Chapter 4
Written by: Severina

"Are you sure you want to do this? I can go and then show you when I come back" he offered. The idea of being stuck with the arrogant Queen for however long this might take made him uncomfortable. And there was one other thing he hadn't mentioned to her. He had seen a man who looked a lot like a younger version of the King, sans goatee, fighting with his son. Could that be the Prince? And if Kakarot had defeated the Prince, like the visions predicted, there was no telling what the Queen would do when she found out.

"No. I'm going. If you're only going to be gone for a few minutes then it'll be ok, the kingdom will be fine."

"What about the King? Won't he wonder about where you've gone?" his question stopped her. He could see her body tense up at his words. Why did the mention of the King make her so uncomfortable? And what did she mean by 'the kingdom would be fine?' Why wouldn't it be?

"No. He won't. Let's get ready," she said, walking into the adjoining training room to find some suitable armor. Bardock was asking her too many questions. She had to wonder, if he knew about the Prince being a natural birth, then did he know about the King? Was he just trying to get her to admit that the King was dead? He had warned her about the package, so that had to mean that he knew what was inside of it. Not knowing how thorough his visions were made her uneasy. If he had seen the package, did he see the King's head? And if he had seen the natural birth of the Prince, had he seen what had happened to him right after the umbilical cord had been cut? It was too much to worry about right now.

Finding a suitable skirted body suit, she pulled it on, tied her hair back into the ritual battle braid, pulled on her heeled boots and then the armor. It was time to go.

When she entered the lab, Bardock was dressed in new armor and was tying a dark red bandana around his head. The bandana looked a little stiff for some reason. She ignored it and walked to the machine.

"Here" he said, tossing her a scouter. "I've modified it. It has a camera in there that will record the mission."

"Why?"

"No reason really. I just thought it was a good idea. I wish to the gods that I had been wearing one on Meat," he said, getting in the pod. "Ready?" she nodded and jumped in the pod with him. "Here we go," he said, punching in the coordinates and slamming the button. They disappeared in an instant.

Vegeta' s eyes flew open. Something had pulled him from his sleep; it made him feel uneasy. Quickly he scanned the rest of the Capsule Corp. house for unfamiliar ki. He couldn't sense anything unusual. The blue haired woman was in her room, and her parents were on the other side of the house in their room. Nothing was wrong. Then what had pulled him from sleep?

He had been training harder than he ever had before ever since the boy from the future had come with the ominous warning. He was really training to become stronger than Kakarot. He should be passed out because of exhaustion, like he was most nights. But there was something different about tonight. Something tugged at the edges of his mind. It was both familiar and yet it caused fear to rise in his heart.

Walking out onto his balcony, he searched the grounds of Capsule Corp. Nothing.

"What the fuck is going on?" Suddenly, as if to answer his question, he felt two kis a few miles away. They were unfamiliar. He shot back into his room and pulled on his armor before taking off toward the two new powers.

Gohan felt strong hands shaking his shoulders. He opened his eyes; it took a second before his eyes adjusted to the dark.

"Dad? What's wrong?"

"Get dressed Gohan, we need to go" Goku whispered, his voice was hardened like it was before every battle. "Do you feel that?"

"Yeah. Who is that?"

"I don't know. Hurry up ok? Piccolo and I will be waiting for you outside."

"Oo ps. I didn't know it'd be the middle of the night here," Bardock said as he surveyed the rocky desert landscape. "From the look of the sky, it should be dawn soon."

"Regardless of the time, we need to locate your son, if he is truly on this planet" Patara barked at him, assuming the role of commander of the mission. She started scouting for power levels. "How can this be?" she whispered as she saw blips of power appear on the scouter screen.

"I don't know. My son should be the only person alive on this planet if he completed his purging assignment. Why are we getting these readings?"

"We'll find out soon enough," she said, pointing to the horizon where ki trails were beginning to form across the early morning sky.

"There they are!" shouted Gohan as Piccolo and Goku landed beside Vegeta, Yamcha, Krillin and Tien.

"Could this be the androids?" Tien asked, trying desperately to keep the apprehension out of his voice.

"It can't be! That boy said we had three years to train! It's only been two weeks!" Yamcha said, gazing down at the two figures that were beginning to take shape in the brightening dawn.

"We'll only know if we go down and face them. Come on" Goku said, lifting into the air. All but Vegeta and Piccolo followed him. Piccolo stood beside Vegeta, silently surveying the warriors as they headed toward their challenge. Piccolo could tell that something was making Vegeta uneasy.

"I don't think it's the androids," Piccolo said simply. Vegeta just looked at him. The Namek could tell that he didn't think it was the androids either. Without a word, Vegeta rose into the air to follow the other warriors into battle.
