Pokeball S: A New Beginning
By Kahlii
This is the second book in the Pokeball S series. If you want to go look for the first one, don't. You're wasting your time. I started writing this series about three years ago and although I did write up to chapter 27 of the first book, the story was never published past chapter 12. And all postings of it have been taken down. This story takes place five years after the events of the first book. And don't worry if you haven't read any of the first story. Anything that was important in that story that relates to this one will be explained. I should also mention that people who have not seen or know about the end of DBGT we be getting some spoilers from this story, as it continues from where it left off. So that's enough explanations, on with the show.
DB Timeline: After the end of GT. Goku Jr. is now about 19 or 20 years old.
Pokemon Timeline: Pokeball S splits off from the timeline before the Johto League journeys. I assumed that Ash was 14 by that time and spent about a year in the first Pokeball S book. So Ash is between the ages of 19 and 20 in this story. Misty is about 22 and I think you can guess everyone else's age from that.
Pokemon and Dragonball are (c) their people and, seeing that if I did own them I wouldn't need to find a job, they are obviously not mine.
Prologue to a new beginning
Misty biked up to Prof. Oak's place for what seemed like the thousandth time. She visited Pallet Town once a month for the last five years, to check on things and just in case there was some new news that she had missed. There never was. Two years ago, there actually had been a letter from Ash saying he was all right but not a single hint as to where he was; the envelope didn't even have a stamp. There hadn't been anything since then and she highly doubted there would be any now.
She reached the front door and glanced behind her as if expecting to see him there. There was nothing. Misty sighed and rang the doorbell. Last year Mrs. Ketchem had moved in with Prof. Oak so she wouldn't be living alone with Mr. Mime. It was she who answered the door. "Oh, hello Misty, how are you today?" Delia asked, moving out of the way so the younger woman could come in.
Misty sighed, "Same as always."
Ash's disappearance hadn't struck Mrs. Ketchem as hard as most thought it would. Although she didn't show it as often as some, Ash's mother loved him very much. Maybe it was because she always knew that someday he would be leaving, but Misty had a feeling there was more to it than that.
Prof. Oak walked in then, a smile spread across his face. He held an envelope in his had. "Misty! You're in luck! We got a letter from Ash today. It just came in the mail a few hours ago."
A smile spread slowly across Misty's face. "What does it say?" she asked cautiously, as if it were too good to be true.
"It says he is going to be competing in the Tenkaichi Budokai this year." he replied without looking at the letter. Misty guessed he had already memorized it.
"Have you told Gary and Goku?" Misty finally questioned after letting it sink in. He was coming back to fight, not to see her.
"Actually...that's also part of the letter," replied Oak, frowning at the piece of paper in his hand. "He requested that we don't tell anyone else."
"Oh... I see, " said Misty. She dropped her head down to stare at the floor. She quickly looked back up. "Did he ask you not to tell me as well?"
Prof. Oak brightened. "Actually, it says he wrote you a note too. You should probably be getting it today or tomorrow."
Misty smiled. He had thought of her. And she would be able to see him when he went to the tournament. "By the way, when is the tournament scheduled this year?"
"Exactly two weeks from today," Delia finally spoke up.
Misty's heart fell. Still almost a month until she got to see him. "Oh well," she thought, "I guess it gives me time to prepare myself. He's what, almost 20 now. He's probably different. I wonder what he looks like."
Her thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the front door. When the door wasn't immediately answered the person started ringing the doorbell incessantly. Misty quickly dashed to the door, hoping Ash had returned early. But to her dismay she found it wasn't the person she was hoping to see. Standing there, with a smile upon his face, stood a 30 some year old looking Goku Jr.
"Hey Goku," said Misty without feeling, sighed and walked back into the house, leaving the door open for him to shut himself. Sure enough, Misty soon heard the closing of the door and a pair of feet following her to the living room.
Once she reached it, she immediately collapsed onto the couch.
The fighter then walked in and smiled warmly at the two other adults. "Hello Delia, Prof. Oak, it's nice to see you again."
"Goku, it's been a while," replied Delia. Noticing Misty, she decided to introduce her. "This is Misty, once of Ash's friends."
Goku held out his hand playfully.
Ignoring his hand, Misty turned in her seat on the couch to stare blankly at the wall and said plainly, "We've met."
Goku looked taken aback He walked around the couch until he could see her face. He studied it for a few seconds before raising an eyebrow. "Are you sure?"
"Yeah. We met five years ago at the Tenkaichi Budokai. Then you and some others traveled with Ash and me searching for the S balls."
"Tenkaichi Budokai? Some others? S balls?" Goku paused, thinking hard, "You sure? I don't remember."
"How could you not remember?! You were with us the whole time," exploded Misty. " You were the person who recognized Ash's Super Saiya-jin transformation!"
"He went SSJ?" asked Goku, his frown replaced by a smile. He turned to Delia. "I told you I knew what I was doing."
Ash's mother sighed, "I guess you did."
Misty's eyes widened as she finally understood who he was.
"Y-y-you're-you're..." stammered Misty, "you're Son Goku Sr.!"
Goku looked puzzled and raised an eyebrow. "Who did you think I was?"
"Son Goku Jr.. Ash and I met him five years ago, right before Ash went off on his journey."
"Oh! You mean my great, great, great...." Goku's voice trailed off and he scratched his head. "Anyways, my grandson."
Misty nodded sheepishly.
Goku stuck his hand behind his head and chuckled lightly, not unlike the person Misty was hoping to see in two weeks. The reminder of the missing pokemon trainer was too much for Misty and she excused herself.
Waving a friendly good-bye to the three adults, Misty made her way back to Cerulean, thoughts of a certain black-haired pokemon trainer on her mind.

Author's Note:
Well, I'm just posting this to get a feel of how people react to this. There weren't very many crossovers of this type when I first go the idea for this story, and although I must admit I haven't really been looking, I haven't seen any of good quality since. Not saying that mine is great. That's all part of your opinion. Tell me what you like! Tell me what you hate! Tell me anything, just not the story! (In other words, I'll take writing criticism, but I won't take kindly to people telling me what to do with the story.) The first chapter should be up within the next week or two and you can probably (hopefully) expect a new chapter every one or two weeks. Thank you!
