Chapter 10: Surviving the Morning

Vegeta opened his eyes and noticed a crowd of people at the room Yamtcha was staying in. He smirked and walked over, pushing everyone aside. The laughter that fell from his lips was uncontrollable when he saw what Yamtcha had screamed for just 10 minutes earlier. Everyone stepped away from him as he nearly doubled over, laughing his head off. Yamtcha lay on the floor, whimpering in his throat, still a bit drunk. Blood splashed over his inner thigh from the ruin that lay between his legs. When one could take their eyes away from the stump, and looked at what was in his hand they'd realize he had done it himself. Nearly choking, the Saiyan Prince's face turned red. Everyone shifted uneasily, they had never seen Vegeta laugh like this before.

"W-well don't just stand there you m-morons, get the pathetic fool a S-Senzu bean." Vegeta stuttered through his laughing fit. "I m-may not like him, but that h-has to hurt!" He coughed, clearing his throat, settling his laughter. "If you weren't satisfied with your anatomy weakling, you should have asked me to take care of that for you." Vegeta smirked wide as Yamtcha glared at him. Wait a minute, he does deserve that…they should leave him like this. "On second thought, leave him like that, the no good wannbe fighter deserves it." Vegeta remarked as he turned and stared at everyone that surrounded the room. He frowned staring from face to face. Lets see…Piccolo, Goku, Gohan, Tien, and…Krillen. Everyone's here…except. His frown deepened.

"What's wrong Vegeta…" Krillen questioned, not sure if he should be talking to Vegeta at all.

"Where's Bulma?" He glared at everyone. "That woman may sleep like a rock, but even a rock would have heard that scream." He commented cruelly. Goku nodded in a agreement.

"How about I go check on her?" Goku suggested. Vegeta growled.

"Me and Kakerot the clown are going to check on the sleeping rock. The rest of you can stay with Yamtcha the wannabe fighter." With that said he turned and walked down the hallway, not bothering to see if Goku followed.

"Hey, meany head, that wasn't very nice!" Goku pouted and ran up beside Vegeta who merely glanced at him. "You are so mean!" He pouted further. Vegeta let out a cocky low laugh.

"Will you can it Kakerot, you bore me sometimes." He stopped in front of Bulma's door and opened it. Vegeta walked over to Bulma's sleeping form very slowly, almost afraid and kneeled down beside her bed. Her back was to him, the cloth covering her back was soaked with sweat, sticking to the skin beneath. Vegeta turned her very carefully onto her back, staring at her sleeping face. Sweat ran in small beads down her face, her hair damp.

"Boy, she sure looks sick." Goku said seriously, his brows creased together in a frown.

"Well aren't you the medic Kakerot." Vegeta lashed sarcastically.

"You're not very nice Vegeta!" Goku yelled with a pouting tone.

"So you established earlier." Vegeta quipped.

"I…" Goku frowned, trying to think of something to say and Vegeta laughed at his lack of words. "Shut up Vegeta, you spoiled sport." Goku whined.

"Kakerot you are such a baby, I swear it makes me sick sometimes." Vegeta glared at him.

"Well your…a…baby too!" Goku stuck is tongue at Vegeta.

"Ooo ow, that one really hurt…" Vegeta rolled his eyes as Goku smiled thinking he'd won the verbal battle. Vegeta nudged Bulma. Bulma didn't move or make any sound as Vegeta prodded her forehead with his index finger.

Goku finally realized the sarcasm in the previous statement and his smile faded. "Hey! That was mean!" He stomped his foot.

"So you keep telling me Kakerot." Vegeta gritted his teeth on the edge of patience. He nudged Bulma again; nothing.

"You're doing it wrong Vegeta! Let me do it!" Goku tried to move Vegeta and only got an intimidating growl. "Fine, but you're still doing it wrong." Vegeta ignored the statement as Bulma's eyes slowly opened, fluttering closed soon after. Sweat drenched aqua strands slid over a beautiful Goddess's face as Bulma turned her head to face Vegeta, opening weary eyes. Vegeta almost smiled in relief but stopped himself and grunted at her.

