Chapter Eight : Inhabitants

Gokou and Gokun finally uncovered their eyes to find themselves encased in ice. It was cold, and it was definitely not pleasant. Both briefly powered up and broke the surrounding ice.
"What was that all about?" Gokun asked, not expecting the question to be answered.
"Winter's early this year?" said Gokou.
The two boys went to the window and looked outside. Everything was in ice...everything! After speculating a little, Gokun joked and said that food would be harder to find now. It wasn't till then Gokou remembered about the soy sauce he was to bring home for the dinner Pastri was making. Oh no! Grandma! Pastri!
Gokou raced to the door before Gokun asked what he was going to do. After explaining, Gokou flew off leaving him behind. Gokun eyed the frozen casualties of the children's' home and frowned.
Don't worry guys...I'll find a way to get you all back to normal. I don't know though...this Gokou has something special about him which I believe can help me. I know it sounds crazy, but it's a gut feeling. I'll be back soon.
Gokun then raced out of the door and flew up into the air before catching up to Gokou. He was surprised but happy.
"You might need my help." Gokun told him.
Gokou just smiled. He was glad that Gokun was going to keep him company. After all, he still felt a little frightened about venturing out into the unknown, but his grandmother and cousin were in danger.

When the two finally arrived at the home of Pan, Gokou was quick to discover this grandmother and cousin, Pastri lying down unconscious under the ice. He melted the ice around them, but they were still out.
"Grandma Pan! Pastri!"
"So this is your grandmother and cousin hey?" Gokun asked.
The boy nodded, before he was assisted to help the 2 casualties up. Pastri had finally come through though and was able to pull a slight smile at Gokou.
"They took the 4-star dragon ball..." she managed to say.
"WHAT!!!???"

Back inside the frozen house, some time passed before Pastri who was now wrapped in blankets finished her explanation of what happened. Gokou felt terrible. If he had come home early, he could've stopped all this from happening. Pastri saw his sorrowful look and smiled.
"You couldn't do anything to stop them Gokou...they were too strong for even you."
"So what now?" Gokun asked.
Pastri and Gokun exchanged blank looks before Gokou got the hint. He introduced them to each other and then placed another warm blanket over his grandmother.
"If Vegeta were here with me, we probably could've knocked those guys out cold!"
The 2 asked who he was, and Gokou explained that it was his new friend he met at the World Tournament. Gokun was pretty amazed to learn that it was the boy he was about to fight in the alley earlier that day.
"I wonder if he survived the attack..." Gokou wondered.
"Why wonder? Lets go see him now. I don't believe the 3 of us are strong enough to stop this terror alone. The more fighters the better ain't it?" Gokun insisted.
The 2 children looked surprised, but then again, they couldn't sit around and wait for the problem to go away. They both agreed and they were all set to go when Gokun asked Gokou were he lives. All then fell quiet.
"You don't know do you?" Pastri asked lamely.
The boy just laughed in embarrassment.

Everyone looked at Vegeta just as he requested for action to take place. Was he crazy or something? They don't even know what they are facing yet!
"Hey Vegeta, that sounds natural to say, but we don't know what we are facing yet." G said.
"Well then, lets just sit down right here and behave like good little kids!" Vegeta said crossing his arms. Dende closed his eyes and concentrated. He couldn't feel moving ki...they were frozen...all except a few.
"Everyone is frozen. Their life force is too, but for some reason I can still feel some energies moving around on Earth."
"It must be Linni, and probably that Gokou kid..." Vegeta said.
Dende began to wonder if her heard right. Did he say Gokou?
Nion began jumping up and down like mad. She was mentioning their mother, and if she'll be okay. Vegeta tried to sense her, but it was hard. At the end, he wasn't sure, but believed she was fine. After all, his mum does have Saiya blood in her just like he does. Even though he was able to convince himself that she was fine, he still felt a duty to go help her...and his cousin, Linni too.
"Okay Nion, I will go and find mama."
"Linni too?" the little girl asked under her red eyes.
Vegeta nodded and turned to G. After a short conversation, the two boys decided that G would stay behind and care for Nion. After all, if they did run into trouble, G couldn't do anything but become a victim. That did sound pretty low, but G even agreed. Everyone watched as Vegeta walked to the edge of the Lookout and looked down onto the frozen earth. To the corner of his eye, he saw the green boy, Shin Piccolo approach him.
"What do you want?"
"I'm going too." The Namek boy simply replied.
"I can handle anything." Vegeta argued.
"You think it's all about you...I'm going because this situation involves the dragon balls and I'm suppose to protect them." Vegeta screwed up his face and agreed before flying off with the green being flying behind him.

