No Escape

Shouts and screams
a daily routine to me
it goes on and on
day by day
I try to ignore it
tell myself I don't care,
but it's getting harder
'cause I'm alone
and have no one who cares.

The voices rising even more
I don't know, if I can take much more
but still
it doesn't stop
I try to block it out,
but it's in vain.
I can still hear them
the hits,
the punches,
the cracking sound of bones,
the screams of pain,
and see a little girl
paralysed by fear.

I desperately try to escape
but it's to no avail
wherever I go
they are always there
waiting for me
hunting me in my dreams
still
after all those years.
