Chapter Six: Prophecy
"Six hundred elites are enough to intimidate anyone... just set up camp by the rebel perimeters and you will see how fast all this foolishness ends." Vegeta no Ou presided this meeting, which meant matters were more serious that he made them out to be. Because of that fucking bastard Kakarotto I lost all sense of my surroundings, I had no idea what they were talking about... what were this rebels up to now?
"But Ou-sama we do not know were they hide, We've gotten several different tips as far as to where their hide out location is...What I believe we should is, take our chances and split several squads to the targets we think they might attack next." General Mosroum finished his idiotic speech... how did he get such a high rank being this stupid? I sat besides my prince who had been unusually quiet throughout this meeting, he usually told everyone how foolish he thought they were and how ridiculous their ideas were. And Vegeta no Ou didn't seem too focused either, I caught him watching me several times, undressing me with his eyes... hmph, old fucking pervert...
Mosroum waited for some sort of answer from either father or son, since it never came he continued.
"My informants told me their next target is the water purification plants. The most damage they can do is contaminate the reserves and corrupt the main computer programs... nothing that can't be fixed in a matter of days." The Prince got to his feet and made his way to the door without a word. I didn't know whether to follow or not, I looked at his father for the answer.
"Vegeta?!" the Ou called from the head of the conference table, the prince turned without answering.
"Where are you going... this meeting is not over."
"I heard enough, I have better things to do with my time than to listen to this fool talk all this trash. If he needs your advice in handling the rebels, then he's got no business being the head of your army." Vegeta's tone to his father was getting worse by the minute. He seemed very unhappy with the way his sire handled things... which could only mean, Vegeta will challenge the king for the throne soon... at least I hoped.
"Are you saying that you can do a better job at it?" the sarcasm in the king's voice seemed to enrage Vegeta even more.
"I am saying to stop thinking with your dick and start acting like a king... but if you must know... yes I can do it better." He met his father's sarcasm with a double dose of his own... this is getting ugly... Vegeta no Ou and his son just stood there glaring at each other, the tension in the room could be cut with a sword. The king shifted his eyes from the prince and turned them to Mosroum.
"General Mosroum... I think is time for you to take a very well deserved vacation... my `brat' here has offered to take your duties from you... isn't he the generous princeling?" Vegeta's eyes narrowed to slits but said nothing. I just sat there staring stupefied along with the rest of the council, watching the two strongest wills ever to live collide.
"Thank you Ou-sama." Mosroum bowed to the king, and then he turned to Vegeta to do the same, but was met with a powerful ki blast, that destroyed the far wall behind the King. Mosroum barely had time to dodge it before it could pulverize him as well.
"Raditz." The prince addressed me; dismissing the scene he just caused and walked out of the room expecting me to follow. I of course did, but not before meeting his father's eyes in apology.
+
"Vegeta!" I called once in the hallway, he turned and waited for me to catch up... very unlikely of him... "Why did you do that for? I couldn't help but question the one I love. He just gave me a strange look and resumed his step.
"Fine don't tell me, but..."
"Where do the rebels hide?" he asked cutting me off and changing the subject... could it be that he is up to this?
"No one knows for sure," I answered, "Mosroum has not been able to find out, and for the looks of it Intelligence hasn't captured anyone alive to interrogate. According to some reliable sources though, they move often." He seemed to reflect on what I just said... I would give anything to know what he was plotting.
"What reliable sources are these?" he asked after a while.
"Are you doing this Vegeta?!"
"Answer my question."
"Spies... I believe." I said lowly not really knowing... or caring for that matter.
"Spies... you believe... what the fuck is that supposed to mean... aren't you supposed to be the top elite?! You should be on top of these matters." He snapped and I felt as if a ton of rocks fell on my back.
"I am... but I have nothing to do with the military, I serve you and..."
"And you fuck my father and meddle into my affairs... really Raditz what are you good for?" the ton of rocks became a hundred... of all of his insults this was the worst, not because of the words themselves but because it was true... what else was I good for?
