Chapter 2 - Welcome to the Future

* * * * *

AN: For those who would go around and report me for my comment last time, this is what I have to say. I'm not the only one who has taken an idea and twisted it in my own way. I mean - how many different fics are there out there of "Ask the DBZ Characters" or "Gohan Takes a Field Trip to Capsule Corp." So before you decide to report me, ask yourself if YOU'VE ever copied. -_-`

`Wow,' Bulma thought with dreamy eyes. `He's more handsome than I ever dreamed…' Even though he was battered and torn, bathed with blood, he looked like a God frozen in time. His eyes were closed and he seemed peaceful.

"Come on everyone," Goku told his friends. "Let's get him out of there!"

"Wait!" Bulma jumped in front of Goku suddenly, her arms outstretched in a defensive state. "Don't! With his injuries this bad if you unfreeze him now, he could die! We have to make sure he's close to where we can treat his wounds first!"

ChiChi glared at Goku and smacked him upside his head. "Baka! What were you thinking!"

Goku rubbed the tender spot ChiChi hit, feeling like a complete idiot. "Oh right. Man, good thinking Bulma."

"I've got it!" Krillen announced, walking up to the block of ice. "It's a little technique I've been working on a while. Ehem." Krillen held both his hands high in the air, and from it two discus began to form. "Destructo Disc!" he cried, sending the things at the warrior. They sliced through the ice from below and bottom, freeing the large block. As it fell, Goku ran to catch it.

"Nice one Krillen, you've gotta teach me that!" Goku announced as he held onto the block of ice. Suddenly, his eyes began to twitch. "Oh man this is cold! AAAAHHHH!!! THIS IS REALLY COLD!"

"Stop whining Goku, let's go!" Bulma cried, excitement filling her eyes. She turned to Krillen and said in a forceful voice, "All right let's go! Since my jet crashed, YOU are taking me back!"

Krillen jumped back. "W-what? But Bulma-"

"NOW!" Bulma jumped into his arms before he could further his protest. "And don't fly too high OR too fast, and this time watch out for mountains!"

"The only reason I ran into the mountains that one time was because YOU were freaking out and blinded me," Krillen muttered under his breath.

"What was that?" Bulma hissed.

"Uh-nothing! Let's go!" With that, Krillen shot out of the cave with Bulma.

ChiChi turned to Goku, who looked like he himself was frozen in the ice. Well at least this way she wouldn't have to fly with Piccolo. "Goku, just give the ice to Piccolo, you might drop it!"

Goku shook his head. "No, I got it ChiChi! I won't drop it! I'll meet you at Capsule Corp!"

"NO GOKU WAIT-" However, it was too late. Goku was already out of the cave.

ChiChi turned to Piccolo, a look of dread on her face.

Piccolo sweat-dropped.

Bulma sighed deep as she gazed at the warrior sleeping peaceful before her. After they had somehow gotten him past her parents without noticing, they took him to the lab where all of her father's medical equipment was. Goku unfroze him and, luckily he didn't wake up else he would have found himself in a searing amount of pain. His wounds were so bad he was almost dead, and it took Bulma everything she knew to keep him living. Now he lied all bandaged up on a bed, various equipment tracking his breathing and vital signs. The others had left - or in other words, Bulma had tossed them out of her house. It wasn't like they could do anything anyway, it was already going on past midnight and he was still sound asleep.

She herself should have been in bed. So why couldn't she stop staring at him?

"F-Frieza, you coward."

Vegita slowly opened his eyes, his vision blurred, his mouth dry, and his body aching all over. Where was he? This wasn't the battleground he had fought Frieza on! And where was Frieza!

Suddenly, the memories rushed back to him. What Frieza said, what he did. He incased him in ice. He closed his eyes tight with irritation. The coward had fled the only way he knew possible! How dare he!

Opening his eyes again, his vision began to come together. That's when his eyes fell onto the most beautiful creature he had ever laid eyes on.

His eyes stayed glued to her for a while, then went to gaze around the room. It seemed like some private hospital - no, more like a lab. He had seen many of these things on different planets he had visited. He frowned as he discovered his sword leaning up against a wall beside his bed.

He slowly got to his feet, fighting back the pain his many injuries caused him. He grabbed his sword defensively, beginning to examine it with accusing eyes. Luckily it was in no worse shape that it had been fighting Frieza. In fact, it actually looked much better.

Vegita turned suddenly as he heard the woman he had been watching earlier stirred.

Bullma groaned and yawned, stretching her arms to the sky. Boy if she had known it would be so uncomfortable sleeping in a chair -

That's when Bulma suddenly noticed something. The bed was empty. Her eyes whipped to the left, and bulged as she saw the great warrior standing before her. "Vegita?" she asked.

"Yes, that's my name, but how do you know it?" Vegita's voice came out harsh, it was still very dry.

"Oh here, let me get you some water," Bulma said. She got up from her seat and raced over to a nearby sink. Vegita watched as she filled the cup, kind of suspiciously. When she walked back over to him he grabbed it greedily and gulped it down as fast as he could.

Bulma arched an eyebrow. "You know, you should really lie down. I don't suppose any of your wounds have had time to heal."

After Vegita finished the water, he handed it back roughly to Bulma. "You still havn't answered my question, girl. How do you know my name?"

Bulma glared at Vegita. "First off, my name is Bulma, not girl. Second, I know your name because you're a legend around here - literally. You've been trapped in ice for 2,000 years. So, welcome to the future."

Vegita's eyes widened slightly. "What? 2,000 years?"

Bulma nodded. "Kinda shocking, huh?"

"DAMNIT! DAMNIT DAMNIT DAMNIT!" Vegita through his fist at the wall, and the wall came tumbling down.

"HEY HEY! STOP THAT, DON'T DESTROY MY HOUSE! WHAT IN HELL IS THE MATTER WITH YOU!" Bulma shrieked, her hands balling into fists. "YOU JERK!"

Vegita leaned against a part of the wall he hadn't destroyed, breathing heavily, trying to soak everything in. "Shit!"

"What is your problem?" Bulma continued to holler.

"Frieza. He said he would come back to finish me off. By now he's dead, the coward! I can't get revenge on a dead man!" Vegita spoke, not even turning to face Bulma.

Bulma slowly approached him, and gently laid a hand on his shoulder. "What did he do to you?"

Vegita twisted around to face Bulma now, his eyes filled with anger and malice. "That's none of your concern, BULMA," he hissed.

Bulma eyed him. He was definitely much different than she had imagined. She guessed it was because the legends revealed him as kind of a God. However, seeing him like this, she found that even he was not perfect. Dende was right - things WEREN'T always what they seemed. However, that didn't mean he wasn't the great warrior she dreamt him to be.

"All right," Bulma spoke, "you don't have to tell me." `Yes,' she thought. "However, it wouldn't kill you to rest a bit. I think the ONLY thing you haven't damaged are your eyebrows!"

Vegita grunted. "All right, but I'm not sleeping in this lab."

"Fair enough," Bulma said. "Follow me." With that, she began to lead the warrior up the stairs.

"Oh hi Bulma, wha-"

"Oh hi Mom it's just the legendary ice man who will be staying with us for a while thanks bye," Bulma said in one large sentence as she and Vegita walked past her stunned mother.

Bulma's mother blinked. "Ice man?"

To be continued….
