Gama's Blood Crystal

Chapter 2: Lair of the blood demon…

Saria stirred slightly. Something wouldn't let her rest, no matter how tired she was. She was still in pain and a lot of it. And whatever she was laying on definitely wasn't helping, either. Somehow, deep in her subconscious, she could sense that whatever woke her was more important than pain or discomfort tho. So she tried to force her eyes open. At first, everything blurred, and looked the same as when she first opened her eyes. She closed her eyes and opened them again, forcing herself to focus as she fought the sudden onslaught of dizziness by staying as still as she could. Not that it was hard, considering how injured she was. Slowly she started to make out shapes. The wall several yards ahead of her was easiest, then the columns scattered around the room that held up the roof. The white piles, including the big one that she was laying, on were the hardest to make out. They almost looked like white sticks…

Then she noticed the quiet sounds coming from behind her. She couldn't make them out at first, just that they were coming closer. She closed her eyes in order to listen better. All she could figure out were footsteps quickly approaching. Then the sound of someone climbing up the stick-pile that she was on. She knew she was in no condition to fight; she was too weak to even move. Then whoever it was, was gently picking her up. She flinched at this and immediately opened her eyes, looking up who held her. And gasped. There was no way! Was she dreaming?

Goku was looking at her and gently asked her something. But she couldn't understand him at all. She felt a wave of dizziness and closed her eyes against it. When she opened them again, she and Goku were on the sandy ground near the bottom of the pile. A surprise all it's own, but what she was looking at… She just stared; utterly shocked. She didn't know what was more believable. Goku, or the huge pile of skulls and bones that she had just been laying on moments earlier. She carefully tilted her head back. The whole room was like that. Huge piles of bones were everywhere on the sand. It was worse than a graveyard of dug up bodies. Even in movies you don't see this many skeleton parts. Especially not so completely cleaned off like these were. She definitely did not want to know who or what had done all this.

So she looked in the other direction in hopes of trying to escape the ghastly scene. Only to be met by something even more startling. Goku's 4 companions. Vegeta leaning against the wall, and Goten, Trunks, and Gohan standing near an empty doorway next to each other. All were looking at her. She just couldn't believe it. She had to be dreaming. This whole room was impossible as it was, and now the z-gang?!

All of sudden, the whole group looked out the doorway as if searching for something. She wondered what could have got them so nervous like that. Hell, she was wondering what was going on with everything. For some reason tho, she sorta got the feeling that what had woken her earlier was what was keeping the z-gang on edge. Gohan then says something and the others agree. Now Goku looks down at her and gently says something else to her. She just gives him a what-the-heck-are-you-saying look, but Goku's already looking ahead and following the others out of the room.

Outside, there are long, wide hallways that have better lighting than the room they had just been in. Like the room, tho, the hallways had sand for floor. But unlike the room, there were writings on the wall and images that looked like some kind of Egyptian decoration or something. Saria, however, was in too much pain to take more than a passing glance at them. The slightest movement was setting her very nerves on fire, despite how careful Goku was with her. She was starting to believe that maybe what was going on was real. Dreams don't make you feel pain with this much reality.

Everyone in the group kept looking at her. She obviously was in pain, but she actually held it in pretty well. She had given no reply to Goku when he had spoken to her as he had picked her up. And then she had looked so confused when he had spoken to her again. If they hadn't seen her eyes still open and looking at each of them as intently as she had been doing, they would've thought she was only drifting in and out of consciousness. It would have explained why she did not respond. Maybe she was only half-awake before.

Gohan decided to try and get some answers from her before she drifted off again. So he walked next to his dad and looked at her. She looked back at him. Even when he asked her who she was, she only stared. Then without any response at all, she looked at the walls. This surprised Gohan. Wasn't she going to say anything? The others noticed this too. Gohan was about to ask her something else when she suddenly spoke. In another language. She looked at all of them once more and then looked back at the walls.

She knew none of them understood her. "Guess Japanese is the only language they know. Well, at least I can always talk to myself without them knowing what I'm saying." She decided to have a little fun. "Free Pearl of Wisdom. Don't sleep. Clowns will eat you."

She would've smirked to let them know she was joking, but Trunks suddenly looked away to hide his smile, whereas Gohan decided to speak again. "Do you understand what I'm saying?"

She stared at him in shock. "They understand me?! Holy shit!" Then, out loud: "You know what I'm saying?"

Gohan nods his head and everyone looks at her. "Yes I do! But how is it you only speak Gama?"

She looks at him. "Gama?" What the hell? "English? Everyone speaks that where I am from."

Gohan stares at her in surprise. "Everyone? How is that possible?! Where are you from?"

She looks at him, confused. Not possible? What the - And what should I tell them? I know I look like hell, so telling them that they're a T.V. show would make me look delusional!" Then she thought of it. "Umm…I think I'm from a different planet than you." Well, it wasn't like she was lying.

Gohan stared at her, really shocked. "Another planet? Which one? How did you get here?"

She just shrugged. Or tried to. I could beat myself up for doing that… She quickly erased the wincing look from her face and actually replied back to him. "I have no idea how I got here. I was just lying there when this portal just appears straight out of hell." Saria didn't want to mention the planet earth. That's where they were from. What other names are there for that stupid planet? Then she got it. "My planet is called Gaia. What's yours?"

Gohan's reply is "Chikyuu."

Chikyuu? Then it hit her. Chikyuu is Japanese for earth. They're from the Japanese version of DBZ! No wonder why Gohan knows English and everyone speaks only Japanese. Guess I didn't need to worry about saying earth…

Gohan's about to ask her something else when they all hear a loud scream suddenly get caught off. Everyone looks at each other worriedly (except vegeta of course, he just looks ahead, searching for the source of the scream), then they run down the hallway as fast as they can. Saria braced herself and looked downt he hallway. Who else is here? And what's happening to them?

Alright, translations/pronunciations:

Chikyuu ~ Japanese for 'earth'. Or maybe it's Japanese for 'planet'. (no I don't think you're idiots, but I did promise)
