CHIANA - NEWLY ORPHANED
“I love you Chiana and I always have and I don't think I'll ever stop.” My friend in my life Trunks Briefs saying the three most wonderful words in history to me: close to my wedding day. After all this time, he couldn't tell me before!
I shout and scream at him to leave and he walks out my room, with one last glimpse at me with an expression of regret, that he should have never said that to me. I lie down on my bed and try to figure out what just happened and what is going to happen. By the way, my name is Chiana and I haven't had a totally happy life. It started out rough, but got better as I was: how you say, swept to my destiny by the current or wind as I don't live by the sea.

I used to live in a run-down flat with my parents. I never went to school as it was too dangerous to go through the place and we were poor, so we couldn't afford all the essentials that the school required me to have. But then when I was only 7, my life changed.
“Mama, Papa!” I shouted happily while running up the stairs leading to our flat, my day so far was great, I had made a friend over in the building next door and couldn't wait to tell me parents. However when I arrived there were police and forensics people there with bright yellow tape blocking the door into where I lived. I could feel my swelling with water and it didn't take long before they were trickling down my cheeks, chin and finally splashing on the floor.
“I'm sorry but you can't be here.” A police man told me but soon realised who I was, you see there's a picture of me and my parents laughing and being merry on Christmas day, once the police man looked at me more closely, he brought me to the side and told me what had happened. And what I heard, I will never get over, not even now. I immediately run down the stairs and out the building, my face like a waterfall but was stopped by a tall man, in quite a weird costume if I did say so myself.
This man in front of me was wearing a green costume and red cape. Also he wore a head piece, black sunglasses and a tight black piece under the green outer clothing. He looked kinda goofy looking and I didn't think he knew, nut I was laughing at his appearance, he just smiled back at me.
“I'm sorry to hear about your parents. We will find who did this, just me.” He gave me wink for trust and I believed him. I guess I had to; I didn't have much choice in the matter. But when he started to say the next thing, I got scared. “You will have to move to another of your family or you'll be put into care or even an orphanage.” The goofy looking man now looked sincere and smiled, to make me smile I suppose but It didn't work, at least not how I remember.
Oh yes, I didn't tell you what really happened to my parents, but my guess is that you have already guessed. Yes, they were murdered, for reasons I don't even know. Maybe they were hiding something from me or because of the neighbourhood I lived in was just far too dangerous, even in your own home.
Soon afterwards I was taken to an orphanage, St Mary's I think it was called, I wouldn't have known, I didn't care and I didn't stay long. I was so lonely and wanted out so that same night my mind just told me to take some food, a blanket and pillow, the picture of me and my parents, and what little money I brung with me to the orphanage and run. Out the window into the cold night, I knew I was mad, running away I mean I was 7 but I didn't feel right it that place. I'm glad I did run, not at first mind you though, but things can change.
I remember that night I reached the park in North city and slept on a bench, until the morning came and I heard sweet tweeting from the chirpy birds above me, I prayed they wouldn't need the loo and decided to go whatever was directly below them, i.e. me!
I gathered up my things and sat on the bench for god knows how long, until I thought a walk will do me good and if the people from the orphanage was looking for me, it was a good idea to keep moving so as I didn't get caught. I walked a fair bit, the park is big you know and I saw an ice cream shop so I ran up to it, pulled out my money from the pocket of my jeans, hopping to find enough to buy an ice cream, but alas, I didn't have enough.
That is until I saw a group of three boys, tall one and two smaller boys. The tall guy was, to my opinion, seventeen or eighteen and the kids around my age. They looked happy and the guy was obviously treating them as they went into the ice cream store, passing me on the way in. One of the smaller boys looked quite like the older, taller one. And the other had kinda purple hair and bright blue eyes but also looked like someone who likes practical jokes and got into trouble a lot. I don't really know how I got that feeling from him, but I think I was right. They sat down at a nearby table and started to devour their ice cream, with the purple haired boy literally shoving the whole thing into his mouth.
I finally snapped back to reality and got up courage to see if the man at the till would spare me the few zeni that I didn't have to get just one scoop of ice cream. I pushed the door open and walked casually to the counter. I decided to play it cool and act like I didn't know I didn't have enough. I thought it would work, but it didn't.
