Dragon Ball/Z/GT Fan Fiction / Sailor Moon Fan Fiction ❯ From this moment on ❯ FMO ( Chapter 1 )
A/N: Hi again, everyone. I changed my pen name! This is my very first try at a songfic: it is a little practice for future projects…. So please go easy on me, `kay? This fic is also a side story to "What Lies Ahead" and "Paths Crossing", but to be able to understand this you have to have read at least WLA.
On the other hand, keep in mind this will probably be a One-Shot, unless more ideas come to my mind to describe a little more of Hikari's childhood.
Disclaimer: I don't own any of Sailor Moon or Dragon Ball/Z/GT. "From this moment on" doesn't belong to me, it's a song sang by Shania Twain and Bryan White. I'm not making any profit out of this.
Ok, now R&R!
From This Moment On
An eight year old Son Hikari was getting nervous.
It was long past noon, and none of her parents were visible. They had promised they would come to this important event of their young daughter's school no matter what, and yet, there was still no sign of them anywhere.
Granted that some new evil bad guy would always get in the way somehow, never letting them enjoy their little moments of peace; now that Hikari desperately needed the presence of her parents for this as they had promised it to her teacher, in all likeliness they wouldn't be showing because once again they had had to part to battle yet another threat to the planet.
Oh… Kami, why couldn't her mother and father have been like any other children's?
It was nothing more than one of the many social charity events that all the primary schools in the state had been organizing lately, meant to gather some money to help the families and specially the children of some town far away whose homes had been sunken by a flood caused by the constant rains last month. They had been unlucky enough to live close to a very dense river… And the schools had asked all the creative parents' help requesting they participate by using their talents, like performing very simple shows with music, puppets, plays, or even little scientific dissertations, or by doing exhibitions to sale their manual arts and handicrafts. All the money reunited would go to help those helpless people. Many inhabitants of the region had attended this one event that had finally been arranged outdoors since it was such a nice day.
They were all reunited and waiting.
The amount of money gathered would never be high enough if these people didn't cooperate… and how would they ever be willing to donate anything if they weren't presented with something? At one o'clock exactly Hikari's parents had been appointed for their personal presentation, it was already a quarter to one and they weren't even here… Hikari could somehow tell she would be really embarrassed in front of every kid in her school if they didn't show up.
Just where were they..?
Five minutes passed, and Hikari noticed her teacher, Miss Haruna, already approaching her once more with a concerned expression on her face. The woman stopped next to Hikari and looked down at her with a questioning look.
"Kari-chan, are you sure they're gonna come at all?" she asked for the third time that day.
Hikari's sky blue eyes trimmed with silver stayed focused on the ground, not able to meet the adult's worried stare. The little girl's hands clenched into small fists a bit.
"I know they'll be here…" she whispered.
The red haired teacher sighed.
"But they should have been here an hour ago to do the preparations…" she trailed off.
She put a hand on the child's shoulder.
"Look, sweety, I know you would prefer that we waited for them, I understand it completely and, believe me, so do I, but people have already started leaving and perhaps it's time we cancelled and allowed the next group of parents to perform their shows." She tried to reason.
Hikari looked up at her in fury.
"NO! They'll be here, I know it!" her soulful eyes softened and became watery "Please, Miss Haruna… they still have ten more minutes…" she pleaded.
Haruna-sensei sighed again in compliance.
"Okay… five more minutes" she conceded.
Hikari smiled brightly in gratitude. The teacher raised an eyebrow.
"What kind of stuff are they doing, anyway?" she asked curiously.
Hikari's cheeks reddened and she looked elsewhere.
"Her… I don't know!" she blurted out "They didn't tell me…"
The teacher caressed Hikari's mid night locks with tenderness. She grinned.
"So, it's a surprise, huh?"
The little hybrid quickly nodded flustered, her fair skin still rosy.
"That's right!" she hurriedly confirmed.
Haruna-sensei raised an eyebrow again, but decided not to comment. She just managed to fake a weak smile in order not to upset her student further, and then retired.
Hikari let out a big breath… The truth was, she didn't think her parents had had any time to prepare a `proper' show, with all the fighting they had had lately. It almost seemed as if all the evil baddies out there in space had plotted to ruin her school year.
She secretly snorted at Miss Haruna; the clueless woman didn't have the tiny remote idea she was the daughter of the universally famous and renowned heroes, the Legendary Saiyajin and the Queen of the Stars… Her teacher also ignored it was thanks to these `neglecting' parents, as a few people called them, that she and every human being on this planet were still alive.
Wasn't life the tiniest bit unfair.
But, her mother and father had said they already had something in mind as to what they could do for this special event… that they would work it out, and Hikari trusted them.
She would trust them with her life… why not a stupid school thing?
However, the minutes passed on and they weren't near arriving…
Was it really five minutes to one p.m. already?
Hikari sighed. She would hate having to tell Haruna-sensei to call it all off.
It was at times like these that she just couldn't help but wish…
Why o why couldn't her father have been a business man or something, instead of a martial artist, and her mother a house wife instead of a sailor scout?
With these thoughts on her innocent mind the little half saiyan turned to head towards her red headed teacher…
…Until she stopped dead in her tracks.