"Be careful Piccolo!" Popo called to the boy.
Dende turned to G and Nion who had a perplexed look upon their faces.
"Everything is going to be alright." he comforted them. The two looked up and said nothing. They were both at a loss for words because of the sudden event. After all, G always said that the Earth would never be in danger again since the days when his ancestors were present. That is the reason why he never trained and learned the martial arts. He couldn't fight it off. He felt useless now...like a lost little girl who was waiting for her mummy. G was beginning to regret it. Turning to Nion, he saw her eyes still red. If only he could say everything will be okay...he could comfort his young cousin. Could he listen to the old guardian? He was old and looked like he couldn't fight...so how could he do anything. Same goes for the big black man, Popo. Too many marshmallows...that can't help fight evil. G looked down at the Earth and sighed.

Koogari and the three bug henchmen all cheered for Semi, their ultimate Master.
"No one was spared!" they cried, "No one could survive your terror!"
Semi stared at the surrounding Earth and smirked. Now having the unbelievable strength, he could now sense ki. He could feel numerous ones and this made him unhappy. How could anyone survive his terrific attack?
"Not all." Semi said.
The henchmen paused half way through their celebration, and began to wonder what Semi was going to do. They watched as he began to power up and when he stopped, many small cicada shells appeared hovering in the air. Surprised they continued to look on as Semi called them to open up. The shells broke and out popped a baby bug which quickly gained size and power. The creatures all looked like ugly blown up aliens!
"Go and exterminate anything moving on the Earth!" Semi ordered.
The creatures all did what they were instructed and flew around the Earth looking for trouble.
"Do you want us to help?" Koogari asked in surprise at his Master's new abilities.
"No. You will all remain and help me finish the task of claiming Earth for our own."
The henchmen didn't understand. They thought the Earth was all theirs now. What else do they have to do?
"The Earth has an overseer who protects it. They are our only concern, because they can cause a threat to my plans. We must exterminate the Earth's Lookout. I can do it myself, but where's the fun in that?" Semi bragged.
The henchmen couldn't help but to amazed at their great Master. They did want to have some fun so they agreed. Semi laughed and together they all flew off.

The ice had given her goose bumps all over her body. She was cold. Her head was throbbing and her limbs were all numb. Bobulla was wrapped in a sleeping bag to regain her warmth. Linni had just thrown a capsule onto the floor. After the smoke cleared, their appeared a portable heater. Bobulla, Linni, and her friend, Hazell, all crowded around it and shivered like crazy. They had all survived the attack, and were talking about what they should do now.
"I don't know if it's safe to leave" Linni said.
"I hope Vegeta, Nion and G are alright. They're not here." said Bobulla after shivering for the hundredth time. She then turned to Linni's friend, Hazell.
"How about your family? Are you worried Hazell?"
"No way. My ancestor is powerful! This attack is only a flea bite to her." Hazell bragged, "She'll probably come looking for me now."
The two teenage girls speculated on what to do next, but Bobulla told them to remain hidden for now because they may be met with trouble if they leave. The girls agreed.

Meanwhile, Gokun and Pastri remained impatient. Gokou was still trying to remember anything useful about Vegeta to help them track down where he lives. The naive boy kept mentioning useless facts about what his hair colour was, his eye colour, his personality, his clothing style and so on. Finally, the boy paused, and Pastri turned to her cousin.
"Is that all you remember?"
Gokou thought a bit and put his fingers on his chin. He was thinking.
"That's it, except one thing which I think won't help."
"What's that?" Gokun asked.
"His mum owns the Capsule Corporation."
Pastri and Gokun fell over to his words. Why couldn't he mention something like that earlier? They had wasted so much time. Gokou however didn't understand why they had both fell over. He was really confused, and when Pastri tried to explain it to him, the boy just giggled in embarrassment. Pastri then helped their unconscious grandmother onto Gokou's back, and the 4 of them departed the home to Capsule Corporation.