***

Bulma stared into Obsidian eyes, the world wavering around her. If I just stare into those eyes, everything will be alright. She just stared into his intense eyes for the longest time before clearing her sore throat and attempting to speak.

"V-Vegeta…" She coughed and Vegeta leaned back a moment, a disgusted look on his face. Bulma frowned, casting her face into pure puzzlement. "Don't be an ass Vegeta, I really don't feel well." Vegeta grunted, clearly unhappy but didn't argue. Bulma turned her head to stare at the ceiling, pain sliding through her body like a molten liquid. Her skin, her insides, her body seethed, and her mouth went wide in a silent scream. Vegeta's eyes widened and he quickly placed a hand on her stomach as she arched her back, pushing her gently but firmly down. He turned his head and glared at Goku, who was standing there like a dummy.

"KAKEROT! You fool! Hurry, go get a Senzu Bean or the Sire or something! Don't just stand there!" Vegeta growled, and Goku jumped at his command, quickly leaving to do as he said. Vegeta felt Bulma ease under his hand and he slowly, cautiously moved it from her stomach. He kissed her slick forehead gently and whispered into her ear "It's alright Bulma, you're going to be alright." Bulma didn't say anything, she didn't respond, she had passed out. Vegeta sat there, gently stroking her hair, staring down at her impassive face. He smiled some, almost sadly as she mumbled non-sense dream talk and rolled over so her back was to him. Damn him, Kakerot where the hell are you? Vegeta growled in his head, wondering where Goku had gone. He had been gone 15 minutes when Vegeta heard the door open. He stood up quickly, turning ready to scream at Goku when his eyes fell and looked at the Sire.

"Where is the child?" Her candy voice questioned, smiling blankly up at the embarrassed Saiyan. Vegeta just mumbled, stepping out of the way so she could see Bulma, laying helplessly on the bed. The Sire didn't say anything, her face didn't even give anything away as she walked up beside the bed, staring at Bulma.

"Well?" Vegeta growled impatiently.

"Well, I think I'll need to be alone with her." She said blankly, leaning over Bulma. Vegeta opened his mouth to argue but thought better of it. He turned and hmphed, crossing her arms as he left the room.

"Did I drain a bit much from you last night my child?" The Sire smirked, laughing softly. "Well well, we shall fix that little problem now shall we?" Celerina turned Bulma back on her back and cupped her face in her hands. Bulma shivered under the cold touch, not conscious of her actions. Her hands glowed black, the darkness spreading over Bulma's entire body until she levitated above her bed. Celerina's hands were positioned a few inches under Bulma's back, palms up. The darkness grew darker, and spread outwards until nearly the whole room swam in the deep dark depression the power gave off. Bulma's back arched, her eyes opening wide but no sound came from her wide open mouth. Her hands went to her throat as her body jerked violently, slowly floating back down to the bed as Celerina moved her hands. Bulma stared up at the Sire, eyes wide and fearful. The fear was wiped away with one sweep of Celerina's hand over Bulma's face. Bulma's face went slack and she slept, instantly.

***

Vegeta paced outside the door, impatience showing clear on his face. He felt helpless somehow, helpless to help Bulma.

"That woman had better be alright, or…or….or…ARG!" He shook his head growling. "She drives me so mad!" Vegeta growled, slamming the side of his closed fist against the wall. Goku tilted his head, with the look of thought upon his face. Vegeta's enraged face slowly turned into amusement.

"What's so funny Vegeta?" Goku said, an idiotic grin on his face.

"You should see your face when your TRYING to think, the effort shows and it's hilarious." Vegeta said cruelly, anything was better than letting panic for Bulma show on his face.

"What do you mean?" Goku asked, dumbfounded.

"Never mind you fool!" Vegeta rolled his eyes impatiently.

"Alright Vegeta, but if anything's bothering you, you should tell me!" Goku grinned laughing. "I'll help if I can."

