Chapter XVI
The moment they phased from sight, Kaeru began fidgetting, waiting for Gokou to return. She'd opted to stay behind, given that she was a newcomer. She should let those who were experienced with this sort of thing go first.

The sound of a Capsule car landing made the rest of them look up, as Buruma scurried from the car as fast as she could. "Shit.. I'm too late. …damnit.."

"What is it, Buruma?" Kuririn asked, off-handedly.

"I wanted test this before Gokou left." she displayed a box, silver in color, about the size of the Dragon Radar. Inside it was a strange crystal, with facets like a gem, but the size and color of a tangerine.

"Well, he'll be back as soon as he brings the first bunch to Namecksei." Putting his absent nose almost against the strange device she held, he poked the crystal with his forefinger. "What's this gizmo here?"

"Oh this? Nothing really.. Just something I would have liked to test out." she smiled cockily. "It's my newest invention, actually. It's the beta version, of course, but what it does basically is…" She opened her mouth in what Kuririn was sure to be a long-winded explanation, full of technical science words that he wouldn't understand.

"Just get to the point." He grumbled.

Looking like she was about to hit him, Buruma cleared her throat and continued. "In a nutshell, it gauges power levels. Once it's traced a ki reading, it keeps track of it."

"What about those of us who don't have them?" Juuhatchi asked, her blue eyes cold.

"That's the hitch." she said proudly. "Not only does it read a person's life-energy, it also reads electrical output, the same electrical energy produced by both organic and inorganic life forms, and translates it into a power-level."

Kuririn blinked several times. "Whoa." Buruma merely grinned.

"I amaze myself sometimes."

Kaeru was waiting impatiently, plucking strands of fabric from the hem of her gi. The entire waistline was frayed.

"Here. Hold this. And if you drop it, I'll hold you down and shave your head." Handing over her new gadget to Kuririn, she returned to the car, returning with what seemed to be a glasses case, with the Capsule Corporation logo emblazoned on it. Popping it open, she withdrew a capsule, and tossed it to Kaeru. Even though she wasn't looking up, she caught it anyway, right before it hit her in the head.

"What's this?" she'd never seen the capsules that Buruma's company had become so famous for.

"It's for you. On the house."

The group there then watched, as Kaeru surveyed the pill-shaped object, holding it close to her face, scrutinizing it, turning it over in her fingers. Sweatdropping, Buruma rubbed her temples. "Go in the back, and press the little button on top."

Nodding slightly, she disappeared into a back room. A squeal of surprise from the Saiyajin indicated to them that she'd discovered what was inside the capsule. A few minutes later, she came out, wearing one of the modified Saiyajin uniforms Buruma had designed during the Cell Game. This one, however, was lacking the armor, and the white gloves were cut off at the first knuckle joint Grinning proudly, she coiled her tail around her waist, turning around in a slow circle for their approval.

Videl nodded. "Way to go." She elbowed Gohan, who had been miffed ever since he'd been rebuked by the pair of them. He in turn managed a gesture of approval.

Kuririn however, wasn't so confident. "He should be back by now." Shunkan Idou was instantaneous, and it shouldn't have taken this long to go from Namecksei and back. Gohan's expression was grim.

"Something must have happened."
