Chapter 2

The room was bursting with shocked chatter as Piccolo tried to calm everyone down. He finally slammed his fist on the table, making everyone in the room jump.

"ENOUGH!! ALL OF YOU BE QUIET!!" he screamed.

The room fell silent as everyone looked at Yamcha, dying to ask questions about the sister he never mentioned. After racking up enough courage, Krillin finally broke the silence.

"Why didn't you tell us you had a sister, Yamcha? Fifteen years of keeping it all to yourself and never telling ANYONE?"

Yamcha looked at Araena, then at Krillin before answering.

"I never mentioned her because I thought she had been killed…and I had always blamed myself. When we were still little kids this guy, Luo, attacked our family. My father had something he wanted and refused to give it up so Luo went after us. Our parents were separated from us and killed and then as Araena and I were trying to get away the ground caved in below her and she fell…I couldn't do anything. For the next few years I always blamed myself because I didn't think she made it out alive. I searched for her for the next two years, but after finding no trace of her I gave up. I didn't tell any of you because it was too painful to bring up and I thought that moving on was the best thing for me. It's odd because these last few months I've been having a dream, a dream about the night it all happened…maybe that was trying to tell me she was okay and that I'd find her again…that twin connection maybe…"

He looked to Araena again and smiled. "I've finally found my sister."

It was Goku's turn to ask a question now.

"So, what happened to you, Araena? Where were you all this time?"

"Well, when the ground caved in I fell a few good yards down and landed on level piece of ground that was jutting out of the hole, preventing me from falling down. I had hit my head on the way down so I was totally unconscious and I'm not sure how long I was out but when I woke up I was in a house I didn't recognize. A family had found me and nursed me back to health, but I wanted to find my brother so one night I left while everyone was asleep. I looked all over for him but never found him…I spent everyday thinking about him and what could have happened to him. Even though I never found him, something inside of me told me he wasn't dead, but I couldn't be totally certain. So there I was, no family, no friends, and nowhere to go…I basically became a wanderer and hunted my own food and slept in caves or in people's barns. Then a few years later Piccolo found me, I think I was 9 at the time, and he took me to Namek where he and Dende trained me everyday to become a great fighter. I never understood why they were doing it, but somehow it just felt right. Our dad had been a fighter but he never trained me since I was a girl but I had always been intrigued by it. So that's where I've been these past fifteen years…I just can't believe we've finally found one another again, Yamcha."

Master Roushi cleared his throat and stood up.

"Well, I'm glad you've been reunited, we'll need all the help we can get when fighting Silencer…if we fail we'll loose Earth and everything on it and won't be able to wish it back again. We have our work cut out for us this time."

The meeting ended and everyone went home, except for Yamcha and Araena. They went to the end of a cliff overlooking the sea and sunset to catch up on all the years they had missed.

"I can't believe you're here, Rae…it seems like forever since I last saw you," Yamcha said softly.

"Yeah, it does," replied Araena. "Yamcha, I don't want you to blame yourself for what happened. We were only 4 years old at the time and you did what you could. It wasn't your fault, shit happens right?"

Yamcha let out a laugh. "You always did know how to phrase things, didn't you?"

"You know, Piccolo never told me about you…he either didn't know we're brother and sister or he's pretending he didn't. I always had faith that we'd find each other again someday, I was just afraid of running across your gravestone instead of you. I've missed you so much, Yamcha. After Mom and Dad were killed I thought I'd die, too, but my hope of finding you kept me alive. Even though we have to fight side by side against this Silencer guy, I'm glad we're together again. We'll kick some major ass and make up for lost time!"

Yamcha smiled something he hadn't done in a long time and nodded at his sister, now he had a family again.
