Chapter 3

The sun was shining overhead and there were a few clouds in the sky. A small flock of birds winged their way across the deep blue sky. Far down beneath them were a row of round buildings that belonged to certain inventor and his family. At the moment all seemed peaceful in this setting. There was a lady happily humming to herself as she worked in the garden. Every now and then she would pause in her work and look up into the sky.

In another part of these extensive grounds an older gentleman with a cat draped over a shoulder was busily puzzling over his latest invention. Absentmindedly he reached over to grab his cup of coco. He brought it up to his lips to take an enjoying sip. A small drop hit his tongue. He brought it closer to his eye realizing that it was empty. Disappointed, he set the cup aside and began to stroke the cat who began to purr in pleasure.

He began to ponder on whether he should risk entering the kitchen at this time in the morning. He really wanted a nice, hot cup of coca. He looked around to see where his wife, Bunny had gone to. Probably in the garden somewhere. The little cat rubbed against his chin as if encouraging him to take the risk.

His decision made, he picked up his cup that had the Capsule Corp logo on the side. Muttering cheerfully to himself he made his way towards the kitchen.

"...so remember that I have to work on the Gravity Room today."

" WHAT!" the word was almost a howl of rage making the plates in the cupboard rattle from the force.

" This is the time of year that I do the routine maintenance work on that Gravity Room you are so obsessed with," she reminded him in even tones that seemed to sound a little superior.

There was muttered grumbled that the professor was glad he could not make out. He son-in-law was not one with a winning personality. The inventor entered into the kitchen, where he saw his daughter calmly seated at the table buttering her toast; while, her husband was scowling down at his huge portion of different foods. That was one expression he was well practiced at wearing.

His only child glanced up and gave him a cheerful smile, " Good morning, dad, how is your latest work coming along?"

" Fine. Is there any hot coco left?" He asked into the strained silence of the kitchen.

Bulma jumped up not the least upset over her husband's attitude that reminded her of Trunk's sulks when he could not have his way. :Sometimes Vegita can be such a little boy,: she thought going over to her father. She took his cup and refilled it with hot coco from the thermos. She handed the cup back to him giving the cat a quick pat.

She waited until her father had departed from the room before turning back to her spouse who was busily wolfing down his food. It never ceased to amaze her how much her husband and son ate in just one setting. :To think all the times I saw Goku clean out a restaurant in his youth. He was the only person I knew who could eat so much and not put on an ounce of weight.:

She wore a bemused smile upon her lips as Vegita happened to glance up and see her watching him. There was a far away look in her deep, sapphire eyes.

:She has matured into something beautiful,: he was surprised by the thoughts that came bubbling up from deep within. The one thing he hated to do was show outwards emotions when there were others around. Having spent years in the company of Frieza's hard bitten troops, he had learned very early to never show a moment's weakness. He had witnessed too many times the results the first sign of weakness created. The others would turn upon that person and rendered that one to pieces. He had learned his lesson too well.

Bulma had taught him how to live again. Perhaps, even dream of things besides the next battle. The next win against a stronger adversary.

:For the longest time I was driven to beat Kakarot. It consumed me because of my pride. When did I first began to realize that I cared for Bulma?:

He shook away his thoughts of retrospect to focus on more current things.

" How many days it will take you this time to maintain the Gravity machine?"

" You have been saying that you want some revisions done on the machine. I can get to that while doing a routine maintenance check it. If you want those little extras thrown in it will take me four days."

He thought about that for a moment. He did want something that would be a little more challenging then his usual routine. Lately, his training sessions had been becoming a little tame. He never breath a word of that to anyone.

" Goku has been bothering me lately that we never spar together anymore," he groused, his manner of agreeing to have the work done.

Bulma looked at him from the side of her eye shaking her head. " In that case you can take Trunks with you to visit with Goten."

He brought his head up sharply as she was walking away. He finished his breakfast trying to find a way out of taking Trunks with him.

He was putting his plates on the countertop near the sink for the housekeeper to place in the dishwasher later. That was as far as he went to be domesticated. The door-chime sounded as he was exiting the kitchen.

He was about to ignore it, " Vegita will you get that since I am getting ready to do the Gravity machine," she knew just what words to use.

Muttering darkly under his breath he went over and yanked the door open. He was ready to blast the visitor when he saw who it was.

" Goku," he challenged ready to pounce until he saw the very serious expression on his rival's face. This was not the usual open faced person he was use to seeing. Instead his face was closed and his black eyes were not expressive but shuttered.

" Is there a place where we can go and talk in private?"

Taking in the tension that seemed to be dancing around the other person, he paused considering the strange request. Finally he nodded, " Follow me," he shot up into the air with his rival following him. When he looked back he realized that Goku was carrying something small in his arms.

He had been so focused on his rival that he had failed to see that he was carrying something in his arms. He reached out to investigate what or who this other being was. He slammed into a barrier that was very tight not allowing him to glimpse even the most basic of information.

He pulled back his head almost ringing from the abrupt way he had slammed into that shield. It was the strongest he had ever come up across. He did not like what that entailed. This must be something serious indeed. He narrowed his eyes at the very thought of going up against another adversary like Buu. He was not afraid, that was word that did not exist in his vocabulary.

They sped along for a few more minutes until they came to a small island. There both warriors landed on the golden sand. Goku gently set down his burden. He leaned over and pealed back the covering to reveal the face of a young child.

Vegita crossed his arms narrowing his black eyes. Despite himself he was curious about the child's identity. He did not recall his mate saying anything about Chichi expecting another child. Had pure hearted Goku done the unthinkable and had an affair with another woman? He smirked at the thought. Chichi would rip his heart out and feed it to him.

Okay, so I am going to leave you in suspense about what happens next. Who is this strange child that Goku has showed up with? What does he intend to tell Vegita that he can't tell the others? Find out next time.