"Sorry..." I said lowly, he didn't acknowledge my apology and continued walking down the hall, I fell instinctively a step behind not feeling worthy of walking alongside him. We went down the halls and into one of the many secret passages in the palace... this one I knew well, it was the one Vegeta most often used... his favorite if you will. It led to the basement... I cringed at the thought of it.
I hated this place with a passion, the screams and the smell of death and filthiness never ceased to disgust me. We walked the all too familiar corridors and down to the main torture chamber... most likely looking for her.
"Ouji-sama... long time no see!" her sultry voice greeted us, the insolent woman didn't even bow to her prince. "My Raditz... you look better and better every time I see you... why don't you come down here to play with me sometime?" I gave her a disgusted smirk and rolled my eyes at her... if there is one Saiyan I do not like... Celipa had to be it.
"We're not here to play. I have a few questions to ask." Vegeta said dismissing her insolent comment.
"I heard... so you're going rebel hunting huh?" how the hell does she know already?... only her though, nothing escaped this woman. More than likely she knew about Kakarotto as well... and maybe even the mark. Vegeta made his way across the room and sat on the chair he often did while watching prisoners being tortured. There was a half dead naked woman lying down, arms and legs wide open on a stretch table... I don't even want to think what was being done to her.
"Do you mind covering that?" I said pointing my nose to it; Celipa only smirked and blasted the female to the next dimension. I had to step aside not to get soiled by blood and innards.
"She must be in hell thanking you both for showing up... I wasn't nearly done with her. Come Ouji-sama let's go to my office." Vegeta got up and followed her without a word; I levitated not to step on all that gore and followed them as well. It never ceased to amaze me how detached and cruel Celipa was, as I reflected on this I tried not to stare at her tail as it swinged from side to side happily... hmph, the woman didn't even had the presence of mind to wrap it around her waist, if anything because Vegeta was here. Down here she was absolute authority, I wondered if she ever went up or even left the palace at all.
We made it to her `office' if it could be called that. I for one was relieved to leave all that gore and putrefaction behind.
"So... did you find your pet Ouji-sama?" she began conversationally, completely and totally disregarding the fact that no one was supposed to know. She had no respect for anyone... just like that stupid third class idiot. Even those who could kill them with one blow... namely Vegeta and I.
"I will not ask how you know, but I will tell you this... it isn't any of your business." Vegeta said coldly and she only smirked.
"Well then I won't tell you he looks like someone I know." She said dismissively. Vegeta's expression didn't change, but I could tell he cared.
"Where do the rebels hide?" Vegeta continued ignoring the comment, he had sat on a chair and I stood directly behind it.
"Do you think Mosroum hasn't been here enough times to ask me that?" she sat on her own seat, her tail snaking in front of her so she could play with it... hmph, disgusting
"He's an idiot... I'll give you twenty-four hours to find out." The prince got up to leave.
"I don't have anyone to ask... the rebels are sneaky little bastards and the few we capture just cease breathing till they die..." she protested sounding worried for the first time.
"That would be your problem now would it?" Vegeta said coldly, "if you have time to find out about my pets, you have time to do your job."
"I do know the rebels are linked to the hunters somehow." She added nervously... I've never seen her like that before, sure she was afraid of Vegeta... we all are, but even then she's never shown her fear before.
"You have a basement full of equipment and prisoners and that's all you know?!... You're lucky I am in a good mood; I should have to wait for your sorry ass to do your duty. Twenty-four hours is being more than generous... I should make it half that!" Vegeta's voice was darker than his usual snot.
"But Ouji-sama..."
"Ouji-sama nothing... am I surrounded by incompetent idiots!" He threw his arms in frustration and walked out of the room, "Twenty-four hours... tomorrow at this time I expect a full report from you. Understood?!" he called from outside. "Raditz!" I looked towards the door.
"Who does he look like?" I asked hurriedly, assuming she'd know what I was referring to... She gave me a puzzled look.
