"Trunksie!" exclaimed young Pan as she rushed across the lounge of Capsule Corporation, instantly becoming the center of attention. Trunks sat up from where he rested, watching the television, to catch the young child in his arms with a laugh. The youngest Son giggled as she wrapped her arms around the teenager's neck with a bright Son grin. "Hiya, Pan-chan," Trunks laughed, sitting aside the remote as he perched the girl atop his knee.
Vejita sat in a large chair, one leg thrown carelessly over the arm. A large book rested in his hands, but at the familiar ki of a Son, his reading had halted with pure rage. "Trunks, take the child up to play with Bura," Vejita demanded in a tone that couldn't be argued with. Trunks gazed at Vejita with confusion for a brief moment before nodding and scooping the girl into his arms. "Hai, Tousan," he muttered quietly before turning and leaving the room.
"So, you're here why?" Vejita demanded with a feral growl, grabbing the book and slamming it closed. He heard Gokou's footsteps as the younger Saiyajin entered the room and sat down on the coffee table across from the prince. Vejita raised an annoyed brow. "I can't help but think it."
"Think what, Vejita?" Gokou questioned softly.
"You were… programmed - for lack of a better word - to destroy Chikyuu. As a child, according to Bulma, you taunted the Red Ribbon Army. As a teen, you teased Piccolo and all those other weakling friends of yours. And within these last twenty years…" he sighed and shook his head. "You played with Raditzu and actually was willing to give him another chance. You annoyed Frieza and allowed him to survive, only to return and be destroyed by my Mirai son. You taunted Cell and allowed him to nearly destroyed this planet at least five times, broken your son's arm, and killed yourself. Finally you succeeded in your mission by allowing Chikyuu to be destroyed by Buu. I would think you've finally have some closure."
Gokou shook his head, growing angrier with each word that came from Vejita's lips.
"I threatened to destroy this damn mud ball if you annoyed me with your presence and here you are!" Vejita leaned forward, black eyes wide and taunting. "What's to stop me, Kakarrotto? I stand up, grab Trunks, walk out that door… and boom." A grin appeared on the face of the Saiyajin no Ouji. "You've been quite trusting of me, Kakarrotto… or perhaps I am wrong. Perhaps you've wanted your prince to complete your mission for you. Tell me. Have you silently been striving to destroy this planet?"
"You know none of that is true!" Gokou exclaimed, rising to his feet. Vejita mimicked the Saiyajin's movements with a growl. "I have little reason to remain here!" he snarled. "Trunks is my mate! You are nothing but an annoyance!"
Gokou found himself silent as he looked down at Vejita. "Just an annoyance," he repeated quietly with a faint nod of his head. Gokou looked away with a sigh. "I came here to apologize, Vejita, but I see I don't need to. You've chosen Trunks over me. I understand. I'll leave."
Vejita watched as Gokou headed towards the door, but with a glare he called after the Saiyajin. Gokou froze at his Saiyajin name, glancing over his shoulder just barely. "I don't want you apologies," Vejita stated.
"Then what do you want, Vejita?" Gokou begged, turning to face the prince. Vejita stared at him blankly for a moment. Didn't he know? Didn't Gokou understand?
"Vejita, I don't get it! What happened with Buu was so long ago! I thought it was all in the past!" Gokou paused with a faint sigh. "Since the fusion, I feel you inside my head. It grew stronger with our mating… almost overwhelmingly stronger… but I can't understand." He shook his head and stepped towards Vejita, but the Saiyajin no Ouji jerked back with a glare. Gokou nodded. "You saved my life, Vejita. Inside of Buu… you saved my life… more than once. You saved Gohan's life endless times… and you even helped save Chikyuu. I don't know why you hate me, Vejita, but I love you."
"Everyone meets their better sooner or later," Vejita snarled, stepping forward and grabbing Gokou by the shoulder, shoving him against the wall. "Don't you see, Kakarrotto…"
"No! I don't!" Gokou shouted back, shoving Vejita away. "I see that you've thought way too much about that stupid thing. I want to know right now what the fuck you want from me! You have my heart! You've taken my body!"
"I want to be your better!" Vejita shouted as his ki exploded, white power circling his body. Paintings fell from the wall as a fragile lamp was knocked to the floor, crashing in endless pieces. Gokou watched for a long moment, patiently waiting as the ki slowly faded away. Somberly, he sighed with a nod. "I just want to be your equal."
The ki vanished. Vejita watched in silence as Gokou turned and left the lounge.

"Dad?" Trunks called out as he stepped into Bura's bedroom. He paused as he saw Vejita leaning over the bed, whispering soft words to his newest daughter. Trunks paused, smiling softly as he saw the sweet scene. He had been ecstatic when he'd learned Bulma was pregnant with his newest little sister, and he'd even been shocked when Vejita had asked him if he was okay with it. Vejita had been worried that Trunks would feel betrayed by Vejita sleeping with Bulma, but the very opposite had been true.
Little Briefs Bura… she was so adorable. She had Bulma's beauty and Vejita's short temper and quick wits… and she was just barely a year old now. Trunks leaned against the door with a smile as Vejita turned to him with a raised brow of annoyance. Trunks grinned. Vejita hated being caught in these little moments. "Dad," he nodded with a faint chuckle. Vejita growled softly and rose to his feet, moving away from the now slumbering infant. Grabbing Trunks' arm, he hauled the teenager outside and shut the door softly behind the two. "Where's Bulma?"
"She asked me to tell you that she'd be gone for a couple days. Some meeting somewhere for the company." He watched Vejita nod with a sigh. Trunks frowned softly. "Dad, what's going on with Gokou?"
"What?" Vejita questioned, but both of them knew that Trunks was far from naïve. "Dad, I'm serious. Why are you and Gokou fighting? I sensed it a few days ago… but today with Pan…"
"It's not important," Vejita muttered, turning to leave. Trunks grabbed his arm - a very daring move for the young demi-Saiyajin - and jerked Vejita back. Even the Saiyajin no Ouji was caught off guard by this rare determination in Trunks. "No!" Trunks exclaimed. "Dad, I love you, and I love Gokou, and what we have is wonderful. I don't want it to end. Now why are you angry at him?"
"It's something that can't last, Trunks," Vejita muttered softly, scowling at the boy. "We knew it was doomed." He turned to face Trunks completely now, looking down into those emotional blue eyes. Why was Trunks so very un-Saiyajin like? Why did it attract Vejita so? When was the last time the boy had been in an all out battle to the death? When was the last time Trunks had used violence to solve a situation? He frowned. "Trunks, make a decision. Consider all those you could live happily with. Consider Kakarrotto, and his youngest son, and even his oldest son if you so desire. I don't care. It's time you decide who your mate will be."
Trunks watched as Vejita again turned to walk away. He smiled softly. "It's you, Dad," he called after the prince. Vejita didn't turn to gaze back at him, but merely continued walking in silence until he vanished around the corridor. Trunks frowned as he struggled to keep back the tears. "It's always you."