"The only way you'd be able to help me is if you lit yourself on fire and jumped off a cliff with no Senzu Beans and your energy level down to 0!" Vegeta scowled.

"Oh Vegeta, you're such a kidder!" Goku laughed.

Vegeta glared "Yeah, I'm full of jokes.." He opened his mouth to insult him further when the door opened.

"Azul beauty is going to be alright, I gave her some of my energy to help sustain her." Celerina said sweetly as if it was an act of heroism.

"Thank you SIRE!" Goku jumped up and down.

"You may call me Celerina if you wish." She said sighing.

"Thank you woman, we thank you for your help." Vegeta mumbled. The Sire's face thinned with the first hints of anger.

"You are quite welcome…Prince." She said bitterly, but held her calm. Vegeta frowned at the title. Everyone called him Vegeta, Bulma only called him Prince when she was royally pissed, other than that, nobody called him Prince.

"When will she be able to walk and get up and about?" Goku said into the tension that he felt building.

"Later today, maybe in a few hours." She shrugged and the small movement looked graceful as her golden spiraled hair bounced with the movement of her head as she tilted it. "It is only 10:30 a.m. now…" She thought about it for a moment. "Maybe around 3:00 p.m." She nodded confirming herself. Vegeta rubbed his eyes slowly, seeming weary.

"Alright, where's Luana?" He looked at Celerina. "Do you know?'

"I believe she went to the eating corridors, if you're going down there you'll meet the rest of the shipmates. Mostly women." She smiled and brushed past him down the hallway. Goku looked at Vegeta who merely shrugged and followed after the short beauty.

***

"Kassidy, you know that red lipstick clashes horribly with your armor." Luana said snobbishly. "Oh my Goddess, you're right Luana, why didn't I notice when I put it on!" The young warrior sounded panicked.

"Oh don't worry Kassidy, we all make those kind of mistakes, just try not to let it happen again." She smiled encouragingly and belittling at the same time.

"Even you?" The younger warrior asked softly.

"Of course not silly." Luana snorted as if it were obvious that she could not make such a mistake.

"Oh…my…mmm." Kassidy nearly drooled staring over Luana's shoulder. "Who's that?"

"Who?" She turned around and her face fell into a dreamy daze. "Oh…" She said her voice airy. "That's Vegeta. He's one of the earthlings we picked up. Well not really an earthling, but living on Earth." She sighed wistfully.

"The tall one?" Kassidy licked her lips.

"Oh him?" Luana laughed. "That's just Goku, he's a clown, in fact he's just your type." She got up and left her tray of assorted foods at one of the dining tables. "Hello Goku," Luana gave him a quick glance and turned to Vegeta. "Oh, hello there Vegeta." She smiled up at him and he did his best for a fake smile in return. He did his best not to look disgusted as she stared at him with a dreamy expression.

"Where do we get the food, where!? WHERE WHERE WHERE!?" Goku literally jumped up and down with excitement. Luana glared at him and mumbled, pointing in a direction without even having to look where she was pointing. Goku gave an excited squeal and with a blink of an eye he was gone, after his first love…food. Vegeta rolled his eyes, snorting indignantly. He realized that Luana was still staring at him and he growled primitively.

"What are you staring at woman?" He demanded of her, crossing his well muscled arms over his chest, standing in his favorite cocky position.

"Do you have to be such an ass? I thought we had some fun last night." One of her sun tanned fingers traced along his cheek bone and it took Vegeta a bit of control not to pull away. It may have been fun on your part. Vegeta noted in his head. Kami, I let her touch me once and spend the night in my room and she's all over me. Vegeta pushed her hand away and brushed past her. Rolling his eyes he sighed lightly, wishing he hadn't thrown Bulma out. I will not give in to that woman first, if she loves me she'll have to admit it first! Even if it does mean making her jealous by pretending to sleep with Luana. If she gets jealous enough she'll admit her feelings to me! I'm a genius. Vegeta's cocky grin curled his lips and his eyes flicked over to his rival Saiyan. Goku was coming out of a doorway with a tray full of assorted foods. Vegeta could spot at least 10 bowls of rice, 12 bowls of assorted meat that looked mostly of fish and a number of other things. Goku concentrated a bit hard on walking, all the while watching his tray with a frown on his face and his tongue between his teeth, making sure not to spill anything. Vegeta's grin turned into a malicious smirk. Walking up behind the taller Saiyan totally ignoring Luana, Vegeta tapped his back, setting off a chain reaction. Goku yelped, throwing his tray up in the air by surprise. His mouth went wide and he had seconds to catch everything. After catching eight bowls of meat and five bowls of rice he was out of room for the rest. Vegeta laughed cockily, catching the remainder of four bowls of meat, five bowls of rice, two bottles of what looked like water, and two bowls of noodles.

