Four: Confronting the past
She had no actual knowledge of how long she had just flown not knowing where she was going. All she knew was that if she was going to face her challenger, he would more than likely let her know where he was.
No less than a minute later, she picked up a noticeably high ki signature right below her. She halted and descended to the ground towards it. Once on solid ground again she was immediately confronted by a dark figure as they placed a powefrful hand on her shoulder. She nearly jumped as she whirled around, only to be face to face with Trunks.
Acting on impulse she snapped at him. "Don't do that!" She tried to catch her breath having been holding it unbeknowest to her.
He stumbled back himself at her outburst, but made an effort to calm her. "Woah! Take it easy, It's just me kid."
She settled down enough to speak on a normal tone but she was still shocked to see him here. "Ojisan, Trunks? W-what are you doing here?"
He gave her a meaningful glare. "I have the very same question for you. I followed you here after you ran out so quickly."
A little unsure of what to do, she blurted out without even thinking; "Leave! you shouldn't be here, please go." There was a pleading look in her endless blue eyes, eyes that mirrored his sister, her mother.
He arched a brow at her demand. "You're the one who doesn't belong here kid. Whatever you've got planned forget it . . . I know you're determined to set the record straight but this isn't the best way to go about it, come on let's go home and you and you're mother can discuss this."
His request was tempting to her, but something told her that she couldn't just turn around and leave now that she was here, that she had to do it her way. "I know . . . but its the only way." she turned her back on him and looked straight ahead only to be immediately locked in a stare down with exactly who she was looking for. " . . . " No further words could escape her throat, only silence as she felt his cold onyx stare upon her.
He was the first to break the silence. "Hello . . . Shadow." Shadow; the way he said that name was with a deep disrespect and lit a fire in the normally softspoken girl.
Kokoro hissed at him. "Don't you dare call me that!" He stepped forward, now merely an inch away from her.
"Why not? That's who you are . . . his shadow, although now you're more than just his shadow...you are him...and you'll fall just like he did." That last line was spoken with such a deep hatred and yet at the same time it seemed like he speaking right through her, to her father's spirit residing deep within her own self.
Kokoro backed away suddenly, only to stumble back and fall. He snickered and smirked seeing irony in this and his last statement. "Look at you. I just get here and already you're down. Didn't I tell you..." He extended his hand out to help her up, but like something her father would do in a situation like this she slapped the offerred hand away and stood on her own.
He continued, stalking closer in a menacing type of way. "When you took in your father's soul you took in everything about him, and all his faults and impurities as well!!"
Kokoro glared up at him, her cold blue stare flickered an oh too familar crimson purple color and her naturally gentle like features were set in a deep, harsh, scowl.
With a hint of sarcasm in his voice he chided her. "Aww, don't look at me like that...you know it's true!"
Trunks chose that moment to butt in. "Leave her alone! We were just leaving so I suggest you do the same." He had casually grasped her hand and turned around to leave just as her challenger tore her from Trunks grip and held fast to her arm.
His voice dropped to a dangerously low growl. "I'm not letting you leave here without a fight! I proposed a challenge and you shall not back down from it!"
She swiftly spun around and with her free hand threw a firece uppercut to his jaw, knocking him backwards to the ground, although as a result of his tight grip on her arm she fell along with him. The sound of her small frame hitting the concrete was heard before there was a long silence. Soft locks of ebony spilled all around hiding her face. Her small body was limp against the robust chest just barely beside her and the only movement was not that of her's...but the enemy.
The determined male lazily forced himself to rise from his place on the ground, staggering forward a few steps then stopping. He craned his neck around to catch a quick glimpse at the girl. Suddenly, as though he had expected it, he grinned at the sight of a faint light emitted from somewhere beneath her. That being part of the only permanent reminder of the night her father was betrayed and killed. At first it was a soft glow but which soon seemed to shine brighter and spread over her until her whole body had been surrounded by a, familiar, black aura.
Trunks looked on in paranoic curiousity. "Wha-what's happening to her?!" The other man simply kept his grin, he knew precisely what was going on.
He had seen it the first time and that was the whole reason he had staged this confrontation. He had hoped to get her to use this akward new power against him again. She stirred slightly right before she rose from her place on the ground and stood up straight, looking something like a doll rather than living, breathing girl. Her eyes were closed and her breathing was slow and even as though she were asleep standing. Within this aura the transformation began and her body was the first to change. In a way that made it seem like it was natural she gracefully raised her arms and her outfit faded leaving behind a pale blue slipdress. It was then her petite frame became curvier and more shapely; her legs became a bit longer, and more slender and once again leaving her to look like a grown woman.
The aura slowly lifted and she was revealed and the former attire seen the first time; a well fitted black top, a short matching skirt, and black lace-up-front boots stopping just below her knees. Her challenger was ecstatic while Trunks was in a state of shock. His eyes were wide with both amazement and yet worry over what had just happened, never before had he seen anything quite like this. Shadow had emerged once again and yet something didn't seem right. She opened her eyes and gazed directly at Trunks. He stood like a stone and studied the girl's new form. Her eyes were a creepy orchid color and filled with a fiery determination. This made him draw back, having only seen eyes like that on one person...and he was dead!
*a/n* hmm this chappie seemed a bit a bit short maybe i should start the next two now...well this was an interesting one now wasnt it? the next one is kinda sad...well sorta and youll see why*
