"Goals Delayed"

At Capsule Corp, Vegeta bobbed slowly up and down in the green liquid inside a rejuvenation chamber. Bulma stood close by, keeping an eye on her husband and his progress, while Zurosu stood pressed to the glass somberly. Trunks and Gohan stood at the doorway of the room, leering in.
"I don't get it," Trunks quietly said to Gohan, "How could Kumo, who's only a kid, manage to take out Vegeta?"
"That's because it wasn't Kumo," Gohan replied. Trunks blinked at the comment, clearly not understanding. The saiyan scholar sighed, "Kumo's body was taken over by this ancient tyrant called Enerjak. I'm sure you've heard of him at school?"
Trunks thought back. Now that he thought of it, he vaguely remembered having to learn about this boring topic at elementary school about the destruction of some old kingdom.
Looks like it's not so boring anymore.
"Is everything all right?" Bulma approached the doorway, "Are you going to tell me what's going on already??"
"Videl and the others will explain everything," said Trunks, "Call them, and then tell them to head over to Master Roshi's. You take Dad, Zurosu, and Icalla over there as well."
"What about you guys?" Bulma's eyes narrowed, "What are you going to do?"
"Trunks and I are going to head over to Arnax to save Kumo. If whatever's got him knows how to take out Vegeta of all people, then we're going to need all the help we can get."
"I don't understand what's going on..." Bulma murmured, "But I'll take your word for it. Just be careful out there!"
The two half-saiyans took off down the hall, Trunks saying he wanted to dress out of his business suit and into something a little more battle-comfortable. Bulma turned back inside the room, walking up to the rejuvination chamber and placing her hands on Zurosu's small shoulders. "Honey, why don't we just let Grandpa rest for alittle while? Come on, we're going on a little trip."
Zurosu sighed, closing her eyes and looking to the floor, "Okay, just one minute..."
Bulma frowned, patting her granddaughter on the head, and then left the room. Zurosu looked back up at the saiyan that floated inside the rejuvenation tank. "Grampa, I'm sorry I let Kumo beat me..." she sobbed, "It's my fault you got hurt. I should've given it my all... You must be real mad at me..." She then sank her face on the glass, sobbing more.
"Stop... crying... brat..."
Zurosu blinked and glanced up. Vegeta's eyes were struggling to stay open as they glared back down at her. He was talking through his air mask, which carried his voice out the small ventilators on the side of the chamber.
"I didn't... train you... to be a baby..." he moaned, "You have to be strong.... You are... part of a Saiyan heritage...." He flinched slightly as pain shot through him suddenly.
"Grampa...?"
"Zurosu.... Be.... like a... true.... warrior!" Vegeta's eyes slowly shut as he fell back into unconciousness.
Zurosu stared at her grandfather, taking in his words. Be like a true warrior? He probably wants her to fight just like him! She had to go back to Kumo and get him for what he's done! He did this to Grampa, and now he wants her to take revenge! It was because of her that he's injured, so she owed it to him.
She raced to her bedroom in search of her gi.

