Chapter 7: Nightmares Don't Die…

If you think I'm going to keep coming up with clever disclaimers every update, you're crazy. This is the last disclaimer. *Clears Throat* I do not own any portion of Dragonball Z, save for a subscription to Cartoon Network and a few ROM files of Super Famicom DBZ games (Police are asked to disregard the previous ROM statement).
On a side note, it has been said by one person too many that I write like Oscar. I swear before all things holy that the next person that says I write like Oscar will be spitting up toenails for a week from having my foot planted so far up their ass.
This public service announcement has been brought to you be the letters F and U.
And now, "A Fusion of Worlds".

The Super Saiyajin could only stare, slack-jawed, at the quasi-Vegeta, Furita. It had finally clicked. Gohan said Piccolo once spoke with Nail's voice after they fused. This... thing... spoke with both his rival's voice and a long-vanquished enemy's voice. It was a long shot, but Goku, being Goku, had to venture a guess.
"Furiza?"
Furita laughed, returning to Vegeta's voice. "So, you finally figured it out, eh? The Great Kakarotto didn't destroy Furiza after all?
"But... how... how could you have survived? You were in pieces before Namekkusei blew. How in the blue hell did you manage to come out of that alive?
"Come on, Kakarotto. Give me a little credit. If Vegeta is gone, wouldn't it be safe to assume that Furiza is no more as well?" Goku only glared at the abomination. "Very well, I will explain. Though, I don't see what difference it makes. You'll still die.
"You did kill Furiza, I'll grant you that. But he was resurrected on Freezar and came here. He fused with Vegeta after threatening to torment his family. I am the result of their efforts."
Goku was on the verge of going insane. He was already half-mad with rage at this monster for killing his best friend, but now, to know that Furiza was alive and well in the form of some twisted genetic hybrid? It was enough to send any normal man over the edge and back.
"But no matter, Kakarotto," Furita explained. "Vegeta only agreed for two reasons. One: he didn't want to see his family suffer." Furita chuckled softly. "Fool, Furiza took over right after the Fusion and killed Bulma and Trunks. Two: he agreed because of the promise of power great enough to destroy you once and for all. The desires of Vegeta and Furiza live on in me. I'm afraid that the foremost desire on both of their minds was to have done away with you." Furita slowly descended to the apocalyptic chaos below. "But, for the sake of sport, I will allow you to have the first strike." He spread his arms out and lifted his face to the sky, in a pose of crucifixion. "Have at me, wonderboy!"

Somehow, Goku knew that this creature was truly a great deal stronger than Goku had ever been. It was at that moment that he knew he had only one chance at survival: misdirection. He only prayed that Vegeta didn't remember one of the greatest maneuvers of the Cell Games.
Goku floated a little higher and cupped his hands to one side as he began his trademark chant. "Kaaaa..."
Furita's smirk held fast, though a fleeting look of fear passed over his eyes..
"Meeee..."
The hint of worry passed as quickly as it came. There was no way Kakarotto would sacrifice the Earth to destroy Furita.
"Haaaa..."
Or would he? Both Furiza and Vegeta knew that Kakarotto had performed unpredictable, even illogical actions on behalf of the greater good.
"Meeee..."
Kakarotto was actually going to do it! He was going to destroy the planet to save the universe. Furita panicked, suddenly unsure of his ability to withstand such a mighty blast. He gathered his ki in his outstretched arms, a la Final Flash. Then, he snapped his arms in front of him, palms out, touching only at the wrists, and released the energy in a massive wave of destructive power.
But Kakarotto was gone.
Then, Furita heard a sound like a television being tuned to a channel receiving no frequency. He looked down and saw Kakarotto, squatting by Furita's feet, hands, glowing bright blue, cupped to the side. Furita tried to dodge, but it was too late. Kakarotto pushed his arms in front of him and spoke the final syllable of the deadly chant.
"HAAAAAAAA!!!"

A blue-white beam of energy erupted from Goku's hands as he spoke the final, fatal sound. Goku tried his best to steel himself against the kickback of the technique, but was launched back wards, unable to control the raging power of being SSJ3. He slammed into a nearby pile of debris and blacked out. His last conscious thought before then was "I got you, you bastard. I got you good."

But did he? Has Goku managed to do something that should be impossible, yet again? Find out in the next chapter of "A Fusion of Worlds".
