She could hear him moving about again. Her bright green eyes closed and a soft sigh escaped her lips as she leant up against the tree that sheltered her from the rain. Being out here now was probably the worst thing she could be doing. The sun was setting and she knew that soon she would be forced to change and run through the midnight forest as a beast.
The young woman had been living in fear of the strange man discovering her secret ever since she had found him that fateful night just less than a month ago. She had found him unconscious, bruised and bloody in a giant crater, bits of burnt out metal and strange broken technology scattered around him. How on Earth had he survived such a terrible ordeal? Was it the remains some kind of plane? Had he crashed?
The answer was soon clear and right in front of her when she noticed what looked to be a long brown furred tail wrapped tightly around his waist. At first she thought it looked like it could be an cat's tail, but when she reached out to touch the ruggedly handsome man's bloody face, the tail swiftly wrapped around her wrist as a monkey's would a tree branch.
Onyx eyes had glared up into startled green, and the woman saw her death in those eyes. They did not speak for several minutes, Predator and Prey studying each other silently, waiting to see if the other would be a danger, a threat. Seemingly satisfied, the strange man had nodded, before slipping into an unconscious state once again. His tail, however, stayed firmly around her wrist.
Never before had a man been so heavy! It took her the best part of two hours to drag him from the crater and into the old, abandoned barn at the other side of the forest that she called home. She lay him down on her bed of straw and pulled moss and long grasses around him to try and keep him warm through the long winter night. Although she discovered to her dismay that the man's body temperature was dangerously high. If he was really ill, she wouldn't know how to take care of him.
For the next few days, he had slipped in and out of consciousness, and the young woman brought him food and water, tended to his wounds and bathed him. He didn't speak much, but accepted her help with a small, curt nod as if it was the most natural thing in the world for a young woman to be tending to his every desire. She found herself stealing glances at him as he ate or slept, her eyes grazing over his strong, muscled body or marvelling at the way his raven black hair swept up away from his head in a wave of black spikes.
She found him utterly beautiful. But not in the way that one finds a flower beautiful. But in the way of a caged tiger pacing back and forth glaring at you through the bars. A dangerous creature made for tearing and rending flesh. But she had no bars to keep her safe.
After a week of silence, he told her his name was Vegeta. Not sure what to tell him, she simply said her name was Wolf. He nodded and continued to tear into the hunk of meat that had once been a doe. He did not think that her name was strange at all, he thought that it was probably just a name native to her planet. He was sort of right...
Wolf watched with bated breath as the sky began to turn red, the sun disappearing behind the hills. The still calm of the evening was broken by the sound of the barn door flying open, and Vegeta leaping from its depths and taking to the sky. The young woman watched with wide eyes as his impressive form was silhouetted against the fiery sky. For a moment, she felt his midnight eyes upon her, scorching two holes right through her, before her turned and disappeared into the sunset.
