One: Revelations

Bolts of lightening decorated the sky and illuminated the battle-field like the sun brightened the day. Claps of thunder boomed overhead being the only noise beside her own heart pounding in her chest and her ragged breating as she fled to the scene where the battle had been staged.
She had only known of the fight abotu an hour ago when her mother had recieved a phone call from her brother explaining the situation. She had overheard her mother's conversation wither her Ojisan Trunks; since ironically she had inherited the impeccable saiyan hearing; she had left almost immediately with no word. It didn't matter that she was only ten years old, she wanted to help her father and wasn't going to let anyone tell her otherwise.
Droplets of water were beating down on her rendering hercompletey drenched by the time she stopped dead in her tracks. She paused; her head snapped to the side with ehr sapphire-blue gaze hidden beneath darkness (her eyes are closed) as she focused her other senses, picking up a very familar ki signature. Her eyes snapped open as she darted off in another direction towards her father's energy. For some reason it was dwindling in the balance and rather quickly at that. She was getting scared, her father's energy wasn't seeming to hold out for long. Fear welled up inside of her and she tried to hold back the tears for the right time. Although she hoped it wouldn't come down to it, that's what was happening.

When she came the spot where the ki was the strongest she halted and summed up her surroudnings. Standing in the middle of nowhere is where it seemed she was. The land hd been destroyed by massive forces of energy and war, and the lightening continued to rake the sky.
A loud familar voice called out. "Shadow! Get out of here! Please! Leave before you get hurt!"
She whirled around fast enough just to see her father and that one person she would never expect to see again . She screamed, "Papa NO!"
His opponent drove a powerful fist straight through into his chest, and pulled it back out, covered in blood. Saris fell to his knees instantly and braced himself; his hand tot he ground with the other covering the wound as though it were of some help.
She cried out to him in a state of shock over what just happened, "NO! PAPA! Get up Papa, please!"
He held his arm out to her, "Shadow! Stay back . . . let me finish this . . ." He glanced over his shoulder and held his orchid gaze to her for a moment before he spoke again, "Be good . . . you're a strong girl . . . I need you to live for me . . ."
She could feel the hot tears form behind her eyes but she held them back, she wouldn't let her father see her cry, she had only cried in front of him once, and he simply told her that she shouldn't waste her energy and save her tears fior when they were truly needed. He used to tell her she was so strong, not just physically but emotionally and mentaly as well. He called her Shadow a lot; his little shadow was exactly what she was to him she was nearly his exact image in so many ways.
Her father's attacker took one look at her and laughed. She took it upon herself to run to her father's side and stood before him attempting to block any further assaults. The dark figure that stood tall before her effortlessly shoved her aside.
"Your father told you to stay back, you should listen to him Kokoro. He was right." He stooped down and garbbed hold of Saris by the throat and pulled him up to look him in the eye. "It runs in the family I guess. He surely didn't feel the need to listen to me when I told him to stay away from Bra." With his free hand he sent a fatal blow tot he warrior's chest instantly killing him.
Kokoro leapt up and screamed, "PAPA! PAPA!" She couldn't suppress her tears any longer as the man before her took one long gaze at her grief-stricken face and his own expression softened slightly.
"Go ahead and cry. Let the tears go. Don't be afraid . . . I know your father would tell you this is a time when they were needed."
Almost as if it were a command, her big blue eyes welled up with the long held back tears and she let them flow in large heaving sobs. Her small frame was trembling with every one. After a few minutes she felt the need to relax, wiping her eyes she looked up to find her father's killer gone but the only trace was fresh black rose lying on her father's lifeless form. The young girl kneeled beside him and continued to sob as she tried to shake him as though he wee only asleep. "Papa! Papa! Please wake up Papa! PLEASE!"
she cast herself over him laying her head down crying into his chest. As she stayed like that the rose that lay there crossed her thoughts having never seen one such an odd color it creeped her out. She lifted her head up slowly, sniffling from the last few sobs not even noticing as her little hand grazed the over them moist stem of the morbid colored flower. She felt something unfamilar in her touch as she clutched it tighter the thorns cutting in to her soft skin letting trickles of blood flow freely, yet at the first sense of pain she tossed the flower aside and nursed her wounded hand. Tears broke through thier barrier again running down her hot cheeks in single droplets.
Forgetting the pain a moment she tried to shake her father awake. "Papa, no you can't go!" As she tried desperately to wake him she hadn't realized the odd pattern that the blood had created on her wrist, which had formed close to the shape of the rose itself. Just then a light as bright as the moon itself appeared to be shining from Saris' lifeless body, getting brighter and brighter until a brilliant blue essence arose from his chest and took over the young girl's form and seemed to become a part of her now. Instantly the trickles of blood har dried to leave behind a much more clear image of that rose from which the blood had been caused.
What happened next could not really be explained. She stood up and rose about a half foot in the air and a solid black aura surrounded her small body which for some unknown reason had begun to undergo a change. Her frame became bigger, more shapely and curvier. Her legs became longer and more slender, and her whole body conformed to fit that of a young woman. Her once tiny schol uniform was replaced by a short, tight fitting black skirt and a top that hugged her developed figure, of a matching color. She now wore black lace up-front boots that stopped just below her knees, and various streaks of a soft white color adorned her raven black hair.
The aura slowly faded and she set foot on solid ground once again. Deathly silent, she opened her eyes gradually to reveal that they too have changed. No longe their normal deep blue color but now a rich, eerie crimson purple shade exactly like her father's. Her whole apearence had changed, she looked ot be around eighteen almost nineteen years in age. What had just happened here, it was though her father's vry soul essence had become a part of her.
As she examined the batle ravaged field for any sign of her father's killer it a voice rang clear through her mind, remembering what her father had last said to her. "Shadow . . . be good . . . you have to live . . . for me . . . Kokoro. Kokoro! Kokoro_"

