Dragon Ball/Z/GT Fan Fiction ❯ Everything You Want ❯ One-Shot
[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
Author's Note: Hi everybody!!! Hisaki here, and bringing you another one of my stories about my most FAVORITE couple of all time, Trunks and Pan! This here is just a little quickie songfic that I got thought up while listening to the song, "Everything You Want" by Vertical Horizon. I love that song! I just thought it would be really sweet for a type of fic like this. Now mind you, whenever I write songfics, the lyrics are typed up as I hear it while playing through the song; if I messed up, sorry. I tried my best!!! Don't flame me just for that, because that's just plain stupid...
Note: I spell "ki" like they do in the manga. It's actually spelt "chi", but don't go pronouncing it like you would when you say "ChiChi". It's pronounced "ki", just spelt differently, okay? Just saving you from the confusion...
ANYWHO...Please continue reading and enjoy my story!!! Make sure to review afterwards too of course! Ja!!! ^.~ *bows*
Disclaimer: (I don't even know why I bother putting these things up sometimes...) Unless you're a total idiot, no, I do not own Dragonball/Z/GT, or any of its characters. Everything belongs to them peeps in Japan, FUNImation, and Akira Toriyama, okay? Don't go suing me, unless you would like to inherit...*checks in her pockets* A paperclip...a piece of string...an old movie ticket stub for "Sorority Boys" (That movie was freakin' funny...), and a piece of bubblegum...O.o;;

"It's no use," Trunks sighed to himself. He stared miserably out his window and looked down upon all the activity going on in his backyard. Goku and Goten were both pigging out on all the hambergers and hotdogs while Goten's girlfriend Bra, Marron, and Ubuu looked on in amusement, watching and chuckling at both of their enourmous appetites. ChiChi, 18, and Videl were chatting happily at another picnic table that was set up in the yard, right next to that was the table with all the chips and other refreshments (sodas, beer, dips, etc.). Krillin, Yamcha, Tien, Choutzu, and Master Roshi were having a poker game at the table besides the women, and Gohan was over in the corner of the yard talking with Piccolo. As usual, Vegeta and Bulma were bickering about something, Bulma at the grill, Vegeta standing besides her, head turned away and arms crossed.
Yes, all of this was a happy scene, but all of that wasn't what made Trunks so depressed. At the far end of the yard was a large shady tree, underneath it was Pan and her boyfriend, Akira (A/N: NO Not the Akira from Akira, not Akira Toriyama...Just...the guy's name is Akira, okay???), the two of them cuddling up to eachother. They were both young and at the end of their teenage years; Pan 18, Akira 19. Trunks sighed again, cursing under his breath at the young man. Yeah, the guy was everything any girl around Pan's age would like. He was tall, his dark brown hair slicked back, his eyes a bright emerald green, and his build wasn't bad either. Yeah, the way it looked, Pan wasn't gonna give up on him too easily. They had already been going out for a good two years.
~Somewhere they're speaking...
Somewhere they're coming in
All of this rising in the back of your mind
You never could get it
Unless you were fed it
And now you're here and you don't know why~
Trunks had fallen in love with Pan the year before. It was at her 17th birthday, and it had been the first time Trunks had seen her since their return from space. When the lavander-haired Saiyan prince's eyes had fallen on the raven-haired beauty, his breath was taken away. She was wearing a long midnight blue evening gown, the edges of it trimmed with gemstones, her hair tied up high and then falling down in curly pieces from the top of her head, thin strands of dark hair framing her pale, delicate face. Diamond earrings hung from her ears, a matching diamond choker attached to her long neck. She was absolutely gorgeous.
That's when Trunks met Akira for the first time. All his hopes of having a chance with her were taken away in an instant. Trunks had already begun to develope feelings for the quater Saiyajin during their long journey in outer space, but back then he was mentally battling with himself; She was only a child! She hadn't even fully grown yet, hadn't even fully matured! And here he was, a fully grown man in his late twenties. That's when the Saiyan prince banished any emotional feelings for Pan besides friendship out of his mind and heart. But that moment when he saw her, NOW fully grown, NOW fully matured, her figure curved gracefully, everything so perfect...
Trunks felt his heart break into pieces, his one true love, whom he now knew was his true love from the start, would never be his.
~But under skinned knees and the skid marks
Past the places where you used to learn
You'll howl and listen
Listen and wait for me
Echos of angels who won't return~
Suddenly there was a knock at the door. Trunks snapped his head into it's direction, softly replying "Come in," as the door gently swung open, revealing Goten.
