Dragon Ball/Z/GT Fan Fiction ❯ Bonded by Pain and Blood ❯ Oh Kami! ( Chapter 5 )

Bulma sat in the kitchen with her mother. It's been a week since Vegeta's little episode and he refuses to speak of it. Bulma looked down at her cold coffee cup. She had been nursing it for an hour as her mother dithered away about a new sale going on at the mall. Bulma wished sometimes she could be like her mother, to be so lost in her own little world that other people's problems didn't exist.
"Sweetums?"
"Huh?" Bulma blurted out, her reverie being broken.
"Darling I've asked you three times now. How is Vegeta doing?"
"Oh, sorry. I'm just a little tired. I don't know how he's doing. He's been avoiding me like the plague since that day he collapsed. Funny. Ever since I've known Vegeta, I always imagined him to be this stone cold impenetrable fortrace that nothing could effect. It never occurred to me that he could have this Post Traumatic Stress Disorder."
"Well dear, I guess he's just as susceptible to stuff like that as we are. I've heard story's of war veterans with it and they just never seem to get over it." Mrs. Briefs said with that damn cheery voice she always had, even under the worst of circumstances. A guy could put a gun to her head, and she would end up inviting him for milk and cookies.
"Thanks mother. You're a real help." Bulma said sarcastically
"What did that psychiatrist say by the way?"
"He can't say. Vegeta broke his jaw after some questions on his childhood. Now I got a court case to settle `cuz now he's sueing us."
"Gee, that's too bad." The blonde said while still looking happy. "Have you thought of talking to Son-kun about it?"
Bulma tried her best to stifle a yawn. All the stress of the recent incidents were taking it's told on her. She spent her nights up in her office surfing the net finding info on PTSD.
"Yes I have, but Vegeta would kill us all if he knew we were talking about him."
"You know Bulma, you should really get some beauty rest. It's not good for the complexion."
"I know. But first I'm going to Goku's now. Maybe he has some insight on Vegeta's past. I know before Vegeta died on Namek, he and Goku did some sort of mind link that Saiyans have with each other." With that, Bulma reached for her jacket and case of capsules, one of them containing an air ship.
"Ok, but when you get there, tell ChiChi to stop by for a game of chess. It's always fun to play chess with her."
"Yea sure mom." And she was out the door.

ChiChi was in one of her moods again. Not only did she specifically tell Gohan that he couldn't go out training with that big green Namekian monster Piccolo, but also her husband Goku encouraged it! ChiChi was furiously polishing away at her frying pan, when she heard the loud roar of engines in her front yard. Still grasping the pan, she marched out onto the lawn to chew out the bastard that decided to land on her neat and tidy lawn, when she saw Bulma climb out of an air ship.
"Oh, good!" She thought, "Someone who will take my side against that pointy eared beast."
ChiChi was about to greet Bulma with her complaints when Bulma was faster to speak.
"Where's Goku-san" she asked
"How should I know! He and that evil monster took my Gohan to do Kami knows what with out so much as a by your leave!"
Bulma covered her eyes in frustration. When ChiChi was mad, she wasn't much of help to anyone.
"Never mind! I'll just follow the path of uprooted trees and earthshaking ki blasts." Bulma turned on her heel leaving a flabbergasted ChiChi behind her, and took off in her air ship in pursuit of the destructive trio.
"The nerve of some people! Didn't even ask how I was doing! I swear!" ChiChi said as she stomped back into the Son household ready to polish her pan some more.