There, on the small stage, were a handsome spiky black haired muscled man, whose boyish face was sporting a huge grin towards her, and a golden haired beautiful woman, whose soulful silver deep blue eyes looked at her with much adoration. The crowd was gazing at the two of them in interest.
Hikari's eyes brightened and got considerably larger. She just couldn't stop smiling…
Never taking her eyes of her, her golden haired mother took the old microphone between her delicate palms and the people became silent to hear her soft voice.
The `Queen of the Stars' smirked.
"Please excuse us the little delay…" she whispered "My husband and I got caught in the traffic…" she joked.
There were several chuckles. Everyone knew the traffic in the zone was a very peaceful one.
They had all caught up with her teasing.
Usagi slightly turned to Goku beside her.
"For this one occasion" she started, looking at him for reassurance "my mate and I have prepared a song… It is not just any song, it's our song: the one that better describes the feelings that brought us together… And we wanted to share it with all of you…"
Goku nodded to her and gently took the microphone himself.
"This special song is dedicated to the most important and precious thing my wife and I have…" he said "…our little shinning light, our darling daughter, Hikari…" he turned his eyes towards her, smiling with intense affection.
"Sweetheart" he whispered "this song is for you…"
Hikari felt tears forming in her already crystalline eyes.
Then Goku moved away and Usagi advanced forward, the tiny microphone in her right hand. Not even a fly could be heard among the entranced public. The moon princess started her song.
I just swear… That I'll always be there…
The golden haired goddess looked at her daughter with all the love she had for her.
Then looked at her husband and smiled at him.
But she did it oh so slowly…
I'd give anything… and everything. And I will always care…Through weakness and strength… happiness and sorrow… I will love you……With every beat of my heart.
Usagi looked at him directly in the eyes, the sweet smile still on her lips.
Then she resumed her singing.
From this moment, love has begun…
Goku, who had been entranced at his spouse, quickly got closer to gently take the microphone from her. He too started singing fervently.
From this moment…you are the one…
Right beside you, is where I belong… From this moment on…
They had trailed of together, looking at each other while singing at the same time. Goku was amazed at how well their voices harmonized together.
From this moment…I have been blessed.
The tall saiyan looked at his mate and child.
I'll live only… for your happiness.
Usagi walked towards him and he stretched his arm outward. He also walked towards her.
And for your love, I'd give my last breath…
He couldn't help bur gaze at her this intensely.
From this moment on…
They had been advancing until they were standing in front of one another, and Goku thought Serenity's voice sounded so sweet and melodious.
I give my hand to you with all my heart…
She took a couple of steps away. He soon followed close.
Can't wait to live my life with you, can't wait to start…
You and I will never be apart.
They finally reunited at the center of the stage.
My dreams…came true… because… of you.
Him running a hand through her silky like hair, their high pitched voices entwining together.
From this moment, as long as I live… I will love you… I promise you this.
There is nothing…that I wouldn't give…
She covered his hand with her own and soon was pulled towards his body.
…From this moment on.
They finished together, and she found herself realizing how much the lyrics of this song were a window to her heart.
She moved to trail a caress over his face.
You're the reason I believe in love.
His hand clasped hers immediately, and held it.
And you're the answer to my prayers from up above.
They took both each other's hands. They were recalling all they had gone through to be right were they were now.
All we need is just the two of us… My dreams came true… because… of you.
Goku still held Usagi's hands tightly even as he stepped back.
From this moment… as long as I live… I will love you… I promise you this…
Soon the earth raised saiyan couldn't help but start pulling her towards himself.
There is nothing… I wouldn't give… From this moment on.
Usagi looked up as she was pressed against his chest.
I will love you…
He got lost in her profound oceans of blue.
I will love you… as long as I live.
She got lost in endless ebony.
From this moment on…
Mhhhmm…mmmhhhmm.
They had leaned their foreheads together, and the couple slowly closed their eyes.
Mhhhmmm…mhhhmmmmmmmm…
The beautiful song had finished.
--------------------------------------------------------------- ----------
When they opened their eyes again, they stared at one another in tender delight for a few seconds.
However, soon they remembered they weren't actually alone…
They sweatdropped.
When they turned their heads towards the crowd, they saw everyone was looking at them in complete silence, eyes wide.
Hikari was wishing the ground would swallow her right at that very moment. What a pity it wouldn't happen.
Miss Haruna-sensei seemed astonished, her mouth was open in a full `O'.
Goku and Usagi just stayed in each other's arms staring at their catatonic public. More seconds passed…
Then, they heard the first applause.
And then another…
And another.
Until all the now massive audience exploded in an exited howl.
Miss Haruna passed a relieved hand on her sweaty forehead. Hikari imitated her and sat herself on the ground, her tired legs no longer being able to support her.
She couldn't believe her parents had just made her go through that.
Goku and Usagi only looked at each other once more and laughed. It seemed they had gotten a bit carried away…
Many of the spectators were putting bills and coins inside the jar for donations.
The couple quickly went towards Hikari and the whole family hastily departed.
They were leaving the place as some people started yelling for an encore.
