CHAPTER 4
"Ready to run?" Molly asked everyone. They nodded. Soon the gang had raced out into the storm.
"This hurts!" Serena cried, as the rain seemed to pour harder. Darien ran to her side and put his jacket over her shoulders. She gladly accepted it, hugging it to he shoulders. They reached the car. Amy, Molly, and Melvin got in on the passengers seat, and Serena and Darien got in on the driver's.
Darien quickly shut the door. They were all soaked again, but he didn't really care. Right now, Serena laid sprawled over Amy and Darien's lap. She quickly learned what Darien meant by tight fit.
"Darien! You didn't tell me it was this tight!" Serena complained. "How did you get all of us over here, really?"
Darien flushed, but luckily, Serena didn't notice. Amy did though. She suddenly had an idea.
"Serena! Please get off my lap! You're hurting me!" Amy yelled, not really meaning it.
"Then where am I supposed to sit?" She asked. "There's no room!"
"Sit on Darien's lap! He won't mind it, I'm sure," she answered quickly. Serena stared at Darien for a second, and he looked at her. She turned away, blushing slightly.
"I won't mind, as long as it's just this once," Darien said coolly. Serena glanced at Amy and she nodded.
"Are you sure?" Serena asked doubtfully.
"Yeah, I guess. It won't do any harm, will it?"
"Only to my pride," she mumbled to herself.
"What was that?" Amy asked.
"Oh, nothing!" she said quickly, scooting into Darien's lap. Serena leaned back on the window so not to get in his view.
Here's you chance Darien. Amy was trying to give Darien a chance with Serena, but she just hoped that he wouldn't mess it up.
"Can you take Molly and Melvin home first?"
"Sure." Molly and Melvin told him where their house was, and in about twenty minutes, they were dropped off.
"Call my parents and tell them I'll be gone for awhile!" Serena yelled to Molly.
"Now where to?" Darien asked.
"The temple," Serena glanced at Amy, and she nodded.
"Alright," he said as Serena climbed off of Darien and into the middle seat. Amy scooted over to the window. Darien had drove offSoon they were at the temple.
"Thanks Darien!" Serena hopped out of the car, and scouts ran for cover. Darien watched until the girls disappeared into the building, then he headed back to his house.
"Raye? Is anyone here? Hello?" Serena called out.
"Serena? Is that you?" Lita asked, coming through the door. "Amy too? How did you guys get here?"
"Lita!" Serena hugged her friend, but then her expression became serious. "Is Raye here also? We need to talk."
"I'll say." Lita went to go get Raye, leaving Serena and Amy a small batch of cookies. The two gratefully took them. Soon, Lita walked through the door with Raye tailing her. As soon as they sat down, Serena started.
"They're back."
"Who is?"
"The Negaverse." Lita and Raye gasped.
"How do you know? Are you sure?" Raye asked. Serena nodded, explaining the past events of the day, leaving out the part where she sat on Darien's lap.
"This is serious? What are we going to do?" Lita asked, clenching her fist. "Why would they show so suddenly? What are they up to?"
The scouts sighed. It had been a little over a year ago when they had left. The scouts thought they were gone for good, but apparently not. They sat there for a moment longer before Raye turned on the TV.
"Breaking news just in! It appears that there has been an outbreak of fires all over Japan! Firefighters are trying their best to stop them, but there's just too many. These fire appear to be killing a large number of people, trapping them within a ring of fire, almost like it has a mind of its own…" Raye turned it off. Serena thought about what the reporter said. A mind of its own…trapping them within a ring of fire…just like what happened at school.
"Definitely the Negaverse." Amy bit her lip. They had a lot to figure out with so little time to spare…
"I say we get Luna. She'll know what to do!" Serena broke into Amy's thoughts. The others nodded. Soon, they were outside. "Seems like the rain stopped."
Lightning shot form the sky and stuck the ground in front of them, no more than twenty feet away. The ground shook fiercely and the girls fell to their knees.
"Hello, Sailor brats! Let me introduce myself…I am Kakou," A demon emerged where the lightning had struck. The scouts quickly found their way to their feet, each getting ready to transform. "I'm not going to fight you, Sailor Scouts…not yet anyway." It smiled evilly.
"What do you mean? Who are you working for? The Negaverse?" Serena yelled, trying to muster the strength to fight if this was a trap. The demon smirked making its sinister features seem even more menacing.
"I serve no one. The Negaverse works for me." It laughed coldly at her, causing a shiver to go up her spine.
"You're the one that started the fires then!" Serena growled, gritting her teeth.
"Smart girl." She smiled. "I live and feed off the waves of fear and pain that people give off. I crave it…and the fresh blood…the faces of agony of those that are ripped and shredded by my claws and burned by my flames…" Kakou paused a minute and held up her claws. She licked her thin, blood red lips. Her claws were curved, about three inches long and razor-sharp, and looked extremely painful. Serena noticed a red stain on them.
"How awful…" Serena whimpered. Kakou smiled in satisfaction.
"But you are so wrong, Sailor Moon…and the blood of your brother," Serena gasped, "…Sammy, was it?"
"What did you do to him?! You better not have hurt him or I'll-" she lunged herself forward, attempting to silence the demon, but Kakou just stepped aside with amazing speed.
"Not now, Sailor Moon. You're no match to me so I don't have to kill you just yet. I like toying with you…soon though…" With that Kakou left, the word 'soon' hung in the atmosphere. Serena let out the air that she had unknowingly held in. She turned to her friends.