"Don't you remember?" her voice sounded different, hesitant... as if she was saying too much.
"Raditz!!" Vegeta called again and his tone didn't sound none too pleased, I hmphed in frustration and hurried out the door after him... what did she mean by that... remember... who?
+++
I woke up in the middle of the night... I think it was so dark that I couldn't even see myself. I was in a small cramped cage of some sort, naked and my head pounded mercilessly. I brought a hand to the source of the pounding and felt a big, damp lump. I brought me hand to my nose and smelt the blood there... kuso, they got me hard! I tried to shift from the uncomfortable position I was in, but I could hardly even move in the small cramped space, I winced out loud and immediately the door opened bringing in such bright light that I had to shield my eyes from it.
"I see you woke up..." I smirked at the irony of this, the very same words I heard a few weeks ago by someone else... Vegeta, "did you have a nice nap?" the amused voice continued.
"Where am I!?" I demanded, "where's the woman with me?!"
"Feisty little third class eh?" the voice chuckled, "do you know what we do with third class filth...brat?" he asked in the same amused voice that was enraging me to no end.
"I don't give a fuck!" If I was to be killed, I'd be damned to go down a whiny coward..
"Hmph," the voice chuckled again as the lights came on. I could now see that I was being held in a small room with nothing but my cage. The voice that greeted me became a tall lanky Saiyan with short cropped hair. I suddenly felt embarrassed by my nakedness, but tried to look tough and menacing. The man came closer to the cage and smiled broadly.
"You're lucky you wield that mark." He said pointing at my thigh, "and me thinks you know it." I cringed looking the other way... kuso! To be saved by Vegeta's mark was disgracing... but never mind that... if they didn't kill me because of Vegeta's seal on my thigh, that meant they will most likely contact him for ransom... that is if they haven't already.
"You're crazy if you think he cares, I escaped can't you see that moron? If he wants me back would be to kill me." I said offhandedly, not at all sure why wasn't I playing this to my advantage.
"Whatever he'll do to you we could care less... as long as he pays." the tall man smirked evilly.
"Where's the woman?!" I demanded once more ignoring his response.
"I don't know... probably with the other pets... or maybe with the boss," he smirked at this, " I was told to mind you and you alone... why do you ask?" he lit a cigarette and let it hang from his mouth as he spoke dismissively.
"Why... why are you to mind to me?"
"Until the boss comes back and decided what to do with you... you ought to be honored, the boss only deals with the utmost important matters chibi-kun." again he smirked.
"Can I get my clothes at least?" I snapped.
"If you ask like that... no, haven't your third class parents taught you any manners? Besides, I kind of like looking at you... you're pretty" this time he laughed obnoxiously, I narrowed my eyes to slits and I began pounding the cage trying to get free, right now all I wanted to do was kick his ass so hard, but nothing, I couldn't budge them at all, I bared my teeth at him and he kept on laughing at my futile efforts.
"Those will dampen your ki... I wouldn't touch them too much if I were you."
"Toma." Another man came into the room. "He'll see him now." the man called Toma came to the cage, I glared at him as hatefully as I could, he phased out of sight and the next thing I knew I had a collar around my neck. He opened the cage and I was all too ready to lunge at him with all I got, but the thought didn't translate into actions, instead I felt sluggish and my limbs felt as if they weighted a ton. I could hardly move to get out of the cage at all.
"I wouldn't move too much if I were you," he said grabbing me by the arm and pulling me out. "The more you move the weaker you'll get." He threw a loose tunic which I gratefully grabbed and covered myself with as best as I could. Again I was grabbed by the arm and pulled out of the room. The place had no windows, so I couldn't tell where we were, I was not even sure who these people were. But I had the feeling that I owed Chivaa an apology for not believing her. I should have listened to her, if I had, we wouldn't be in this mess right now... I just hoped she's alright.
