Trunks opened his condo entrance, the light automatically turning on at the sense of movement. He’s brows knit upon seeing his large projection screen off. Usually Taylor liked to watch late night movies but all the lights were off in the place. He placed his keys on his glass kitchen table and went into the living room where their cat slept stretched out on the recliner. “Hey, Moka. Miss me?” The cat purred upon the touch on it’s ear and meowed to answer his question.

“Trunks, is that yous?”

“Yes, it’s me.” He entered the bedroom, her form laid under the thick quilt while watching a movie on their flat screen. He sat on the bed and just stared at her. Her eyes were puffy and swollen, blackened by her lack in sleep. This is the way she has been for the past week or so. After so many questions that went unanswered, Trunks decided it was best to leave her alone. She let him know what the problem was when she felt the need to tell him. He leaned in and gave her a light kiss. “How was your day?”

“Where’d you go? Why weren’t you at work?”

“I went to see my parents.”

“Oh.”

“Where did you think I went?” She shook her head and her eyes went back to the TV. “Is there something wrong?” Taylor shook her head again and grabbed the remote to change the channel, however Trunks took the remote from her and shut the screen off. “You’re acting weird. You’ve been acting weird. What’s wrong?”

“It’s nothing.” She turned to her side with her back to him.

He sighed letting it go. This was always the response he got from her. “Taylor. My dad’s making me go on a trip.”

“What kind of trip?”

“I’m going to be gone. A long time.”

Her eyes came back to his. “How long?”

“A year at most.”

“Where are you going?”

“I’ve told you about my family. My dad was once a very powerful man in outer space and for some reason, he wants to go back there and wants me to go with him.”

“When do you leave?”

“Tomorrow.” Her eyes left him and went to a wall. “I know you’re upset.”

“I’m not...” She took a deep breath and as she did a tear ran down her cheek. “I’m not, going to wait for you.”

“What?”

She slowly blinked her eyes back to his and more tears built up at the sight of his confusion. “You’re right. I have been acting weird lately.”

Trunks calmly stood, “What’s going on Taylor?”

“I’m tired, Trunks. It’s been almost a month since I saw you with Nesa.”

“We talked about that.”

“But what we didn’t talk about, is how you’a not ova her.”

“You can’t be serious.”

Taylor took off her covers and stood in front of him. “I reach ova in the middle of night sometimes, Trunks. And touch you. And foua out of five times, you call me her.” Her tears spilled down and Trunks brows knit in sorrow but he stayed where he was not knowing if touching her would be okay. “You’ve called her almost everyday since she left. You have a picture of her and Jory in your wallet.”

“She’s my friend, Taylor. She’s going through a hard time right now. And I only keep that picture because of Jory.”

“Well, Jory is not youa son. Why don’t you have a picture of me? Why don’t you eva call me and tell me what’s going on in youa life? I moved in when we came back from Japan because I thought if I was theae, you’d have to pay more attention to me. But nothin’s changed. I’m like your mistress instead of a girlfriend. I’m on the sidelines, waiting for you to call me in, and you neva do. I’m in love with you Trunks. But it’s only one sided. And no matta what I do, it will always be one sided.” She reached under the bed where her suitcase hid and surprisingly, only to Trunks, it was already packed. She turned to him and tears sprung anew upon seeing his eyes staring down upon the floor and no words left his mouth, but she could sense his pain. She stepped up to him, touching his cheek and brought his blue, watery eyes to hers. She smiled the best she could. “You know I’m right. This is not youa fault. It’s mine, for thinkin’ you were ready to move on. Now I will always be around, Trunks. And I will neva go one day without thinkin’ of yous.” She reached up and placed a small little kiss on his lips, crying softly when he kissed her lightly back. “Have a safe trip. And don’t you worry about me. I’m a New Yorka. We’re tough girls.” She went out of the bedroom, Trunks eyes followed her all the way to the door.

“Taylor.” She paused with the doorknob in hand shaking, thinking maybe he’ll somehow prove to her that she was wrong, that he did really love her and he’ll come confessing that he loved her more then any other woman in the world. “I did try.”