Bulma was right. All you have to do to find two Saiyans and a Namekian is to follow the path of uprooted trees. About 50-mile long path ended in one giant crater in the earth with three specks hovering over it.
"Kami! If those androids don't destroy the earth, they will!"
The fighters stopped long enough to watch Bulma land in the middle of the crater. Gohan started waving frantically to Bulma as she got out of the air ship.
"Hey Bulma! What brings you here? How's Mr. Vegeta doin?"
"Better, Gohan. Goku, I really need to talk to you."
"Sure, Bulma, anything. So wha'd ya wanna talk about?
"Not here Goku. In private." Goku gave her a knowing look
"I see. Gohan, you and Piccolo keep training while I have a talk with Bulma, `k?"
"No really?" Piccolo said with a sneer "I thought we'd twiddle our thumbs while you waste our time chatting."
"Why would you wanna do that?" Goku asked sincerely. Sometimes, Goku can be a real bonehead.
Gohan rolled his eyes "It's OK dad, well continue training. You and Bulma go do you thing."
Goku placed a hand on Bulma's shoulder and two fingers on his forehead, and teleported them back to the Son house.
Immediately as they both appeared on the front lawn, ChiChi came running out the front door, brandishing the frying pan with Goku's name on it.
"I TOLD YOU THAT GOHAN NEEDS TO STUDY TODAY!! NOT PLAY WARRIOR WITH YOU AND THAT EVIL FREAK!" She screamed as she took a swipe at Goku's head. Goku being the Saiyan that he is easily ducked it, pulling Bulma along with him.
"I'm sorry Chi, I just thought that he needed a break for a while. You had him shut up in his room with those books on algae-bra and stuff (that I can't make head or tails of) for days now, and I thought that his study skills would…uh…improve if I had…uh… him…uh…use his skills out in the battle field…yea that's right!" he said with his hand on the back of his head.
ChiChi slowly lowered the frying pan, eyeing her husband suspiciously. "Is that so Goku? Well what has he learned?"
Goku started giggling nervously. "He he he. Well…uh…let's see…um…you can ask him when he gets back. I got some important business to discuss with Bulma. Gotta go." Goku spoke as fast as he could while running into the house with a bewildered Bulma in tow.
"Whew!" Goku heaved, wiping sweat from his forehead. "Glad that's over with. What's on your mind Bulma?"
Bulma sat down at the kitchen table, "Well, its about Vegeta, of course. The doctor said he has Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and anything that reminds him of his past could set him off, and I really want to help him, but I don't know anything about him." Bulma rambled, "I know something happened between you two on Namek before he died, so if you could tell me everything you know about him, I would appreciate it."
Goku scratched his chin for a moment. "Hmm…does Vegeta know that you're here? I don't think it's right to go talking about him behind his back."
"I know me too, but I can't get a word out of him and the last person who did that got his jaw broken!"
"He did what!" Goku shouted
"Never mind. The point is that I'm going to help Vegeta whether he likes it or not!" She replied while crossing her arms in a Vegeta-like fashion.
"Oh. So how long have you felt this way about him?" Goku asked
"About who?"
"Vegeta! How long have you cared for him?"
Bulma uncrossed her arms looking astonished. "Vegeta! I don't, thank you very much! Why does everyone think that I'm falling head over heels for Vegeta just because I'm trying to help him? I'm just trying to get back to my old life without Mr. Broody Pants going into a fit just because he has a traumatic childhood. I'M…IN… LOVE…WITH… YAMCHA!!"
"Right Bulma. Anyway, I'll tell you only what you need to know about Vegeta to help him out with his problems. But I'm warning you, it's not pretty."
Two and a half hours later, a very sick and shocked looking Bulma emerged from the Son house. She leaned against the side of the house clutching her stomach. Tears were streaming from her blue eyes as her breathing turned into hiccuping sobs. Kami, the things that that monster Frieza did to him, and made him do. Goku must have gone temporarily insane after receiving Vegeta's memories. It was all indescribable. Being that sick lizards plaything for most of his childhood, then growing up only to do those awful things to people. Goku didn't even describe the worst of it to Bulma. She had to get out of the house before she became sick on the kitchen table. Bulma heard the front door open and shut followed by heavy Saiyan footsteps coming towards her. She looked up and saw Goku standing in front of her with a look of sympathy on his face.
"Are you alright?" He asked
She sobbed again and wiped her nose with the back of her hand. "Damn it Goku! How could you stand it after you saw his memories! You actually saw what he saw! How could you go on knowing those kind of things?!"
"I won't lie to you Bulma, I was very disturbed after that experience. But imagine how Vegeta could stand it after living with Frieza for over 20 years. That's why he's the bastard we all know now. It's a defense he uses to stay alive, from going insane. Now all the emotions he's kept up within himself are trying to break free. He'll never forgive himself for what has happened in his past."
"Do you forgive him Goku?" she asked
"Yes. I tried to show him that, but he just threw it back in my face. It seems that he won't let others forgive him either."
Bulma opened her mouth to say something, when her cell phone rang. The noise startled Bulma and she reached into her pocket for it.
"Hello? Hi Yamcha…No nothing's wrong…sure…I'll be right over. Bye." She hung up. "Goku, I have to go. Yamcha wants me to come over for a bit. He want's to talk about something."
"Ok. I hope for yours and Vegeta's sakes that this whole thing works out." (Not to mention the boy from the future's sake as well)
"Ok. Maybe a chat with Yamcha will make me feel better. Bye Goku, you're a real friend." She said. They exchanged hugs. Bulma jumped into her air ship and took off.
"I wonder what Yamcha needs to talk to Bulma about?" Goku asked himself
