Chapter 16- Frosty Intentions

Athena woke up and tried to stretch but something stopped her. She looked around her and studied her surroundings. Her arms were shackled above her and she was sitting on a metal floor. Trying to break the chains, she found she couldn't. "Shit…what a time for my ki to be suppressed."

The sound of footsteps erupted into her ears. A soft growl emanated from her lips as she saw the culprit, Frost. "Ah, I see my beautiful servant is awake. You've caused me problems my dear Athena…"

"Fuck you Frost, I'm not yours, I never was. My parents died protecting me from you…my mate will do the same." Her eyes glared into his, singeing his very soul.

"A mate? Sweet, fiery Athena, your mate is of no worries to me. You are in my ship. We depart in 2 hours, after that, your mate will be of no worry to you." He turned and walked away, laughing manically.

Goku looked at his watch and saw that it read 7:00 PM. He looked back at his wife and sighed. "Chi, what time was Athena supposed to be here?" ChiChi shrugged slightly. He grumbled and picked up the phone to dial Vegeta's number.

The phone rang in Vegeta's house and Trunks picked it up. "Briefs residence. Hey Goku, what's up?" Vegeta gave Trunks a funny look. "No, Athena isn't here. Isn't she supposed to be with you?"

Vegeta grabbed the phone from his son. "Where is my mate Kakarot?! What do you mean she never showed up?!" He growled softly. `What does this all mean?' He sighed and rubbed his temples. "Get your third-class ass out here…we'll figure this out." He slammed the phone down on its cradle.

Goku hung up the phone and kissed ChiChi's cheek softly. "I need to go to Vegeta's house. No one knows where Athena is."

"WHAT?!" ChiChi looked like she was going to faint. "Where could she be? Why doesn't Vegeta know where she is?!" Goku shook his head. She hugged him tightly and tried not to cry. "Please find her Goku, I was really starting to love her like family." He nodded and took off towards Vegeta's.

Athena struggled to think of how to get loose. She saw a sharp piece of steel sitting next to her foot and used her tail to pick it up. `Good thing I never got my tail removed.' She dropped the metal into the palm of her left hand and started picking the lock of the shackle on her right hand.

The female Saiyan was so busy concentrating on escaping, she didn't hear Frost approach her. "Foolish girl, did you think I wouldn't check on you?" As she looked up at him shocked, he slapped her firmly across the face and took away her metal shard. "You want to play do you? Try this…" He pressed his hand against his shoulder and blasted it with a ki beam.

The girl screamed as the torturous pain surged through her body. She closed her eyes, trying to fight for her own consciousness. As Frost walked away, she slowly began to lose the battle. Before all went black, she sent her mate a mental signal.

An hour and a half had passed since Vegeta and Goku had started searching. Vegeta stopped short and closed his eyes. He heard a voice, her voice, inside his head. `~Vegeta…help me, please…~' He whispered the words as he sent them to her. "Athena…where are you?"

Goku stopped and touched his friend's shoulder. "What's wrong buddy?" Vegeta shrugged Goku's hand off before opening his eyes and looked into his eyes. A strange emotion filled Vegeta's onyx orbs, fear.

He swallowed hard and looked away from Goku. "Kakarot, your sister is in trouble. She told me so through our mental bond…but she doesn't respond." Goku nodded sympathetically. "We need to find her."

They flew off towards the north. As they flew, they saw something that didn't belong. There was a large silver ship in the middle of a clearing. It was taking off. Something made Vegeta want to fly off behind it, but Goku grabbed him before he could. "Isn't that an Ice-jin ship?" Vegeta nodded and started to take off after the ship. Goku stopped him and merely shook his head.

"Kakarot, you can't be serious! We have to get her." He sighed softly. "She's going to get hurt Kakarot…" Goku sighed as he watched the ship go. "Thanks to you I've lost my mate and my child…" He turned to fly away.

"Vegeta, listen to me. The Ice-jins know where we are…they'll figure out that Athena has ties to the both of us. They're not going to hurt her…but they just might send her to destroy us…and I know she won't." Vegeta huffed slightly and flew away. As he watched his friend disappear, he could only think one thing. `I hope I'm right about this…'

Athena woke up shortly after the ship landed. She was still in too much pain to fight the soldiers as they dragged her into the Ice-jin Palace. She knew what was going to happen, and she refused to give the monsters the satisfaction of her fear.

She was tossed down in front of Frost, though he sat on a throne now. "So, it has come to this. Your `mate' and his little friends killed my father and brothers. You will now do the same."

She looked up from the ground and snarled. "I don't care what you say, I will not hurt any of my friends." A sickening chuckle flowed from Frost's lips. (A/N: Think Frieza's laugh, but an octave deeper.)

"You think you have a choice? You are with child…you may be trained to handle pain, but is he?" He smirked as her eyes grew wide. "Did you think I wouldn't know? You little monkeys are so adorable, but you breed like rats. You will kill your mate or I will kill the child. You have 9 months to prepare, is that clear?"

Athena's normally cheerful emerald eyes grew cold and calculating. "Yes Lord Frost." She knew she could come up with some way to get herself and her child out of this situation. "Lord Frost, if I may. I would like to request the company of my child on my Earth purging mission. Even at such a young age the experience will be good for them." He merely nodded, not thinking anything of the appeal. He waved her away as the smaller of the two guards showed her the way to her chambers.