Vegeta hadn't spoken a single word to Shin Piccolo since they left the Lookout. This didn't bother the young Namek at all, but he was curious to know whereabouts they were heading. Piccolo felt a little awkward to be tagging along with a boy he doesn't know, and also Piccolo has never been beyond the boundaries Dende and Popo set upon him.
"Where are we heading?" Piccolo asked.
Vegeta answered without turning his head.
"My home."
It really surprised Piccolo to learn that this boy had a personality nothing like his sister, Nion. But the more he thought about it, the more he concluded that he was just worried for Nion's safety. Still, his personality could do with some tuning up. Piccolo looked around him and found himself flying over the oceans. It was magnificent, and above the water he watched his reflection gliding on the surface of the blue water, and soon they reached some tiny islands with high cliffs, caves and trees. He couldn't help himself but smile. Piccolo looked up and felt the cool air wash over his face as he flew. When he opened his eyes, he saw something in the horizon. It was coming towards them.
"What's that over there?" he asked.
Vegeta stopped, and Piccolo followed suit.
"Don't know." Vegeta mumbled, as he squinted to get a better look. It soon became apparent that whatever it was, was coming towards them. When they finally got a better look, they both freaked out. A couple of flying bug creatures were heading their way.
"Take cover!" Vegeta called.
The two wasted no time and landed on the closest island and hid in the shrubs and bushes. There they waited impatiently. Soon, the bugs came into their view. Listen.
"I thought there was something over here. I could sense it." one of the bug creatures said.
"Wrong!" another said angrily.
"We have to exterminate any survivors for master Semi as soon as possible so he can rule the Earth, or he'll have our heads on a platter." another mentioned.
Piccolo and Vegeta overheard this and were damn surprised. They were so surprised they almost accidentally gave themselves away. The creatures all looked around and then sensed a couple of survivors.
"Lets go have some fun and kill the survivors!"
The creatures laughed crazily and flew off. Straight after, Piccolo and Vegeta looked over the shrubs they were hiding in.
"They're going on a killing spree." Piccolo exclaimed.
This prompt Vegeta to wonder if they had killed his mother, but the thought made him shutter. He told himself to not think of it. Vegeta flew upwards and was about to fly in the opposite direction when Piccolo stopped him.
"Where are you going?"
"I'm going home."
Piccolo couldn't believe this kid. He found it admirable that he was so intent to find his mother, but Piccolo was also thinking about the survivors that the evil bug creatures mentioned. They were going to kill them!
"Don't you care if the creatures kill those survivors?" Piccolo asked.
The boy just returned a blank stare. He knew what he wanted, and he wanted to save his mother. Piccolo realized this and grew angry.
"Selfish kid, we have to save the survivors first!" Piccolo ordered.
Vegeta hated being told what to do and argued back telling him that his mother was more important. They couldn't see eye to eye, but Vegeta did begin to realize that Piccolo was right, but what about his mum? If something happened to her, what would he tell Nion?
"I can't just leave my mum there, but I understand about the survivors..." Vegeta mumbled under his breath.
"Then lets save the survivors first!"
"Explain why!"
"Because your mother can still defend for herself if something comes to worst. After all, Nion did mention that you were strong. Nion is too, so you must've inherited it off someone." Piccolo said with a smile.
Vegeta returned the emotion and agreed with the green being, then they both powered up and quickly followed the creatures tracks.
"We have to hurry! Who knows when they'll get there!" Piccolo called.

Shin Piccolo and Vegeta Jr are finally thinking logically, but will something happen to Bobulla, Hazell and Linni while they're saving the survivors? And what about the diabolical Semi? He's heading to the Lookout where G, Nion, Popo and Dende reside...can they withstand Semi especially if they can't fight?
