"Well, looks like it is time for school," Joe said.
"Yep."
With that, they walked to school. They found an extremely large, white structure in front of them after walking for about 10 minutes down the (very-well used) dirt road.
"Well, this is it," Joe said.
"Our school for the year."
They both took a deep breath, and walked in. They discovered it to be not much different from their own school, aside from the fact that everyone's hair and eyes were black. Amelia got a few strange looks, but she was pretty much used to it from Earth.
A muscular man (who wasn't muscular here?) walked up to them and informed them that he was the principal of Golden Star High School, the school that they were in. He then directed them to there lockers, which seemed quite strange.
There was no combination lock, just a hole roughly the size of their palms. They had a slight idea as to what this could be, and Joe was the first to act on his guess.
He placed his palm on the square on the locker door, fingers spread. The square glowed blue for a moment, then the locker opened. "Cool," he said.
Once they had both opened their lockers, they realized that they were already stocked with the books they'd need for the year. "Whoa," Amelia breathed.
Suddenly a sheet of paper slid out of the back wall of each of their lockers. Joe snatched his paper up. "Well, it looks like a schedule."
Amelia then picked hers up and began studying it. Joe looked over her shoulder and discovered that their schedules were identical, and that the next place they were to go was "The Training Room" and the class was called "Reflex/Combat."
Joe just looked over at Amelia and said "This is nuts!"
"Agreed."
They then walked to the Training Room (their lockers had also given them school maps) and found a large door. Joe opened the door, deciding that the worst that could happen (which he couldn't quite put his finger on . . .) couldn't be too bad.
The humans walked in and looked around suspiciously. They noticed that there were 12 of their Saiyan classmates waiting for class to begin. They weren't talking amongst themselves or anything . . . they were just waiting.
Then the teacher walked in, and Amelia and Joe quickly walked over to join the rest of their class.
However, the teacher stopped them by raising his hand. He pointed to two spots, which seemed to be between two Saiyans whom were spaced further apart than the rest for them to stand in.
They (obviously) obliged. Joe was standing next to none other than . . . Prince Vegeta.
"Are you ready for class to begin?" the teacher asked.
"Yes, sir," the class responded.
"Today we will be doing Simulated Attack Defense . . . in pairs," the teacher told the class.
"Now for the pairings . . . Arkai and Maina . . ." the teacher continued to rattle off pairings. ". . . Vegeta and . . . the male human, um . . . Joe. And Yugana and . . . er . . . Amelia."
"The first pair to attempt the Simulated Attack Defensive will be Vegeta and Joe." The class backed up to a wall, at the urging of the teacher. "And . . . begin!" the teacher then pressed one button on the wall which closed a shield over the rest of the class, and which also released the combat simulators.
Joe quickly pressed his back against Vegeta's. "I'm trusting you here, so don't pull anything . . ."
"Why would I?" Vegeta asked in fake innocence.
The large metal spheres were racing at an impossible rate, directly at them. "And how do we stop these things?" Joe asked.
"Destroy them, how else?" Vegeta answered.
"Oh."
Vegeta then snapped a kick at one of the spheres, knocking it out of the air. Joe then brought his right foot outwards and threw his foot into the sphere with all of the strength he could muster. The sphere flew across the room and into the wall, making an odd noise when it hit.
Joe was just about to mentally congratulate himself when the ball zoomed back at him.
That's . . . interesting, Joe thought.
He shot a front-ball kick at the ball. The ball seemed to weave for a moment, then flew back at him.
Vegeta threw a hook punch into his sphere, crushing it. The sphere fell to the ground in a sea of sparks. The ball then shimmered and disappeared, but another sphere quickly appeared and raced towards Vegeta.
Joe then separated his back from Vegeta's to drop into his fighting stance. He made his reasons apparent when he threw an extremely powerful roundhouse at the sphere. Then it, too fell to the ground. Except in stead of sparks, this sphere was actually engulfed in flames.
Suddenly, both spheres shimmered out of existence and the shield around the class sucked back up into the ceiling.
"Very well," the teacher said. "Now, we will have Yugana and Amelia."
Once again, the class stepped against the wall, and the teacher pressed the same buttons. Amelia just dropped into her fighting stance, and Yugana (also a girl, in case you were wondering . . .) did the same.
When the metal sphere began to speed toward Amelia, even Joe felt her ki level rise. By the time Amelia and Yugana were done, Amelia had decimated 2 spheres, while Yugana had defeated 1.
The class watched on as the other pairings continued in the same manner. None seemed to be able to destroy anymore than 1 sphere though.
*after school that day, in the guest house*
"That was school?" Joe asked incredulously.
"Yes, it was . . ."
"All it was was fighting, and strategies for fighting!"
"But it still was cool. And maybe we will be ready to go for the 3rd Degree belt when we get back."
"Yeah, maybe," Joe said. "I'm still confused about this morning."
"How so?"
"I mean, if I beat you, and he beat me, then how did you beat him?!"
"Maybe our ways of utilizing our attacks are different, and his defense system was weaker to my attack system?" Amelia suggested.
"Maybe . . ."
