Confrontations

Goku could smell the food from outside. His nose was up there air Gohan and Goten stopped to smell also. It was nearly five thirty and they were starving. They couldn't wait to eat but there was one thing they didn't know. They were having company.

"Is dinner ready, Chi?" asked Goku as he came inside.

"Soon Goku," she said while stirring the hot pot. "Why won't you boys take a shower while I'm finishing. We'll be having a guest for dinner."

"A guest?" he said surprisingly. "Who?"

"An old friend from fifth grade," she said.

"Can't....wait...to meet him," he said as he took off his clothes.

Gohan and Goten walked in sweaty and hungry. "Can we eat now?" begged Goten.

"Not until you take a shower young man," she scolded. "Go on now shooo." She gestured them to go .

They all went out to the lake as she finished her cooking.

Not long after there was a knock on the door. ChiChi walked to the door and opened it. "Hello Tony," she said happily. "Come in, come in."

Tony walked inside and looked around. "My, your house is immaculate," he said.

"When you're living with two kids and your husband you have to keep everything nice and tidy," she said. "Please, sit down."

She showed him to the living room and and offered a cup of tea. "No thank you," he said.

"They should be here by now so you can just wait right here," she said. She went back to the kitchen and made some final preperations.

Tony looked around at the picture frames. There was one with ChiChi, Goku, and a little boy about five years old in a stroller. They looked so happy in the picture. Another picture was off the same people only the little boy was older now, about eleven years old. Here they were at the park enjoying a family picnic. Then there was one picture that caught his eye the most. It was ChiChi, the boy who was now a young man, and another boy who looked like the man from the other pictures. But there was something missing. It was the man. He wasn't in any of the recent pictures.

Suddenly Goku and the boys came inside. "Let's eat!" said Goku as he held his stomach.

"Oh, Goku," said ChiChi. "I'd like to meet my friend." She grabbed Goku by the arm and steered him to the living room. "Goku this is Tony. Tony this is my husband Goku."

Tony stood up and smiled weakly. "Hi there," he said.

"Please to meet ya," said Goku as he stuck out his hand.

Tony shook his hand and looked at him carefully. 'That must be the man in the pictures,' he thought. 'But why isn't he in the recent ones?'

Just then Gohan and Goten show up. They were running towards ChiChi and stopped when they saw the strange man in their living room.

"This is my older son Gohan," introduced ChiChi. "And my youngest son Goten."

"Hello," they both said. They looked at each other and gave weird expressions.

'The oldest one must be the little boy from the first picture and the youngest must be the little one without the father in it,' thought Tony. "Hello there," he finally said.

They all went outside to the table.

"Dinner's ready," announced ChiChi.

Everyone was sitting at the table with the forks and knives in their hands, except for Tony, who was patient.

"Mmmmmm," said Goku as he sniffed the air. "That smells delicious." His mouth was starting to water.

"Let's eat! Let's eat! Let's eat!" Goten said exitingly.

"Mind your manners Goten," warned ChiChi. She placed an exaggerated bowl full of spaghetti, two bowls of garlic bread, three bowls of salad, three bowls full of meatballs, four small baked chickens, and three pitchers of juice. She sat down and placed a napkin on her lap.

"Let's dig in!" said Goku. He grabbed a plate and started.

As Tony ate he couldn't believe how much the three guys could eat. He watched in surprisement as Goku ate his sixth helping.

"I told you they could a lot," whispered ChiChi to Tony. "I'm use to it."

He smiled and finished his meal.

'So....Tony," said Goku with a mouth full of food. "What do you do for a living?"

"Don't talk with your mouth full of food," said ChiChi.

Goku made his last chews and swallowed his food. he grabbed a cup of juice and gulped it down.

"I work as an archealogist said Tony.

"Sounds interesting," said Gohan.

"Well it is Gohan," he said. "You get to travel around the world and meet different people. And you discover fascinating things."

"I bet you get to discover dinosaur bones and stuff," said Goten.

"Yes I do," replied Tony.

Goku glanced at Tony and realized something about him that he didn't like. He was looking at ChiChi an awfull lot and he was getting irritated. 'Why is he looking at ChiChi so much?' he thought. 'And why was he always making her laugh?'

ChiChi looked at Goku and saw how uneasy he was about Tony. She cleared her throat and and stood up from the table. "Well," she said. "I think everyone's done so I'll take these dishes and wash them."

"Let me help you ChiChi," suggested Tony.

ChiChi smirked at him and then looked at Goku who was staring at him. They both went inside and she put the dishes in the sink. She started on them while Tony dried them off.

"Are you happy ChiChi?" he asked her quietly.

"What?" she said, surprised by his question.

"Are you happy with Goku?"

"Of course I am," she said. "Why wouldn't I be?"

"I'm not sure but you seem....." he paused before he continued.

She turned off the faucet and looked at him. "I seem what?" she said annoingly.

"Well, miserable," he finally said.

ChiChi widened her eyes. How did he know all of this? Maybe he spotted her exppressions at the table when she tried so hard to hide them. "It's none of your damn business," she snapped.

He placed his hand on her shoulder and looked into her eyes. "Tell me what's wrong ChiChi," he said softly.

She looked at him and walked to the living room. She sat down and sighed deeply. All these she thought no one would of noticed but Tony did and he was just trying to be helpfull. "I'm sorry," she said. "I'm just not myself lately."

He sat next to her and tucked some of her behind her ear. "What happened between you and Goku?" he asked.

She lowered her head and stared at the floor. She's never told anyone about her inner problems. She looked at Tony and something in his exppression made her open a new assumption. 'Is Tony in love with me?' she thought to herself. 'It' can't be. Can it?'

"ChiChi?" he said as he knocked her out of her thoughts. "I want to tell you something."

'What is it?" she said nervously. 'Oh God...'

"I love you.," he finally said.

"What?!" she cried.

"I've always loved you ChiChi," he said while taking her hand. "Since the day I saw you in your little pink lunchbox I've had feelings for you. I just dind't have the guts to tell you. I was too afraid of what you might say. Now I'm glad I told you this because I know you feel the same way too."

She slid her hand away from his. "Tony i-" She was interrupted by some footsteps coming inside the house.

"ChiChi?" It was Goku and he was pretty upset. "What are you doing in here?"

She stood up immideatly followed by Tony. "Uh, I was just talking to Tony," she said. She walked up to him and smiled. "What are you up to?"

"Just playing with the boys," he said, his glare adjusted to Tony.

"Well..." Tony said while walking towards them. "I'd better be going home now. It was nice meeting Goku." He let out his hand to Goku. He winced at Goku's strong grp and rubbed his hand after he let go. He hugged ChiChi right after. "We'll talk soon," he whispered in her ear. He walked out the door followed by ChiChi and Goku.

"Bye Tony," said Goten.

He got in his car and waved at the family. Everyone waved back excpet for Goku.
