Beside the Seashore
“What are you doing here?” Number 18 asked. She didn’t need to turn around to see who it was. Only one fighter would follow her all this way, even though it took him a long time to get here. “You know you’re no match for me in a fight.”
“I’m not here to fight,” Krillen said.
They stood watching waves crash against the rocky cliffside until the sun sank low along the horizon. Every now and then 18 felt the weight of Krillen’s gaze.
“Don’t worry,” she said. “I can manage just fine on my own.”
“I can’t,” he whispered.
“What are you doing here?” Number 18 asked. She didn’t need to turn around to see who it was. Only one fighter would follow her all this way, even though it took him a long time to get here. “You know you’re no match for me in a fight.”
“I’m not here to fight,” Krillen said.