"I do believe you dropped these Kakerot." He received a glare from Goku and laughed walking to the nearest table. As Goku walked awkwardly over to the table and set his stuff down he reached out for the contents that Vegeta had caught and Vegeta smacked his hand away. "If I was going to let you eat these I would have let you lick them off the floor instead of catching them Kakerot, these are mine." Vegeta's voice came low with a growl vibrating his words.

"Vegeta!" Goku whined, not wanting to give up any of his precious food.

"Kakerot.." Vegeta mimicked Goku's whining voice.

"You're so mean." Goku pouted and sat down sourly.

"Am I growing old and losing my memory or didn't we cover this earlier?" Vegeta scowled at Goku who began eating his food rather slowly now that he was in a bitter mood.

"Well if you weren't such a spoiled sport.." Goku muttered childishly.

"You're such a child Kakerot, grow up. Just because you are strong doesn't mean you can act like a fool whenever you feel like it!" Vegeta lashed out, shoving a spoon full of noodles into his mouth.

"Not to change the subject but…" Goku lifted his head, eyes scanning behind Vegeta. "Why is everyone staring at us?" Vegeta looked over his shoulder and glared at everyone, who immediately went back to their eating activities. Vegeta gritted his teeth, clearly pissed off. Vegeta stood, scanning his eyes over the crowd eating in the make shift `cafeteria'.

"Didn't your leader teach any of you some MANNERS!" Vegeta snapped, his breathing labored with anger. Everyone seemed to freeze, stiffen.

"Of course I did," Celerina's candy voice came floating through the room. Everyone immediately got out of their seats, literally dropping whatever they were doing, whether they were in the middle of eating or talking. Everyone kneeled down, head lowered in a submissive fashion. Vegeta turned to face his rival…though it was hard because he too had kneeled on the floor. Vegeta raised an eyebrow.

"Stupid baka…" Vegeta mumbled and turned back to face Celerina who was at the room entrance.

"I'm sorry if my…crew has insulted you in some way Prince." Celerina walked gracefully over to him and bowed her head. Vegeta raised his chin and crossed his arms in defiance.

"What are…were they staring for?" He asked crankily.

"Well Prince, they are not used to seeing male warriors for one…and for another thing, they have never seen anyone move quite as fast and brilliantly as you just did when you caught Goku's food." She replied in a tone that sounded like it was the obvious answer. Vegeta just rolled his eyes, shaking his head and sighed.

"Fine, but that doesn't make it any less annoying." Vegeta commented and sat back down, putting his back to the Sire which sent a gasp shivering through the on-watching female warriors. The Sire turned to face the sea of warriors that kneeled on the ground.

"You all may rise now." Celerina said smiling, her voice the same as it ever was, but it seemed to carry through the entire room. They all rose, oddly it was a graceful movement. Like water rippling in a building, one fluid movement of bodies.

"Shall we kill him Sire!?" Came a shocked feminine voice from amongst the crowd. Celerina laughed, throwing her head back. All the female warriors seemed to stiffen, not sure what to make of it.

"My dear child..." Celerina began but she felt a certain Prince's power boil behind her.

"You better keep your females in check woman, if you don't, I will kill them all!" Vegeta slammed his bowl down and stood, closing his eyes. A smirk curled across his face, but his rising power said he wasn't the least bit happy. "You know I can do it too Sire..." He spat the word Sire out like it was profanity.