I was pulled through a vast place, filled with all sort of sculptures and valuables. It almost looked like a cave, we came to a massive set of double doors. I looked at my surroundings, trying to commit to memory every detail to formulate an escape plan later. But as it was I found it hard to keep my head steady, I felt so weak.
We went through the doors and into a room that resembled some sort of throne room, full of women and food. I've never seen anything like this, not even at Vegeta's palace. His harem room was luxurious... but nothing like this. The man named Toma brought me to stand in front of another man, who sat on the throne at the center of the room. The smell of the roast meat was making me dizzy... I was so hungry.
"So..." the man sitting on the throne stated, "you're the one everybody is making a fuzz about."...a fuzz?
"Let me see it?!" he slapped, Toma nudged my side... I had no idea what they were talking about, I just wanted to lay down. The man got up and came to me. "Which one?" he asked Toma.
"Right one," he answered, and the other man pulled the tunic to look at my right thigh. He came closer to look at the small seal on my leg.
" ...I'll be damned," he gasped, "you were right... it is real." he said, I looked from one man to the other puzzled, "did you tell him?" the man asked Toma, I wished someone would tell me what the hell was going on.
"Not yet... you want me to?"
"He probably already knows." The two forgot about me and continued their conversation.
"What do I do with him in the mean time?" Toma asked.
"Keep the collar on him and put him in an isolated room.. I don't even know if this was part of the plan."
"He never said anything about the boy coming to us." This conversation was getting weirder by the second... tell who... who already knows... what plan?
"Well... until he tells us what to do, keep him safe... we don't need no Ouji breaking havoc here."
"Don't worry... this is the safest place from the price he could be." Toma muttered in an attempt to keep me from hearing... if they didn't want Vegeta to get me... who was it they were talking about? My head was hurting tremendously from the effort it took to eavesdrop. I looked at their worried expressions wondering again who this mysterious someone could be.
"What about your daughter?" The nameless man asked, Toma just hmphed and spoke tightly.
"I'll take care of her." Then he pulled me away and out the door. I wanted to ask him so many things, but my voice was gone... this fucking thing around my neck was not only making me weak, but mute as well.
I was brought to a different room, this one had a bed, a side table, a chair and a toilet... hmph, very luxurious accommodations for a third class prisoner.
"Ok , this is your new home for now... until we figure out what to do with you," he threw me on the bed and I could not be more thankful for it. "And by the way, you'll be able to talk tomorrow, that's one of the collar's side effects, it disables your ability to talk until your system gets used to it... and don't be trying to escape now, I'll tell you right now that is impossible, and if you try, you'll get yourself into a lot of trouble... and your girlfriend too." I gave him a helpless look and he left me alone with all this questions to ponder upon.
+++
"Time's up." Vegeta said standing behind Celipa; she turned to face him, not at all surprised to see us there.
"Vegeta-sama," I had to smirk at her change of demeanor.
"Come with me." Vegeta said making his way to her office. I followed after them as disgusted as always.
"What do you have for me?" Vegeta wasted no time, he asked immediately as soon as the doors closed.
"Unfortunately not much Ouji-sama." Celipa responded gravely.
"That is not what I expected to hear."
"I know Ouji-sama... but you gave me not enough time."
"What do you know?" my prince asked ignoring her pathetic excuse.
"It seems the rebels are linked to the hunters as far as my informant gathered, it seems they're sending spies disguised as slaves, with the purpose to gather information from us."
"That sounds ridiculously preposterous!" I snapped indignantly... how stupid can she be to believe that?... hmph and to think that I had thought her more intelligent than most male elites.
"Who's your informant?" Vegeta asked... did he actually consider this to be a fact?
"Some random Hunter we captured, no one high enough to know more than that... he did give other details."
"About?"
"Your pet." If I could kill her I would, right here and now... what was her obsession with the boy, why did she have to mention him every time?
"What about him?" Vegeta asked falling for it.
"They captured him a few days ago by the river... him and some female pet," I stiffened, could she possibly know that I had something to do with it?