"Hey Trunks, why aren't you downstairs? Come join the party!" Goten smiled his classic goofy Son smile, walking over to his friend and sitting down besides him as Trunks continued to stare out of the window blankly.
"No thanks..." Trunks trailed off.
"Trunks? Trunks what's wro..." Goten was cut off as his eyes fell upon his niece and her boyfriend outside of Trunks's window. "Oh, I see." Goten sighed and patted his friend on the back.
Trunks held his hand up to his cheek, resting his elbow on his windowsill. "Do you think I even have a chance? I mean...look at them! They look so happy together. Who am I to try to come between them? He beat me to it. The bastard beat me to it..."
Goten sighed and looked at his best friend sympatheticly. "I don't know what to tell you buddy. I mean, I know how you feel about her, and the way you describe it is the same exact way I feel towards your sister. Our relationship would have never existed if it wasn't for me mustering up enough courage and telling her. You know she was dating other guys at the time I told her, and when I did, she dumped her boyfriend in a heartbeat. She was just going out with him to cover up her feelings that she had for me. If you're lucky, maybe Pan-chan is doing the same thing as Bra did."
Trunks looked up at Goten, then back down out into the yard and nodded.
"I guess you're right. I'll never know until I give it a try..."
"You know Trunks, she did used to have feelings for you when she was just a kid. Who knows, maybe they're still there. Give it a shot."
Goten stood up and rested his hand on Trunks's shoulder. With that, Trunks stood up, took a deep breath, then nodded, following Goten out of his room and down to the barbeque.
~He's everything you want
He's everything you need
He's everything inside of you that you wish you could be
He says all the right things
At exactly the right time
But he means nothing to you and you don't know why...~
Just before stepping out into the yard, Trunks stopped in front of a full-length mirror that was out in the hallway. He brushed his fingers through his hair, straightening it out, brushing away a strand of his violet hair out of his sapphire blue eyes. He then quick checked if his outfit was okay; he was wearing a black t-shirt and dark blue jeans. Good enough. With that, Trunks sighed, and stepped out into the sunlight.
The few people who noticed him waved, Trunks waving back, a little smile appearing across his face. He sighed, and then made his way towards the shady area where Pan and Akira were sitting, seeing Goten flash him a thumbs-up sign out of the corner of his eye. The prince demi-saiyan gulped, and approached the young couple.
"Uh...Hi Pan-chan. Hi...Akira."
Pan looked up smiling brightly at Trunks. "Hi Trunks!"
Trunks smiled back. Oh that beautiful smile of hers. That sweet, sweet voice. Akira gave a polite smile and nodded to Trunks.
"Er...Akira? You don't mind if I have a word with Pan for a second or two...?"
Pan and Akira looked at eachother for a brief moment, Pan shrugging a little and Akira doing the same. "Sure why not?"
"You don't mind, do you?" Trunks asked, not that he really cared what Akira thought, he was just trying to seem polite.
"Nah, it's okay, I'm gonna go grab something to eat," responded the brown-haired young man, giving a little wave and heading off towards the food. With that, Trunks took Akira's place besides Pan and smiled at her, trying to gather up all his courage for what he was about to tell her.
~You're waiting for someone
To put you together
You're waiting for someone to push you away
There's always another
Wound to discover
There's always something more you wish he'd say~
Trunks took a deep breath. "Pan, there's something I've been meaning to tell you for a long time now, and...well, I should've told you along time ago, but when I felt the time had come, it was too late, and..."
Pan stared at Trunks confused. "Wait, hold on, what are you talking about? You're not making any sense, just pause for a moment and don't rush so fast."
Trunks sighed, nodding, and started over.
"Pan, I've been wanting to tell you this for a long time, but I was afraid I would scare you away. I...I..." Trunks gulped. He had never been so nervous before in his life.
"You...?" Pan urged him on, curious as to what he was trying to tell her.
"I...L...Love...you..." Trunks stuttered out. At that instant, Pan's ebony black eyes widened. "Yes Pan-chan, I do. I've loved you for so long, I just...had some trouble trying to figure it out and then trying to tell you in the right way."
Pan stared at Trunks blankly, her eyes still wide, her mouth opened in shock. Trunks...loved her?
Afterwards there was a long moment of silence. A long, uncomfortable silence. Trunks sat there, nervous as to what Pan's reaction would be, as Pan herself stared out blankly at the ground in front of her.
"How can you do this to me," whispered Pan.