"You could not!" Came an angered female's voice. Celerina whipped her gaze to the speaker and lifted her hand up slowly.

"Come here child." She smiled, but it was bitter. A woman with raven black hair, chocolate brown eyes and pale skin walked out of the sea of females. She seemed hesitant with every step she took and looked over to Vegeta who was glaring Ki beams at her. She seemed to shrink down upon herself as she flinched at his intense obsidian eyes. Kneeling down, the raven black hair beauty lowered her head in a submissive position. The Sire offered her hand and she took it, kissing the knuckles gently.

"What does the Sire wish of me?" The woman said softly.

"Why so cautious Lily?" The Sire asked bitterly, glaring down at the younger woman.

"I...I don't know Sire." She said after a few moments. Celerina traced her finger gently down the side of the Lily's face and the woman whimpered.

"What's the matter child? You're not scared are you?" Celerina smirked, a sadistic movement of her lips. Lily looked up slowly, the lump in her throat noticeable.

"Everyone's afraid of you S-sire." She said shortly, as if it were obvious. Celerina's seemingly delicate fingers closed around the younger woman's neck and her gagging sounds could be heard through-out the cafeteria. Celerina's feet left the floor, floating and dangling the young warrior by her neck as she kicked her feet helplessly. Neat polished finger nails dug into Egyptian Goddess tan skin as the girl struggled to free herself from the Sire's grasp. Vegeta's eyes flicked around and all the women had gone back to kneeling in submissive form, and he smirked, somewhat admiring the Sire's dominant control over so many people. Obsidian eyes flicked back up to the floating figures in the air, smirking further more as he could see the life leaking out of the one called Lily.

"Sire please!" Bellowed a familiar female voice as Luana stood quickly, bending her elbows in and clenching her fist. "Please Sire! You're going to kill her!" Luana glared defiantly up at her `master'. Celerina's face shifted from sadistic to bitter in the blink of an eye.

"You forget your place Luana!" She threw out her free hand towards Luana, a red energy beam flying at the defiant figure. Luana took one step back readying herself for the attack and crossed her wrists in front of her face. The beam went straight for her and slammed into an invisible barrier that flashed vibrant green on contact. The beam exploded, the force sending Luana back a few steps but she was ready for another attack within seconds, hands up, fingers spread, palms toward the Sire. Celerina threw Lily into the wall, floating back down, eyes wide in a small amount of surprise as she eyed Luana over.

"Do they always disobey your command woman?" Came the warm-icy voice of Vegeta, laughter edged into the words, mocking.

"No.." Celerina's voice dropped a few notches as she lowered her head, eyes still trained on Luana. "Never.." She spread her hands a bit from her sides, fingers spread and palms towards Luana. "You want to challenge my authority Luana?" Black electricity flashed along her arms and hands. Luana didn't flinch, didn't let herself falter, she just lowered her hands, dropping to one knee and lowering her head.

"Of course not master…" She said it as if it hurt to say the words.

"Then watch your tongue, see to Lily, and make sure to tell her to watch her tongue as well." Spinning around to look at Vegeta, the candy smile returned to her face like a brilliant show, just for the Prince. "Shall we finish breakfast then?" She asked sweetly, as if nothing had happened. Vegeta nearly grunted and returned to his food, seeing that Goku had too. Celerina turned to go but stopped and turned back around again. "Oh and Prince…"

"What?" Vegeta said haughtily.

"Sparring tournament starts this afternoon at 1:00 p.m., it's 11:56 a.m. now, hope I've given you enough notice. If you need directions to where it is, Luana can show you." With that, she left.

"A TOURNAMENT!?" Goku nearly peed his pants. "WOW! Are we going Vegeta? Are we?" He whined like an anxious child who had spotted the cotton candy.

"Of course Kakerot, you know I never miss the opportunity to fight you…or anyone else." His usual smirk set in place, Vegeta went back to eating, planning his effort to defeat his tall rival.
