Dragon Ball/Z/GT Fan Fiction ❯ Chrono Leap ❯ Prologue ( Chapter 1 )

A/N:

Hey people! I was just flicking through my fics recently, checking spelling and stuff, when I came upon two great big messes. Two great big messes known as Dangerous Bond and Chrono Leap, the DBZ fics I wrote before I had a spell checker. Well, I do now, so I'm doing a new EDITED version of Chrono Leap. Plans are for some more information on Karina, although I assure all that the spotlight is still entirely on B and V. Enjoy!

Prologue I

The snow wasn't as cold as it needed to be, splashed up the sides of the ship a tall man had just stepped out from. It was slushy and turning a bit grey, sloshing around the Saiya-jin and his crew's feet as they made their way over to the steaming wreckage that had once been a vessel of some sort. They'd stopped when it came up on Akumara's sensors and landed on the planet's surface. Why not? It might have been trashed, but this was a Saiya-jin ship. The last Saiya-jin would be insane to ignore something like this!

Lady Sarisa walked up in front and reached the great wreck first, laying her porcelain hands on the smooth metal near the hatch and gazing up in awe.

It was a standard size battle cruiser, the type King Vegeta used to have in his miniscule fleet, made of black metal that glinted silver in the cold star of this planet. The two forward facing gun shafts were both rent and torn from the crash, as crumpled as the great metal nose. Its sleek engine pods were fine though - according to Akumara they were in better condition than his own back on their ship! It was saying a lot, when the scientist's ego was taken in hand. He was a generally nice man, but he didn't half go on sometimes.

"Do you think it's worth entering?" Sarisa wondered, turning back to her lord.

She was a lithe creature, with silky black hair that curled down to her shoulders and expressive amber eyes the shape of almonds. Her hands were deceptively delicate looking, but she hadn't won her rank from beauty alone…

Ramen nodded in reply to her request, "Who knows, there may be survivors."

"Here, I'll open it, my lady." Akumara suggested, "We wouldn't want to blast it down if there was someone on the other side…"

Sarisa gave him a tiny smile and stepped back to let the Saiya-jin scientist do his work. With a small metal box that blinked green light out its sides, he quickly picked the lock and slid open the heavy hatch like it was made of feathers.

Together seven Saiya-jin entered the ship, spreading off through the hull and decks in search of anything. The lesser warriors left the bridge to their leader, Lord Ramen, knowing that he would want to check that himself. His hard boot heels clicking across the surprisingly clean deck the large Saiya-jin stopped to gaze out the view screen at the dark dirt the ship had dug itself into. He stepped forward, about to check the data files, when a ki, just the faintest flicker of one, caught his attention.

Raising both his eyebrow and his ki Ramen moved almost silently in the general direction of what he felt… And couldn't help but let his eyes widen in surprise. There, slightly hidden in the shadowy darkness of the wrecked ship, lay a small baby. It had black hair and a tiny tail that was wrapped securely around the supporting shaft of one of the consoles. Unlike a human its hair was already long and flowing, spread out around the child's body like a feathery fan.

Ramen watched the child for a second, then reached down and scooped it up. You couldn't just leave another member of your dwindling species to die. Removing his cape the Saiya-jin leader wrapped it around the baby for warmth, deciding that, if there were no other survivors, he would take the child in as his own.

"Hey, Karina!" Sarisa complained, swatting the three yr-old away from her long silky tail.

The girl giggled, her sapphire blue eyes shining as she undid the bow she'd tied around her supervisor's tail. She didn't normally have someone as nice as Sarisa looking after her and the young Saiya-jin was determined to make the best of it… Even if it did mean driving the pretty lady around the bend.

"If Lord Ramen caught you doing this…" The older Saiya-jin often tisked.

She was right, of course. Ramen's heir wasn't meant to mess about like this. But Sarisa never tipped him off on his beloved child's behaviour like Akumara would, so Karina wasn't all that bothered. She could do whatever she wanted…

"Sarisa." A familiar voice greeted in sync with the landing of a pair of blue tipped black boots.

"Hmm?" Sarisa looked up at their visitor, her amber eyes catching the sun and shining brilliantly.

Karina looked up from where she was playing with a large worm-like creature on the strange dank soil of this planet to the sight of the group's scientist and her current guardian.

She smiled, Akumara wasn't blatantly nice like Sarisa and some of the others, but he was sorta fun to be around. Sitting up the young Saiya-jin cocked her head to the side in an attempt to hear what they were saying. To her surprise and frustration, the pair were speaking in tones too low for her to hear. Dang, people should have more respect. Oh well, at least she could watch…

And watch she did; as Sarisa's expression slowly got darker and darker and Akumara's stance became more and more offensive.

"That's an order!" The black haired girl heard Akumara hiss, just before he turned on his heel and headed over to her.

"Akumara!" Sarisa was on her feet now, "Tell me EXACTLY where you are taking her! Either that or," She appeared between the buff scientist and her charge, "You'll have to get through me."

Akumara's mahogany tail swished in a mixture of impatience and the adrenaline that rushed through his veins at the thought of battle. She didn't know, but he did. Ramen's strongest underling was about to get a change in rank. Not that she needed to know yet, but she would in a few years time. For now she could have… a taster.
