Dragon Ball/Z/GT Fan Fiction / Trigun Fan Fiction ❯ A Friendly Foe ❯ Chapter 1 ( Chapter 1 )
An ambrosial smell flowed through the luminous forest. The birds chirped unashamed, proud of the unfamiliar songs they spread through the atmosphere. The tall trees and bushes seemed to sway to their music as the wind gently blew them.
At the edge of the forest stood a simple, circular house. Anyone passing could tell that the delicious smell of food was coming from the small, white structure. Inside the house, Chi-chi was over the stove, humming a tune to herself. She wiped her brow of the perspiration that had formed from the heat, which was currently emanating from her pots.
She had been working all day, which included looking after and training her youngest son half the time. She was exhausted, but she had gotten used to it since everyday was like this for her. Feeding saiyans was always tiring work. Though Goten had a bigger appetite than any normal boy, her eldest son, Gohan, was practically an adult and his abnormal swift intake of...well...anything edible could have rivaled her husband's. Yes, both her sons were like their father Go...
"Hey mom!" Gohan greeted as he stepped through the door. He put his book bag in one of the chairs at the kitchen table and sat in one himself. He gave a sigh and turned to his mother's cooking form.
With Chi-chi's train of thought interrupted, she turned to her very adult-looking son and gave a tired smile.
"How was school?"
"Oh it was... eventful, as usual." He smiled nervously.
Chi-chi turned back to her cooking pot. "Did you do any of your homework yet?"
"I got half of it done in study hall." Gohan stated as he grabbed his bag, got up and walked over to her. "Don't worry; I'll finish the rest of it now." She turned gave him the 'you better' look. He bent down and kissed her forehead. "Dinner sure does smell good. What are we having?"
"Rice and the fish your brother caught earlier today." She replied. She then sighed and looked over at Gohan. "Now go to your room and finish your homework." She lightly pushed him away from her, toward the direction of his bedroom.
"Ok...ok, will do mom."
Chi-chi smiled as she heard this.
"Oh and by the way," Gohan started, "Where is Goten?"
"He's just out playing with Chobi." She answered and she went over to the kitchen sink and rinsed her hands of their sticky texture. "Which reminds me," She turned to Gohan and snatched a dry cloth from the towel rack on the wall. "Pick him up from the nest after your done with your homework."
"Ok." He stated easily. Too easily for Chi-chi's liking.
She eyed her son suspiciously. "What did I just say?"
He gave an 'angelic' smile before he replied, "To pick up Goten from the nest...before I do the rest of my home work."
"Gohan!" She exclaimed as she glared at him.
"I know..., after I do my homework." He turned around and chuckled as he headed towards his bedroom.
Chi-chi waited until she heard the initial click of Gohan's door being shut then flung herself into the nearest chair. Little did Gohan know, it was these small, rare moments, when he showed his playful side, that she enjoyed the most with him. The moments where, for only a quick second, she would be reminded of her beloved husband... Goku...
