupants of said hut just in time for them to leap out of the way thus sparing them thier lives.
"Bravo!" said Rinkmon from behind the group as he clapped at the display of destruction wrought by Sarah and Tankmon's surprise attack. "I didn't think you people would have the guts AND the stupidity to attack me like that."
Snarling silently Sarah whirled around to face Rinkmon while Tankmon turned herself around to face the enemy once again. "What do you want Rinkmon."
"What do I want?" He asked aloud. "I want...to have fun."
James and Walter, who were silently observing the exchange alongside thier partners began to carefully edge away from the angry females and out of the line of fire. This proved to be a good move on their parts as Sarah's next words, the precursors to much violence and property damage, were "Tankmon, start shooting and don't stop until this guy can't run any more."
------------------
Watching the events through a circular hole in the air surrounded by a slowly rotating silver ring, the silver haired man from earlier in the day winced in sympathetic pain. "Even I know better than to mess with a female during 'that time of the month.'" The man then paused for a moment before ammending his previous statment, "Well, at least not when she can get back at me anyway."
------------------
Several minutes later, Rinkmon found himself with a ringing headache and a broken leg, and wondering if pissing off this Digi-Destined had been the smartest thing to do. As he chanced opening his eyes, the first thing that caught his attention was the smoke, the second thing was the very, very angry face of a female human.
"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't delete you right here and now," she growled.
Rinkmon cowered before her wrath, but had enough prescence of mind to squeak out a, "Because I'll be good now?"
His answer didn't seem to appease the female, and he found himself wondering which of the Digital Gods he should pray to before she deleted him when one of the males that had accompanied her earlier stepped into view and placed a hand on her shoulder. The two walked away, but the female didn't return. Instead the male came over and kicked Rinkmon in the side. "Sit up you. We won't delete you, but you've still got to face whatever punishment the locals come up with."
As Rinkmon did just that he decided it didn't matter which of the Digital Gods was responsible for his turn of luck, he'd simply thank them all.

A/N:
This chapter really didn't turn out in the way I had envisioned it all those months ago when I started it. Ah well.
Next Entry: Sarah was convinced to go home and cool off while Walter and James stuck around to handle clean up, but when the light from the Digital Gate fades she finds herself anywhere but.