Trunks's breath was cut short at hearing her words, trying to confirm what she just said. "Wh...what?"
"I said how can you do this to me!? Trunks...I..." Pan's voice started getting louder, but not loud enough to get anybody's attention thankfully. Above them the sky started to darken as gray clouds rolled over across the bright blue sky and blocked the sun.
"How could I what? I love you, Pan!" Trunks told Pan, voice and heart full of worry, his head fogged up with confusion. Pan stood up and looked down at Trunks, her eyes begin to water up.
~He's everything you want
He's everything you need
He's everything inside of you that you wish you could be
He says all the right things
At exactly the right time
But he means nothing to you and you don't know why...~
"Iie, you don't understand Torankusu." Pan started to choke back on her own words as tears started to fall from the corner of her eyes and roll down her cheeks. "I have loved you since the first day I ever met you. Yeah, sure, perhaps it was just a cute little crush, I will admit that. But ever since our trip in space? I knew I had fallen in love with you during that time, Trunks, I knew I had. I had hoped deep inside that you felt the same way towards me, that you would overlook our age differences. But you didn't, did you Trunks?" Pan moved her hands up to her eyes, pushing away the tears that were about to emerge from them and wiping off the wet trails that lead down her cheeks. "No, you didn't. The thing that hurt most was that I knew deep down inside that you DID feel the same way I felt towards you, I saw it..."
Trunks looked up at Pan, trying to get rid of the lump in his throat that was rising. With that, he cut her off suddenly. "Nani? Paansu...I don't understand. I just said I love you! I do! I'm not denying my love for you anymore! Aishiteru! I..."
Pan raised her hand up to Trunks, making him silent.
"Let me finish. I knew you loved me, but instead of admitting your true feelings for me back then, you held them back, and I know why you did it too, Torankusu. You did it because of our age difference. You still looked down upon me as a child; yet I was indeed the one that you knew you had fallen in love with, so what difference should it had made? Who cares? The only thing that should've mattered was that we loved eachother, ne?"
Trunks just continued staring up at Pan, feeling his own eyes become watery with his oncoming tears.
"So afterwards, years later, I never see you. I try to cope with my feelings. I cried every night as I lay myself down to sleep. It took me those years that we had been apart, Trunks, those two and a half years to finally find it in myself to go out and find somebody else that I would have feelings for. And you know what? I did. I found Akira. And I'm guessing that you probably regained your feelings for me when you saw me at my birthday, didn't you? What was it Trunks, because I grew a full set of breasts that you would have fun playing around with? Huh?"
Trunks shook his head furiously. "Iie, Paansu, Iie! I..."
Yet, once again, Trunks was cut off.
"Okay, whatever, then you thought I had finally grown up, huh? Well you know what? I was grown up. Maybe not on the outside, but in here..." Pan held her hand up to her heart. "For me to find it deep down inside of myself, to know that you were my true love, when I was only 14 years old, I knew I was. I always acted it too. But it had to be all about looks with you Trunks, so it's not until now you finally decide to fess up."
~But you'll just sit tight
And watch it unwind
It's only what you're asking for
And you'll just be just fine
With all of your time
It's only what you're waiting for...~
Finally Trunks had his chance to speak his mind.
"Paansu, ne...I don't understand still. I love you now, what has happened is in the past and it's behind us. Everyone makes mistakes, and that was the biggest mistake I have ever made in my whole life, and trust me on this, I've made many, so that's one mistake out of millions. What I don't understand still is that you obviously have been telling me that you love me too, so what's the problem?"
Pan felt her tears rush back to her eyes and fall down her face again.
"The problem is that I have a boyfriend now. I've found someone else that I have feelings for. The reason why I'm so upset is because you finally decide to tell me AFTER I found him! What am I supposed to do? Huh? What were you thinking? That I would just drop him like that?" Pan snapped her fingers. "That I would just dump him in an instant?"
Just then Pan's eyes widened again, and she glared at Trunks, who had gotten up from his place on the ground and was now standing in front of her.
"Oh, I see now. Trunks, you ass. You've been speaking to Uncle Goten. Well you know what? I'm not like Bra. She just went out and picked up random guys, just trying to block Goten out of her mind. So in a way, Uncle Goten was just lucky that she didn't do what I did. I found somebody else that I love, and you can't just suddenly decide to come in and ruin that." Pan took one step backward, towards where everybody was. "You can't...because I won't let you." Pan then whipped around and ran off towards the house, passing by everybody and slamming the door shut behind her, obviously arousing suspicions from the others there at the party, everybody turning around towards the far end of the yard where Trunks was standing, dumbfounded, leaning back against the tree.