"Hmph," was all Vegeta said, bringing his fingers to his shoulder... that shoulder, and caressing the mark gently. "What else do you know about the rebels?"
"Both rebels and hunters linked by one man... nothing more Ouji-sama."
"Anything about their whereabouts?"
"Forest... at least the Hunters, our prisoner... died before I could get the exact location... but at least we have where to start looking." She said fixing her eyes on me, she was acting very strange today... ant it had nothing to do with her fear for Vegeta. "What should I do Ouji-sama?"
"Nothing... get me some more useful information... who is this man that controls the rebels behind the scenes? I have no grudges against the Hunters, as far as I'm concerned they serve their purpose in society." Vegeta said turning to leave.
"About your pet?" her voice was hesitant, but not enough to keep her from reminding my prince of the bastard's existence.
"What about him... I told you before; it isn't any of your business. Do not make me repeat myself." Vegeta bore his eyes into hers sealing his threat, then turned to me. "Let's go Raditz."
He left the room and I followed, as I passed her, her tail came to wrap around my arm, halting me, I looked at the appendage disgusted.
"We need to talk," was all she said and let me go.
+++
"Do you think it is true?" I asked my prince once we were away from that horrible place.
"What is?" Vegeta's voice was cold and reserved.
"About the pet."
"So what if it is." His voice didn't change.
"Are you going to get him back?" I knew I was playing with fire... but I had to know, I had to know where Vegeta stood on this. No answer, I tried another approach. "He did escape with that female, you shouldn't allow him to make a fool of you Vegeta." I prepared myself for his wrath... it never came.
"They have him... they'll contact me, and if they don't, I guess that saves me the effort of dealing with them." His fingers went to his shoulder and rubbed it gently.
"Do you want him back?" As much as I feared the answer I had to know.
"Yes."
"Yes?! I see." I whispered defeated.
"You asked me, were you expecting anything but the truth."
"No... but I mean... he did escape with that slave... I thought..." I was at a loss for words.
"I said I want him back... I didn't say what for." He smirked mischievously, this gave me a new sense of hope... just you wait Kakarotto... just you wait.
"I can take care of them for you... they're not worth your time." He fixed his eyes on mine, the smirk still played on his features beautifully.
"And you're not worth the reward," he mused, "you can take care of the woman, my mate... you leave to me." ... my mate.
+++ Meanwhile...Somewhere else+++
"What do we do with him?" Toma asked sitting across from his old friend.
"Don't worry about my brat, he'll be fine... if I were you I'd worry about Chivaa... I see a very dark future for her if she stays where she is." The said old friend said sipping from his cup.
"You creep me out when you talk like that." Toma smiled uneasily, after all these years, he still couldn't get used to Bardock's premonitions and prophecies. He believed him of course, everything the man said always came to pass... everything. The only time he had ever doubted his best friend had cost the both of them dearly...
+++ Flashback+++
The fire was everywhere; it was impossible to see the actual house anymore. Toma struggled through the inferno in search of any signs of life... Kuso! If only had he listened to Bardock... if only had he had more faith in the only person he knew who was never wrong. The blaze and smoke made it impossible to see beyond a few inches... there were no screams... no cries for help, only the fire cracking its way to total destruction.
"Carlis... Shiva!!" like a mantra he repeated the names of those he let down. Sustaining injuries and barely able to breathe he made his way to the master room of the house. In there he could vaguely make up a lump of bodies against a corner, he ran to then not caring about the burns he took, but dreading what he might find. Yes what he saw were indeed bodies... his mate's and Bradock's cramped against one another as if protecting something, with a knot in his throat and tears in his eyes he moved the still ki infused charred remains of his beautiful mate, and those of the woman they had bowed to protect. And under them he saw his little girl alive... alive and well curled up in a ball, holding Kakarotto in the same protective way their mothers held them.
"Papa..." his tears became a roar of frustration... of rage and of relief. He would not let them down; he would not let their sacrifice go in vain. He took both children and with strength he did not know he possessed he flew out of there into the dark night. Leaving his love behind... Shiva...