Unaware of his surroundings, Kumo continued to fly straight forward in hopes of seeing something familiar. Not one, but many powerful forces appeared to be searching for him. He couldn't afford a moment to waste if he was going to find Arnax.
Below him, there were lines of destroyed houses and rubbles of monuments. Above him, dark clouds that continuously haunted the sky ever since he wrecked havoc on this city... He remembered these surroundings. He had finally made it to Arnax!
Now where could his staff be hidden?
Looking ahead, he noticed the one and only building that appeared to be in once piece. He never saw this place before, but it didn't look as if it was there for long. And if it wasn't in pieces, then most likely everything that was preserved was inside.
Shooting forward, he burst through the doors without the very least slowing down. The people inside screamed as they scrambled to get away from the sudden intrusion of a flying boy with a demented face. Kumo smiled, milking in all the panic. Placing fear was what he lived for. He zipped up to a tubby old man and grabbed him by the shirt collar, yanking his face into his. "I demand to know where the Arnaxian Staff is! Tell me!!!"
"I... I'm sorry, young man...." the old man stuttered, "But we're closed. If you just come back tomorrow, we'll be happy to--"
Kumo raised his fist which was forming a fiery ki ball, "DO NOT ENVOKE MY WRATH!!!"
The old man pissed his pants.
"I will ask one more time... WHERE IS THE STAFF?!?!"
Frightened, the old man shakily raised his hand and pointed to a room behind him. Kumo tossed the man through a nearby wall, knocking him unconscious, and the other employees rushed to his aide. Kumo coolly entered the room and glanced around himself, his eyes finally falling upon a hole in the wall, covered by a sheet of glass, with a tall, thin, golden rod with many colorful gems encrusted in it inside. Smirking, the boy headed towards the staff.
"Step away, Enerjak!"
Kumo halted in his tracks, and glanced over his shoulder. Zayde stood in the doorway, glaring coldly back at the saiyan-child, who seemed mildly surprised at his presence. "Prince of Arnax!" he exclaimed, "I see you managed to survive all these years! Yet you still look like the pathetic young man you were many years back..."
"Of course... Sealing your soul in the canister and ensuring your imprisonment with my life does that to one...." Zayde removed his hat... the purple horns attached, however, stayed on his head, thus revealing his Arnaxian heritage. "I stopped you once, I will stop you again!"
"You didn't do a very good job, my boy," Kumo sneered, "One thousand years, and you failed to notice what I did to your precious kingdom??"
"Bastard!!" Zayde screamed as he shot forward, his fist extended. Kumo only flashed an evil grin before nimbly dodging, then ramming his knee deep into the prince's gut.
"Idiot..." Kumo snided, "This body is no mere child. This boy is gifted with supernatural strength! With him on my side, I will win this battle for the planet!" He pulled his knee out and with his other leg, slammed Zayde through another wall.
The workers fled out of the building while Kumo turned back to the staff, raised his fist, and slammed it through the glass, shattering it into bits, and grabbed hold of the staff. He held it close, embracing its golden light as if it were a drug. "Finally..." he gleamed, "The staff of Arnax is one again in the rightful hands of the one and only proper handler! With these powers and this body, no man on this planet will be able to stand in my way!"
"I won't allow you to continue!!"
Kumo twisted in annoyance. Zayde was once again in the doorway, holding up a large glaive. "Thank you for reuniting me with my favorite weapon!"
"Face it, boy!" Kumo sneered, "That toy of yours is no match for my power!" He held up the staff over his head as it emitted a dark pink glow, as if he was summoning a spell, and shot it at Zayde, who managed to duck away in time as the beam blew away a chunk of the wall.
Zayde rolled, and once he got to his feet, used the momentum to jump at Kumo, raising his glaive above his head, aiming for the boy's skull. Kumo merely raised his staff up, and a golden orb surrounded his body, shielding him from Zayde's attack as the glaive crashed against the shield. The boy then rammed the end of his staff into Zayde's gut, causing the Arnax prince to double over in pain, and then leaped into the air and slammed his foot in his side, sending him soaring out of the building. Zayde skidded violently across the ground and finally grinded to a halt a good 50 yards from the main building, Kumo flying after him closely. As Zayde slowly opened his eyes, he reacted quickly to Kumo about to ram his staff hard into the prince's body by raising his glaive up and having it clash against the stick. He struggled to hold the boy back, whose amazing strength was slowly overpowering him.
"Enough of this!" Kumo hissed as his eyes glowed brightly white and a black aura erupted around his body, "This ends now!"
Before he could do anything to the eternal man, a bright energy ball struck him in the side and knocked him over a good amount of feet. Zayde glanced up, surprised to see a group of people floating in the air just above him. Kumo rubbed his head and glanced up at what had hit him. "YOU AGAIN!"
Goten smirked, as Pan and Akira floated close by. "Why not pick on someone you're own strength?"
"Leave this now!" Zayde shouted, as he struggled back to his feet, "This is my problem, and only I can stop him!"
Akira rolled his eyes, "Yeah you're doing such a great job here yourself..."
"And this problem isn't only yours," Goten growled, advancing on the evil spirit that currently had control over Kumo, "That's my son that tyrant's taken over, and I'm going to do whatever it takes to save him!"
Kumo grimaced at this, and then swished his staff from one side to another, aimed at the saiyans in the sky. Suddenly, the line he had drawn erupted in explosions, hitting each warrior and sending them crashing into the ground. The saiyan boy quickly turned tail and shot off towards a tall, pointy mountain straight ahead.
It was going to take more than magic explosions to keep Goten down, however. He jumped into the air and gave chase, charging ki balls and hurling them at the younger warrior. Kumo ducked and dodged every bullet blast, and finally annoyed, he pointed his staff at Goten, emitting a pink ball and landing square on the demi-saiyan. Goten braced himself for what he thought might have been an explosion, but only found himself in the interior of a giant pink bubble. Kumo raised his staff up and smacked it into Goten like a baseball, sending him far off.
Pan and Akira charged to Super Saiyan and took to the sky after the young quarter-saiyan. Noticing the two warriors heading his way, the boy pointed his staff and charged an enormous energy ball, which he shot at the two. Akira pulled Pan back and charged a ki ball of his own, throwing it at the energy ball. The collision of both power balls caused a near-atomic explosion. Akira threw himself on top of Pan, shielding her from the blast.
While all the chaos with the explosion and debris distracted everyone, Kumo shot through the havoc and made his way towards the tall, pointy mountain known as Mt. Fate.

"C'mon, Vegeta, easy does it now!" Bulma carefully helped her husband lift himself out of the rejuvination chamber.
"Aigh!! Not so hard, woman!! I'm not healed yet!"
"Once we get to Master Roshi's, we'll put you back in, so just take it easy." Bulma reached over and pressed a button on the side of the chamber, and with a puff of smoke, it turned into a capsule.
"Zurosu?" Icalla tapped her daughter's room with her knuckles, "Hurry up, we've got to get goin'."
"I'm almost ready, Momma!"
Zurosu finished pulling on her boots and tying her orange belt around her dark green gi, the outfit that once belonged to her father when he was about her age. She wore it to every training session with her grandfather... and now she was going to wear it to her first battle.
'Sorry about this, Mom...' she thought as she opened her window and took off across the horizon.
Meanwhile, downstairs, Vegeta gasped and nearly fell forward before Bulma could place him in the aircar. He grabbed the side of the car and leaned against it as he turned himself around and move forward, only to have Bulma grab him by his shoulders and hold him back. "Vegeta, what's gotten into you??" she cried.
"It's... Zurosu!"
"She says she's on her way," Icalla responded as she entered the room.
"No..." Vegeta murmured, "She's... gone!"
The two women gasped. "Gone??" cried Bulma, "Where?? Did she go to Master Roshi's ahead of us??"
"No..." Vegeta staggered, squatting while trying to save his strength, "She went... the other way!" he glared upwards, "She's going to Arnax!!"

A/N: Talk about a crappy cliffhanger! :P
If you notice more spelling and/or grammar errors than usual, it's because the 60-day trial for Microsoft Office went out, and now I am without a spell checker.... Damn, and here I thought those programs CAME with the new computer!!! >_< So feel free to pick at this thing like it's roadkill and tell me what's wrong, and hopefully, by the time the next chapter comes out, I will have installed a Microsoft Office with a functional spell checker....