~Out of the island
Into the highway
Past the places where you might have turned
You never did notice
But you still hide away
Anger of angels who won't return~
Trunks choked back on his tears, fighting for them not to come out, but to no avail. They started to run down his cheeks, a small, quiet sob escaping his throat, turning around suddenly, and, without thinking, blasting off into the air with full speed. He flew all the way up into the clouds above his house, the once gray clouds becoming darker in color, turning almost black, thunder starting to rumble across the sky, a rainstorm coming on. Trunks shut his eyes tightly, the tears still streaming down his face, another sob escaping him, suddenly his eyes snapping wide open, and an angry howl escaping his mouth as his blue eyes flashed to a pupil-less turquiose-blue and a bright yellow flash of light spread throughout the sky like lightning, a golden aura surrounding him, his hair spiked up and gold. Trunks closed his eyes again, the tears beginning to stop as his anger took over, two large chi blasts forming in the center of his palms which were facing eachother, then, squeezing the energy beam together, making it explode all around him as he cried out.
"SHIMATTA!!!!"
Down below, the rain had already begun to pour down, and hard. Akira had already ran into the house to find Pan, a concerned Bra and Marron following persuit. Most of the others were struck with confusion; what had just happened? Trunks had just blasted off into the sky in quite a rush, Pan running into the house in tears. They could only guess...
All the party guests started going into the house, now only the Saiyajin men standing out in the rain, staring at eachother with solemn looks on eachother's faces. Gohan sighed, looking up at Vegeta, then turning to the house and going inside to find his wife and to console his daughter. Vegeta and Goku looked at Goten, their eyes narrowed, Vegeta looking up into the sky, then turning his back to the Sons and following Gohan inside of the house. Goku looked at his youngest son, the same expression on his face as Vegeta and Gohan had on, nodding slightly, his gaze going up into the sky. Goten nodded to his father, then, with that, he turn around and charged up, blasting into the sky after his best friend.
~He's everything you want
He's everything you need
He's everything inside of you that you wish you could be
He says all the right things
At exactly the right time
But he means nothing to you and you don't know why...~
Goten finally had caught up with Trunks when he found him floating above a small abandoned island, creating large chi blasts and shooting them down at the landscape below him, causing as much damage as he possibly could do to the tiny tropical island. Palm trees exploded into flames, rocks and caverns split in half and were blasted into pebbles, and the beautiful flowers wilted crumbled up into ashes.
"Trunks! Trunks, what the hell are you doing? Stop it!" Goten grabbed his friends arms and held them behind his back. "This isn't doing you any good!" Trunks kept on struggling, until it reached the point where Goten had to power up into his own Super Saiyan form in order to restrain him. "Trunks, stop it!!!"
Trunks growled, his eyes narrowed, teeth bared, still struggling for Goten to let him go. After a while, he finally gave in and stopped struggling, his body relaxing, a sigh escaping from his mouth, his golden form washing away back into his usual mushroom-cut lavander hair and crystal blue eyes. Goten powered down too into his normal self, releasing Trunks from his grasp. Trunks just floated in the air, silent, not saying a word, the tears beginning to form back in his eyes. The Saiyan prince held up his hand to the waters below him, shooting another chi blast to the waters, creating a huge wave to splash over the whole island and put out the fire. Trunks then looked back up at his friend, the tears beginning to pour down his cheeks again. "I don't understand...she even said she loved me, but she...she..." Trunks choked back on another sob.
~I am everything you want!
I am everything you need!
I am everything inside of you that you wish you could be!
I say all the right things
At exactly the right time!
But I mean nothing to you and I don't know why...~
"He did what?!?" Bra exclaimed, her blue eyes widened at Pan's words. Pan nodded, using a tissue to wipe away her tears. Marron and Ubuu looked down at Pan sadly, Marron stroking her head and brushing her long strands of dark hair out of her eyes, Ubuu rubbing her back.
"He did, he told me he loved me..." Pan sniffled, looking down and away from her friends gazes.
"But Pan, isn't that a good thing?" Marron questioned. "I mean, you love him! Now he loves you! What's the problem?"
"Yeah! Why?" Bra added in.
Ubuu answered Marron and Bra's question for Pan. "Because now she has Akira, that's why."
Both Marron and Bra then looked down and nodded their heads. "Oh."
