The New Era
Chapter 5
Eight years since the Earth's special Defenses were killed, Chaos had complete control over Earth. He had established his empire of evil, now in his own rule. Goku and Vegeta could only watch in horror, as the once peaceful Earth soon turned into a disgraceful planet of pain and darkness.
Wild, dangerous animals were let loose every where, with no laws to hold them back. To make things worse, Chaos had also revived demons, which now spent their time feasting on human flesh. It was the beginning of a new Era, an era of darkness!
Meanwhile, in the real world; it was the year 2012, a year of new technology being built, which revolutionized the Earth. There were many technological changes, including a wide screen T.V inside a car! A good example of the changes being made was Kyoto, a city that had been altered quite dramatically…

Sunlight streamed through the closed carpet and onto the wooden floor. The alarm then sounded, as a weary hand reached from the bed and slammed the alarm shut. The boy who was currently half-awake, rolled over his bed, hoping to drift back to sleep yet again. But that idea, however, quickly vanished into thin air, as the door creaked open.
"Ryu, wake up you sleepy head!" said his mother, who walked over towards the curtains and opened them, allowing the light to shine into the room.
"All right, I'm up, I'm up!" Ryu moaned, tossing his bed covers aside and leaping out of bed.
His mother shook her head in disgust, as she strode out of the bedroom and away to the kitchen.
I suppose a description of him would be better. Ryu, who was eight, was a hyper-active kid, always on the go. He had long brunette hair that was long as half a meter, and had golden eyes that shimmered with the sun light. Although he preferred sports over school, he was always forced to study under his mother's policy, as he managed to achieve fairly good grades within school. Of course, he did not seemed to mind whether he received good grades or not, his so-called mother would always seem to get in his way…

Ryu quickly got dressed and brushed his teeth in less than 2 minutes, as he rushed down for breakfast. There, he saw a large stack of pancakes right in front of him, just waiting for him to sink his teeth into.
"All right Ryu, remember to be nice to your new teachers at school." His mother spoke, sizzling a few pieces of bacon in her frying pan.
"Yes ma…" he said, stuffing three pancakes into his mouth at once, swallowing them down with a mighty gulp. His mother continued lecturing on about what he had to do on the first day of school, as Ryu completely ignored her and kept eating his way through his meal.
`La la la…not listening…' he thought as his mother lectured on.

He took the rusty old lift, which had an old creaky metal gate which prevented anyone from falling off. He punched a few buttons in, as the metal gates closed and the lift began to descend downwards.
He reached the ground floor, as he strolled off across the stone pathway which led towards the main street. He walked off down the street, letting the cold city air rush by him. He hated the first day of school, wishing that the holidays would go on for ever more, something which most kids in his school wished. But of course, he knew his mother would complain and scowl at him if he did not attend, sighing as he continued down the road…

No sooner had he reached the front gates of Saint Marius Elementary School, as he waltzed into the building, lugging his heavy backpack.
He gazed at the message board, which had a swarm of kids gathered around it. He managed to squeeze through to the front, trying to locate his name on the lists of classes this term. When he finally found it, his face dropped his happy expression.
"Mr. Cogswell? No way!" he exclaimed, marching off towards his form room.
"Some kids say he was the world's most dullest teacher of all time…" he thought, as he entered a room which read, "G6-C"

His class ended with a unexciting lecture about school rules and policies, something which everyone already knew about.
Ryu walked towards his new locker, clipping on a combination padlock that belonged to him.
After sorting out his locker, he charged towards the canteen, hoping to find some food still available. He was running so fast that he did not realize what was in his way.
`WHAM'
Ryu fell backwards, trying to get back on his feet. Glancing up, he saw a boy that was no taller than he was, with light-blue eyes and sapphire hair. He was wearing a black fleece coat with dark blue pants.
"Watch where you're going," the stranger said, as Ryu got to his feet.
"Um, sorry about that," Ryu said. "I was just trying to get to the cafeteria to get me some lunch and-"
"Well, you're too late." The boy said, holding up a curry bun. "This is the last thing left."
"Oh, well that's okay. I'll grab one tomorrow." Ryu said, turning around and walking away.
"Wait," the boy called, running over to Ryu. "I'll break the bun in half and we'll share, all right?"
Ryu's face lit up, as he smiled happily. "Thanks!"
~*~
"And your name is Washi," Ryu asked, as he finished eating his half of the bun.
"Yup, and I'm a transfer student from Tokyo." said Washi, as he put his arms at the back of his head and leaned on the tree behind him.
The two boys were lounging on a tree next to the field, talking about random things which interested them.
"Wow, and you like the same kinda stuff I do!" Ryu remarked, glancing over to Washi.
"Yeah, but I didn't think that anyone else would like old anime shows like Dragonball Z and Hack//Sign…" Washi smirked, his thick hair shadowing his eyes from view.
"So, have you lived here all your life?"
Ryu scratched the side of his cheek, thinking about his own past.
"Well, yeah, as long as I can remember,"
"Well you certainly looked like you've been through a happy life so far," Washi snorted, staring over to the field where boys of different sizes were just about to start another soccer match.
Ryu glanced up to his new friend, as he inhaled deeply the summer air.
"I've been raised far harsher than you; my parents aren't exactly thrilled with my existence. They even told me that I wasn't really their kid, but merely an orphaned child that was left upon their door step one night…"
"No way!" exclaimed Ryu.
"Yes, and then they said that the only reason they took me in was because they believed that if they didn't, it would be considered a sin to god, something which they do not want to commit…" he looked down at Ryu, who had his mouth wide open.
"Yeah, and that's not the only thing; their real son Thomas seems to make my life even more worse, always accusing me of every bad thing he ever did, and I've always had to take the blame, not only the punishment…"
"Then why don't you tell what really happens!?" Ryu questioned.
Washi sighed, as he continued his story. "Although my so-called mother and father knew that it was his fault, they'd still make me do the punishments they made…"
Ryu gritted his teeth at the thought of all that cruelty, feeling enough anger to punch a tree down.
"But heck, now I live with one of their relatives, Aunt. Marge, someone that gives me less trouble than my previous life…" Washi said, standing up from the tree and slowly walking off; leaving Ryu deserted.
"Man, I still can't believe how he put up with all that torture…" Ryu thought, as he stood up, and proceeded back towards his locker, his head still clogged up with thoughts…

The walk home was quite depressing for Ryu, as he had no one to keep him company.
He strolled down the stone path, which lead towards the apartment that he stayed in. He then approached the lift, noticing someone very familiar standing there.
"Washi?" he asked, as his friend looked over towards him.
"Ryu, what in the world are you doing here!?" Washi exclaimed, lugging his navy-blue backpack on his shoulder.
"Don't tell me that you…"
"…Live here?" Ryu finished, staggered as Washi was.
"Oh wow! This is great! We stay in the same place!"
