Black Flowers ; chapter 30, 'Too Much'
Vegeta felt a hand catch his shoulder… tightly.
"If I were you, I'd stop staring at her."
Vegeta smirked, lifting the son of Kakkorrott's hand roughly off him. He didn't have to question Goten's accusation. "Well, aren't we touchy?" He mused.
Goten shook his head and gritted his teeth. "You have no idea…"
Gohan looked across at the two men suspiciously. "Is anything wrong?" He asked. Goten drew away and took a step backward.
Vegeta just glared, and Gohan took the hint. Suddenly, there was a rustle through the crowd. Gohan looked up above the crowd, and sneakily lifted an inch or two from the floor. He fell back to earth and stumbled as he gasped. Goten and Vegeta struggled to see what was going on. Vegeta rudely pushed his way to the front of the people, followed by Goten, and finally Gohan. The three men skidded to a halt. Their jaws dropped.
Arienne winked at them from the top of the small promotional stage. As the young curly haired girl pressed against Arienne's back, they twisted low in their short dresses, bringing leers from the crowd. Eira moved back, dancing in her own space, seeming in her own little world. Her dress swished around her generous hips, swishing them sexily. Her hair had came undone long ago, swishes and swirls of turquoise green.
The youths had obviously gotten a taste for classic rock music, namely Queen. Eira was completely lost, moving her body to the rhythmic beat.
Arienne moved closer to Eira, and the turquoise girl threw her arms around the dark haired Saiyan's neck. They swayed closer, their bodies pressing to each other's. Eira moaned slightly, her lips parted, and Arienne loosened her hold, allowing Eira to fall gracefully back, her body arching backwards. Arienne swung her back up, Eira momentarily catching her breath against Arienne, their eyes locking. Then their hips began moving again, neither gaze shifting.
A loud cheer from the male next to Goten woke him up to what was actually happening. He turned to Vegeta in a rage. "Look what your daughter is doing to my innocent little girl!" he screamed.
Vegeta raised an eyebrow, and snorted. "My daughter... encouraging that promiscuous little offspring of yours?" He snapped back.
"You bastard! Why can you never accept any responsibility for anything? Keep away from my girls… 'girl'!" He stuttered, correcting himself.
Vegeta paused, amused. "So... you've already laid claim on her?" He accused him.
Goten growled under his breath, but flushed. Gohan came to his senses, and frowned at Vegeta. "Come on... he's concerned over his daughter. Leave him be." He told the prince sternly.
Vegeta smirked wider and tutted in disapproval at Goten. "You really are in a dilemma. It's quite the scandal. The sort Bulma is so fond of spreading if she gets wind of it." He mused. He grinned mischievously. "Tell me... how was she for you?"
Goten nearly skidded to punch Vegeta, but held himself back using all the willpower he owned. "Don't you dare try to lecture me." He growled dangerously from the back of his throat. "It wasn't like that." His voice shook slightly with distress.
"Goten, knock it off." Gohan snapped angrily. He was in big brother mode, and growing irritated.
Vegeta started to walk past the two brothers, and paused momentarily near Goten. "At least I don't share her blood." He said under his breath. "Isn't it fortunate you've managed to bury it? I dread to think what they'll all think, if it ever gets... 'dug' up…"
Goten glared darkly, but in the pit of stomach, he could feel he was anxious. "You wouldn't…" His voice was barely past a hoarse whisper. "If I'm exposed... so will you."
But Vegeta carried on walking. The crowd cheered as Arienne and Eira showily finished their dancing, and Goten nervously watched his daughter as she lapped up the attention, trying not to follow his gaze to Vegeta's retreating form.

Rayne stopped in the darkness of the Corp. She could feel every hair on edge, her breath seemed sharp and hot. He was here. Following, tracking her. She found herself running, her heart beating in her chest. She could feel his presence, closer…
Shadows danced as the moonlight spread itself along the walls and floor inside the building. Her nerves were on fire, not even the crisp cold light of the moon could douse her. She could smell him. His scent clung to her senses, warm, overwhelming. Another part of her burned softly. A light perspiration shone softly on her skin, and she could smell her own heat.
Forbidden… Her siblings had coaxed her to give the relationship up. They cared for her and only wanted the best for her. But she was already intoxicated. <Rayne... he's dangerous…> A voice, an echo through her head yet that seemed to bounce off the ice grey walls of the Corp.
<He's using you. He doesn't give a damn!> Another echo. They were dancing now, dancing with the shadows and reflections around her.
<Too young
Too old

What other names can you give love? What other ways can you justify its demise?
She knew how to kill. She'd been trained to be cold. She was taught to not see people's eyes anymore. Only to see them as orbs of fine glass, easily broken. If she looked closer… vivid colours, smudging together were merely stains… and a black spot that couldn't be rubbed away. And beneath... only mortal flesh. There was no soul visible behind those hollow orbs. All she could see was her reflection, distorted amongst the stains.
A cold hand on her arm. She was yanked back as hands caught her, pulling her towards a body. She submitted, anxious and afraid. But a hollow yearning followed, a desperate need. The body that held her was warm. Without knowing, she reached to cover her captor's hand with her own.
She allowed him to lead her along the dark corridors in a trance, holding tightly to his gloved hand. Raven paused, smirking. He drew Rayne into the darkened room, closing the door behind them. Rayne tried to regain her mind... but his touches were intoxicating, welcoming.
"Have you missed me?" Raven breathed. He suckled her neck gently, his eyes manic and hungry. He pulled her roughly against him.
"Raven…" Rayne whispered, tracing his cheekbone with her fingers. Then his hot mouth was on hers. The same mouth that had betrayed her so many times... caused so much pain.
"Have you forgotten me?" Raven demanded, pulling away. "Am I no longer a concern?" His voice was rising. A hand slapped across her cheek, and Rayne flinched. Her eyes were cold as Raven pulled her face back to his.
Raven pressed her backwards, sinking down onto the bed. "You're mine. You belong to me, little girl." He snapped.