The raven-haired teen sat briskly upwards, and her deep saapphire gaze met the worried stares of her mother and uncle. Her face was flushed and soaked from the beads of sweat that adorned her warm to the touch skin. Her heart sounded like it was going to pound right out of her chest and her breaths were shallow, ragged and short.
Her mother heaved a sigh of relief and pulled her into a tight embrace, franticaly kissing the back of her head and forehead. "Oh Koro, I was so worried. What happened?"
Kokoro shook her head slowly and looked down at her hands gripping the sheets tightly. She began to think about what happened, she had that awful dream again. It had been haunting her thoughts for six years after it happened.
Things were beginning to get strange over the past few weeks, perhaps it was because it was drawing closer to the day of her father's death. Whatever it was both Bra and trunks hoped sh ewould be alright; Koro was a strong girl but to be consistently reminded of an event such as that would bring anyone to the brink of insanity.

Kokoro strolled through the hallsways of Orange Star High School with an ambition to just get through the day as soon as possible. Once it came time for the last class of the day, she spent most of her time staring up at the clock mounted on the classroom wall. /Ten more minutes ...only ten more minutes left to sit here and subject myself to boring lectures on how important it is to do the homework as part of maintaining a high grade./
Ironically her teacher just happened to be Son-Gohan, so she couldn't exactly get off with not doing anythign because she wasn't having a good day. As nice as he really was, he couldn't let her slide because he was friends with her family.
**ring**
Just then the bell signaling then end of class rang and she and the rest of the students sprang up from their seats and headed for the door, yet just as she was half-way she was stopped. "Hey Kokoro," She turned to see Son-Gohan holding up a pair of keys. "Your mother wanted me to tell you she wants you to go to Capsule Corp. after school but she'l be a bit late so here!" He tossed her the keys. She caught them and stashed them in her bag; "Thanks for the message. I'll give her your regards." She gave him a smile, with a nod in return and left out the door. Nearly flying down the halls out to the back parking lot, she made certain no one was around before she took to the air and headed towards towards he destination.
