Chapter 2- The Truth Revealed

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~
Vegeta and Broly showed up the next day with Vegeta's car on a flat bed trailer. There was no doubt that the shop was Ice's. There was a brand new, emerald Dodge pick-up in the driveway that had Ice written on the tailgate in ivory paint. Shaking his head, Vegeta couldn't get over how much this fit the guy.
Walking inside, Broly smiled at the small boy that was sitting on the counter, playing with a toy car. "Hey Trunks, how're you doin' big guy?" The boy smiled up at Broly and waved. Vegeta walked in and was struck by the resemblance the boy had to his ex. Shaking his head, he hit the bell on the counter next to the boy. Broly pointed at Vegeta. "We're here to get his car fixed."
The lavender haired boy looked at the stranger and smirked. "My mom and a few of the guys are in the back working on cars. Mom told me you'd be by today, just go on back."
Vegeta grumbled a thank you and walked back to the work shop. Clearing his throat, he grabbed the closest guy. "Are you Ice?" The man shook his head and pointed to a pair of feet, sticking out from beneath a car. Vegeta nodded and let his victim go. Walking over, he kicked one of the feet. "You're the asshole that totaled my car, right?"
A growl emanated from beneath the car as a decidedly feminine voice rang out in Vegeta's ears. "Maybe if you would learn how to drive you fucktard, I wouldn't have totaled your car!" The woman rolled out from under the car and glared up at Vegeta.
The amethyst hair, the sapphire eyes…it was his dead girlfriend. "Isis…you're alive." The look of disbelief on his face would have been comical if she didn't hate him.
"Yeah, no thanks to you. You never showed up for our son to be born… you never answered my calls…" Vegeta started to interrupt but she held up a hand. "Save it. I have been on my own for 5 of the 7 years since Trunks was born. My parents supported us until the day they died…but where were you? You were out here, racing. I'll fix your car, I don't have a problem with it…it was my fault, but after that, I want you to leave us alone. Raditz and I are fine. Trunks and I are fine. You will stay away."
He blinked as her tirade ended. "You're dating Kakarot's brother? Why didn't he tell me who you were?"
Shaking her head, she answered him. "Kakarot and Raditz hardly ever talk. You know why too. Raditz asked me a while ago to move out here with him and Bardock said something to Kakarot, but imagine being in his position… his best friend broke a girl's heart, he wasn't going to think I would come out here."
He decided not to argue with her about her story just yet. "So, you're dating a cop…and you race illegally. How does that work?" The look on her face was priceless.
"You've always been the smart one, haven't you? Raditz knows about the racer known as Ice. He has called me Ice…but I'm female, and this racer is a guy." She smirked evilly. "I have my reasons, don't question my motives."
"Fair enough. How long is it going to take for you to fix my car?" She shrugged in answer. "Will you go to lunch with me? I mean, Broly seems to love Trunks and I need to talk to you about things."
Isis nodded and walked out to the front. "Broly, you busy for a while?" He shook his head no but never looked up from the drawing he and Trunks were working on. "Great, can you watch Trunks while I go to lunch?" He nodded and looked up for a moment. "I'll bring you and Trunks back something to eat, okay?"
Trunks looked up at his mother and reached out to give her a hug, which she gladly returned. "Mom, is that the Vegeta I heard you and daddy talking about?" Vegeta felt as if someone had stabbed him in the heart. Trunks was his son, not that rat Raditz. The boy looked at him with a slight look of suspicion. "Why did you hurt my mom?"
Vegeta gave Isis a sideways glance, wondering exactly what she had told him. "It was a misunderstanding and your mother and I are going to discuss it. I'm sorry if I hurt her, I never meant to." Trunks seemed to accept that and kissed his mom's cheek before he went back to his drawing.
While Vegeta and Isis were waiting for their food, Vegeta took the opportunity to explain his side. "Your mother told me that you died…and so did Trunks. You could even ask my mother. I just don't understand why she would've told me that."
Isis took this into consideration. Vegeta's mother would never lie to her and if he offered to her the chance to speak to her, he had to be telling the truth. "My parents never liked you…and it only got worse after Trunks. They told me that you never showed up…that you didn't want the two of us anymore."
Vegeta grabbed her hands softly. "You should've known better than that. If you weren't with Raditz…I'd have you back in a heart beat."
She nodded. "I know, but I am with him and…he's the only father Trunks has ever known. I couldn't just up and leave him." Vegeta nodded slightly and let her hands go.
Their food came and they ate in silence. There was nothing more to say between the two of them. They decided that Vegeta was not the bad guy in all of it…her parents were. They could be friends…but nothing more.