Cadell stopped sharply, causing the people behind him to halt to a standstill with him, before passing around him in streams. The sky was dark now, and the strips of clouds were gorged with starlight. Large lights flicked on suddenly, a low hum of electricity heard. The artificial light bathed the gardens through segregated glass, until everything seemed real again. Lovers pulled back to gaze around, blinking, their eyes adjusting to seeing their partner's faces in the harsh light. A woman next to Cadell gazed up slowly, her eyes adjusting. Her skin was ghostly pale, her hair midnight black, but her roots were dark golden brown. Underneath her eyes, faint grey circles, and surrounded with lots of smudged make-up. A dark tear of black mascara had ran down her cheek, so she seemed like a clown in the night. The girl suddenly stepped back from Cadell, warily. Maybe it was something in his eyes he wondered?
…It was easier to kill in the night. When everything was bathed in a pearled reality. Nothing was ever real in the moonlight. Cadell stared at the timid woman. He began to doubt if he could ever kill her now, in this harsh light? Not when he could see the translucency of her porcelain white skin beneath the blood red blush in her cheeks. She was too real…
He stepped forward, and she caught her breath inside her pale exposed throat. His thumb swept across her cheek, rubbing away that black tear.
"No wonder we cry." He mourned softly. The woman stumbled backwards, running away from him. Cadell turned his head, and his head swam. He closed his eyes, savouring the darkness he found there. Cadell's eyes opened, and he stared into the vast darkness of space. He stared past all the lights, through the clusters of stars. Up in space... It was always black. And that's what was real to them. The darkness was their personal truth.
"Hey, keep it moving buddy!"
Cadell ignored this, letting the people continue to stream around him.
Something was definitely wrong. Too wrong… He had lost his scent in his wistfulness. He frowned in deep concentration, growing more and more frustrated. The fake light blinded him, smothering his wild senses. After several minutes, he broke his meditation, cutting through the crowds to his pack. Rhiamon looked up immediately, recognising his sibling's distress. "Cadell, what is it?"
"I don't know yet. There's something here… Someone…" Cadell growled. "…Damn it to hell!"
Shadows danced in Arienne's face. Her eyes shone, and then darkened again. She frowned. "I know... there's something not quite right." She soothed. "I've been trying to work it out myself."
"Maybe Rayne knows." Eira said. Cadell could still smell her heat in the musky night air. "She's good at being perceptive." Eira began to scan her blue eyes around the crowd with a small frown.
Cadell snapped his eyes up. "Rayne? Where's Rayne?" He demanded.
"Chill 'frere'… she'll be socialising." Tristian began.
All five of the youths felt it at once. The other Saiyan's also flinched, but to them, it was new. Cadell grit his teeth as the power level startlingly uncloaked itself. "Who…?" Vegeta demanded of the youth's. To him and the other's, it maybe meant battle, but to the youth's, it meant much, much more.
"Raven!" Eira screamed with distress. Gohan and the others stared at her in shock.
"What the hell do you mean?" Gohan demanded. "Raven? What do you mean? That's... that power level..?"
Cadell broke off at a run, followed by the other youths.
They all tore past the party guests inside the main corridors, Cadell leading the gang, his eyes blazing with rage. As he ran, thoughts flew through his mind, like the flying of his pounding feet. Raven… He was led through the dusky passageways inside, letting his instincts locate the source.
He drew to a halt outside a door, savagely kicking the polished wood to splinters. He raced inside, closely followed by Vegeta, Goku, Gohan, Goten and the other youths. Rayne drew up in the bed, holding the covers well over her naked form, her face a mixture of emotions. She met Cadell's eyes, and then guiltily and sorrowfully looked away. The floor length windows were no protection from the moonlight that flooded the room, until everything was gorged and glowing achingly. Rayne's skin seemed like pale marble, frozen and cold against the night. Floor length mesh curtains billowed in the breeze of the open balcony window. Cascading up, then softly down again.
"Where is he?" Cadell yelled at the girl Saiyan. "Where the fuck is he?" He stepped further into the room.
Vegeta snorted with disgust. "You brought him in here?" He accused Rayne icily. "You brought him into my home?"
Rhiamon strode to her, and shook her by the shoulders. "Are you out of your god-damn mind?" he shouted at her.
Rayne clenched her fists around the bedcovers, refusing to meet anyone's gaze. Rhiamon let her go, straightening, sighing with exasperation. "I can't feel his ki anymore. He's cloaked it again. We just missed him. Literally."
"We'll find him." Cadell growled. He took another glance at Rayne. Rhiamon stepped back as he approached. Rayne rose to her knees in the bed, keeping the blankets pressed to her chest. Her hips and side were exposed, shining softly as the material flowed down covering her middle. Cadell stared long into her eyes. They were cold like glass.
Rayne's gaze didn't falter either. Her eyes were fixed, daring him to challenge her. Then… his blue softened. "You don't look real." He said softly but firmly. "You don't… but… all except your eyes."
Rayne caught her breath. Was that… understanding? Could he truly see beneath the stains…? Her head swam with confusion, yet... something was awaking inside of her.
Cadell paused, collecting his words. "Why did you let him?" He sighed in the silence, standing up again. He strode towards the door without pausing. "We have to make sure this area is secure again."
Rhiamon nodded to Cadell's turned back, taking another look at Rayne, before following his sibling out.
Rayne sunk back lower into the bed, and felt the empty silent cries fill her. Her eyes clenched, and her chest retched, but gave no sound. In the silence, their gazes, slowly depleting one by one.
