The Sons arrived in Chibi Senshi City as soon as the got the story from Dende, but it was too late. The city had taken on the post-apocalyptic sheen of a war-zone. Sensei Kuririn's Dojo, the tallest and sturdiest building on the continent, had been sheared in half. The top half lay shattered in the street, while the bottom half stood tall, pock-marked with ragged holes. People ran through the streets, screaming and wailing over the bodies of the dead. Dust, smoke, and mists of blood filled the air. Police sirens whined faintly over the cries of the damned. Hands, bloodied and caked with the miniscule remnants of the dojo, reached up from between massive chunks of debris. Gohan and Goten had heard Goku describe the time he fell off of Snakeway numerous times, but they both decided, at the same time, that there was no way Hell could be worse than what had appeared before them.

It was at that moment that they were blinded by a bright light. The Sons were overjoyed and dismayed at the same time, because that sort of shine can come from only one thing: Sunlight reflecting off of a well-buffed, completely bald head. As terror filled his being, Goku performed a Zanzouken to the source of the light and did his best to uncover it. It was Kuririn!

"Kuririn! Are you okay?" Goku cried. But Kuririn didn't move. His eyes were closed in the deep, somnolent sleep of the dead. Kuririn had been given the dubious honor of being among the first wave of the new menace's victims.

By this time, Gohan and Goten had approached Kuririn's final resting place. "Mr. Kuririn?" Goten asked. "Are you okay?"

"No, Goten," Goku replied. "Kuririn is on Snakeway now."

"But where is him?" It then occurred to Goku that he had never spoken to Goten about death before. He admonished himself silently for not having the foresight to do this sooner. Being the son of a warrior, Goten would have to face death at some point in his life. But damn it, why did it have to be at this young age?

"I'll explain later, son. Right now, however, could you please just step away for a moment?" He looked up at Gohan with a grim look in his eyes. "Gohan, take him far away." Gohan nodded, knowing exactly what was about to happen. He took Goten's tiny hand in his and flew far away.

Goku remembered all too well what happened the last time he let his anger overtake him like it was about to. It hadn't happened since the Battle with Furiza on Namekkusei, but it happened, and it was enough to tip the balance of power just enough that he was able to defeat the tyrant once and for all (or so he believed at the time). He had managed to suppress his anger just long enough for Gohan and Goten to get clear, but now his feelings began to boil over, as well as all the memories he had of his best friend.

When Goku first met Kuririn, they were bitter rivals. By the end of their childhood, however, they had become great friends. They always did their best to defend one another, and would die for one another if need be. But now, once again, Kuririn was gone, There was no bringing him back this time, unless they went through the arduous task of killing Dende, going to New Namek, wishing Dende back to life, having him create new Dragonballs, and wishing back Kuririn. No, this would not happen. By the time all this was done, it would be too late to bring him back.

Unconsciously, Goku's anger forced him into the form of Super Saiyajin. It was just one strand at first, but soon his entire scalp was covered in fine, golden hair. His muscles began to bulge slightly, unable to contain the power that was filling them. At last, his skin seemed to give off a bright, golden glow, completing the transformation.

Then, Goku thought back to the Battle with Furiza. How Kuririn fought to the end, even though he knew at all times he was extremely outclassed. How even when he felt he couldn't go on, he manfully pushed every fiber of his being to press on. Right up to when Furiza killed him, he fought with all his mind, heart, and soul.

Greater anger filled Goku's heart as he recalled the events on Namekkusei, how they eventually led to the demise of his first true friend. A quick bolt of energy fired from his waist to his shoulder, then another one from his ankle to his heart, then another one from one bicep to the other. Soon, he seemed to absolutely sizzle with pure energy. His already long, golden hair grew at least another foot and his aura glowed with an unnatural glow, the glow of a dozen Suns.

Goku's attention soon turned to Android 18 and Marron, Kuririn's wife and daughter. 18's job at Capsule Corp. would surely keep them financially well off, but that was not what worried him. Grudgingly, 18 loved Kuririn with all her heart. She would be devastated when she found out her husband was dead. And little Marron, so tiny, so beautiful, how would she turn out with no father-figure to guide her? Whoever had killed Kuririn had not just ended the life of Goku's best friend; he had simultaneously crushed the heart of another and ruined the future of one more. Deaths had chain-reactions that spread to touch countless lives. With this one murder, along with the countless others that he would surely cause, he had single-handedly managed to end many lives, and ruin innumerable others.

Goku could no longer contain the rage that pooled within him. As the enormity of Kuririn's death finally hit him, he let out an animalistic howl of rage much deeper than that of his typical speaking voice. This, my friends, is the cry of those that have truly been hurt. A wail, mere tears. A scream, mere terror. But this, the cry of unrelenting, unforgiving, blood-red hatred and anger, this is the cry of those that are truly in pain. The air around him exploded with energy as he tore through the barrier of Super Saiyajin 3. His eyebrows disappeared as his hair lengthened to reach his ankles. His muscles grew more, stretching his skin as tight as it could go without tearing open. His bright golden aura flared, blinding everyone who had not been killed outright by the energy released through his transformation. "I swear by the name of all things holy that you will pay for this you SON OF A BITCH!!!" These last four words were less a curse than a throat-tearing, banshee-like cry. Goku made a solemn vow right then and there that he would not rest for an instant until his new adversary had been thoroughly erased from existence.

How about that? It seems Goku has become a third-level Super Saiyajin. Please R&R.

By the way, do you see a connection between the setting of this chapter and a certain day that no American will ever forget? You should, because I was inspired by the anniversary of 9/11. I hope you don't think I'm trying to make fame off of tragedy; it's just that I needed an idea. Hence the chapter title: "Forgive and Forget? Not Bloody Likely!" Please Review
