Confusing Feelings

Chapter 3: Recovery

A/N: Hi guys, here I come again!

In this chapter, you'll see how Vegeta recovers from his accident in the Gravity Machine. Bulma will try to figure out some secrets from his past life.

I already told you that Vegeta might be slightly OOC. This fict is also kind of an A/U because of the little changes I made from the original timeline. Please don't flame me. I'm trying my best at following the events from the anime series.

Anyway, enough talking, I hope you'll enjoy this new chapter! Here ya go…

Luckily for Bulma, her father had also come rushing from his lab to the back yard to see what had happened. He helped her transport Vegeta to the infirmary. Even though he was already in his sixties, the man was well built and had no problem taking his injured guest to the private medical wing of Capsule Corp. Soon the nurses had finished putting on his arms all the tubes and needles. A doctor entered the room to check his pulse and condition. Fortunately, the Saiyan Prince hadn't suffered any major damage, he was just unconscious, had four broken ribs, a broken arm, a broken leg, and had trouble breathing.

Meanwhile, Bulma was crying in one of the corners of the room next to her father. They had been watching the doctors work for over an hour now, and they still didn't know if he was going to be all right.

"Dad, why is…this...t...t…taking so…l…l…longgg?" Sobbed Bulma.

"I don't know sweetie. I guess that since the poor guy was in the middle of the explosion, it's no wonder he's this badly hurt. Don't worry; I'm sure he'll be OK. He has taken worst beatings when fighting with Goku." Her father tried to console her but it was of no use, she started to cry even more.

Bulma wasn't only crying because of the thought of losing Vegeta but also because her heart was hurting really bad. It was a feeling she hadn't felt before. It was as if a thousand knives had ripped her heart apart, and she didn't know what it was. However, she decided not to tell her father because she didn't want him to have a heart attack, he was already worried enough about Vegeta's accident, it would have been of no use to tell him.

~*~*~

Bulma had fallen asleep on one of the room's chairs. She had been at Vegeta's side for almost 24 hours now. After the doctors had left, her father had accompanied her a while but he soon returned to his lab. She was all alone with him in the room.

Vegeta didn't show any signs of recovery yet. He would probably be unconscious for a week or two. Even though Bulma tried to convince herself otherwise she knew that Vegeta had been only a step away from death. He had already been trapped in an explosion of the Gravity Machine a few months ago but the blast hadn't been so devastating. This time, it had had the same power as a powerful bomb. Everybody was still stunned to see how he had survived. Bulma had come to the conclusion that he must have gotten more powerful since then and his enormous amount of ki had helped him this time.

Suddenly she woke up. Her whole body hurt because of the position she had fallen asleep in. The pain she felt on her heart had lessen a bit. She gave a quick look at the machines attached to his body. Still no progress.

'Kami, why is this taking so long? Usually he heels really fast, it's part of his Saiyan organism."

She soon started to daydream as she watched him. He was actually very handsome, how come she never noticed before? Or was it that she didn't want to notice? Maybe it was because she had been so sucked up by Yamcha that she didn't even consider thinking about anything else than him. He was truly fit to be a Prince. He had a wonderful, well built, God-like body, his handsome features and wild spiky raven black hair only made him more perfect. Even his behavior was one of a royal member. Maybe he was slightly too arrogant, but his Pride and self-confidence was what distinguished him from the others.

Now that he was completely knocked out, his usual frown had disappeared. He seemed so peaceful. His golden tanned skin accentuated his dark mane and thin crimson lips. He almost looked like an angel, yet everybody thought of him as the devil itself. Bulma knew he had changed a lot since the first time she had seen him on Namek; he wasn't that evil, cold-hearted man that had almost killed her. She knew that somewhere deep inside he had a heart of gold, all he needed was someone to help him find it and teach him how to use it.

She somehow understood him. She didn't really know much of his past except that Freezer had destroyed his planet and he had become one of his slaves. How could anyone expect him to be nice specially when the only feeling he had been taught what hatred? She always tried to figure out what a life as a slave could be like. She couldn't understand how the Prince had managed to swallow his pride and serve the warlord. Whatever he had lived through, it surely seemed like a nightmare. That was probably why he wanted so badly the Dragon Ball in order to wish for immortality and defeat his life long enemy, the creature that had humiliated him infinite times.

Of course, Bulma was mostly deducing from the little information Goku had given her. She really wanted to know more about him. His life was like a big mystery. She wanted to know what did he hide behind that huge frown of his and that attitude. And somewhere deep inside of her, she knew that he needed someone, he needed company…just like she did. They needed someone for them, someone they could count on. They needed each other?