Her eyes closed and she nodded, “Yeah, I know.” She whispered with a smile and shut the door behind her.

“No! Don’t Go! I don’t want you to go!” Bra screamed pitifully tears following so easily down her red puffy cheeks, her mouth wide open with her horrible cries. “I love you, daddy, please don’t leave me! I don’t want you to go.” Bulma took her from Vegeta’s lap and held her tight as she reached for her father with outstretched hands. “Daddy, Daddy don’t go!” Vegeta clenched his jaw as the elevator doors shut with Bra and Bulma inside. He could still hear her wails echo in the metal can.

Bulma got her revenge. That should make everything well again. He was forced to tell his daughter that he was leaving, making him witness her harsh cries and pounding fists. It wasn’t the greatest feeling in the world; being the cause of your only daughter’s heartache. But this was something he had to do. And he believed in it so much he was willing to make his little girl cry.

It wasn’t till a half hour later that Bulma finally emerged drenched with tears and sweat from her holding her little daughter who was frantic to get back to Vegeta. “Only a few bruises.” She announced sarcastically holding up her broken finger. Vegeta took it gently only to snap the finger back into place. Bulma screamed out and fresh load of tears fell down her cheeks but she gripped her mouth shut, not wanting to wake Bra up. Vegeta went to a kitchen cabinet and brought out gauze and other supplies to wrap her two fingers together.

“What did I miss?” Trunks asked as he entered the house.

“Bra.”

“Oh, well, that’s too bad.” He smirked. “Ready to leave?”

“How did Taylor take the news?” Bulma asked, flinching as Vegeta touched her finger.

“Well. She left me.”

“Oh, Trunks.” Bulma forgot all that Vegeta was doing and wrapped her one arm around her son, the other being held back by gauze. “I’m so sorry.”

“I am too. But I, I don’t know. Now that I think about it, I’m happy for a break from so many girls. Just the guys, right dad?” Vegeta rolled his eyes yanking Bulma back over to him to fix her finger.

“Well, your ship is all ready, the second one is still being modified.”

“Second one?”

“I have to be ready if you guys call for help.”

“That’s where we come in.” Goten hollered from the kitchen balcony. Goku entered right behind him with a big smile on his face.

“Goten!” Trunks excitedly yelled back giving him a quick manly hug before coughing in embarrassment. “Where’ve you been, Bro? I haven’t heard from you in awhile.”

“That phone goes both ways, brother. If you would have ever called you would know that I am part of the Secret Service for the Emperor of Japan. It keeps me busy and gives me a ton of money.”

“Yeah, Chi-Chi had me rebuild our house again for the fourth time.” Goku scratched his head, “I guess she hasn’t figured out yet that I’m not a good builder.”

Goten shook his head, “Anyway, we are here to send you off. And it sucks greatly that we can’t come along.”

Goku’s face depressed, “Yeah, it does.”

Trunks laughed and patted Goku on the back, “Well, we are probably going to get into some trouble so you’re going to be going anyway soon enough.”

“Alright!” Goku brightened.

“Daddy?” Bra’s little voice interrupted them from the elevator. She was rubbing her eye with her fist, her tears still streaked down her face but she seemed to be a bit more calm now. She rushed to Vegeta’s leg and hugged it with all her might. “I’ll miss you, daddy.”

Bulma knelled down, “He’s coming back, honey, don’t you worry, okay.”
She nodded and looked up at her father who nodded in agreement with Bulma. She smiled but tears still fell from her blue eyes. “Hey, Bra.” Trunks whispered and she instantly ran into his arms and was lifted high in the air. “I’ll make sure we both come back okay? You trust me?”

“Yes, butor.”

“That’s my girl.” He hugged her tight and set her on her feet only to be picked up again by Goten.

“Goten!” Her face brightened and smiled broadly, hugging him tightly. “You never come see me no more.”