Outside he could make the outline of Bardock kneeling on the ground, shoulders shaking, tears pooling on the ground below him.
"Sorry..." was all he could say, he let him down, let them down. Toma set Chivaa on the ground and took Kakarotto from her tiny possessive arms and handed him to his friend. Bardock's tear filled orbs met his, and the guilt and pain Toma felt would never be atoned. Bardock took his child in his arms and held him tight, the babe's little tail curled around his father's forearm and giggled not knowing what he just lost.
"Bardock..." His friend halted him with a sturdy hand.
"Raditz will not come," he said simply, his tears gone, his face once again a stone mask of knowledge.
"Where are we going?" Toma dared ask.
"To the one place no one would think to look for us... the slums."
+++ End of Flashback+++
Both their mates were killed and Bardock's oldest brat was taken by Vegeta no Ou. But instead of hating Toma for it, they took their brats and escaped to the slums in the commotion. Hoping the King believed them to have been killed in that fire.
"I know and I'm sorry... but right now the time is almost at hand." Bardock looked out the window of his hut in the slums. Letting Kakarotto go was the hardest thing he had ever had to endure since that night so many years ago. Toma knew that well. But in order to realize the prophecy it had to be done. Toma turned to his old friend once more and gave him a bitter smile.
"... I am sorry, but you must believe now more than ever, things will only get harder from here on out." he said the words softly.
"I know old friend... didn't send my only daughter into the hands of those monsters, like you said I should? As much as I bitch and complain, if I didn't believe you I wouldn't have. Chivaa... is all I have left." Toma broke down unable to continue, talking about the mate his own faithlessness killed, was not something he could do... even after all this time. " Enough crying man!" He snapped out of it, "what's next?"
"First of all move Chivaa to a safe place, remove that tracker device off her and hide her well... they're coming for her and if she is caught... she will not survive."
"What about your brat?"
"I am inclined to leave him where he is... but?"
"But what man?!"
"If the Ouji finds him now..." Bardock seem out of it.
"He will kill him?"
"No... Raditz is more likely to kill his own brother... than Vegeta."
"I thought you said he couldn't, that you put something in his mind along with the memory block." Toma asked confused.
"Even with the mind suppressants; his hate for Kakarotto is so great now... that I don't think they will stop him." Bardock sighed deeply and took another sip of his drink ... brother against brother... this isn't what he would have dreamed for them, but what must pass must pass. "Vegeta will not kill Kakarotto no matter what happens."
"Then what should we do with him?"
"I don't know..."
"Bardock! For years I've listened to you and the prophecy that must come to pass in order for all Saiyans to be finally free... I even gave up my daughter, because you said that she will play a very important role in our future... You set all this into motion... don't tell me you DON'T KNOW!
I will not take that crap from you... I've already lost too much." Toma's eyes were once more rimmed with tears. Bardock's eyes darkened at his friend's words.
"I am nothing but a pawn of destiny, just as you are... do you think I haven't lost anything? You were there! My mate was murdered along side yours... my oldest child was taken from me... and my new born babe was left with nothing but a broken man without the will to live on... don't talk about loss Toma... I know it well." He finished sitting back in his chair bearing Toma darkly.
"I know... I'm sorry, it's just hard to understand why you do the things you do... if you doubt... what's left for the rest of us?"
"Have you seen her?" Bardock's eyes returned to normal. Toma had to marvel at his ability to switch gears the way he did.
"No," he murmured softly knowing exactly who her was.
"Will you?"
"I-I don't know... she must hate me."
"She will come to understand."
"She'd better! Or I'll kick your ass." Toma laughed. " I better be the grandfather of the next heir to the throne or I will personally skin you and feed you to the crows!" he mused, he always told Bardock that was the only reason why he was helping this lost cause, to have royal blood in his family. But his friend knew better. Bardock only smirked knowingly.
"She will bear Vegeta's chosen heir... just as Kakarotto will rule us all."