Pan's eyes welled up with tears again. "I love him so much still, but it's just not fair that he confesses his love now, when it's too late..."
Bra looked up questionably. "Too late?"
Pan nodded. "A few nights ago, Akira asked me to marry him..."
The only response Pan got from that was the dropped jaws of Ubuu, Marron, and Bra together.
"WHAT?!?!" they all shouted.
Pan nodded. "I told him I'd have to think about it. Before Trunks came up to us and had that talk with me, I was actually going to say yes to Akira." The raven-haired Saiyan buried her face into her hands. "I just don't know what to do..." she sobbed.
Bra, Ubuu, and Marron just looked at eachother.
*-*-*
Trunks and Goten softly landed onto the wet lawn of Capsule Corporation. It had been at least a good two hours that they were out there at that island, talking to eachother. Goten had convinced Trunks to come back to the house and try to talk with Pan again. Trunks wasn't too fond of the idea, but he gave in eventually and agreed.
As they walked into the house, the first thing they noticed was that it was dark and quiet. Both Trunks and Goten figured that everybody had already went home. Trunks sighed, looking to Goten; obviously Pan had already left. There go his chances of talking to her...
The two Demi-Saiyajins walked up the stairs and into Trunks's bedroom. Trunks flopped down onto his bed, face first, right into the pillow. What a day. He had just lost his one true love, and for good this time. Goten just sat on the edge of the bed, patting his back. Goten knew no matter what he did to cheer him up that it wouldn't do any good, so he decided to give Trunks some space. With that, he got up and exited Trunks's room, closing the door behind him, off to search for Bra and to see what had happened while Trunks and himself were away.
A few minutes later, Trunks heard a knock on his door. Trunks mumbled and turned over onto his side, his back to the door, deciding not to answer it. Again, somebody knocked at the door.
"Go away!" Trunks shouted, not wanting to have any company.
Ignoring Trunks's words, the door slowly opened and in walked somebody quietly. They shut the door behind themselves, Trunks hearing the click of the door and turning around to the person who dared to disturb him in his emotional state.
"Didn't I just tell you to go awa..." He stopped short as his eyes met a pair of dark ones.
"Hi Trunks," spoke Pan softly.
"Pan! I...what are you doing here?" Trunks asked, surprised she was still there, surprised that she would even give him the time of day.
"I need to talk to you," the quater Saiyan sat down besides Trunks onto his bed, facing him, her hands reaching for his as she took a deep breath and sighed.
"Trunks, what I did was wrong. I shouldn't have exploded like that. It's just...I've had mixed emotions and feelings for a long time now. I know that I still love you, but then there was Akira. Trunks, Akira had asked me to marry him a few nights before..."
Trunks's eyes widened.
"Wh..What?"
"Yes, I know Trunks, just please, let me finish. Akira had asked me to marry him, but I turned down his offer and told him that I would need some time to think about it. Before you approached me, I was going to tell him yes, but never had gotten the chance, and perhaps that was fate."
Trunks listened intentively to everything she was saying. Fate? What was she getting at?
"Trunks, after you left, I had a long talk with Ubuu, Marron, and your sister. They all told me their opinions, and in the end, I agreed. Everybody from the party left by the time we were through talking, the only people who stayed besides them and myself was Akira. I spoke to him...and..."
Trunks's heart lifted in hope of what she was about to say.
"We broke up. Trunks, I realized that no matter who I might be in a relationship with, no matter how much I would love them, I will never love them as much as I love you. We were meant to be, Kami just made it this way I guess. I'm so sorry Trunks, please say you'll forgive me." Pan finshed her sentence, the tears filling up in her eyes again, afraid he'd turn her down.
His response to her was a kiss. His lips reached hers, claiming them as his own, kissing long and passionately. Their mouths parted, tongues slipping past their lips and exploring the other's mouth. When they finally broke away, the just simply stared into eachother's eyes, smiling.
"Aishiteru, Paansu," Trunks said, his eyes filled with love and affection.
Pan smiled back. "Aishiteru, Torankusu."
~He's everything you want
He's everything you need
He's everything inside of you that you wish you could be
He says all the right things
At exactly the right time
He means everything to you, it's a love you can't deny~
With that, they kissed again, Pan falling back down upon his bed, Trunks on top of her, his arms wrapped around her, promising to her and to himself that he'd never let go of her or her love and never deny it ever again.

Yeah, I know, I made that last chorus part up, but that's only so it could fit the ending of the story. Did you like it? I hope so. Please review!!!