“Alright,” Bulma sighed, “Let’s get on to the ship.” Bulma leaned over a bit to whisper to Trunks, “If you think you’re in danger call me, Trunks, don’t try to be all big and bad like your dad will be.” Vegeta growled and ‘accidently’ flicked her bandaged finger, snickering to himself when she screamed and smacked him on the shoulder.

The ship was huge and packed full of so much stuff it was like being in a portable home. Trunks had his room set up with every game system that existed and his computers decorated the wall. Vegeta’s room was empty except for a bed, dresser, and TV. Bulma was smiling broadly on a job well done. Nothing was overlooked. Every danger they might get caught in she had her own unique weapons packed in everywhere. Bulma with two hands and mostly her back muscles, handed Trunks a book that weighed about a hundred pounds. “This tells you everything that you need to know about the ship. Her name is “Betsy” because she’s got so much stuff in her.

“I do not.” Answered a female voice, that not surprisingly sounded like Bulma.

“And if you get lost, just ask her yourself, she can answer just about anything.”

After the tour was over, they all stepped down the ramp. “Awesome job, mom.”

“I know, I’m perfect.” Trunks gave her a huge hug and a kiss on the cheek. “I love you, and please back in one piece.” Trunks said his goodbyes to Goku, Goten, and Bra who was held tightly in Goten’s grip and quickly went inside wanting to ran from the sadness that leaving them all brought to him. Goten allowed Bra to once more go to her father and say her goodbyes before picking the little girl up again and heading toward the house, pulling his dad along as to leave Bulma and Vegeta to themselves.

Bulma tried not to meet his eyes but they were so persistent that when she finally did connect with his, tears fell down her cheeks. “Don’t forget me, okay?”

“That is the whole idea.”

“Oh!” She went to smack his chest but he quickly grabbed it holding it tight his hand. He glanced down upon her broken finger letting her know he had just saved her from a load of hurt. Bulma couldn’t help but wrap her arms around him, hearing him take in a deep breath, she smiled. “Don’t get into trouble when you don’t need to. Come back. Okay.” He nodded. “I love you. You know that.” She pulled back to rest her forehead down upon his, basking in this moment, knowing not when the next time she will have with him will be.

“When I come back, woman. I will be better.”

“Better? Better then what? Better then the man you are?” Bulma had a twinkle in her eye as she recalled a fight they had more then a year ago. Vegeta knew it to for his smirked softly. “I don’t want you to be a better man, Vegeta. You are perfect now. I just want you to be happy. And if this is what you need, then I’ll miss you and think of you everyday, and hope that the happiness you can’t seem to find, brings you right back here, because I’ll be waiting. Just as I have been.” She pulled back and kissed him harshly before sharply turning and walking out of the docking bay never once looking back. Vegeta kept his eyes on her even as the door slid up and closed.

“Start.”

“Yes, sir!” Mocked the animated force. Vegeta rolled his eyes. Great, the only thing he hated about the damn woman was her voice and that was the only thing that would be with him for a damn year! Gods, he hated that female.

So the journey started. And what a boring beginning it was. He tried to train for the first hour they were in space but all he was thinking about was everything that he was going to see again. He now stared out of the windows that surrounded the whole control center. It was thrilling to be in space again, to be encompassed by nothing but blackness and stars. It was a feeling of being free, and not hindered by Earth and how it never can leave your line of sight even when flying above the clouds. Earth was always there. But now, his earth was his ship. This vessel that contained so much information and weapons and food, yet held no one but him and his son. He was free again. Free to go where ever he pleased.

And yet, all he wanted to do was go home and watch TV. How human he has become. If his body was capable of retaining fat, he would have a belly on him like a man that sat on the couch and drank beer all his life. He was no better then that these days.

Vegeta was so anxious to get to the worlds beyond this universe, to see how they all had coped with all the things that threaten them everyday. He wondered if there was another Frieza out there, a creature wanting to control everything and everyone. A creature that took innocents and ruined their lives with torture and death. A creature that only wanted power. If so, Vegeta was going to yank them off their feet. He was going to prove to all the universe that he was more powerful, that he was a Savior, and he was going to save them all, just like the stars predicted.

He couldn’t wait to prove to himself, that he was the One.
