Chapter 3

Melody woke up to see two of Kaioki's four moons threw her bedroom window. They were thin crescents. Then she remembered, today was her 10th birthday. Today she would receive her Future Destiny. When Kai's turned a decade old they would get a job assigned for them. When Shin was 10 his destiny was "Overseer Of the universe" Melody was excited. She would know today what she would do until she died. She invited the Z fighters over for dinner so she could tell them her destiny.
After she was finished getting dressed she looked in the full length mirror. Her ceremonial gown was just a black robe with purple, turquoise, and green scarves wrapped around it. The ceremony was supposed to be after 24 hours of fasting and isolation. To a normal Kai it was nothing but to Melody it was pure torture. But the fasting was done and Shin joined her for the assigning. After a series of chants and some sort of tea it was time.
A low voice filled with understanding and kindness crackled in the air. "Good morning, Melody. What do you want with your life?" "I don't know. I'm 10 how could a ten year old know what they want with their life?" there was laughter then the Unseen said "You are wise for someone your age. I have searched your spirit and I know your destiny." A glowing golden light surrounded her and a thumb sized key appeared in front of her. "You shall be Guardian of Time and Keeper of the Eternal Elixir." "Meaning. . ." Melody asked looking at her father "You get to travel threw time and decide who deserves immorality." Melody took the key the voice continued, "There's more though. No one can touch that key without your permission except for well you'll figure it out. You can stay in the room for an eternity learning and training but only a day will pass in the universe. Have a good future Melody."
That evening the Z fighters gathered around to hear shin's announcement. Melody was nowhere around, "So what's Melody going to do?" Goten (17) asked. "She's the Guardian of Time and Keeper of the Eternal Elixir." Vegeta glared at him with a stern, questioning glance "She watches & protects time and can give people immortality." "That's so cool!" Pan (6) said. "Were is she?" "This morning she went into the Room of Knowledge and Time. She wanted to see what it looked like." Right then Melody appeared in a flash of light. "I'm sorry I stayed so long Dad. I just watched the History of Namik. I didn't know it would take so long. It felt like I was there for about a million years! Uh. . . what day is it?" "It's still your birthday. You were only in the room for about an hour." "That was the longest Hour of my life.

Melody was bored. Only seven years into her job and it felt like she lived three lifetimes. Lot's of people traveled threw time. Now whenever Future Trunks wanted to visit he had to go threw inspection. The same went with everyone else. Lots of people traveled threw time. She watched people travel for vacations, jobs, or rescue missions. If anything unexpected happened she had to clean up the time knots. If you planned to change the future you had to say why. But if you were just visiting she made sure nothing went wrong. Even though she spent billions of years in the ROKAT (Room Of Knowledge And Time) she had only aged to 17 and she had the emotional mind of one.
"You look lovely, Mel," Shin said trying to reassure his sobbing daughter. She had picked up the nickname Mel when she was 12. Tears weald up in her Eyes and she cried, "No I don't! I'm too short for anyone to say I'm lovely! And white hair makes me look old! You just say I'm pretty because you're my Dad!" A time traveler had told her she was short and ugly. She had banned him from time travel. "I'm UGLY! That guy's right! Who'd wanna go out with a short, purple-skinned, white-haired, seventeen year old Guardian Of Time? It's not exactly a normal after-school job! I'm not even a normal Kai! I have a TAIL!" "Honey, your stressed. Why don't you take a day off? You haven't had a day to yourself in years!" "I need to run an errand then I'll take a nap, or something. I need to respond to a complaint about a time meddler. He's not listening to my letters so I'm going to talk to him in person." She lifted the key into the air and said "Take me to the ROKAT!" when she got there she slumped to the ground and muttered "I'm ugly. My life sucks. Oh well I'd better get going." With that she disappeared.

The Ginyu Force were sparring against each other. Burter, Recoome, and Guldo verses Captain Ginyu and Jeice. Guldo had froze time and was a millimeter away from punching Jeice in the face when he was pulled away and time restarted. The group stopped and watched in interest about what was happening to their team mate. A purple female with almond eyes and white hair had Guldo in a headlock. "Alright four eyes. I contacted you eight times and you refuse to comply. For not responding I'm revoking your powers until I see improvement on your behavior." In a choked voice he said "What are you talking about?" "I sent eight letters after receiving a complaint about your Time Freeze power."
"What complaint?" he was dropped and a letter appeared out of nowhere into her hand. she read it out loud. "To G.O.T., I'm writing to accuse Ginyu Force Member, Guldo's Time Freeze Power. He steals my food, fights dirty with it, and tried to kill me once I was in a Regeneration Tank for a month. Make sure he tones it down." It was signed Sincerely, Crown Prince Vegeta- I'm six at this moment in time. "G.O.T.?" Captain Ginyu asked "Not that it matters to you but it's short for Guardian Of Time. Now about this power of yours. How does it work?" "As long as I hold my breath time stops." She snickered and said "You must suck at breath holding contests. Well let this be a warning for you. I need to get back to my post-AAAHHHHH NO! Where is it!?"
"Where's what?" Burter asked as Melody spazzed out. "My KEY!" "What key?" Recoome asked clueless as ever. "My key to get home! I need it to time travel." "What's it look like?" Jeice asked "It's about the size of my thumb and near the top there's a pea sized ruby. If you find it I'll tell your guy's future. Promise!" "Fine. We'll look." While they looked each had there own thoughts to ponder about the purple Time Guardian. 'Damn that girl has a good headlock. I'd hate to get her mad' Guldo's mind rang 'I wonder what my future's like?' Burter fanaticized about glamour and fame 'She must be a model.' mused Recoome. 'Time Guardian? How'd she get that job?" Ginyu wondered. 'Time Guardian? Yah right, I'd bet' "Hey I found it." Jeice said reaching down to pick it up. "DON'T TOUCH IT!" but it was too late. When he picked it up instead of becoming unconscious he felt a tingling, warm feeling travel up his arm.
"Here." He tossed it to Melody who gawked at him. She caught it and started to circle him looking him up and down. She pointed to each of them stating their future in that timeline. "Ginyu. You will one day take Zarbon's place as Freeza's most powerful warrior. Recoome. You will receive a solar system that you will rule over. Burter. You will become a four star general and will be a hero to thousands of civilizations. Guldo. You will be at the mercy of someone who hates you. Jeice." Everyone saw her smirk "You Mr. Tangerine will one day get lot's of power but don't let it slip by unnoticed. Okay Bye. You guys are great maybe I'll come to visit sometime." With a flash she was gone.
