Reluctant Bride

Prologue: Do First Impressions Count?

~*~ Syaorans P.O.V~*~

I slowly dragged my feet along the dirt road. `Why me? Why couldn't they make that baka Eriol do this?' I thought. My messy chestnut brown hair fell into my amber eyes. I, Syaoran Li, reached up a weary hand to brush the strands away. I was on my way to the next village, to meet the chiefs daughter. My bride to be. `Well, it could be worse. I could be marrying Meiling right now.' I thought. My cousin Meiling was my fiancé, but had released me when she met the so called "man of her dreams".

It was fairly dark when I reached the village. One of the guards escorted me to the chief. I bowed in respect as the older mans eyes stared warmly at me, unlike the mans son who just glared.

"So you are Syaoran Li? We have been waiting for you. Maybe now I can finally marry-off Sakura."

`What does he mean by 'finally'?' I gulped.

"I will not force you to marry her, though she as beautiful as the flower she is named after, she's a little spitfire."

I lifted my head. 'Spitfire? Who is this girl?'

Fujitaka turned his eyes to his son.

"Touya, will you bring Sakura in?" He asked.

"Iie"

"Why not?"

"She's still hunting." Touya replied. My eyes widened slightly.

"You let her go hunting? I thought I told her she was forbidden."

"I had to. She's the only one in this village who can atually hunt, and bring back a five point buck."

Fujitaka sighed, and rubbed his temple.

Bang.

I jumped a little as the door behind me slammed. I heard soft footsteps approaching.

"Father, I'm home. And I brought back dinner!!" I saw a girl walk past me with a large buck on her shoulder. Her short honey brown hair clung to her dirt covered face. Her father frowned at her. And her brother looked a little down.

"That's all you brought for dinner?" He asked.

"No you baka, the rest is being cooked."

"So daughter, why did you bring...that in here?" He questioned motioning to the buck.

"I thought it would be a lovely wedding present. That is, if my `forced onto me husband' doesn't mind." It sounded as if she didn't want to get married either.

"Sakura, please take that away and clean your self up."

"Hai." she turned on her heel and left. I couldn't help but stare after her. Even though she was covered with dirt her emerald eyes still shone brightly. As well as her beauty.

"And wear a dress!!' He shouted after her. He turned to me.

"That was my daughter, Sakura. She can be handful sometimes."

"Sometimes?!" Her brother exclaimed, "She's chased off, and beaten up every man who we engaged to her." He looked a me, "And you're the tenth person we've tried to marry her off to."

I stared at them. Was she really this tough? Well I'd see for myself very soon. After a few minutes she walked back in. I blushed a little. She was wearing a wrap around skirt and a tank top, and both were light pink.

"Sakura, this is Syaoran Li. Your fiancé." She glared at me.

'I feel so welcome to this family.' I thought.

"You will stay with him at all times, and don't ditch him like you did with the last one." He stated firmly. She nodded and we walked outside Sakura in the lead. I shut the door, and Sakura sighed.

"Finally I can take this thing off." she said. Her voice was soft and smooth, and pleasing to my ears. I blushed as she undid her skirt. She threw the cloth on the ground revealing a pair shorts. She looked at me.

"Well I guess I'm stuck with you. But you don't seem afraid of me, why is that?"

"Who would be afraid of you?" The question was innocent enough, but she didn't seemed pleased. She stuck out her hand, and smiled. I took her hand, blushing like hell and she shook it. Right before she flipped me. She started to walk off leaving me spread-eagled on the ground. I got up and ran after the warrior angel, I have to remember that one. Could be a cute pet name.

We were walking side by side and I had been staring at her. She stopped and looked at me quizzically as if waiting for an answer. At the time I wasn't thinking clearly, she looked stunning in the moonlight, and it drove me wild. And I said the stupidest thing I could at that moment.

"You're the most beautiful creature I've ever seen." I went dark crimson as she stared at me with a cold and confused look. Next thing I know Sakura has me by the front of my shirt, my face pulled close to hers, as well as her fist that I could see out of the corner of my eye.

"If you ever say that again I'll kill you." I wasn't focusing on her words at the moment, but instead I was staring at her lips. God they looked tempting, great, she's going kill me and I'm thinking about kissing her.

But I answered,

"Why not? You don't like compliments?"

"I like to be complimented, just not by you." She let go, but our faces were still close. Somewhere along the line I had put my arms around her waist. And before I knew what I was doing I had closed the gap and was kissing her. She tensed for a moment, but relaxed as I caressed her perfect lips with mine. I took one of my hands and ran it through her hair. She moaned a little, surprising me. I felt her weak attempt to push me away, but I almost didn't feel it. I moved my hand back down to her waist as she started to fall back slightly. I took a risk and I slid my tongue into her mouth, attempting to get a good taste of her tonsils. She answered by massaging my tongue with hers, and I felt her arms go around my neck. Suddenly she stopped and pushed me away. My arms were still around her and she didn't notice. We were both gasping for air. She looked into my eyes and slapped me hard on the face. She slapped me three more times before stopping. I looked at her angered face.

"Okay, I know I deserved to be hit. But why did you have to slap me four times?" I asked.

"The first was for kissing me, the second for running your hand through my hair, the third for putting your tongue in my mouth, and the fourth was because I felt like it. She turned on her heel and walked away her hips slightly swaying from side to side. I touched my cheek and followed her. This was going to be an interesting night.

~*~

It had been an hour since the uh...kiss. And she hadn't spoken to me since. Currently we were sitting by a lake. She was staring at the water, and everything that reflected on the water was in her eyes. It only made her more beautiful. I smirked, at the newly forming plan in my head. I moved closer to her, and shoved her into the water. It didn't work out as I had planned. She grabbed me around the waist and we both fell in. She broke the surface before I did, and when I came up she pushed me back down and held me there. I ducked underneath her, and held her close to me from behind. She started to thrash around, but I held onto her. My face was near her wet hair, which still smelled like cherry blossoms even after being soaked by lake water. I lost control for the second time and pressed my lips to her neck. She stopped moving, and her whole body tensed up. So...she has a weakness. I pulled back, and she struggled harder and I lost part of my grip. I tried to get her back and she was facing me. She looked angry and frightened at the same time. Although anger was the main emotion. Her eyes narrowed, and she kneed me in between the legs. But she didn't stop there, no, she pulled her fist back and punched me. She started swimming back to shore, and I could feel a black eye forming already. I had to admit she had spunk. I swam after her and we both climbed out of the water. She looked at me and I smiled.

"Why do you keep kissing me?" She asked, with coldness in every word.

"Well, we are going to get married. May as well get used to it." I answered. She did not look happy. She sighed and started to walk back.

I wasn't going to give up this engagement. She different. She wasn't a powder puff like every other girl I had met. I followed after her trying to think of some way to get her to like me back. So far she hated every thing about me, but who said first impressions counted anyway?
