Disclaimer: I don’t own DBZ or the song from Linkin Park ‘Blackout’

A/N: I like to write song-fics as I think they describe a feeling better than ordinary sentences can. I just love teaming Linkin Park up with DBZ too.

I hope you enjoy.

Blackout

Piccolo had fought with idea for a long time now. Once he use to think of it as a hostile takeover, knowing full well it could never happen without the others consent he had pushed it into the too-hard basket in the back of his mind.

But ever since that battle with Radditz, the moment he had killed Goku and had not felt the glee and joy he thought he would. He knew then as he knew now that it must be a union made in eternity, to be together again as one for ever.

I'm stuck in this bed you made
Alone with a sinking feeling

He never once made any comment about his life, and the way it had started. For he had no choice in the matter, so he saw no point in arguing with it.

He blamed one for his plight and he would blame him for eternity. The feeling he had deep inside, the torment, the pain and the anguish was his to carry but it was another’s doing.

I saw through the words you said
To the secrets you've been keeping

Oh how that traitor pretended to be so righteous, so good and so pure. What absolute lies. It disgusted him how they all just took his words for gospel! How he had never once been able to prove himself, would always be labeled the villain. So that was what he became, with nothing else to give the world he decided to take it instead.

That would show them all how perfect he was, something so pure could never have had something so evil inside. He knew what dwelled deep within Kami, he had it inside too. Somewhere deep, deep within where even the guardians could not look was a shameful existence that both of them carried.

That both of the Namekians fought with daily.

It's written upon your face
All the lies how they cut so deeply

At least he could openly deal with the shame. Kami had no choice but to hide it. Piccolo saw it on the old creatures face every time he looked at the ugly old Namekian. How it killed him to not have dispelled it all, to have failed his most sacred quest.

You can't get enough you take And take and take and never say

No, you've gotta get it inside
You push it back down, you push it back down

No, you'll never get it inside
Push it back down, blackout, blood in your eye

But now to think this was his only option, what a disgusting thing it was. For so long he had try to deny it, to deny he had to become one again with Kami. He willed with all his might that he be spared this one nightmare.

He no longer dreamt of the power it could bring him. He could care less. But now he had to think of Gohan, he had woken up one day and he had cared for another being other than himself. It was a strange feeling love, one he had not anticipated but welcomed once it filled him with warmth. No he needed the power, to protect those he loved.

Piccolo landed at the lookout, Kami was waiting for him at the edge along with Mr. Popo.

You say that it's not your fault
And swear that I am mistaken

That disgusting face made him want to blast it into oblivion.

But he knew he had no choice. The older Namekian had declined to merge straight away, saying he wanted to see how things progressed on earth with the new evil Cell. He was waiting to see how things went? He should be fucking ecstatic to be merging with such a young, strong healthy body.

The dumb old fool.

Piccolo had almost used it as a chance to back out, but memories of Gohan came flooding back, even thoughts of Goku gasping for air as his heart started to kill him slowly made his resolve return.

They all had no idea what a condescending, arrogant piece of shit Kami was. Piccolo hated him more than anything.

You said it's not what it seems
No remorse for the trust you're breaking
You run but then back you fall
Suffocate in the mess you're making

It was time to merge once more, Kami had told Mr. Popo not to worry, that most of the evil that once consumed Piccolo had now left his being. How right he was, he saw now the mistake he had made by the selfish act he made so many years ago.

The arrogant old fuck. By expelling his father from himself, Kami had electively sealed Piccolo’s fate. But now Piccolo had made his own way, had become more than Kami could ever hope for. He expelled his hate and evil through the love of others. While Kami took the easy way out, and now he too saw it for what it was.

A mistake.

You can't get enough you take
And take and take and take and take
Fuck it, are you listening?

That fool Mr. Popo was crying now. If he had only knew what Kami had just started to realize in his last few minutes. I kept quiet, knowing my fate was to end up completely the opposite of this fool. I was to be something Kami could never be.

And so the fuse began.

No, you've gotta get it inside
You push it back down, you push it back down
No, you'll never get it inside
Push it back down, you push it back down

No, you've gotta get it inside
You push it back down, you push it back down
No, you'll never get it inside
Push it back down, blackout, blood in your eye

Accepting Kami into his being was one of the hardest battles Piccolo had ever faced. He had to keep reminding himself of his friends, of the power he could lend them to fight this new evil.

Kami started to invade his thoughts. Feelings of regret and disappointment flooded his mind. Piccolo felt a twinge of regret himself. It seemed the old man was truly sorry for the pain he had caused. Kami had been young once himself and had made a mistake. But he was glad he made the mistake, because it meant Piccolo would rise from the ashes to protect the world better than Kami could ever have dreamt. It meant Piccolo had existed at all.

So many emotions were erupting deep inside Piccolo as he became one again with Kami. Feelings he didn’t expect to ever feel.

Floating down as colors fill the light
We look up from the ground in fields of paperwhite

He had only ever seen it from one point of view, to truly see it as another did was an amazing feeling. One he couldn’t absorb straight away.

He had always just hated Kami, pure hatred fueled him from the moment of birth. And with it came a narrow view of the world, which he was now just starting to see in different colours.

How arrogant he had been.

And floating up, you pass us in the night
A future gazing out, a past to overwrite

And as they became one, the Namek now had but one goal. To save the universe of this new threat. To become something other than Piccolo or Kami. To be the one they were meant to be in the beginning, before all of this.

So come down far below
We've been waiting to collect the things you know

It seems like the gods smiled on this day. The day the Namekian warrior lead out to save the earth they both so desperately loved and adored. Together with their new knowledge of each other and the fate they had been tied to all these years made the path seem clear.

Come down far below
We've been waiting to collect what you've let go

Saying goodbye to all the hate, the hurt and the pain they became centred together.

Finally at peace with one another they could now turn their attention to the new challenge ahead. Finally they would meet it together as they were always destined to.

Come down, oh
Come down, oh
Come down, oh
Come down, oh
Come down, oh