'NO! What the hell am I thinking of? Hell, I don't even know this man and I'm already saying that I need him! Something's definitely wrong with me! I think I need to take a shower and some rest. Yup, that's it!'

She was going to leave the room when suddenly Vegeta started talking. She quickly made her way to the bed where he was lying.

"No…NO…FATHER…DON'T LEAVE…FATHER…"

He was hallucinating! She immediately put the back of her hand on his forehead to check if he had any fever. Indeed he was burning hot. She grabbed a thermometer to see how bad his fever was, took of his mask and placed it under his tongue. A few minutes later she took it out.

"WHAT???? 96 DEGREES??? Man, he is a sick Saiyan!" (A/N: I'm not talking about Fahrenheits)

She rapidly injected him a medicine the doctor had left in case he got even sicker than he already was.

"Ok, maybe I'll just stay here a little longer, I wouldn't want him to stay here all alone, who knows what can happen to him. I'll stay just in case."

With that she sat once again and fell asleep. No matter how sick Vegeta was and how preoccupied she was, she had to admit that watching an unconscious person was really boring!

"Babe! Wake up babe! Bulma?? It's me! Wake up!"

Yamcha had stopped by to say hi to Bulma. However, when he finally found her in the medical wing of her mansion, she was sleeping in an uncomfortable looking chair next to the Saiyan Prince. After a few minutes of him trying to wake her, Bulma finally awoke from her deep slumber.

"Oh, hey Yamcha. What's up?"

"Oh, me? Not much. I was just passing by to say hello…um…what happened? What's wrong with him?" He asked pointing to the bed.

"You don't know? Actually nobody does…well…yesterday he had an accident in the Gravity Machine. He's hurt really badly, and there aren't any signs of recovery yet."

"Ok, well, what do you say we go for some ice-cream? Then we could go…" He immediately stopped when he saw a crimson red color invade her usually pinkish cheeks. "Did I say something wrong babe?"

"Did you same something wrong? DID YOU SAY SOMETHING WRONG???? Well what do you think? My guest's lying on a hospital bed almost dead after a horrible explosion while he was training in the Gravity Machine and you're asking me if I wanna go get some ice cream! Tell me! Do you think something's WRONG???"

Yamcha began to back up; one hand behind his head, the other in front of him in a defensive manners and a grin plastered on his face, much like Goku's.

"Babe, I didn't mean it that way. I was saying that so you could think of something else and relax a bit…"

"Really? Well, then that's really nice from you Yamcha…" She said, sarcasm in her voice. "…but I think I'd rather stay here just in case."

"WHAT? Are you telling me that you prefer to be with him than with me?"

"Look Yamcha, now that you say it, I think that…well…I think that…we should…I need some time to think. I didn't mean to say this to you in these circumstances but I think that's the best for both of us."

"…"

"Yamcha, please say something. I know how you must be feeling right now but…"

"YOU THINK YOU KNOW HOW I FEEL? OF COURSE NOT YOU FUCKIN' BITCH!!! YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING!!!! I KNOW WHY YOU WANNA BREAK UP, IT'S BECAUSE YOU LIKE HIM DON'T YOU??? SURE YOU DO!!! IF THAT'S WHAT YOU WANT THEN IT'S FINE FOR ME!!! YOU'RE NOTHING MORE THAN A SIMPLE WHORE!!!"

Then, he turned around ready to leave.

"JUST REMEMBER ONE THING BULMA!!! WHEN HE'LL BE BORED WITH YOU, DON'T COME BACK TO ME, DON'T EVEN TRY CAUSE I WON'T BE THERE FOR YOU!!!

With that he left running. Bulma was now crying. She hadn't meant to be this harsh with him. All she wanted was a little time to think and clear her mind. Now, not only did she have a dying Saiyan but also a lost boyfriend.

"Oh Kami, what am I gonna do now? What did I do to deserve this?"

The poor girl felt more abandoned than ever. If only she had someone with whom she could talk. Her best friend Goku was off with Gohan and Piccolo training, Chichi could never keep a secret even if her life depended on it, Krillin wasn't the best person to talk to, he would fall asleep, anyway, he was also training and well he had just broken up with Yamcha. She knew that this time they weren't going to reconciliate, this was definitive. She had even begun to think of Yamcha more like a brother than a boyfriend. What really hurt her was the fact that after all those years she was alone again.

"Why me? What did I do wrong?" Sobbed Bulma.

"Nothing."

Bulma almost jumped off her seat. Who had said that? She quickly looked behind her only in order to see an empty room, then she turned to see Vegeta. She couldn't believe it. There he was, lying on a hospital bed, eyelids mid open, a mask helping him breath, and…talking to her?

"Vegeta? Was that you?"
