CHAPTER 1
Since the Negaverse disappeared, the scouts never met Mina, yet, and Serena never found out about Darien being tuxedo mask.
Serena's head bobbed slightly as she walked to school. This was the last week of school, and she didn't have anymore projects, homework, or tests left. Actually, she did have one exam, but Amy had helped her prepare. On Friday, the last day of school, the school was going to have a big picnic prepared just for the eighth graders, but that didn't look like it was going to happen, with the thunder and lightning.
"Serena? Are you ready for that exam? We spent the whole weekend studying for it," Amy asked softly, trying not to make her friend nervous. Serena nodded.
"Don't worry Amy, I won't let you down!" Serena pumped her fist into the air, and then hung it around Amy's neck. Lightning streaked the sky, but the thunder, for once, wasn't too loud, like they were at the eye of the storm.
"Don't worry about me. I'm just proud that you are finally taking school seriously." Serena yawned, causing her friend to sweat drop.
"Yah, yah…I'm just really hungry," Serena paused a moment when her stomach growled, then continued. "See?"
Amy reached into her book bag and pulled out a snack and handed it to Serena.
"Good thing I brought this."
"Thanks Amy, you're a real friend!" They walked into the school and into their homeroom. They didn't realize they were being watched from the roof of the school, nor did they realize that this was going to be a day of hell, and Serena wasted time studying for that exam instead of training to take care of a new threat that was sure to come.
"Soon Sailor Scouts…especially you, Serena…soon…" and the voice carried on the wind, even as the figure leapt off the roof of the school and disappeared.
Serena shivered, turning back to the open doors of the school. A gust of wind swept past her, causing goose bumps to rise on her arms. She listened intently as a sound filled her ears.
"…soon…" Serena closed her eyes, and then opened them. It sounded so cold, so close.
"Serena? Come on or we're going to be late again!" Amy called, already outside the classroom. Serena nodded hesitantly and glanced outside before following her friend. The clouds were dark, and there was a severe thunderstorm warning for all today and tomorrow. The thunder shook the whole building when it rung through the ears of the people inside.
Serena shuddered as a feeling of unease crept into existence, as she walked through the door and shut it behind her. The thunder cracked once again, causing Serena, along with most girls, including Melvin, to shriek.
"Oh Serena, it's just thunder," one of the boys told her while soothing his girlfriend. Serena nodded, but didn't believe it. She had a bad feeling about this. It wasn't raining, not at all. It hadn't rained since the storm started, two days ago. There was negative energy in the air, and Serena was only subconsciously aware of it.
